Trouble connecting LaserJet M1217nfw to wireless system

Hi,
I have a new LaserJet M1217nfw MFP.  I'm on a Mac OSX 10.8.3.
I cannot get the printer to connect to my wireless network.  I downloaded the software for OSX 10.8 and above, and I downloaded an update.
If I hit the wireless button, it search for 2 minutes then says "No WPS Routers Found, Try Again."
Please help,
thanks
Mary

I was on the phone for 2 1/2 hours (!), so it's hard to remember exactly.  The key is to be persistant.  The first two people I talked to at HP had no idea -- one of them told me to replace my router.  They had me talking to Comcast.  None of that was necessary.
You need to get the IPV4 address for the computer (basically, its webpage) and get it into the Mac machine.  If you get the printer into the Mac (using a physical connection), it will work but it won't work wirelessly.  Then you do this:
apple
system preferences
printer/fax
select the printer
printer queue
show printer webpage
device configuration.
then network summary: and enable wireless.
You can also get it from your computer by running a config report (under reports).  But my IVP4 address was incomplete on the printer's side, so we had to go through the Mac side.
And then it started working -- I also found this info on a Mac support website, but because my IVP4 address was printing out incorrectly, I couldn't make it work.  Once you have the address of your printer, you can make it work.
Hope this helps!

  • LaserJet m1217nfw mfp - wireless printing keep failing / dropping off on Mac OS 10.7.5

I have installed my LaserJet m1217nfw mfp at least 4 times in the past month using my Mac that's running on OS 10.7.5. The first time was with the CD that came with the printer, and the last 3 times was with the latest software downloaded from HP.
Each time, the wireless printing is set up and works without problem (using these official HP instructions: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=48mLZoRjJm0). But a few days later, when I try to do the wireless printing again from the same Mac, it can't find the printer on the network. And nothing about the network or router has changed.
It's quite frustrating. I doubt installing it for the 5th time is going to solve the problem once and for all.
    Any ideas much appreciated!
    Thanks

    Hello SC_W,
The IP address can be fixed by going to Setup > Network Config > TCP/IP Config from the printer front panel.
Then select Manual and set the IP as manual.. I would using an higher value to avoid IP conflicts (e.g. if the current IP is 10.0.0.1, change only the last part to 10.0.0.20 so the address will remain and won't be used by other devices when the printer is powered off.)
Although I personally doubt it will help assigning a fixed IP as Mac OS X uses Bonjour hostname to communicate with the printer (which is fixed) and not athe IP address as Windows uses.
Additionally, as Apple products uses Bonjour, I could see some discussions on this matter for the Home Hub 3.0.
    Below is an example:
    https://community.bt.com/t5/Other-BB-Queries/HomeHub-3-Apple-Bonjour-not-working-for-AirPlay-AirPrin...
If setting a fixed IP does not help, try the folowing to isolate the problem and ensure if Multicast packets transfer may cause the issue:
From your Mac go to System Preferences > Print & Scan, click the Plus sign and then click the IP tab.
Select the HP Jetdirect Socket protocol and type the IP as the address value.
Add the printer, you will see an additional print queue listed as the IP address.
Keep using this queue for printing and let me know if you may se any difference for this print queue..

  • Unable to connect LaserJet CP1525nw to Wireless Network

I have new Ubiquity router. It is broadcasting our SSID. I am trying to connect a LaserJet CP1525nw to the wireless network. I cannot figure out a way to enter the SSID on the printer. The Ubiquity router does not have a WPS button, so that is an option. I did attempt to use the USB connected device, but the installer would time out, always providing the same error, that it could not connect to the printer (this in spite of the fact that the printer is on and connected via USB).

  • Trouble Connecting Printer to my Wireless Network

I cannot connect my HP Photosmart C4599  to my wireless network. When I try to access the URL for the EWS http://0.0.0.0/ (listed as the EWS on my network config page) , it says no data received, and hence I've hit a roadblock. I've visted the support page at http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/manualCategory?cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&product=3757826& but still haven't resolved the issue. Please help, thanks!

    Hello @MikeDSF,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I understand that you are experiencing issues when connecting your HP Photosmart C4599 All-in-One Printer wirelessly to your Mac OS X 10.9 Operating System. I would like to offer you my assistance with this. Now, support options are limited as you do not have a downloadable HP Full Feature Software and Driver for your HP Photosmart printer on the Mac OS X 10.9 operating system. Therefore, you will be relying on your Apple Updates to load the driver functionality of your printer on your computer. This also means that you cannot run the standard wireless setup that you will see under the HP Photosmart User Guide as you have no standard Wireless Setup utility without any HP Drivers. In saying that, the IP Address of all 0's is not valid. All 0's tells us that your printer is not on your wireless network at all. At least we have a nice clean slate to work with.
Because your HP Photosmart has no HP Full Feature Software and Drivers on Mac OS X 10.9 the wireless setup is going to be very challenging, unless you have a computer that is using a supported Operating System. We could run the wireless setup on the supported Operating System and simply 'add' your printer into your Mac OS X 10.9 computer once the wireless is setup.
Your printer is supported with HP Full Feature Software and Driver on Mac OS X 10.4 to Mac OS X 10.6. There are no HP Full Feature Drivers for Mac OS X 10.7, 10.8, 10.9, or 10.10.
Your printer is also support with an HP Full Feature Software and Driver on Windows XP through to Windows 8.1.
Please let me know if using a supported Operating System is an option just for the initial Wireless Setup. Once I know what option works best for you I will be able to provide additional support options. I look forward to hearing from you!

  • Trouble connecting IPhone to my wireless network

I have recently experienced problems connecting my Iphone to my wireless network. I have had the phone for 3 months and this problem has only come up recently. Previously I had no problems connecting, and my girlfriend's Iphone can still get onto my network. I searched everywhere for an answer but most of them involved altering the router settings and since my gf's Iphone still connects, I don't believe it has anything to do with my router and or it's settings. I have reset my Iphone network settings before to no avail. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Hello jesse_222,
    Welcome to the Discussions Boards.
Since your girlfriend's iPhone connects to the network OK, then it's probably not a configuration or security settings issue with your wireless network.
You mentioned you've reset network settings on the iPhone, have you also updated the iPhone to the current 2.2.1 software?
Have you actually powered the iPhone off (not just putting it to sleep) since this issue began?
Are you using any type of carrying case on the iPhone? One with a magnetic component?
Intermittent connectivity can be caused by cached data on your WiFi router or modem.
Try power cycling both your WiFi router and modem by actually removing the main power cord from both for several minutes (5 minutes will successfully reset all but the most stubborn device). Power up the modem first and wait until the LEDs are done with their startup dance. Power up the WiFi router.
If you have a VoIP modem from your cable company, it may have a backup battery inside that will prevent the modem from resetting even with main power removed. That battery is generally installed under a cover on the modem. Check with your ISP for information on removing the battery if that is the case.
Out-of-date firmware on your WiFi router can cause similar behavior. If you have a combination modem/WiFi router from your ISP, check with them for any firmware updates.
If all of the above do not resolve the issue, you may need to restore your iPhone:

I recentily bought an ONN wireless Keyboard Model number LK6500R for my (early)2011 macbook pro version 10.7.3. I am having a problem connecting it to the computer. When i plug it in itself nothing happends. • Trouble Connecting with Secure Linksys Wireless

I decided to enable WEP on my linksys wireless router and now i cannot get my airport express to connect. I have tried entering the default gateway ip address for the router and password on the airport utility but cant connect. I dont have any options on the utility page that seem to work. I have read quite a few other posts that point to this page as teh solution to enter teh WEP key.
    Dell   Windows XP

Use an ethernet cable to connect one of your computers to the AE to set the WEP key. WPA will not work if you have it set up as a WDS. If I am understanding correctly, you had a working network, turned on WEP and now can't make any changes to the AE?
You actually have a few other options to get the configuration utility to work. Here are all your options.
    1. Temporarily connect AE to a computer using an ethernet cable.
    2. Temporarily connect AE to your router if there are any free wired connections.
    3. Turn off WEP on the main router and when you AE's reappear, you can then turn WEP on for them with the key that you want to use. Once they reboot, they will again not be accessible from your main router until you turn WEP back on, but when you do turn it back on, they will show up providing you get the keys all the same.
    4. Hold the reset button down on AE's and re-enter your entire configuration once they have rebooted with factory default settings.
1 and 2 are by far the less fussy solution, providing you've got an ethernet cable handy, which you should.

  • Trouble connecting HP Photosmart D110 wireless printer to D-Link router

We just installed our new all in one modem/wireless router that we received from Verizon yesterday.  The computers connected fine but our HP Photosmart D110 wireless printer will not connect.  We tried many different things.  It connects fine when using the new D-Link with our old wireless router connected.  It will also connect to the modem if there is no security encryption.  Does anyone know how to solve this problem?  Thank you!

  • Need help connecting to High School wireless...Please help

Hey guys, I'm having trouble connecting to the schools wireless... It will connect but I can't use it. It shows a full 3 bars of range but nothing works. I go to settings and try different things but I get the same result. I have all of the information but I don't know how to bypass whatever setting they have here at the school. You have to have a username and password but i've tried entering that. Maybe I'm doing it all wrong. If anyone has had a similar problem or knows where to point me that would be great.

    Hi Ryan,
Does the iPod get a self-assigned IP address, like described here: http://support.apple.com/kb/TA26003 ? You can check by tapping Settings> Wi-Fi> the blue arrow(>) next to the Wi-Fi network.
If it does you may not be entering the correct information.
If it gets a good IP address(not 169.254.x.x) try launching Safari and browsing to any page or the schools active portal page.
You will most likely have to contact the network administrator, if the iPod does not get a valid IP and/or it will not browse to any webpages.

  • Window XP setting to connect to my Airport wireless

I have installed Window XP through Boot Camp on my MacBook, but I am having trouble connecting to my Airport wireless connection for my internet.
Is there something I need to set up in order for Window to find Airport to lock in?
Can somebody assist me to have internet connection though Window?

I'm not quite sure of your situation.
Are you certain you've installed SP2 on Windows XP?
When you boot into Mac OS X, can you get the Internet through your ethernet cable?
When you boot into Mac OS X, can you get the Internet through your wireless (AirPort) connection?
And you say you cannot get Internet through Windows, neither ethernet cable nor wireless?
If you can get Internet through Mac OS X with ethernet cable, but not through Windows with ethernet cable, that sounds like a Windows installation or driver problem, per the comment above. In Windows, have you tried Start -> Control Panel -> Automatic Updates, and get the latests Microsoft update?
