Trouble connecting to PC Network

Hello!
I recently bought a Macbook, and i am very pleased with it, but i have encountered a problem with connecting to my wireless network via an airport card.
The network is based around the netgear wireless router which is connected to my PC, and my mum and dad's macs are connected to it via a d-link wireless internet reciever. my brother's computer is connected by an airport card, but for that i had to type in the correct ip adress and so forth to make it work.
The macbook i have the trouble with detects the wireless network, and it comes up as an option in the airport tab, but whenever i try to connect to it it tells me that there was an error in connecting! I've tried time and time again, but the problem just keeps happening, and i can't figure out why! I tried using the wireless d-link reciever that i used with my old mac,and that works fine, but it would be nice if there was a way to make the airport card work so i don't have to drag the reciever around the house.
I suspect that it may have something to do with the zone alarm firewall that regulates the router, but i can't find any way to change this.
does anyone have any ideas on what could be the problem and how to solve it?
Thanks!

Tell us more about the problem, I can think up 100&1 different reasons, but don't have time to go through all the possibilities. So.. what happens?

  • I am having trouble connecting to my network all of a sudden. It is not an issue with the service/router. I keep getting kicked off and getting a ! in my airport... anyone know what's up with this?

I am having trouble connecting to my network all of a sudden. I am able to connect to other networks but not my own. It is not an issue with the service/router because other devices connect fine. I keep getting kicked off and getting a ! in my airport. Last time it happended I called apple and the suggested I wipe my HD and reinstall everything. I did and it did not work. One day I turned my laptop on and it connected no problem. Now it has kicked me off again. I tried resetting my IP address but that does not work either! Has anyone had this problem?

    Try this:
Apple menu / System Preferences / Network.
Click Location: and select Edit Locations..
Click + (plus sign), and enter a name for the new location - anything will do.
    Apply this.

  • When trying to use Siri I keep getting this message: "Sorry, I am having trouble connecting to the network."

I am trying to use Siri, and I get the message "Sorry, I am having trouble connecting to the network."  Is this the expected "growing pains" of this new feature/service, or am I doing something wrong?  Are there any settings that I gotta do before I can use Siri?
    Thanks.

I've had the same issue with my wife's iPhone, the first night it worked great then nothing.  My iPhone 4s has had no issues.  I disabled Siri and shut the iPhone off, waited a minute or so and turned it back on.  Re-enable Siri, her info populated automatically.  Siri has been working for the last 30 minutes with no problems ??  Server problems, too many things open at once, having the phone loaded to the hilt with no free space?  It could be any number of things, or many thing working together to silence Siri.....good luck all, I hope this helps.

I have an Ipad 2 that I use to view an IP camera over a Wifi network.  The Ipad is in a vehicle that leaves the Wifi range and then returns to the range.  Upon returning to the range, the Ipad has trouble connecting to the network. (30 seconds)  The Ipad will eventually connect to the network, but by this time the driver is frustrated.  I have moved the antenna to within 20' of where the vehicle comes to a stop.  My Iphone does not have a problem connecting or reconnecting when used side by side with the Ipad.  Both the Ipad and Iphone have Otter box covers.  Has anyone run into this problem or have any suggestions?

30 seconds to reconnect to a WiFi network is not unusual, especially in an environment where other radio signals on similar frequencies are present.  Sorry about that.
You might get better times by letting the WiFi base station pick another channel.  But you might not.

  • I am having trouble connecting to wifi networks that are password secured, even though I know the passwords.

    hey guys,
Ok so here is the problem. I am having trouble connecting to wifi networks that are password secured. I am able to connect to public wifi with no problem, but when networks have passwords on them I am unable to connect to them, and I know that passwords. I also know that i am putting the correct passwords in because I am able to connect to the networks on my computer. I have tried turning my phone off and then back on, turning the wifi off and then back on and even resetting my network passwords to no avail. The networks that are secure show up in the wifi list for networks but when I go to put the password in, it tells me "incorrect password for the network". It has never connected to it since the passwords have been put on it. I am out of ideas for trouble shooting. Can anyone else help?!

Try a soft reset by holding in the power button and the home button in at the same time for about 15 seconds until the screen flashes and then goes completely black. Afterwards try and turn the phone back on and see if that works. Also you could try and reset the Network Settings by going to Settings--General--Reset--Reset Network Settings and see if that resolves your problems as well. If all else fails be sure and do a backup through ITunes and then try to restore the device. Hopefully all will be well now.

  • Trouble connecting to wireless network at work

I am having trouble connecting to a wireless network at work. Previously I have been able to connect to it, but today it says I'm connected but won't load any web pages.
In System Preferences under Network Status it says: "AirPort is connected to the network lynksys. AirPort has a self-assigned IP address and may not be able to connect to the Internet."
    Any ideas? Thanks!

beckymagic, Welcome to the discussion area!
Many times this message is received when MAC address filtering has been enabled on the wireless base station. [This is also referred to as an "access list".] I suggest that you talk with the system admin and see if you need to add the MAC address of the AirPort card of your Mac to this list.

  • Trouble connecting to wireless networks and slow connection.

For the past three weeks or so I've been experience difficulty connecting to networks I previously had no trouble connecting to. I'm only able to go about 15 feet or so away from a wireless router before my speed either drops through to the floor or the connection is lost entirely. I've tried looking through forums all over the internet, but I wondered if anybody had any insight into what I could do to get my wi-fi back up to speed?
    Thanks!

  • MacBook trouble connecting to Wireless Network

I just purchased my MacBook and I am having trouble connecting to my wireless internet. My computer finds my router but when it prompts me for a password I put in the number at the bottom of my router and it says that "it cannot connect to the wireless internet". What can I change or do?

2Wire routers are VERY problematic with Macs.
A few people have gotten them to work. Many more, though, have not.
If you do a search for "2Wire Routers",you may find a workaround that suits you.
Personally,I would just pick up an "Airport Extreme" and be done with it.

  • Trouble connecting to wireless network with WRT610N

Need some help please.  I have a WRT610N with 3 laptops that I am connecting to the network.  I have been able to successfully connect 2 of them, but the third is a no go.  I have the security set for WPA-TKIP, have a network code set; but when I enter the code on the one laptop and try to connect it won't do it.  The laptop will connect via wired connection and will also connect wireless if I take the security off.  Many times I have noticed the security settings on the laptop will change after I have save them; going from WPA-TKIP back to OPEN-WEP.  I have tried everything, but no luck.  The laptop is running Windows XP Home edition on a Sonay Vaio PCG K-15.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks

Well try upgrading the firmware of the router & keep on holding tightly
the reset button in such a way that power light is blinking on the
router & then do a complete network power cycle i.e., unplug the power
cables from the modem & from the router & then plug in the power cable
to the modem first once all the lights are solid green you could plug
in the power cable to the router & check out it will definately work!!
Open the setup page of router using 192.168.1.1 then put in the password as admin...
all you need to do is do the wireless settings such as Radio Band Frequency to Standard 20 MHZ frequency, channel to 11.
Also, the advanced wireless settings to Beacon Interval=50,Frag
    thres=2306 & Rts thres=2307 & then uncheck a Block Anonymous Internet
Requests & it will definately work!!!

  • Having trouble connecting after upgrading network

Hi. I'm currently running 10.5.5 on a 17inch MacBook Pro, and have two roommates running 10.5 and 10.4 on two different MacBooks. I used to run our apartment network (from a cable modem) over a AirPort Express Basestation Model #A1084, that was two years old. Last week, I upgraded to a brand new Airport Extreme. After setting it up as a replacement for the Express, I've had no problems, but my roommates are having issues connecting. One claims it takes up to 40 minutes for him to finally connect to the network, and after that, internet is still sketchy.
Since I'm having no real problems, I'm curious what could possibly be a problem. Any help?

May be worth trying the general iOS Wifi troubleshooting first. I don't think they've updated it yet for iOS7, but all the steps should be pretty much the same.

  • Trouble connecting to Wireless Network with T40

    Hi,
My girlfriend and I are on vacation and renting an apartment with wireless access and though she is able to connect with her much newer laptop I am having trouble. My laptop is an IBM T40 (2373), running Win2000 with the following wireless card
Cisco Systems PCI Wireless LAN Adapter #2
    Driver Provider Cisco
    Driver Date 4-2-2002
    Driver Version 3.4.9.0
We were given what they called a username (lets say ourusername) and a password (lets say ourpassword)
After she has connected if I look at her properties it shows on the connectin tab ourusername for both the name and ssid and on the security tab is shows securty type - no authentication, encryption type WEP and dots for the network security key which presumably correspond to the password which we were given and she was prompted for when she connected.
The problem is that if I look at the properties for my wireless connection there is no place to enter the password and no mention of WEP. Is the problem that my driver is too old (forgive the lack of a question mark, and some of the other strange punctuation - on top of everything else her keyboard is laid out for spanish and I cant find a many of the punctuation marks). I should mention that I know that my hardware works as I use this card on public access points all of the time. If anyone could point me in the right direction, I would really appreciate it.
Thanks in advance for any replies.

  • I'm having trouble connecting to the network on my HP stream 7

I'm having so much trouble with connecting my interet to my HP tablet , when i got it .. it was working perfectly fine couple days later it did not want to connect to my internet, it doesn't give any choices to what network to connect too. The troubleshooter said that it had to do something with the adapter. Please help!!!!

This happened to me and a few others here.  The fix for me was uninstalling the wireless driver from Device Manager. I said "yes" when prompted to delete the driver files.  I then ran the wireless driver installer from the hp.com site and that fixed it.  You would have to download the file on another computer and then copy it to the Stream via USB, micro SD or bluetooth if that is working.

  • I have Trouble Connecting To WiFi Network with My Mac, while the rest of the technology connects to it perfectly...

I have used my Mac for almost a year now, and I've always had no problem connecting to WiFi, but today - suddenly I've lost the connection and now I can't see the WiFi Network in the list... I have 2 WiFi's connected together at home - TP Link and Netgear...
The internet still works on a PC which is connected through Ethernet, and the Mac itself works when it's connected through Ethernet... The first thought I had was the problem with WiFi settings, but my IPhone can connect to internet and work perfectly... So next thought was that it was a problem with my mac, but my dad has the same problem with his Mac (he also used this WiFi Network fine before)... So any thoughts?

  • Having trouble connecting to wireless network

Hello. I am having some difficulties connecting to my Linksys router from my Powerbook G4. Here is my issue... sometimes airport can find the wireless connection (called Linksys) and sometimes it can't. I don't understand why it does sometimes, but other times it does not. I have a brand new iMac that is always able to find the network through the airport. I've never had problems with connecting the iMac to the wireless network, it's the Powerbook that will sometimes not find the wireless network in the drop down menu through airport. I don't understand how one computer can and one computer cannot. I was thinking maybe it's because the airport card is a bit older in the Powerbook and doesn't pick up as many networks, but like I said, some of the time it works just fine and it stays working until I shut down the laptop. Any ideas? I appreciate the help.

Try the following on your Powerbook:
    1. Delete Preferred Network(s)
    - System Preferences > Network > AirPort > Configure
    - In the "By default, join:" pull-down menu, select "Preferred networks"
    - Delete the network(s) you regularly use from the list
    2. Delete AirPort Keychain Entries
    - Launch the "Keychain Access" application located in Applications/Utilties.
    - Click on the "Kind" filter at the top, and look for any "AirPort network password" entries...and delete them.
    - Restart, or log out then back in.
    3. Add Preferred Network(s)
    - System Preferences > Network > AirPort > Configure
    - In the "By default, join:" pull-down menu, select "Preferred networks"
    - Add the preferred network(s) using the "+" button.
    - Restart or log out then back in.
