Trouble connecting wirelessly to HP Deskjet 3050

My printer is connected to the network in my home and can be used by other laptops.  I have tried to connect and have run through all the trouble shooting - turn off and restart everything - turn off firewall etc.  HP says it is installed on my computer but not connected.  However my printer software is NOT listed on my Windows 8 apps; I don't get to HP Printer assistant;  when I click on the HP printer icon it starts initial installation all over again - which fails again....

  • Trouble connecting wirelessly only at home MacBook

At home Actiontec router connects wirelessly flawless when using Apple TV or this MacBook running Windows XP (via Bootcamp). Only connects to home network by first starting XP and then simply restarting to OS 10.6.6. Works good until any sleep session or restart; then must restart XP again (connects instantly) and restart back to Mac OS to connect wirelessly. No such issues connecting to any other wireless sites (libraries, coffee houses, other family wireless homes, or businesses)...no need to connect via XP first at such sites. No issues using router with ethernet except MacBook ceases to be portable.

So what happens when you simply shut down and restart directly in MacOS without restarting in Windows first?
I'm not an expert, but I can't think of anything related to AirPort that Windows would 'set' that wouldn't be 'reset' by then rebooting into OS X (although I know my own MacBook used to reset the internal time of day clock when switching from XP to OS X and vice versa, but that was with 10.5.x.)
Do you have a custom 'location' setting created for home, or are you using 'Search' for every wireless connection? You might try creating a custom 'home' location for AirPort and see if that helps.

  • Trouble connecting wirelessly via Verizon FiOS router

    I am using a Titanium G4 Powerbook, OS 10.4.11.
I have an Airport Extreme connected to a Verizon FiOS router. These are set to broadcast on different channels.
Our iMac is connected to the FiOS via Ethernet: no problem getting online.
Other Mac notebooks can connect wirelessly using either the Airport or the FiOS.
This notebook can connect via Airport; however when logged into the FiOS wirelessly, and getting a strong signal, I cannot connect. Diagnostics tells me "ISP failed"; Airport tells me I have a self-assigned IP address.
It seems I have some setting wrong somewhere?

    Why 2 routers?
-- only the AE can broadcast Airtunes
-- but the AE only has one hard-wired ethernet port (I need one for my imac and one for my ethernet printer)
-- and the FiOS router's wireless signal is stronger, I can get it in more parts of the house.
Thus the imac can be on via FiOS while the laptops are on via either FiOS or AE.
As long as both routers aren't distributing IP addresses on the same schema, should it matter?
I'll admit it would be easier to use only the FiOS router, but then no Airtunes. And I can't log onto the FiOS wirelessly, as I explained in my original post.

  • Trouble Connecting Wirelessly

    Hi.
I received my WRT54G3G-ST router today and went through the setup without any problems. The problem I have is that I can't seem to connect wirelessly. A couple of times I received an error message that the router was out of range, but I was in the same room and within line of sight of the router. Now I have it on the desk next to the laptop but still can't connect wirelessly.
    Additional Info:
    Using Pantech PX-500
Running Windows XP Home Service Pack 2
    Linksys WRT54G35-ST Firmware v2.00.9
    Receiving a good signal
    Connected using the network cable
I would appreciate help in resolving this issue.
    Thanks.,

  • Wrt54g - trouble connecting wireless device

I'm having trouble with my Roku recognizing the Linksys wireless network- the correct network doesn't show up in the list of networks in the area (I see some of my neighbors secure networks) and I have tried entering it under "other network option". I put Linksys as the network name with no password (which of course didn't work). I don't know the password and have never had to enter one. Normally the Roku automatically logs onto to the network so this is a new problem. I also had this problem with my lap top- but was able to get by with what I entered above. Help! Is the router the problem?

Enter the routers admin pages and change the SSID to a unique name, not LINKSYS.  Remove all wireless security and save settings.  Now connect your Roku and see if it finds your new SSID.  Once connected and tested you can go back and add wireless security.

  • Trouble connecting wirelessly to HP printer

I am trying to connect my MacBook up to a new HP Officejet 6500A printer and it is not printing.  HP says that Mac has a difeernt way of connecting and that they can not help me.  Has anyone else had this problem?

Someone is telling you pure nonsense!
(I own another HP, but I don't own this specific HP.)
HP lists the printer as being compatible with OS X 10.5 and 10.6 right on their own web page:
    http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc/us/en/sm/WF06a/18972-18972-238444-12019-3328086-4 083974.html
Without more specifics, it's impossible to diagnose the problem you're having.
Have you tried the HP wireless printer setup support site?
    http://h20563.www2.hp.com/p/_wireless/index.html?jumpid=ex_r602_go/wpc-support-h p
I noted that MUCH of the user feedback for this specfic printer on the HP website is EXTREMELY negative, with many people rating the printer 1 or 2 stars.
If possible, you might want to return it and find something else!

  • MacBook and TC trouble connecting wirelessly to PC network

Linksys modem on a PC accepted my new MacBook just fine. Tried to install the TC (500GB) today. AirPort utility recognized the TC once, but when I tried to add it to the established network I apparently failed somewhere and the TC went away. Now AirPort Utility just doesn't recognize the TC no matter how many times I rescan, even when the Mac is sitting on top of it. The amber light keeps blinking which the ever-so-useful manual says is because there's not an ethernet plugged in. But this is obvious, as I'm not trying to connect the TC with an ethernet cable. Any ideas as to how to get the TC to be recognized by AirPort Utility?
This being my first Mac I'm just still a little hazy on a lot of the interface.

To try and be more precise, I repeated the process and recorded everything I did. Also, I've tried to install AirPort on the PC and work from there, but there's a .dll file missing and it won't even open.
    Here's the step-by-step.
    1. Open Time Machine Utility
    2. Prompted to Configure. Proceed to AirPort Utility
    3. Select TC on Left. Click Continue
    4. Name Time Capsule. Create Password
    5. Select "I have a wireless network and want to add Time Capsule or replace an existing device on my network" and Proceed.
    6. Select "I want Time Capsule to wirelessly join my current network."
    7. Prompted to choose a wireless network from a list. The only option is the one created with the name "Apple Network [Time Capsule Name]." So I type my current network name and enter password and Continue
    8. Given this summary:
"TIme Capsule will use the settings below. Please make sure they are correct.
Time Capsule Name: [My Name]'s Time Capsule
Wireless Mode: Join an existing wireless network
Network Name: [My current, working PC's network name]
    Wireless Security: [My security type]"
I click update and get a prompt telling me that "This device and its network will be temporarily unavailable." I click continue and then the load circle appears with "Writing the TIme Capsule Configuration..."
    Error Screen Appears
    Repeating steps 1-6:
    7. Prompted to choose a wireless network. I select the one created by the TC under the name "Apple Network [Time Capsule name]."
When I continue through the summary and try to restart the TC, it never restarts.

  • Trouble connecting wirelessly to existing non-Apple router

Existing home wireless router (Motorola WR850G) is configured with "WPA-PSK" as Enabled, WPA Encryption set as "TKIP" and there is a WPA Pass Phrase (password) set that I know. I can connect just fine w/ my MacBook running Mac OS 10.4.x, but just got a used iBook running 10.2.8 and cannot figure out how to get this box to authenticate. It sees the wireless network name, but when I put in the password, the error msg says "The password you entered is not correct for the selected AirPort network."
    Suggestions anyone?

According to this Apple knowledge base article, your OS needs to be at least as recent as Panther in order to use WPA.
As a side note, in my experience, even with an OS as recent as Tiger, it appears that computers with old-school Airport cards (802.11b only) will not support WPA2, and you will be relegated to WPA-TKIP.
I have also read that one should still use a really really really good password with WPA-TKIP -- like one created using this Terminal command: openssl rand -base64 48 and use 63 of the resulting 64 pseudo-random characters.

  • Having trouble connecting Wireless Router to Network

Hey everyone, I ordered two Encore ENHWI-2AN3 wireless routers and am having trouble configuring the one I want to use as the wireless access point (other one will be used as a repeater.)
    I followed the advice here
    http://forums.verizon.com/t5/FiOS-Internet/Wireless-Router-Doesn-t-Work-After-35ft/m-p/206716/highli...
I disabled DHCP, and set a new IP on the local network. I disabled WiFi on the verizon router as well. When I run an ethernet cable between the two using LAN ports, and try to use WiFi I get a signal, but it doesn't go load.
I'm assuming I need to tweak something in the "internet" section of the Encore router, the main options are Dynamic or Static IP, PPPoE, PPTP and L2TP.
To clarify, I am not looking to replace the Verizon router, only use the Encore router for Wifi

Can you see the network in the Mac's wireless network list?

  • Trouble Connecting Wirelessly to PC Printer

As the subject says, I can't connect to my PC printer. The situation is this:
When the server computer is turned off, the printer is down for the entire network. However, despite the main computer (server) being turned off, I can still access the internet wirelessly.
The problem I'm having is being able to connect to the printer. I have already enabled printer sharing on the PC printer (running Windows XP SP2), but I can't find it anywhere on my MBP. In fact, when I try to add a printer under PRINTER & FAX, the Windows workgroup doesn't appear at all. Does anybody have any suggestions? I figured by this day and age, connecting to a printer on a network wirelessly would be just a few simple clicks of the mouse button...

Let me make sure I understand.
Normally, you print through the server and everything is fine.
You want to be able to print directly to the printer, which is attached to a Windows XP system (How? USB?), so if the server is down, you can continue to print.
In this scenario, is the server normally forwarding the print job to the Windows XP system?
    Is this correct?

  • Trouble connecting wireless f4580 printer to network

    Hi
I have just brought this printer & am having problems connecting it wirelessly. I have a Livebox that Orange sent me.
On screen it says the printer has successfully joined the network. its only when it prints a wireless network test report im having problems. It prints out a page that has the following printed on it
'More than one access point/wireless router has been found that matches your wireless network name (SSID) If this is not intended, your HP printer may connect to the wrong wireless network
If you change your network name, you will need to configure the SSID on all wireless devices to match your new network SSID'
    Wireless on - Pass
    Wireless working -Pass
Network name (SSID) found - pass
    Security - pass
printer settings consistant with wireless router settings - pass
    No filtering - FAIL
    connected - not run
Other networks found matching your networks name - yes
    wireless networks detected - 4
    downlink count - 0
    Channel - not run
    Network name - livebox
Hardware adress (MAC) - f4:ce:xx:xx:xx:xx (have blanked out some as i dont know whether i should have it displayed on a forum as i dont know what the numbers mean, lol)
    IP address - not applicable
    configuration source - not applicaible
    Comunication source - Infastructure
    Authentication Type - WPA-PSK
Encryption - Automatic (AES or TKIP)
    what am i doing wrong?
    Thank you

I think that Orange is a DSL service, right?
    Try this:
Sometimes DSL providers have more control over the router than the printer likes.
    - Unplug the telephone line from the router
    - Turn the power off on the router, wait 30 seconds, then turn the power back on.
    - Go through the normal process of connecting the printer to the device.
    - Now find the IP address of the printer (it should be on the self-test printout), type it into a browser.
    - In screen you will find a Networking Tab, then on the left Wireless, then the IPv4 Tab.
    - On this screen you want to set a Manual IP. You need to set an IP address outside the range that the router automatically sets (called the DHCP range). If you know what that is, set an IP outside that range but no higher than 255 (the last number in the address).
    - Use 255.255.255.0 for the subnet (unless you know it is different, if so, use that)
    - Use the router's IP address for the gateway and the first DNS (leave the second blank).
    - Finally, plug in the phone line and test.

  • MBP Retina 13" trouble connecting wirelessly to servers

A couple of months ago i purchase a new Macbook Pro Retina 13" from Apple directly. In my office i used to connect over ethernet.
For some reason the wifi continues to drop my connection to the file servers here. I can't figure it out. My internet slows to a crawl too. If i restart it will work again but after an hour or so it slows again. I need to access these files constantly so this is a huge issue for me.
    Any suggestions?

    Hello DCToast,
Congratulations on your new MacBook Pro!  Also, thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing with connecting to servers using Wi-Fi and the slow Wi-Fi connection on your MacBook Pro.  I would be concerned about this too.

The "Wireless" led keeps blinking and I can't figure out where to choose my network from. It asks for a PIN (??) when I go into Wireless Setup.
