Trouble Converting Files

I've had many problems with Nokia PC Suite but I won't mention all of them just the ones I've had to deal with recently.
Often, and I'm sure a lot of Nokia users will agree with me, Nokia Music Manager won't convert files. It will say that that particular file format is not supported. I can convert probably most mp3 files to M4A (Mobile Optimised Format 48kb/s) which usually works fine. Some mp3s it won't convert and says it doesn't support that format, yet it has supported all the other mp3s that worked. I know it may be a bitrate problem, but I have a program that can convert a music file to a different bitrate and sometimes when I change the bitrate of the file then it works. However sometimes this doesn't even work. It doesn't even work if I change the conversion settings to different M4A format or bitrate. It will sometimes let me convert it to the lesser quality ACC format which sounds terrible on a phone, like its been recorded with a microphone from the radio speakers.
I've had a lot of problems with converting files but I won't go into them all. The main one which I'm concerned with is why does Nokia Music Manager not convert MANY mp3 files???? When they clearly work and I can clearly play them fine. I've had to do without a lot of good songs on my phone since Nokia Music Manager simply refuses to convert them! I thought surely the updates might have addressed this issue and it's not like it won't convert one or two files out of my whole collection as even this would be acceptable (even if I still didn't know the reason why), but it doesn't convert MANY files. Not most of them, but whenever I want to chuck a bunch of songs onto my phone, chances are there will be at least one or two that will refuse to convert.

Phone: Nokia 6300, connected via Bluetooth
Nokia PC Suite Version: 7.0.9.2
Noka Music Manager Version: 2.0

I think 6300 is a great music player when listened thru a good earphone. It can also play mp3 and wmv format. So, you don't have to convert them. You can listen to mp3's using 6300.
Personally, I agree with a lot of people against converting from one lossy audio to another as it loses audio quality, like mp3 to aac. So, I put in a 2gb card and use at least 128kbps on my mp3s, aac or wmv for really good music. I use Windows Media Player 11 to organize and transfer music files to my 6300 as WMP is great in organizing music files.

Trouble converting files created with 9.2 using 5.0 version.

I have multiple pcs using 5.0.1 version of acrobat without any problem. Recently bought new pc with 9.2 installed. Problem is when I create with new version, older versions can't open. Error message says file corrupted. I tried downloading all upgrades for older version. Is there a solution without upgrading all other pc's with newer version?

I'm using Acrobat distiller from my 9.2 version normally converting a word document into PDF. I haven't really changed any settings from original installation, but I'm afraid I must have some settings that are preventing those with the 5.0 version from opening.

I probably missed this detail in what you’ve posted, but do you see the thumbnails of the three cameras’ raw files in Finder if you don’t convert to DNG?
What has happened in the past is that the Apple raw interpreter doesn’t read thumbnails of DNGs it doesn’t like, where at least one thing it didn’t used to like was embedded lens corrections for mirrorless cameras. Are the Olympus and Panasonic mirrorless—meaning there is no optical viewfinder and everything is seen on an LCD screen or perhaps an electronic view finder? If so the reason these are different is that the camera is doing the lens distortion corrections automatically and this information is stored in the raw files and in the DNGs but Apple doesn’t know how to use these embedded lens corrections or doesn’t know how to read the newer DNG spec that does allow for this information to be embedded in the DNG, at least.
Apple could just extract the embedded jpg preview and ignore the other parts of the file it doesn’t understand, but it apparently doesn’t do this.
What I’m not sure about is if the Apple raw interpreter still has this problem or if you’re on an older system without the latest updates for camera raw decoding by Apple.

HHi Barbara, thanks for replying to my post.
No there's nothing wrong with the Jpegs, but I want to srart uploading images for sale in Alamy, but they say they must be a minimum of 17mb un compressed. Does that mean that at 6mb compressed from 90mb they'd be acceptable?

Having trouble converting array to spreadsheet string, storing the file and coverting back to array with complex numbers

I am working with a network analyzer. I have arrays made of 5 columns the first consisting of an integer and the next four consisting of complex numbers. I am converting the array into a spreadsheet string and then saving the file using the write characters to a file VI. That seems to work well as when I open the file in Excel all the data is there. However when I try to reverse the process, open file and convert back to array, I loose some of the data. Specifically the imaginary parts of my complex numbers are all going to zero. I have narrowed down the problem to be in the conversion from spreadsheet string to array and vice versa. I
think the problem may be with the 'format' input to the VI. I do not have an adequate resource for this so I am not sure what to put in to accomplish my task. Any takers?

I don't think there is a direct way of converting a complex number to a
string, so when you convert the array to a spreadsheet string, the
numbers would be converted to real data.
However, you could try separating the real and imaginary parts using the
"Numeric: Complex to Re/Im" function, and then store these - either in
separate files or in adjacent columns/rows in the same file. Then, when
you read in the data again, use the "Numeric: Re/Im to Complex" function
to put the two "halves" together.
If you actually want Excel to interpret the numbers as imaginary, then
you'll probably want to create a string for each complex number of the
form "Re + Im*i" (after separating the Re and Im parts), by using
"String:Format into String" with 2 numeric inputs and the format string
"%f+%fi".
Reading the data back into Labview then would require splitting the
string into the 2 pieces by using "Stringcan from String" with 2
numeric outputs (smae precision as original numbers specified by the 2
Default Value inputs) and the same format string "%f+%fi", and then using
the above-mentioned "Numeric: Re/Im to Complex" function. It worked for
me, so if you can't follow what I am describing, send me an email and I
can email you what I did (LV 5.1.1).

Problem converting file

I tried to convert a PDF file to word doc and received the following message: File failed to be converted using Adobe ExportPDF online.
I also tried to convert the file using the online application and again received a failure message.
Can anyone point me in the right direction to fix this problem?

I'm sorry that you're having trouble converting your PDF file to Word. Sounds like you've tried to convert both from Reader and from the web interface. The following steps resolve many conversion issues, so let's start there.
Clear your browser cache.
If you're using a work computer, check with your IT team to confirm if you have firewall/proxy settings that restrict the ability to upload files to the Internet.
If the issue persists after the steps above, please try another web browser. A list of supported browsers for accessing the ExportPDF service is available here:http://www.adobe.com/acom/systemreqs/

I'm sorry that you're having trouble with ExportPDF. Can you please tell me a bit more about what's going on, so we can get to the bottom of the issue?
What browser are you using? Have you tried clearing the browser cache?
Are you converting from within Reader, or directly via the ExportPDF website?
Are you able to convert other files? Or is the error specific to this one file?
How large or complex is the file that you're trying to convert?
Are you accessing ExportPDF from a networked computer that may have firewall/proxy settings that are limiting access to the Internet?
I think that's good for starters. Please get back to us with some detail about the problem and we will see what we can do.

Converting files to mac recognizable?

hi all,
new user here. a couple of quick questions.
1. is there a user manual document that i can print pages out of? i accessed the help from adobe air but i cannot find a way to print and copy paste results in irrevocably messed up formatting.
2. i moved to mac about four years ago and am in the last throes of organizing my data. is there a way to easily convert .mov, .avi., .cel, or .mp4 files to mac recognizable formats (i know in a couple of cases the file itself must be corrupted and it is not an issue of the file format).
3. can anyone help me understand a good way to /store/ my various files in a database? right now i have some in aperture but since i have pdf and mov and mp4 and all manner of slideshows/videos this is a bit perplexing and hard to manage.

i think you are focusing on semantics to a point that is unhelpful to me as a new user. i can't tell if this is just an inability to see the real intent of the question (which seems obvious to me but i am a new user so it may not be) or if it is deliberate. If you snip portions of my questions and pull them out of the context of the OP it is going to be difficult for me to arrive at a good solution (which is why i am posting).
i deal with /very/ complicated files all the time and it is obvious that one uses software in most cases to view and/or use the files. currently i run two Mac OS's, two native Windows OS's and four virtual machines. it is obvious that it is not the OS that is opening the files. however, tools such as Quick Look (Mac OS) are very helpful for seeing files without opening them (and this is only available on Mac OS), then there are software tools such as Aperture (which is Mac Only as far as I know) and various Adobe products (which function slightly different on different OS's but again as far as i know).
the question i am posting is WHAT software do folks use to view their files on Mac OS, WHAT software to they use to convert their files to "mac friendly" formats (and if this works well) and WHAT format do they convert files to (or if they deliberately do not convert due to loss of some kind of data or performance issues) and IF they are using AME to do the conversion.
this seems like a pretty straightforward question and other than suggest i read read the user manual (i'm waiting for a "RTFM"...) or to post elsewhere i am having a hard time finding any good information in your responses. maybe i am not asking questions directly enough or you are a pro level user and you are having trouble understanding newbie questions, i am not sure.
what i am trying to do is to avoid reading up on Codex and having all manner of conversion software on my Mac or five different software programs loaded onto my computer to read all the various file types. the reason i have to do this is because AVI (for instance) is a PC based format that only works well on PC AFAIK. i would also very much like to avoid using FInder to store all this data so that it is organized in a way i can be productive. all of this should be pretty hard to misinterpret. i mean, it is no secret that reading video files created on a PC is a bit of a mess on the Mac is it?
when you turn around my post and instead ask four questions of your own - starting with the directive that i first answer "1. what application am i using to view video files?" i think you are missing the point of the question. i am /storing/ mov and m4v videos in Aperture because this is the program that CREATED them and i am using whatever program opens (or tries to open the files when i click on one of the seven file formats). i am doing this because these file formats came over from a PC and because they are just sitting in finder in folders named according to the FILE TYPE. the folders are named according to file type because they are not organized anywhere and i can't get a streamlined workflow to open them and store them.
THIS is why i asked you if you could give me a quick explanation of what to do when i try to open a file and it - for instance - opens in AME. i am in the AME forum and as a new user i simply get a LIST OF FILES in this software which i never used before and i just want to get them out - or converted - so i can move forward with other tasks. i am not even sure this software is going to be useful to me other than converting one file format to another. pointing me to a 100+ page manual when i don't even know the term that the software uses to do this task or what task i am trying to accomplish (or even why the file was opened in this software!!) seems a tad passive-aggressive for my taste and it certainly does not help me get off the blocks with moving forward with Adobe Suite Products...
i don't want to sound ungrateful for an honest attempt at helping a new user but can you directly answer one of the questions and not try and rephrase what you think i should be asking? alternatively, if you are genuinely confused by the question (again i am a new user) can you ask me to clarify instead of telling me what you think i should be asking...? i ALWAYS find this works better when i am the OP.

Unable to convert files to pdf in network drives

Iam using adobe acrobat pro 11 in windows7 64 bit OS.When ever iam trying to convert files from text or word to .pdf iam getting the errro message in devices and printers.
one thing i observed that when i choose local drive eg:c:drive iam there is no problem.but when i given network drives path then its getting error.i have full permissions on network drive and also i can able to save any files,able create files, folders in network drives, So there is no permission issues.
Could you please provide the solution to fix it.

I don't know the solution, but at one point folks were discussing the issue of the TMP folder used for the PDF creation. It may be that there is something causing a problem with the mix of the TMP folder and the network folder. Be aware, I have no clue what I am talking about, but am repeating things I remember reading at one point. That might help you in your trouble shooting. There are others here that understand networks and will hopefully drop by to help.

(You can check by logging in to www.adobe.com and checking under My Subscriptions and Services). Aside from that, I'll need a little more info to get to the bottom of your problem.
Are you trying to convert the file from within Reader, or directly via the ExportPDF website?
What operating system and browser are you using?
How large is the file that you're trying to convert? (There's a file-size limit of 100 MB.)
Is the computer that you're using networked?
Do other files convert without error?

Trouble converting a complicated navigation into a library item

I am having trouble converting our main navigation into a
library item. The navigation includes many images, layers and
behaviors. You can see the nav at the top of
http://www.vedanta.org as you
scroll over the main topics just under the banner.
I built the nav from scratch on a new XHTML page and it works
fine. Then I did Edit/Select All and the entire nav was selected.
But when I choose Modify/Library/Add Object to Library, absolutely
nothing happens, nothing appears in the library at all.
Is this navigation too complicated to be saved as a Library
item?

Are you having the same trouble regardless of the file you've converted to Word?
How were the PDFs you're converting created (using what application)? You can tell by opening the PDFs in Reader and choosing File > Properties. Look for the document creator on that dialog box.

I am having an issue with excel opening a converted file

After I have converted this file from a pdf file to a .xlsx it won't open in excel. Now what do I do? I over wrote what I have done thinking it will work. How can I get this to work?

I'm sorry that you're having trouble with your converted file. Does Excel return an error when you try to open the file?
But the PDF you converted was not overwritten in the conversion process--it remains intact where it was when you converted it. So, you should'nt have lost any work.
Please let us know what happens when you try to open the file in Excel.
