Trouble Copying PLaylist Files over to my Player...he

I have the Creative MuVo V200, and I can copy music and manage everything just fine, except for one thing. When I transfer music over to my player, it transfers all my songs over so that they're in alphabetical order on my player. How do I transfer my songs over in seperate playlist folders? Otherwise, I end up scrolling through every one of my songsin alphabetical order...

Alright thanks. But now there's something else.
I can create folders now, but I can't transfer music into them. Instead, I'll click and drag songs, and it will just copy it onto the MuVo dri've, seperately from the folder.

  • Trouble copying large files

I decide to finally put my 500GB external USB drive and my Airport Extreme to work and started storing some of the files I keep around on the USB Drive. I wiped the drive using my Macbook and then plugged it into the Extreme. Setup user permissions on the Extreme, so far so good.
I then decided to move some DVD images from my Windows XP machine (which is plugged into the Extreme using ethernet) to the USB drive. Well it starts to copy the files over and then stops with a Network error. I've tried it several times to no avail. I tried backing up the machine across the network to the Extreme and that went fine. So what gives? Is the Extreme not able to handle files bigger then a certain size?

Michael, I occasionally notice anomolous behaviour when files get dragged between volumes. Mostly the copying window shows an accurate and immediate indication of what's going on, but other times it just looks like nothing's happening, the display never changes, yet, it is in fact copying the files over. Now, if you're copying 2gb files from DVD to HD, it's gonna take some time, more than 5 minutes, so I'm wondering how long you've left it before forcing it to quit?

  • Final Cut doesn't playback when copy any files over network

First, i want say a thanks for all guys who help us here. Thank you very much. Much appreciate.
    Now, problem...
My Final Cut works perfect sice a starded used 2005, never i have a one problem.
But last week i discover this:
When a copy any files between macs over a network the final cut doesn`t play in the sequence. nothing happening. but if i stop copy in the finder, it ok, everything back normal again.
I try using a project over a network and its perfect, fine.
only if i copy anything in the finder and final cut doesnt play.
Guys, anyone have this problem? Its normal?
I dont know, i try many this before i post here and nothing works.
Ps.: I have two imac i7 and this two have same problem.

I hope i understand you right.
when you copy a file from one network to another sometimes the file paths are lost. Like if you have a drive called FCP HDD on one cpu and FCP HDD3 on another. The original path is associated to the copied files on FCP HDD drive and not the FCP HDD3 drive so a path would be lost there.
If you are connected via gigabyte ethernet cable and the imacs are synced then there would only be a latency problem as the gigabyte ethernet is slower than sata and FW 400 or 800.
If you are just coping the source media (meaning the files you captured from the cam) then all of your paths will be new based on the place you copied them too.
so if i have a project like 'My Commercial' and that is the name of the project file then it is it own project. The media within that project is associated to which ever drive you put it on.
If i move the project to another computer then the media is not there.
Why? Because the project is looking for the name of the original drive which may not exist on the imac you moved the project too. Unless you have a server.
Also, Even if you do move the media files to the drive that IS connected to the new computer the drive is most likely to have a different path for the media.
What you want is to connect the 2 cpus in a way that allows drive sharing.
Do you get the red 'Media Offline" error in the timeline?

  • Can't copy music files over to iPhone 4s

I upgraded to iTunes 11 and I manually manage my files.  Usually I just click and drag files to my iPhone and they copy onto the device, but now when I do that, they don't copy over.
When I look at my phone in iTunes, the files are there, but they are greyed out and don't appear on the device after I disconnect:
Even after I click "Sync" they still don't copy, but I shouldn't have to do that since I am manyally managing.

  • Does Time Machine Copy UNCHANGED files over and over??

Okay, it seems to me that whatever files I have selected for backup are copied by Time Machine EVERY SINGLE TIME it backs up my Mac, instead of just when I make changes to them. Is that correct? If so, that just seems to be a massive waste of space on the external hard drive, and is probably the reason my 1TB drive runs out of space so quickly.
For example, I don't need 50 copies of my iTunes Library. I just need ONE copy. Time Machine should back up the music files ONCE, and if I add more songs to iTunes, it should then detect it and backup JUST the new files. Same thing with a Word document or whatever...make ONE copy of the file and then if I ALTER the file, make a copy of the ALTERED FILE.
Am I making sense here or is this just wishful thinking? Is there a way to make these types of adjustments in settings that I am missing?
    Thanks!

no, that's wrong. that would indeed be a huge waste of space. TM only backs up afresh new and changed files since the last backup. everything else is *hard linked* to existing backup copies. read up on what a hard link is.
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hard_link
that's why incremental backups take very little space and yet every single TM backup is a full and completely independent copy of your system at the backup time. and that's why you can have a lot of TM backups fit on your backup drive.

  • Copy swf files over bluetooth/infrared?

    Hi Experts,
For our Flash Lite 1.1 application we are wondering whether
or not a Flash SWF file can be shared between phones using
    bluetooth or infrared.
When we would provide a unique Flash Lite 1.1 SWF with
hardcoded serialnumber for download, is this a reasonable secure
way of protection against piracy, or are their better ways?
I know java applications can be "locked", but can SWF's be?
We can possibly maintain a serverside clients database, but
which info can we use from the telephone to identify users? IMEI?
    or the Phone number?
    Awaiting any assistence,
    Kind regards,
    Chris

Are you using built in bluetooth or a dongle ? I had problems with mine, (using a bluetooth usb dongle) on Windows 7, and to be honest don't know how it was solved ! Few times computer says installing drivers failed (although Ovi Suite would connect ok) then a few days ago bluetooth file manager started working !!!!!!!!!! Can only assume some new drivers compatible with Win7 have been released by samsung, who made my dongle. Sorry it's not a lot of help, but may be worth checking the web for bluetooth drivers for Win 7 ?
    Good Luck
ps drag and drop via usb cable is much quicker !!

  • HELP! - Error 1309 - Can't copy file over 10gig to External firewire drive.

I know this is more of a hardware issue but I know that only other final cut users would be copying single files over 10gigs.
I have a G5 that I use for video production. Video Files can be large and to back them up I got an external hard drive ( Maxtor 1-touch 200gig) When I try to copy a file on to it that is 10gigs it give me a 1309 error. I have found that other people have had trouble copying files over 2gigs over to an external firewire drive. But I haven't found any answers. Can anyone offer any advice on how to solve this?
    Thanks

If you don't want to format it for the mac, you are limited to file sizes under 2gb.
Another alternative is to hook a firewire drive to your Mac and then share it with your windows machines (the program SHAREPOINTS is useful for this).
The drive can then be formatted Mac OS Extended and, once shared, the PCs can access all files without size limitations.
    good luck.

  • Cannot Copy Files over a network

I've had a new hard drive installed in iMac by Apple, and Apple re-installed the OS, which is running 10.6.7 (all current software updates are installed). The iMac is part of a network connecting to a OS X Server 10.4.10
All of the Network Drives have been connected, the user can copy documents under 1MB to and from the server fine. However if we try to copy files over 1MB the first file will copy fine, but then no more files can be copied to the server from this machine, regardless of the size.
If i use another Mac, with the same user credentials I can copy files of any size without any issues. I have tried connecting to the Network using both the Ethernet port and Airport but I experience the same issue regardless.
If I reboot the iMac I can copy a file over 1MB again and then the symptoms re-present themselves. I have tried creating a users, new network drives, folders etc. I can connect using any user, to any of the new folders from any other machine on the network but not from this one.
When the copying fails Finder just hangs with
Copying "" to "ShareName" rather than having the name of the file, I believe this may be where the error lies.
I have also tried running the App Maintenance from Titanium Software, after running this i can copy files over the network fine, but after I have copied 10 or so files, the situation goes back to not copying files correctly.

  • Copying large files to internal HD works for a bit, then freezes

    Hello fellow Mac users,
I have a fairly heavily modified G4 Digital Audio. It was originally the 533Mhz model, then upgraded to a Dual 1.2. All in all, it is a workhorse, but I have a very strange issue that seems to be creeping up - when I copy files, particularly large ones (I originally thought greater that 4GB, but now it has happened to files that are less than 3GB). Files will start to copy just fine, then the progress bar will stop and the file transfer freezes. Sometimes I get the spinning pinwheel, sometimes not. When I press 'stop', it does nothing and I end up having to crash the machine and reboot.
I recently installed a Sonnet ATA/133 card and a large 300GB drive. The whole point of having a large drive like this is to copy large files, right? Seems that whenever I try to copy files to the new drive, the process begins and things are very quick, until it hits a particular file and then just stops.
There doesn't seem to be anything wrong with either the Sonnet ATA133 or the drive, necessarily. I've run Disk Warrior, repaired permissions, zapped PRAM and NVRAM. I've tried eliminating devices and nothing seems to really work. The new drive is a Maxtor 300GB. The jumper setting was set to 'CS Enabled'. I'm not really sure what that means. I then changed it to Master and made sure that is was the master on the ATA bus, but the problem persists either way.
I'm wondering if anyone else has had trouble copying large files (I'm sure many of you have installed large drives on a G4), if this is an anomoly, or if any of you have any advice.
    Cheers,
    Shane

Update as to how I got it to work:
I did get it to work... although it's still a little perplexing as to exactly why:
I mentioned previously that I'd switched the jumpers on the HD's from 'CS enabled' to 'Master'. This actually made things worse. Files started freezing after only copying 100MB or so. So I switched them back. Once I switched the jumpers back to 'CS enabled', things started working. I even copied over an 86GB MP3 folder in under an hour! This solution is odd, as I'm sure that this is how I had it set previously. However, maybe something wasn't connecting right or the computer was finally in the mood to do it... I don't know.. but I am grateful that it's working...

  • Copying hangs when copying large files from DVD

I'm having trouble copying large files (>2GB) from DVDs to my built-in hard drive. When I drag the file icon from the DVD window to the desktop, the progress bar pops up almost immediately, and says "0 KB of 2.3 GB copied" and "Estimated time left: 1 minute" -- and then it just sits there, doing nothing. In some cases, after five minutes or so of inactivity, the copy finally begins... but most of the time it never does. Force-Quit doesn't help; the only way out is to do an emergency restart and try again.
This problem began when I upgraded to Tiger, and several members of my office group have been experiencing the same problem on their own computers as well.
I've poked around the forum looking for answers but the only thing I could find that looked related was a conflict between iSight and some third-party external hard drives... but none of us have iSight, and none of us are using third-party external drives, so clearly that's not the issue we'rehaving.
    Any help out there?

  • OS X 10.4.7 server: Samba leaking ram when copying large files from windows

    Hi.
    I'm having problems with:
Copying files from windows clients to OS X Server 10.4.7 uses up the RAM needed for the files to be copied.
If I copy a 3GB file, it uses 3GB of RAM
If I copy a 5GB file, it uses its 4GB of RAM, plus VM.
If I copy 11GB of files (that is several little files, plus some big by dropping a folder to the share), it consumes all the RAM the machine has, and because of VM paging, whatever other clients are reading from the disk (XRaid) start to have hiccups.
The RAM of the machine NEVER gets flushed after the copying has finished. So Samba is unusable as it is. I have four Xserves with 4GB of RAM, with 4 XRaids connected each one to each Xserve with its Apple Fiber Channel card and cables.
I already did the ack=0 thing, got the size of inet.tcp.sendspace and rcvspace to 8388608 and the buffer to 16777216.
The transfers rates are up to 70MB/s with 2 channel 1gb trunking, and at very sustained rates..
We are using these to edit video content (DV 25) in Sony Vegas with 2 or 3 clients for each server.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks very much.

  • Can't copy large files to AirPort Disk Using Windows 7

    Hi Everyone,
I'm positng because I'm unable to copy large files to an AirPort Disk using Windows 7.  I have the following setup.
    AirPort Extreme:
    - Firmware version: 7.6.1
    - Airport disks secured by password
    - No guest access allowed
    - Airport Disk Preferences:
      - Automatically discover airport disks is enabled
      - Show Airport Disks in the system tray is enabled
    External Drive:
    - Western Digital 500 GB MyBook External Drive connected to Airport Extreme thru USB
    - FAT32 Formated
    Computers:
    - 2 Toshiba Proteges, Both with 4GB RAM
    - Both have Windows 7 Home Premium with Service Pack 1, 64-bit version
    - (Sorry we have no MacBooks at home, just iPhones and iPods!)
    Airport Utility:
    - Version  5.6.1
    Airport Disk Preferences Utility:
    - Version  1.5.5.3
A week ago, I was able to copy over large files (videos <4GB in size) to the drive.  Now, when I try to copy over these large files to the drive, the copy dialog box hangs.  I receive a message stating that Windows is calculating the size, but then it doesn't copy over.  Windows then gives me a message that it is unable to copy to the drive.  When I test the drive connection by copying a small text file over, it copies over quickly and seamlessly.  This problem occurs on both computers.
I am able to do the following with the drive connection:
    - Read files
    - Change file names
    - Copy files from the drive to my computer
    - See the contents of drive
I've tried all the combinations of the following with no success:
    - Turning off Windows Search
    - Downgrading the firmware
    - Reconfiguring wireless adapter
    - Rebooting computer
    - Rebooting wireless router
    - Rebooting external drive
The drive seems to be working fine except for when I want to copy <2GB files over to the drive.  Does anyone have a solution that seems to work?
    Thanks!

I'm happy to report that, after reformatting the drive to HFS+ (aka Mac OS Extended), there are no problems writing/copying large or small files to the AirDisk drive.  I'm also happy to report that I am copying to the drive at a rate of roughly 4MB/s.
As I mentioned earlier, the only catch is that I am unable to plug the external drive directly into a Windows computer via the USB port as Windows is unable to read HFS+ formatted drives.  (I can, however, plug the drive into a Mac computer as they can read HFS+ formatted drives.  The only problem is that I don't own any Macs at this time!  LOL!)
You're probably wondering how I formatted the external drive to HFS+ since I don't own any Macs.  (Windows only allows you to format drives in exFAT, FAT, NTFS and the like.)  That is a good question.  Basically, I downloaded an open source formatting tool called, Gparted, which allows you to format any USB drive to any major file format system.  Since Gparted is an open source tool, it is a little cumbersome to use. Once you figure out how to use it, it is a cinch to format the drive to HFS+.  (Of course, an easier method would be to borrow a friend's mac, plug the drive into their mac, and format it to HFS+ using their mac.)
For a step-by-step guide on how to solve this problem, see the steps below:
    1) Backup all data from external drive
        a) Fortunately, I have a 1TB ultraportable USB drive which has enough space to backup all data on the drive
    2) Format the external drive to HFS+ using one of the methods below
        a) Plug it into a Mac and format it
         b) Use Gparted (free) to format it
    3) Plug the drive back into the Airport Extreme
    4) Start copying files over to your networked drive!
I hope this helps you! Cheers!

  • How do I copy MP4 files onto my IPad while travelling?

    Hello all
I picked up my first IPad through work last week, and am still familiarising myself with the device. What I did manage to do is connect it to ITunes on my home computer and copy all of our childrens TV shows onto the device for our daughter to watch, and it all went smoothly.
I have a question regarding this process however. I tend to watch a lot of TV shows, and in most cases I wait until after the season is finished and pick up the boxed set, so that I can watch it when I want, without commercials. What I then do is convert them to (unprotected) MP4 files that I then usually copy to my PS3 to watch them on our TV. Just as a test, I copied a few onto the IPad and they look great, I could easily see myself using this device to watch shows while travelling.
However, our IPad is only 16 gigs, and in longer trips I would probably want to take more shows than that would allow. I also have a 1 Terrabyte portable harddrive though, that I can fit ample amount of shows on.
At the moment I have only connected the IPad to one computer running ITunes, which is my PC at home. However lets assume I was travelling, and had both my external hard drive and IPad. What would be the best solution for copying movies from that external harddrive to the IPad to allow me to watch additional shows?  Unless I'm mistaken, I can have up to 5 computers authorised with my account.  Would it in theory be possible to find a PC, authorise it to my Ipad, copy the files over and then deauthorise that PC?  Or if not, what is the recommended solution?
Apologies if this is common knowledge, I'm still a newbie.

Even though you can have your iTunes account authorized on 5 computers your iPad can only be linked to one computer. If you used another computer to copy your content from your external drive you would have to Restore the iPad with the computer erasing all other data. The process will allow you to backup then Restore to that back up but it will not contain any of the media files you wish to keep on the iPad. This is why it is important to get the most storage on an iOS device you can afford.
You might want to look at something like Kingston's Wi-Drive which is an external drive your iPad can access through wifi. http://www.kingston.com/us/usb/wireless#wid I don't think it has any integration with iTunes but you could put a copy of the videos you wish to take with you then play them on it it's app.
