Trouble copying sequences: What am I missing?
I'm new (as some of you have inferred) to FCP.
Here's the situation:
I have two sequences.
Seq1: Opening
Seq2: The rest of the clips
Both have audio and video.
I try to drag/drop the Opening sequence from the browser to the timeline in the second sequence and it does so, but includes only the video, not the audio portions of the sequence.
So I tried it in reverse (droping seq 2 onto the end of the timeline of seq 1) and got the same results--video only, no audio.
What doesn't the audio get copied?
I also noticed if I try to drop a sequence between two clips, I get the little "X" (don't try that here) icon appearing on the mouse pointer. Why's that?

Connected means it will edit that media into the track it is connected to. Unconnect means it won't. It simulates a patch bay as in hard patch equipment.
These are very very basic nonlinear edit things, you'd be well served to do a few tutorials and spend some time in the manual. As much as no one likes to read the manual you will learn a lot of necessary info there. Good luck.

You know that you lost the layers when you saved it as a jpeg, right? But you're saying you can't add layers to the jpeg now when it's open in the editor? Go to Image>mode and be sure it's RGB, for starters. Are all the commands in the Layer menu grayed out?

Thank you so much for providing the details about the duplicate song issue you are experiencing. It sounds like you would like to remove the duplicate songs that will not play on your iPhone, but when you connect it to iTunes, iTunes only shows you one copy of the song on your iPhone.
In this situation, I recommend deleting the individual songs that do not play directly from your iPhone. I found the steps to do this on page 61 of the iPhone User Guide (http://manuals.info.apple.com/en_US/iphone_user_guide.pdf):
Delete a song from iPhone: In Songs, swipe the song, then tap Delete.

Working on keyframes in a copied sequence changes the original sequence as well (Premiere Pro CS5.5)
Hi everyone,
maybe this is a very basic question, but the search in the forum didn't bring up any related questions, so here i go:
Let's say, i copy a sequence in Premiere Pro CS5.5 and paste it in the same project. I have some textclips with keyframes in them. (I do this, because the videos stay the same, i just write different things into them. When i change the keyframes in the copied sequence the way i need them there and then go back to the original sequence, the keyframes there were changed as well. This is not what i wanted.
My question therefore is: How can i make a copy of one sequence and then work on it without changing the original one at the same time? Why are they linked anyway? Is that just a selection in my version of Premiere Pro or is that a general thing?
Would be great, if someone could explain that to me.
thanks!If you have not done the New Title Based on Current Title, what you have are Instances of that Title, and they are all linked to the original Title. Make a change, and it is global to all Instances. This is very useful, if for instance, you have a typo. Say that you have used the old Western moivie cliche Title "Meanwhile Bock at the Ranch," a dozen times, only to discover the typo. You only have to correct "Bock" to "Back" one time, and it corrects all Instances of that Title.
With New Title Based on Current Title, you have separate, individual, and un-linked Titles, so any change will ONLY affect the Instances of THAT Title.
While the Instances can be very useful, one can be easily confused, when a change to one Instance affects all others.

i got a message in gmail "this version of Safari is no longer supported. Pls upgrade to a supported browser." When I click on 'supported browser' it takes me to Apple's Safari site but there is no 'upgrade now' button. What am I missing?
Google seem to have decided in the last week or so that Safari 5.x, which is the newest Safari version available for Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) and 10.6 (Snow Leopard) is "not supported" any more, even though there are many reasons for staying with these OS X versions.
Try this (at your own risk, but it works for me), as it seems to remove the message by tricking Gmail into thinking your Safari version is newer:

-- Drag the file to your Mac's desktop to make a copy. Also make a safe copy somewhere else eg your Documents folder, as if you lose or mess up the file Safari will not launch at all. Having a backup browser is also recommended.
-- Double-click it to open it in TextEdit
-- Locate the CFBundleVersion value (the last line in the file that has numbers in it) and increment the second digit of it to the required version of Safari e.g. Safari 6 now seems to be the minimum version that Google support so change the second number from 5 to 6 (don't change anything else, only the change the second number). The value is different depending on your OS X version but as an example, for Snow Leopard 6534.59.10 becomes 6634.59.10
-- Drag the file back from the desktop to its original location, choose the option to replace the old version, and enter your password when prompted.
-- Run a permissions repair in Disk Utility to set the permissions in the file back to what they should be (not required, but good practice).

I have followed Mozilla recommendations for migration, MacRumors recommendations, and others as well. Even the Apple store was unsuccessful. Everything I read suggests that this is straightforward. What am I missing? I have copied my xxx.default file into Profile folder on Mac. Nothing. I have copied my Profile folder in-place of the Mac Profile folder. I have copied the contents of Profile into the Mac profile folder. I have upgraded my PC Thunderbird and then copied the contents of Profile into the Mac Profile. All produce zero data in my Mac inbox. Any thoughts would be most appreciated. Thank you!

I am trying to restore my playlists that disappeared yesterday. I have followed the instrutions on the support page but when I get to step 7, I can't find File>Library>Import Playlists. What am I missing?
I suspect the menus have changeed slightly since that document was written...
Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping. Note that in iTunes 11 an "empty" library may show your past purchases with links to stream or download them.
In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
Alternatively, depending on exactly when and why the library went missing, there may be a more recent .tmp file in the main iTunes folder that can be copied & renamed as iTunes Library.itl to restore the library to an earlier state. Look for a recent .tmp file that is similar in size to the .itl files in the Previous iTunes Libraries folder. If it has happened repeatedly you may want the earliest such file generated since the last iTunes upgrade.
If applicable, see iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
When you get it all working make a backup!
Should you be in the unfortunate position where you are no longer able to access your original library, or a backup of it, then see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.
I've noticed more of these missing library posts of late and a common factor to most since I started asking is AVG Anti-Virus. It seems in some cases it might be at least part of the reason why the library file disappears. Try excluding the iTunes folder from any AV scanning process.

I am trying to insert a cutaway photo into a movie clip. The cuaway photo appears over the clip and will appear in the clip when you manually moce the curser across it, but will not appear in the clip during playback. What am I missing?
Try using the SHARE menu to share your movie in the sizes you need. It should work on the shared copy.
Another thing to try would be to restart your Mac so you have fresh memory. -

In your case, you can get some output from mkfld32from schema by changing xs: to xsd: in the schema file. The command sed 's!xs:!xsd:!g' <template.xsd | mkfld32fromschema -b 200 -o jimbo will write the following to jimbo:

Trouble with Sequence of Product Allocation Procedures in GATP

I have created two allocation procedures. ZATP1, ZATP2. The expected result is the total quantity confirmed by ZATP1 + ZATP2. In the ATP simulation, I am getting only the output confirmed by procedure ZATP1. The following are my settings.
1. Created a procedure ZATP1 : I checked this individually in simulation and it is working
2. Created another procedure ZATP2 : I checked this individually in simulation and it is working
3. Created a "Sequence of Product Allocation Procedure ZSEQ" containing allocation procedure ZATP2.
4. In the product master "ATP" tab I have updated , "Allocation Procedure" =ZATP1 and Procedure Seq = ZSEQ.
Can any one you tell me what I am missing to achieve this business requirement? Any one faced a similar problem ? We are in SCM 5.0

To replicate the scenario :
We have two organizations who can make the allocation. Both are independent and shouldn't distrub each other. (Only production allocation check is configured in the check instructions).
The planning area I maintained are
<b>ZDP01 :</b> CVC : Allocation object :ZATP1 , Commerical model : A100 , Customer : 1000
For Oct : total allocation : 2000 Consumed :800
For Nov : total allocation : 1000
<b>ZDP02 :</b> CVC : Allocation object :ZATP2, Commerical model : A100 , Customer : 1000
For Oct : total allocation : 500 Consumed :300
For Nov : total allocation : 500
THe customer "1000" is now placing an order of 1250: He should get confirmation in oct because 1200 can be given up by ZATP1 and 50 can be given by ZATP2.
The result I am getting via ATP simulation is 1200: Oct and 50 Nov. (Both consumed against ZATP1):

How come all my Adobe SDK apps crash hard? What am I missing?
I believe I have copied carefully the statements included with the Adobe SDK. In all my apps, my code is enclosed as follows:

I hate to tell you this, but I tried the "DURING, HANDLER; END_HANDLER" constructs, in several variations, taking the code from the examples, and the result is that the application crashes as soon as it hits the "DURING". :-(

What I really miss.... is a smart clipboard
Using Apple as a Linux KDE-user, there are certain things that work differently and that one has to get used to. It's just the way it is. But there are also things that one really experiences as a handicap. In this discussion, I would like to talk about things that feel like a downgrade to me.
What I really miss is a smart clipboard
Having recently started using Apple in my work as a LAMP-developer, one of those handicaps is that the clipboard in Snow Leopard is nowhere to be compared with Klipper. Its functionality is as limited as the Windows clipboard (which I don't consider something to be proud of). The main differences are:
- automatic copying/cutting of selected text to the clipboard
- pasting with a simple mouse click
- clipboard history
- system tray icon
Working mainly with text files, you can imagine my handicap when having to open the context menu with the mouse twice (or press Ctrl-C and Ctrl-V) each time I want to copy or cut some text. It seems so unnecessary actions.
Looking around on the net, there are many people who ask for these features. A lot of tools try to fill in the gaps, but all of them I have tried don't even come near Klipper. I think it's time for Apple developers to solve it.

Prince of NaxosMore than a simple clipboard is likely to confuse novice users. Most people using a computer are not technically-savvy. IMHO, in cases like this where many people won't even know what they're missing and might even wish it would go away if they did have it, it's best to let the third-party software companies take care of it. When I think about some of the folks whose computers I support - some of whom can't figure out basic things like how to eject a disk or where the Word file they just saved is - I cringe at the idea of how to explain to them how to use a more sophisticated clipboard.
In any case, though, debating whether Apple should implement something is not really appropriate material for these forums. Speculation or discussion of Apple policies is forbidden here, as it's not in keeping with the purpose of this site and tends to lead to some very heated interchanges, and this thread is close to that line. -
I'm able to transfer iPhotos from Mac to MacPro but data I've added to photos does not transfer. What am I missing? Tried using Thunderbolt, AirDrop, Flash drive with no success. Do I have to use iCloud for 800 vacation photos or re-enter all the data after transfer?
There is no support for mirroring or syncing iPhoto libraries or Aperture libraries. You can however export partial Aperture libraries on one mac and merge them into other libraries on a second Mac.
To transfer your edited photos open your photolibrary in Aperture and and collect the edited photos in an album. Then select the album and use the command "File export > Album as new library". This will export all edited photos as a new Aperture library. Copy this library to your other Mac and import it with "File < Import > Library to your other photolibrary on that computer (assuming you are having the same Aperture version on both macs). When merging the new library into your Aperture library, opt to keep the newer versions from the imported library. iPhoto 9.5.1 will be able to open these merged Aperture 3.5.1 libraries. -
I am trying to activate Photo Stream in the ICloud Settings. It says I need to update IPhoto, which I have done (9.4.2 update), which I have done. It still won't accept me checking it. What am I missing? Just trying to get current with Photo Strream capabilities.
