Trouble copying videos to ipod

when i connect my ipod to my computer, it updates my songs fine, but but it wont put my new videos on. i dont get an error message or anything, i just look in my videos on my ipod and they arent there...
i know they're the right format, because i even told itunes to convert them, but it said they were already the right format. I dont understand why they arent copying when everything else will

I have the exact same problem. In my case I had them on my Ipod and one day, pluff!!! They disappeared from my Ipod but not from my itunes, where I can display them fine.
What´s going on!!! why isn´t my ipod updating videos???
I know from other discussion forums in Spain that this problem happens quiet often.

  • Trouble Uploading Videos To iPod Nano via iTunes

I am having trouble uploading videos to my new iPod Nano (4th Gen? The new Nano-chromatic one). I have the latest iTunes version (iTunes 8), and have followed all the Help topics related to this problem. When I have converted the video (which i have downloaded to my computer from a DVD I have purchased of the TV Series "Black Books") to the iPod friendly format (following the advice from the iTunes Help section) I then try to 'click and drag' the converted movie file into my iPod under the Devices heading, a window pops up saying:
""BLACK_BOOKS Movie 01" was not copied to the iPod because it cannot be played on this iPod."
This confuses me as all the tech specs about the new iPod nanos say that they are able to play videos. And considering as how I have converted the file to one supposedly supported by the iPod I do not understand why it can't be copied to, and then played by my iPod.
I have followed all the Help sections as suggested and the problem is still NOT resolved.
    Can anyone help?

    I had the same problem.
First you need to download handbrake http://handbrake.fr/?article=download
Then run the file through it, and the output file will work with your chromatic.

  • ITunes 6.0.5 copying video to iPod regardless of settings

I'm having a problem with my video iPod and the latest (6.0.5) version of iTunes.
Regardless of my iPod settings within iTunes, the program insists on copying all of my video tracks to my iPod. Manually deleting them and re-updating as well as disabling copying of podcasts/video files in the iTunes preferences don't seem to have any effect. On the subsequent iPod update, the video files will be copied to the iPod again.
Any idea what's going on? I wasn't having this problem before the latest iTunes update.

  • Trouble playing videos, slow iPod

I have filled my iPod with lots of audio and video podcasts, and music from CDs, and some data, with only 500 MB free memory.
iPod is very slow to respond to the click wheel or other buttons. Sometimes a song does starts to play only in 5 seconds or more, not immediately. This did not happen when the iPod was new (i.e. emptier). This is annoying.
I have more trouble with video. Some videos do not start playing at all, or start only sometimes. Sometimes some video podcasts of the same podcast subscription play, and some do not. I assume all are in the same format.
I have formatted the iPod for Windows to use it sometimes as hard drive on a PC and charging, but iTunes is running on a Mac. I have not reset my iPod for some time.
My guess is that the iPod cannot handle a full hard drive and a big podcast and music library. But it's just a guess.
    Any suggestions?

    I have the same problem. . . i think.
When i click on the name of the movie on my ipod video, 30 gbs, only the line of how long the movie has played, and a tiny picture of the movie will show up. The same with music videos and that stuff.
    But the sound works perfectly.
    Thank you!

  • Trouble putting videos on iPod

I have a 30GB Video iPod, and I recently took some videos with my digi camera and wanted to put them on my iPod so I can watch whenever. The format is a format iTunes recognizes (.MOV format...and it opens with Quicktime). I have it in my movie list on iTunes, and I can click on it, and it will play fine. But as soon as I go to sync all the songs and the videos to my iPod I get this message:
"Some of the videos in your iTunes library, including the video "Sonny being tested with a stick and plastic bag", were not copied to the iPod....because they cannot be played by this iPod."
How come I can play it in iTunes, but it says I can't play it on my iPod? How can I make it so I can play it on my iPod? Thanks!!!!!

I have the same problems with you.
    Same 30GB 5G iPod.
So if you are familar with the iPod supported formats, you will know clearly about this.
And I just put the *+Pavtube Video Converter+* converted H.264 mp4 format to my iPod.
Same message with you "can't play video on the iPod.

  • Copying video to ipod

OK---I have done what I feel is a relatively thorough search for my issue, and I did find a thread where someone asked the exact same question I have, but there was never a reply. That post was about a month ago, I believe.
    I'm running WinXP Pro on a P4 2.81GHz HT, 1.0GB RAM, 400 GB HD, Asus P4P800S motherboard.
I have the 60GB video ipod
I have the newest Itunes software, but I have not upgraded to the 1.1 ipod update that everyone keeps mentioning---I am still 1.0
I have quicktime pro 7.0.4, and also a program called xilisoft mp4 converter---that can take files, and as one of the options, convert them to something that supposedly can be read by the ipod (which, I've found, isn't the case---but it allows quicktime and itunes to convert to a format that should be able to copy to the ipod. I might note that some of the video files (many in divx format, .mpeg)--and these files often will not open in quicktime---thus I used xilisoft's program to convert them to a format quicktime can work with.
The problem I have is that sometimes, some videos after converting, when I try to copy them from the video folder to my ipod, I get the error that it can't be copied b/c it can't be played on my ipod---even though I converted the videos using the exact same settings for other videos that work fine.
I also tried using itunes' video conversion tool (convert selection for ipod, and then try to copy over the converted file, but same problem). The only format that my player seems to want to accept is .m4v, and even when I encode (as mentioned above) a few files using the exact same settings that worked for the others, I still get the error.
Please share your thoughts on this.
    Thanks

Hi CMount, give this program a try. It's my main support column for video conversion for the IPOD. Download the trial. Get it on line or in one of the places listed.

  • Having trouble syncing video to Ipod Classic 160GB

    Hi all,
Finally moved up to an Ipod after a few too many years with other brands...and am really enjoying the Ipod/Itunes combo for music.
Video's a different matter, though, and I could use your help!
I'm trying to get a few videos onto my Classic, and have converted them into MP4 format and put them in the "Movies" folder in Itunes (they show up alongside every video I've shot on my digital camera). My Ipod is set to sync automatically, and does so for music, but not for video. I was able to get the videos on using the instructions I found on http://www.ehow.com/how4925922download-videos-onto-ipod-classic.html , but the next time I synced music on my Ipod, it removed the videos I'd added.
Is there a way that I could add videos manually, and keep syncing music automatically, without the automatic syncing removing things that I added manually? Or could I set Itunes/Ipod up such that music is automatically queued for syncing, while videos need to be approved for syncing?
Basically, how can I get this to work?
    Many thanks for your help.

    Hello stopheles,
    And welcome to Apple Discussions!
How do you currently have your iPod set up to sync Videos? What settings do you have enabled from under the Videos tab for your iPod in iTunes? Specifically, the "Automatically sync (Select Option Here, e.g. all) movies" option on this tab.

  • Help!  Trouble transferring videos to iPod

Hi! I really need some help here, I e-mailed the iTunes store and called tech support and neither one helped.
I have a Dell Inspiron 8600 laptop computer with Windows XP and a Fifth Generation 30 GB video iPod. I purchased a season of television shows from the iTunes music store and I can't transfer them on top my iPod. They play on my computer just fine. I also downloaded a podcast with some video episodes which transferred to my iPod just fine. Some of the earlier episodes had to be converted for the iPod but then worked afterwards.
Also, whenever I click into the Video tab of the ipod settings, the button is clicked that says do not transfer video and it does not let me click anywhere else.
    Any suggestions?!?!

    Hey there!
Go back to File > Preferenes > iPod > Video
If the "Do Not Transfer Video" option has a checkmark next to it, you should be able to click on the checkmark to remove it.
    Let me know what happens...

  • Trouble exporting videos to ipod

i have quicktime pro and when i export a video to itunes and to my ipod it doesnt have audio. i have tried with different formats as mpeg, mov, but nothing change. what can i do ?

QuickTime Pro can't (never did) export audio from muxed track formatted files (MPEG 1 or 2 formats).
MPEG Streamclip 1.5.1 can export (to iPod settings for .mp4 files) or convert your MPEG-1 file to QT formats.
The software is free. Try it.

  • Trouble copying music from iPod to external HD. Please read.....

I downloaded Ipod Disk to transfer music from iPod to external HD and am having trouble. About 40 minutes into transfer, I get an error message. Some music can't be read. Are those the cds I have on my iPod that friends burned for me (as apposed to store/iTunes bought cds)? Is there a way around this?

If you are on a mac...
    http://wbyoung.ambitiouslemon.com/senuti/
Go to iTunes-->preferences and hit the advanced tab. Change the music store location to the external drive. Click ok. It should transfer the songs there.
    Does that work?
Also, I doubt it is a problem with the songs. (It could be, but it is probably the program. Senuti and YamiPod work (I have tried them))

  • Trouble copying audiobooks to iPod

I recently bought a load of audiobooks off itunes and played them on my iPod. Last week I bought a new iPod and for some reason I cant copy my audiobooks onto my iPod. There is no error, they just wont copy. A friend of mine says that this is because of the DRM that apple has put on, which I really dont understand as Im not doing anything illegal here (or am I?), besides what is the point of this DRM nonsense anyway - I paid for the product rather then download it illegally and now Im being punished? I shouldn't have to spend several hours trying to figure this out, its just so incredibly frustrating - basically I will never ever buy another apple product or purchase a song legally because of this. Sorry if it sounds a little ranty, some help would really be well appreciated.

On the new iPod, do you have the checkbox set to include audiobooks?

  • Trouble copying libray to iPod

I am trying to sync the songs we purchased on iTunes to my daughter's iPod, and I get this message....."Some of the items were not copied to iPod because you are not authorized to play them on this computer". Is this a security issue? What can I do? Thanks!

Play one of the songs in iTunes you purchased that won't go onto the iPod.
If this doesn't work, go into iTunes, go to the Store menu on top, Deauthorize your computer, play one of the songs you purchased and when prompted enter your Apple ID and password.
