Trouble creating a pdf converting Word doc ..."Could not find the application that created the file"
Hello,
I am working with Acrobat Pro 8 and am trying to create a pdf by converting a word doc. When I try that, I keep getting an error message, " Could not find the application that created this file...please select a file created by an application that resides on your computer." I can always convert a word into pdf first and then insert it into the pdf project that I am working on, however I have multiple files and I really would like to bypass that long step.
I found another thread in this forum which talks about a simillar issue (http://forums.adobe.com/thread/429585).I tried the solution suggested there by Bill@vt regarding the print menu. I am not really sure if t have distiller installed, so I tried opening it in acrobat, but it failed. During the process, I got the follwing message "Check the Status column for a list of files that could not be printed".I do not have any clue how to check for AcroTray running in the background.
I would really appreciate any help.
Thanks!
If Distiller failed to open, it sounds like you need to do a repair of your Acrobat installation. Have not heard that one before!

Hi !
If you've got the latest version of flash, the message should
says
something like "could not find the file flash8b.ocx" instead
of
"flash.ocx" (who is, it seems, flash 7.0).
I suspect, once again, that registry rights are broken.
Try this script :

Post 10.3: Could not find the file "hw.kb" to install.
I'm getting this error on my 10.3 clients.
"Could not find the file "hw.kb" to install"
I think this is the April PRU...I have applied the post 10.3 fix and this is still not working :/
Full Message:
GenericActions.FileCouldNotBeFound{hw.kb}
Message ID: GenericActions.FileCouldNotBeFound
Related Objects: /System/System Bundles/102d38812c9437a05ee01e8bc93369f0This was not related to the 10.3 update, atleast not directly.
I deleted the April PRU in system updates, checked for updates, and reapplied.
This solved my issue. -
Error: Could not find the file "flash.ocx"
I have been receiving the error COULD NOT FIND THE FILE
"FLASH.OCX" for the past couple of months - I have been watching
the message boards and have seen a lot of "fixes" and beta's come
up errors (not sure that it's this exact error though).
I get this error continuously throughout the day - no matter
if I have nothing running on my computer or I have 10 things open.
This morning it occurred to me that my screen saver is not coming
on and it seems to me that the above errror is popping up everytime
my screen saver should start. I HAVE TIMED THIS TODAY AND CHANGED
HOW LONG BEFORE MY SCREEN SAVER STARTS - AND IT IS DEFINITELY
GETTING THE ERROR EVERYTIME THE SCREEN SAVER IS TRYING TO START.
Last week, I deleted the version of Flash that I had and then
re-installed; still getting the error.
I was getting the error when I had IE6 so I thought maybe
switching to IE7 would correct it - but it didn't (that was a few
weeks ago).
My computer does not freeze up but it is SOOO annoying to
continually throughout the day get this error.

PLEASE HELP!Ah-ah! The workaround is to map my network folder to a drive, say... M:\
So, when I select Edit->Edit in Audition->Sequence, I can select the Browse button to alter the Path destination. Instead of seeing '\\Zeus\Projects\...', I select the mapped M: drive so the path reads 'M:\Projects\...' instead.
Then, Audition loads and is able to find the sequence or clip.
So... that solves my problem! -
Where do I find in my iMAC the files I tranfered from my PC using the Migration Assistant. I could not find a setting to what folder I could to set to transfer it before I started to transfer.
Migration Assistant creates a new user on your system and puts the files in that users home folder. Setup Assistant would transfer the files into the user folder of the user account created when originally setting up your Mac. Setup Assistant is what runs when you first turn on and setup your Mac and Migration Assistant is in the Utilities folder inside the Applications folder.

I have restored one web application in SharePoint Server 2010 from a different domain and can complete successfully. Changed each users domain also to old to new one by using Move-SPUser. But While accessing the site collection it is showing an error
that "Could not load file or assembly 'A##.SP.Intranet, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=03b4f320ebedaffc' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified."
What may be the reason? Please help me to solve this issue since I am stuck up on this .

Thank you for your reply. But
how can I find out the custom solutions in the source farm. I didn't got any other details regarding this farm other than WSS_Content, Web application Database, SharePoint_Config database back ups.
Please help me to solve the

I don't have many issues... but when I do it is usually a bad one.
I took my CRM 2013 install running on Server 2008 and did an upgrade to server 2012 R2. No issues. All updates applied. From there I run the CRM 2015 installer to run the upgrade..... Yes, running as admin, and after the "Pre Flight
Check" everything is good. From there the install starts to copy files..... I get this error.
00:16:43| Info| CrmAction execution time; BackupUpgradeDataAction; 00:00:03.0020974

at Microsoft.Crm.Setup.Shared.CrmAction.ExecuteAction(CrmAction action, IDictionary parameters, Boolean undo)
I am finding no references to this issue any where. Looking for suggestions. It appears that this file does not actually exist. Somewhere during the upgrade maybe it got deleted. I have put an old web.config file in this
path, rebooted everything and still get the same error.
Looking for some suggestions.
Pierre HulsebusSounds like a problem with the information about where the Crm website is installed. Crm uses 2 registry values 'website' and 'websitepath' under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MSCRM. Do these look correct, and is the Crm website under c:\inetpub\wwwroot,
or elsewhere ?
The last part of the 'website' value is the website id, which you can see in IIS Manager

I need help here. Saved events/projects are not visible or listed when I reopen FCP X. Tried to open from the event folder don't seem to work.
I'm using MacOS X 10.6.8 and just bought FCP X 10.1.
Help.No. I'm not using two hard drives. Files saved on MacBook Pro HDD. Only time I use the second HD is for backup but while working on FCP X.
This is unclear.
Do you have another HD with FCP X projects and / or events?
If you do (whether it's a backup or not) it will cause the exact problem you described. Make sure any other drives with FCP X events or projects are turned off before you launch FCP X.
If you don't have a second drive with events or projects, I suggest you try trashing your preferences.
Faults like this can sometimes be fixed by clearing out FCP X's preferences (for some reason, they get knotted up from time to time).
Download Digital Rebellion's Preference Manager (free, simple to use, and quite safe).
http://www.digitalrebellion.com/prefman/
With Pref Manager, you can backup the Prefs first, then if trashing makes no difference, you can restore all your settings.
If you trash them and don't restore them, you will need to go over your FCP X settings again, so it's a great idea to backup Preferences from time to time when FCP X is working well, then you can ditch the bad prefs and restore from your (Digital Rebellion) backup.

I'm getting very frustrated whenever I return to work on the video to find the file 'missing'. I know its there but it's just not showing up on the Event Browser. Sigh!!
How come you marked your own post as "Correct Answer" when all it does is tell Bob he's wrong? This will mislead people.

"Could not find the application that created this file" error when trying to combine files
I am working with a user that is trying to combine a pdf & word doc (docx). When they try to combine the files she gets the error: "Could not find the application that created this file" & "Please select a file created by an application that resides on your computer". The computer is running windows XP, with office 2010 SP1, & Adobe Acrobat Pro X.
Per previous suggestions, I have already checked to see if Adobe PDFMaker is enabled as a Word plugin, and it is.
Recentley the user was running Acrobat 6, and this error did not occur. It is only after upgrading to Acrobat X that this is happening. Any help with this issue would be appreciated. This can also be caused if the files are in a folder deep in the file system. For example C:/xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx/yyyyyyyyyyyyyyy/zzzzzzz/aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa/bbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbb /cccccccccccccccccccc/dddddddddddddddd/eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee/ffffffff/ggggggg/hhhhhhhhhhhhh hhhhhhhhhh/myPDF.pdf
At some point Adobe PDFMaker cannot handle the path length (also, Windows can't handle the path length either eventually)
Solution: move the files to a shorther path (perhaps the desktop) and try from there.
I am filing a bug report with Adobe. A descriptive exception message should be thrown instead of "could not file the app.." -
Could Not Find The Application That Created This File
Hello Community,
I have already been to the Acrobat forum with this post and they re-directed me to this forum.
My problem seems to be with a InDesign file that will not export to a PDF, nor can I create the PDF from within Acrobat itself. BTW I have Acrobat 8.1.6 on a Vista OS.
Here is what I've done thus far:
restarted my computer, which didn't correct anything
printed the InDesign file to the PDF printer unsuccessfully
Checked for InDesign and Acrobat updates and found I'm current with the updates
Please NOTE: I have no problem with creating a PDF with either a Word or Illustrator file; it's the InDesign file that's giving me a problem. The message I get when I try to export from within InDesign to a PDF file is "Could not find the application that created this file; please select a file created by an application that resides on your computer."
Please help. Thank you very much.Hi John,
Before replying to you, I decided to give it another go. This time out, I
was finally able to export the InDesign file, which I created, to a PDF.
Hooray!
I have found, in the past, that restarting my computer will clear something
in my system, and then I can create the PDF. Sometimes this inability to
create a PDF happens in Word. But this time around it was InDesign that was
the problem file.
Maybe it has something to do with the preferences menu. I'll have to check
this out. Otherwise, all is fine. Thanks for answering.--Pat -

Create New gives an error "Could not find the user document directory"
Fresh installed Adobe Edge Animate CC (2014). When I try to Create New, I get an Error popup "Could not find the user document directory"
I think this worked!
I just downloaded an example file and tried opening from outside of the program. At first it gave me some errors but then loaded it up.
After that I've re-saved it and now I can create new files and open files.
Before that I also uninstalled old CC programs that were not showing in the Adobe Creative Cloud apps. -
I tried to follow the instruction of buying iphone apps without a credit card. I follow the steps and I selected United States, but when I fill up the credit card info, i could not find the word "None". Anyone know what should I do?
When you tried to contact Support with the card's images how were you trying to do it, on your phone or a browser on your computer ? And have you tried a different browser to see if you get the same error message ?
As well as images of the card they might also want an image of its receipt.
And to contact Support you were using : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ , and clicked on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then iTunes Cards And Codes ? -
I had worked on the Illustrator CC 2014 with 19 slices of PDF presentation file for my assignment even in 15 minutes ago, and before closing it previous time, I have saved the file, and restarted my laptop, tried to open the PDF file again, but the message of "Could not open the file" was appeared each time I have tried to open it. I wonder what is wrong with it. And I do really have to working on it right now. Here I am attaching the pictures and please solve this problem. Thank you
Does it open in Acrobat?
Did it really complete saving? Or did it crash or did you abort the saving process?
In case you can open it in Acrobat, the PDF part of the file is still intact. Then you could create a niew file in Illustrator and place your file in it. Of course then most editing features will be lost, but at least you've got the content.
