Trouble Creating Business rules from EAS

Hi All,
I am new to Essbase and Planning. I am facing trouble creating Business rules from EAS. Every time I click on Business rules it shows login failed...

Hi,
Welcome! I believe it could be an access issue. Take a look at this: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12825_01/epm.111/hbr_admin_help/ch03s02s01.html
I would also check the provisioning. Here are the Business Rules roles: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12825_01/epm.111/epm_security/apas08.html
Hope it helps.

  • Error accessing Business Rules from EAS

    Hi,
I am using EPM System 11 and trying to access Business Rules via Essbase Adminstration Services Console (EAS). When I open up the Business Rules node from Enterprise View, and select Repository View > Rules, a list of all the Business Rules is displayed. However, when I try to click on one to open it in the editor, I received an error message from EAS the reads:
Business Rules Error. Error creating DBUserGrpObjLinkTable. Cannot continue.
When I click Get Detail, it just displays Detail: null. This occurs when trying to open any of the Business Rules. In the past I have had no problem creating, editing, and launching business rules from EAS.
I am still able to successfully launch the Business Rules I have already created and assigned to my Planning application FROM the Planning Web Application, but I am not able to edit them or create any new ones in EAS. Does anyone know what has happened to cause this error? It appears as if something happen to the one of the tables in the relational database that was configured during the installation of the EPM system? I can provide more detail if necessary. Thank you.

I have restarted the services and that did not solve the problem. This may be a stupid question, but I'm not exactly sure who I would contact at Oracle about this problem. Can someone tell me where I should look for this?
Also, I have a bit more information from the logs that may be helpful in solving this. Here is an excerpt from the hbrserver.log:
2009-12-09 03:28:10,656 WARN main com.hyperion.hbr.core.AccessControlManagerServer - HBR repository is not configured. HBR will not be available.
    2009-12-15 10:25:02,656 FATAL http-10080-Processor4 com.hyperion.hbr.core.AccessControlManagerServer - Error creating DBUserGrpObjLinkTable. Cannot continue.
It appears that the HBR repository is not configured? I am confused because Business Rules were working fine just last week, and I'm not sure what has changed. Also, I can still successfully run Business Rules from Planning. Any ideas on how to fix the repository? Thanks.

  • Error while validating Business rules in EAS

    Hi,
Iam new to hyperion. I created business rule in EAS (using a user with businessrule admin role). when i tried to validate the same, it gives an error message like *"Unable to validate or run this business rule. Detail:Exception occurred. Please check your log file for details"*. So wats the actual problem.
    Thanks in advance.

Sounds like you have not added security to the rule. Before you assign security you must set the Location in the Location tab, this is the db you want to run the BR on (you can also use 'Allow all Locations')
Then you must goto security tab and assign users / groups to the BR, once you have done this the BR should validate and run.

  • Error opening business rule from AAS

    Hi,
I'm unable to open business rules from AAS console associated with one of the Planning/ Essbase application. This particular planning application is also not showing up when I try to "select outline" for the business rule. The business rules for this particular application are running fine from Planning web application.
Error retrieving Planning application app_name on server server_name.
Detail:Exception occurred. Please check your log file for details.
hbrserver.log randomly shows one of the two errors given below:
    2010-06-15 16:02:56,469 WARN [ACTIVE] ExecuteThread: '1' for queue: 'weblogic.kernel.Default (self-tuning)' com.hyperion.hbr.plugin.planning.PlanningMetadata - Error retrieving Planning application app_name on server server_name.
    or
    2010-06-15 15:28:22,094 WARN [ACTIVE] ExecuteThread: '0' for queue: 'weblogic.kernel.Default (self-tuning)' com.hyperion.hbr.plugin.planning.PlanningMetadata - Cannot retrieve connected root element for Planning/server_name/app_name/database_name
There is no issue with other business rules which are associated with other applications.
I have tried restarting EAS service but that didn't fix the issue. Also, i reckon this problem came up after I manually deployed 64 bit weblogic for EAS. On other environments where tomcat is being used there are no issues at all.
    Thanks in advance.

I take it you have tried the standard process of :-
    Stop Planning,EAS, RMI services.
    Start RMI,EAS,Planning
Log into the planning application through the web.
Log into EAS, open your rule.
Also can you create a new rule for the planning application after following the above process?
    Cheers

  • Can't associate Planning Outline to Business Rule in EAS

    Hi all
I've searched through this forum but can't seem to find a solution to my issue on any of the existing threads, I have tried what has been suggested to others who seem to have the same problem. My issue is this ... When I have a Business Rule open in EAS, and I try to associate the outline to my Planning Application, I can't see my Planning app. This problem goes both ways ... I can't associate an outline to my Planning App from EAS, and in Planning I can't see the BR's that are added to my forms.
Some history to the issue and what I've tried so far:
This is happening in a test environment, we used this environment a while back to test the changing of the Admin password and what the impact would be. The Admin password was changed successfully and all the components seem to work (EAS, Planning, Workspace, Shared Services) to be honest I didn't test the Business Rules at the time so I don't know if this is causing the problem that I have now. The test environment hasn't been used in a while (besides the testing of the admin password) so I'm not sure at what point this problem started and if the changing of the Admin password is the cause.
I'm not sure if I've messed up something with the RMI Registry because EAS and Planning can't seem to see each other??
    I have tried: (without success)
    - Changing the password back to what it was originally
    - Running the Planning configuration tool
    - I have created a new Planning application and can associate a BR in EAS to the new App but still can't see the existing App.
    - From within Planning, I have selected 'Administration' -> 'Manage Database' and recreated the Application (selected 'create' rather than 'refresh')
    - From within Workspace, when I selected 'Navigation' -> 'Administer' -> 'Classic Application Administration' -> 'Planning Administration' The existing Application does not show up
on the list, only the new test application that I created.
The environment that I am working in:
    Planning Classic Application
Version 11.1.1.3 (EAS, Planning, Workspace, Shared Services)
    Oracle Solaris on SPARC (32-bit)
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. I know that I mentioned that this is on a test environment but I need this environment to set up user training and I need to be able to simulate the business process which means running a Business Rule from a form in Planning.
    Kind Regards,
    Fraser

    hi All
No need to reply, I sorted it out by changeing the EDIT_DIM_ENABLED property to true, now I can change the Calculation module option from 'Calculation Manager' to 'Business Rules'

  • Enable/select/change to Business rules from Calc Manager in App settings

    Hi all,
Somehow we are Unable to Expand the Planning Node in Essbase Administration Services (EAS) Console When Creating Business Rules. I am not sure is it
I am not sure, is it because of one of the application has calc settings as calc manager in under application settings in dev environment, but in other environment all applications set it as Business Rules.
I was trying to change from Calc Manager to Business rules in App settings, but it is grayed out and not able to change to Business rule from calc manager.
    Please suggest me.
    Thanks,

If it say been set incorrectly then you may need to update one of the relational tables for the application.
    Table - HSP_SYSTEMCFG
    Field - CALC_ENGINE_OPTIONS
    Values - 1=HBR, 2=CalcMgr
Restart the planning application web app service after making changes.
    Cheers

  • Unable to open Business Rules in EAS

For some reason, I all of a sudden cannot open business rules in EAS.
    I get the following errors:
Error while sending command to HBR Server running within the EAS server.
Detail:Server returned HTTP response code: 500 for URL: http://usnbka091p:10080/eas/eas
The only thing that happened was that something was messed up with our active directory, but it eventually got fixed. Additionally, it takes a very long time for my EAS to open.
Does anyone have any ideas on where I can look for additional log files to review or anything else that could be causing the problem?

I did manage to get one of the BR's modified by using the admin ID, however there is still an issue. It seems to have something to do with one of our active directories not working. We recently changed active directories, however, there wasn't an issue until all the active directories went down last week. It seems like the original directory is no longer up and running. I am currently waiting for a response from our IT. We'll see how that goes.

  • Where and how to create business rules?

    Hi All,
    1) Where and how to create business rules?
    2) How to configure Rule Engines (Ex: JRULE Engine or any other Rule Engines)?
    3) Whar products are available for Rule Engines?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi,
You have some options on business rules.
If you just want to create business rules that are easy for business owners to edit without a lot of training, Oracle BPM has a simple business rules creation and end user edit capability. The benefits to using the rules that come with Oracle BPM are:
<li> they are simple and easy to edit
<li> end users can get up to speed quickly to edit them
<li> when changed, the business process is immediately impacted
<li> they can use the Oracle BPM business parameters that also come with the product
    Drawbacks are:
<li> you can only use Project variables as the variable content inside of them
<li> if a company already has a business rules engine, they are different that the company's standard
Business rules engines have been used with Oracle BPM. If you are a consultant, first ask if there is a standard business rules engine that the company already has purchased that they use (e.g. iLog from IBM, Corticon...). If this is the case, you typically integrate to the rules using a web service interface that the business rules engine exposes.
If they do not already have a business rules engine, consider Jrules. The benefits are:
<li> it is a part of the Oracle BPM Suite that they might have purchased
<li> version 11g of the Jrules is coming out soon with a friendly front end
    Hope this helps,
    Dan

  • NPE when create Business Rules in SCA in JDEV

I got this error message when try to create Business Rules in SOA composite with input/output.
    My JDEV Build is JDEVADF_11.1.1.6.0_GENERIC_111205.1733.6192.1

When I tried to create Business Rules without input/output, it is created OK.

I'm still having this problem. I checked that RMI is running but whenever I try to enter in Planning the logs write that it can't connect to the eas database, and HBRPluginData relational table isn't being filled.

  • OIM 11g R1 API to create business rule

    Hi,
I have a requirement where new companies get created quite often and hence the roles for companies, access policies, authorization policies is to be created.
I tried figuring out if there is any api to create business rules and authorization policies?
Configuring companies (along with polices and business rules) is a tedious job and I am trying to find some way to automate it.
    Thanks,
    Ani

When i go to the request templates, and try to create a new one, the "Create Role" is not a valid request type.
I would suggest you create an authorization policy that grants permission to create roles. And then you can create an approval policy for action of "Create Role" and configure it so that you trigger an approval process.

  • Create Business Partner from XMl String not a file

    Hi,
Is it possible to create a BP from an XML string.

but I dont want to save the string in a file before creating a BP from it

    Marc,
This looks like it is a duplicate of this post, so I am closing this thread as it looks like you answered your own question!

  • Problem using "Create Business Rule Design Definition" utility

    Hi everyone,
I tried to create a business rule with Headstart Utilities - Create Business Rule Design Definition (Revision 6.0.0.20) and I got the following errors :
    Errors
    Message
Combination of Message Prefix and Message Number (SGM-ENG) does not match format AAA-NNNNN.
Activity aborted with ORACLE internal errors.
    -1400 ORA-01400: cannot insert NULL into ("HST50"."QMS_MESSAGE_TEXT"."LANGUAGE")
I suppose that the utility concatenate the message prefix and the language to build the error message.
Our Oracle Designer version is 6.0.3.9.0, Headstart 2.1.2 with patch 12.4 and Developper is 6.0.5.35.3
    Any patch available?
    Regards,
    Jerome Couture

    Tim,
Headstart should be able to check out any tables you need.
We think we have the user settings
done correctly, but there may be something that we
have missed. How can we get Headstart to
automatically check-out the table(s) for which we
want to run the Business Rules design transformer? The user settings you need are (see also pages 5-7 and 5-10 in the Headstart User's Guide):
    - Under 'Process the following objects', choose 'Checked out by anyone'
    - Also check the check box '... also Checked In objects'
    - Choose whether you want to automatically check out with or without lock
If this does not help, please run the utility with log level 'Debug Detailed' (can also be set in the User Preferences) and report the last few lines of the log messages. They should give an indication of why the check out does not succeed.
    Hope this helps,
    Sandra Muller

  • Can't launch Business rules from Smartview

    Hi,
I am trying to lauch a business rules from smartview, but the "calculation option"/ "business rules" menu is unavailable in Excel.
This business rules is available in the Web HBR launcher.
How could I get access to business rules in Excel please ?
    Regards

In Excel, you can't launch a Business rule in a free form, you have to use a form from Hyperion Planning for example.
It would have been nice to be able to launch a BR in Smartview, as in the web launcher.

  • Business rules from epma to planning

    Hi,
In EPMA version 11.1.12 I am having an issue with business rules. I wrote and deployed a business rule from EPMA to planning and everything was fine, the rule ran on save in the data form.
Now, I tried to run the rule a few days later and it won't run. I tried to remove and re-add the rule, but now its not visible. In planning, I can't see 'business rule security' in the administration drop down.
I deployed the application and all the rules and everything is successful, but still nothing in planning. In another application the rules are there.
How could a business rule disappear from planning and not show up again when it was deployed? Any help is appreciated. Thanks,
    Dq

We sometimes see similar issues when the services are recycled in the wrong order. Perhaps a service failed or was restarted (after you had been successful in running the business rule from Planning)?
