Trouble displaying A drop down list in Contribute

I am having trouble with a client that has downloaded Contribute onto their windows computer. The page in question contains a drop-down nav- bar which I coded using CSS. I have had the page certified by W3 CSS and the html also went through at 100%. It displays perfectly in all browsers and also in my version of Contribute 6.5. My client is also running the same version of Contribute, however the drop-down menu won't render properly in their version of contribute unless they try to edit the page. This is a problem because they rely on the navigation bar to navigate the site for editing. On their version of contribute the navigation bar appears as a lengthy unordered list instead of a smooth drop-down list which appears on all other browsers and versions of Contribute. I have changed the name of the CSS file and its location several times. This hasn't solved the issue. Any suggestions please???

Thanks for showing interest.
I spoke to Adobe staff today who were very helpful. They put it down to a bad installation of Contribute. I have suggested to the client to clear the cache and reinstall Contribute tomorrow morning. IE is working fine on my clients machine and shows the page correctly. I will keep you posted on how it goes.
This is how it displays on the same version of Adobe Contribute on my Mac and all browsers.

Since I upgraded to Firefox version 3.6.10, clicking on the downward arrow at the right end of the location bar no longer displays the drop-down list of sites visited, bookmarks and addresses typed in location bar. My Tools > Options > privacy setting is to save history, and if I start typing a previously accessed website's address in the location bar, then the full address appears as a drop-down item. But not when I just click at the right end of the bar.

You can try "Reset all user preferences to Firefox defaults" on the [[Safe mode]] start window.
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).

JComponent.setComponentPopupMenu(JPopupMenu popup).
The menu doesn't showed automatically when I added it to a JComponent and tried to right click.
I guess you could add a listener and call setVisible and setLocation for the menu in the listener, but there has to be an easier way...

Filtering in excel - not all options display in drop down list

I have found an issue with the filter drop-down list in Excel 2010. I have now been upgraded (by my employee) to Excel 2013 and same problem still exists.
Problem: I highlight the row containing the column headings; then click on filter (available via the Home tab); then click on the down arrow in the column of interest (in this case "Council Names" column); the drop-down window appears but not all
council names are displayed in the selection list, even though those council names are still in the list. I am aware of the 10,000 option limit with the selection list, but my spread sheet has well under 10,000 rows (unless there is something hidden that I
do not know about).
I have found work-arounds for the problem by searching google for answers to similar problems. I have also spoken to my employee's IT HelpDesk. I will explain the work-arounds I have found below. However, my main concerns now are:
(1) What is the cause of the problem? Is there are better fix that addresses the cause, rather than having to use work-arounds?
(2) Is the issue an indication that the spread sheet has been corrupted in some way? - I need assurance that this is not an indication that the spread sheet is unstable and such problems could multiply or already be existing. (The reason I ask
this is that I had an earlier version of the same spread sheet where the problem did not occur, but it appeared in a later copy - could the copying of the sheet/workbook have caused the problem?)
Workarounds found:
(1) Select the entire sheet, then select the filter button in Home tab
(2) select all the columns manually (click in top left cell and drag down until all data selected), then select filter button
(3) Ensure all rows in the column of interest are filled in, then select filter button

Thank you very much! Yes you are right - I have looked at the Current Region and the Council Names within that region match those in the filter list. The Current Region does not contain the entire sheet.
[By the way - there were some errors in my original post: employee should be employer and in my description of the problem the following should read
"...even though those council names are still in the spread sheet". I assume that this would not change your response?]
Further questions
(1) It is odd, though, that an earlier version of the same spread sheet had a complete list of council names (the current range on this sheet contains all of the required rows of the sheet). How did the current region change between versions (I did not knowingly
do it)?
(2) Does the above mean that the file, workbook or spread sheet is damaged/corrupted in some way? If yes, can this be corrected and how?
(3) In addition to (2) above - what is the safest way to copy an excel workbook to minimise risk/avoid future corruption? [I have been copying and keeping earlier versions, partly for testing reasons, but also as a safety measure for the project as
we are making changes all the time and may decide we wish to go back to the previous version(s)].

How can I increase the number of Tags displayed in Drop down list?

When I go to Bookmarks/Tags, there are only 10 tags displayed. I have created at least 15 tags.
Is there a way to increase the number of Tags displayed in the Drop down list?

Do you mean "Recent Tags" which has an icon a blue-colored folder with a primitive looking magnifying glass over the folder?
That folder does have a limit of 10 results. If you want to create an "All Tags" item on the Boomarks Menu, you can do that by creating your own "smart folder." The process I use is a little involved, so bear with me (also, see the screen shots).
The query used by Recent Tags is:
place:type=6&sort=14'''&maxResults=10'''
So for All Tags we will drop the maximum results limit:
place:type=6&sort=14
''If you prefer your tags in alphabetical order instead of having the most recently used at the top, use this instead:''
place:type=6&sort=1
Go ahead and select the line you want and right-click > copy it.
Next, click the bookmarks drop-down button, expand the Bookmarks Toolbar, right-click any existing item, and choose New Bookmark.
In Location, paste the query, and in name, type All Tags (or your preferred description). When you click Add Bookmark, Firefox will add it, but it doesn't show the blue search folder icon. Drag the bookmark to the menu, and it will turn into a functioning search folder.

Hi,
you could have a dropdownlist for the user to be able to choose its option, but when coming to printing, you could be setting the dropdownlist to visible(screen only) and have a listbox set to visible(print only) with all the dropdownlist options.

How to auto populate a field based on drop down list unless specific item is selected

Apologies if I have posted this in the wrong area but I am new to Adobe LiveCycle, JavaScript and these forums.
I am trying to build an Acrobat form using LiveCycle but am having trouble with the drop down lists.
Inititaly I simply wanted to populate fields in one table based on the selection of a corresponding drop down list in another table.
I used the following code and it worked fine:
Workbook.Content.Table1.Row3.AppropriationDetails.Row4.Cell1::change - (JavaScript, client)

The problem is that now I want the above code to work UNLESS one of the items in the dropdown list is specifically selected in which case I want the text box in the other table to display a message such as "Enter details in the field below".
I have tried to create an If Else statement using the following code:

Ok so ive changed things up a bit and have had some more success.
I have used a Switch statement in my For loop to perform different actions based on the item selected.
The code looks like this:

This code solves my problem but has thrown up a new issue:
When i select Option 1 or 2 from the dropdown list the change in the text field is instantaneous, however if I select Option 3 it wont appear in the text field until I either select Option 3 a second time or select another item. Its as if the text field is a selction behind what I have enterd in the dropdown list.
Any thoughts?

Dynamic Drop-Down list in a table row or subform

Hi,
I need to display multiple drop-down list elements dynamically. Each of these DDLs will have different values.
For example:
The table will have 2 columns (Student Name text field and Courses drop-down)
Row 1: Student 1 & Courses of Student1 in DDL
Row 2: Student 2 & Courses of Student2 in DDL
When I execute my app, both the drop-downs (i.e. for both the students) are displaying all the courses of all the students. I tried a lot with binding options..
$record.Students[].Courses[]
is refering to all elements of the node. If I use the index 0 for Students node, I am getting 1st element rows.. if I use 1, I am getting 2nd element rows,,,
But How can I set the binding so that Row 1 has only Student 1 courses and Row 2 has Student 2 courses?
IS THERE A WAY TO DYNAMICALLY SET THE BINDING USING JAVASCRIPT?
I tried with tables, subforms.. it is not working. It is working fine in plain web dynpro table but not in an interactive form. I am using NW 2004s SP11, Web Dynpro Java. LiveCycle Designer 7.1, Adobe Reader 7.09.
There are some other posts talking about similar issue.. I tried the solutions mentioned there as well, but nothing worked.
I would really appreciate if any one can provide a solution or pointer to my problem.

Hey. Uh, this probably isn't the answer you were looking for, but it sounds like you've got a problem with your database design there. Generally speaking, your tables shouldn't have multi-valued fields, in the relational model anyway (sql). Instead, you should look at adding a separate table like EMPLOYEE_HOBBIES. Then you have a foreign key using the employees primary key as the foreign key in the employee_hobbies table, see what I mean? I might have misunderstood your explanation though, I'm not sure.
Alternatively, you could just have hobbies as a big freeform varchar field, and don't bother to make people separate their hobbies into different fields (you'd have to abandon the drop-down listbox idea in this case). If there's no really important reason to make the distinction, then it's probably easier just to not do it.

Drop Down List in Query Selection Screen Takes Long Time.

I open a report, refresh the query and get a selection screen. But when clicked on the drop down list it takes 4- 5 mins for displaying the drop down options.
How can I speed up the displaying of drop down list in selection screen?

Variable drop-down lists according to radio-button input

I need to restrict the display of drop-down lists according to a particular radio-button selection earlier on the form. Can I use a javascript call on the client side without linking to an external database along these lines:
If radiobutton1 == 1
then dropdownlist1 uses list1
elseif radiobutton1 == 2
then dropdownlist1 uses list2
and so forth.
Obviously the syntax is incorrect, but I need to know if it can be done before digging in further.

Let's assume we have tree grouped radio buttons in a group of buttons, and a combo box object which displays a different list of elements depending of the chosen option.
A very simple way to do it would be, for example, the following one:

Drop down list in report program

Hi all,
I am using the function module VRM_SET_VALUES to display the drop down list for a selection screen field for a report program. It works fine in foreground but in background mode the job is getting cancelled and the error log states 'Make an entry in all required fields'. If I remove this code for drop down list for a selection screen field then the program runs correctly in back ground mode. So i feel there is some problem with the function module. Can anyone suggest me an alternate function module or how to correct this error. I have used the condition if 'SY-BATCH' is initial only then to exceute the code for displaying the drop down list for a selection screen field. But even then the background job gets cancelled. The function module is called in the event AT SELECTION-SCREEN output.

Hi,
Easy! You are calling that function module in the wrong event. It should be called in :
at selection-screen on value-request for <field name>
This way it is only executed if the user presses F4 (dropdown help) on that field.
Therefore it will no longer cause a problem for your background job.

Problems with drop-down list: old references still in the model

I am getting in troubles with a drop-down list. I configured it as dynamic list and I specified a RFC to get the values. Sometimes when I edit the field I get that the configuration for the dynamic list is lost and I have to specify again the call to the MF. I did this for a couple of times and my surprise is that the old references are still in the source code. I realized of that when I used the alias manager. The old reference were there with ENUM....To check if the old references are called I switched on the flash debug console and I show that the MF is called a lot of times...
Anybody knows how to eliminate these old reference???' One the collateral effects is that the first value of the list is always shown.

PS: You might avoid the problem of re-defining the entry list, by defining it as a global entry list, not a dynamic. However, the top-most entry will still be shown!

I am having trouble with Dreamweaver 8 and php with MySQL.
Basically, I have a main page, index.php that includes a
header file that I use to display my header using readfile like
this:

Inside of header.php, there is code to create a drop down
list. I am trying to populate this list from my database, but I
cannot get this to work.
This is the code snippet:
