Trouble Distributing packages to DP

I have a DP on the other side of the world that has been acting up lately. I distribute packages to other DPs fine, but some of the packages don't ever show up as "installed" on my sccm 2007 console. They stay in "Install Pending".
Looking at the status messages, I see a ton of information messages:
2300 - beginning to process...
2342 - starting to process...
2301 - completed processing successfully...
These repeat over and over and over into the thousands for the same few packages. When I examine the distmgr.log on the primary site server, I don't see it having issues sending to this DP. When I examine sender.log I see it writing to the DP successfully.
On the dp (which is in a secondary site), I see the distmgr.log go through spurts of processing a ton of the mentioned packages, but never completing or finishing. On a lot of them I see that the versions are wrong.
I've been looking at other suggestions, and I might try the PreloadPkgonSite tool. However in looking at the distmgr\incoming inbox on my secondary site/dp, there are a bunch of xxx.pkg files (nothing in the Incoming\bad folder). These .pkg files aren't
named the same as my package ids in question, but when i examine the contents they reference the packages in plain text.
My question is: Should I delete (or move) these .pkg files in the inboxes\distmgr.box\incoming folder on my secondary/dp? I don't see these files on other sites, just this one, and there are a lot, but only a dozen or so recently.

Yes, I reviewed that log too and didn't see anything out of the ordinary.
I went ahead and moved the inbox files to a different location and tried removing the DP and re-adding the DP to the package again. The sender.log on the primary showed that it was attempting to write, then wrote xx.tmp to the secondary. It completed with
a "Rename completed <SECONDARY SITE>xxx.tmp to xxx.sni"
On the secondary in the despooler log, I see the message
Found ready instruction xxx.sni" Nothing after that though.
We'll wait and see how things progress now. One thing I did notice was that the StoredPkgVersion (39) of package xxx. SotredPkgVersion in database is 39. The next message: SourceVersion(40) of package xxx. SourceVersion in database is (40).
Does it matter that these are different? It looks like they match up with the DB, but the Stored & Source are different.

  • What do you use to create distributable packages with ARD?

    What do you use to create distribution packages for ARD?
    I.E. a package for installing the new Oracle Java 7.21 on all our machines.
    Or, a package for installing Micosoft Office 14.3.2 udapters?
    Specifically for 10.7 and 10.8 users.
    Install Ease?
    Jamf Composer?
    Packages?
    xCode PackageMaker?
    Which one should I put my time into using?
    Thanks.

    Nicolas, Have you been able to get the Adobe Update to work? I get stopped at the first step, putting in the command-line to install the AUS2.0. I think we have a support Contract, i should probably just ask Adobe for assistance.
    Does noboby create their own distributable packages? Maybe i'm looking at this wrong.
    I see that even Microsoft puts their updates into a .pkg file that is pushable through ARD. Maybe most everyone else does?
    I was able to get an Adobe Flash Player Distributable installer, from Adobe, you have to fill out a form asking for permission for the distributable installer, and they send you a link to the files.. ugh. but fine. I have the .pkg installer for Flash, and that works pushing out over ARD.

    I guess my life would be great, if i can just get a Updater source for CS5.5 and CS6.
    I did create the Adobe Package distribution for actually installing the CS6 over ARD. That works.
    I have a licensing glitch on deploying new machine off a build that has CS6 on it. I'm able to get around the licensing glitch by using the Adobe Serialization tool, that's fine.
    I guess i'm just looking for a CS6 Updates tool. I'm fine creating a CS6 updater package using InstallEase or something. I'm wondering what the best one is.
    IF most everything already comes as a .pkg file nowadays, and it's just Adobe that's difficult. I guess there's not really a need to create .pkg files for anyone? So nobody really uses them?

  • Distribute Package to DistributionPoint failed - TotalFileSizes failed

    Hi,
    I've some troubles by distributing (migrated) Packages to some Distribution Points.
    In PkgXferMgr.log i can see the following Messages:
    CContentDefinition::TotalFileSizes failed; 0x80070003
    CSendFileAction::SendFiles failed; 0x80070003
     Sending failed. Failure count = 50, Restart time = 4/24/2014 7:11:54 AM Eastern Daylight Time
    I know, that the ErrorCode means "The system cannot find the path specified." but i've already double checked that the Path is correct and the PrimarySite Server Computeraccount have access to it.
    And the package work fine on other Distribution Points.
    Thanks

    Thanks for your reply
    Yes, i've also checked the file path (77 characters) and there are also no subfolder with long filepath.
    And the strange thing is, that the same packages work on other Distribution Points. There are only 4-5 DPs and ~10 Pkgs effected.

    Source files is ~ 1.53 GB in size.  Some of the files in the root are copying.  We're running McAfee VSE 8.0i, but, no evidence that it's blocking things (tried turning off on-access scan, and, still wouldn't distribute).  Other, smaller packages will update, so, seems to be something unique to this one.  I can manually copy the package source files to the DPT's via their hidden share, so, not sure why it won't work.
    No obvious errors in the event or SMS logs, besides the above.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks.

    I had the same issue with some of my packages where it would never finish transferring to the DP's.  Unchecked BDR and it distributed fine.  It would be very nice if SCCM has some builtin feature where it detects the size and number of files a package has and enable/disable BDR accordingly.
    But I still have one problem that I can't figure out.  I have the Office 2007 package (800+MB).  It cannot not be distributed to one of our DP's.  The DP is in China.  That DP has enough space.  All the rights and permissions are setup correctly because all of the other packages (30+) transferred okay.  And these packages range from a couple MB's to 3GB in size.  And all of those packages have been distributed there.
    The interesting part is that it transfers a majority of the package and seems to just stop.  And it's always the same folder that didn't finish (the Updates folder).  This seems to have been a issue as far as I can remember.  Could it possibly be that it's still transferring and when midnight rolls around when server does backup then it seems to start again?  The reason I say that is because when looking at the package status, the summary date is always a few minutes after midnight.  I don't understand how that's possble when it transferred 3GB+ successfully.
    I have tried it with BDR and without BDR.  I tried removing the contents from the DP and add the DP again.
    So if anyone has any suggestions, I would gladly try.  Thanks in advance!

  • Trouble compiling package with JDK 1.4

    Hi,
    I just installed JDK 1.4 on a new machine, now I have trouble running compile scripts that used to work on my old machine. The old an new are configured with Win 2000. The following compiles without problem:
    javac -classpath "..." -d "..." "c:\.....\com\...\some package\MyClass.java"
    Changing this statemetn to:
    javac -classpath "..." -d "..." "c:\.....\com\...\some package\*.java"
    should compile all Java files in 'some package', instead what I get is the following error message:
    error: cannot read: c:\.....\com\...\some package\*.java
    The documentation says that this should still work. Anyone aware of changes in 1.4 that could cause this problem?
    Thanks for responding

    As a work-around, you can use some Unix-styled shell (that is, command processor) which expands the *.expression into the list of the matching file names, thus releaving javac from this task. (Caveat: directory names with a space inside will cause problems.)
    I can recommend the Cygnus package (including the command processor "bash") or "MinGW", the Minimalist GNU For Windows with its simpler sh:

  • Issues distributing packages and receiving Win32 Error = 0

    Within the last month or so, we've been experiencing issues distributing various packages to our DP's. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to it; it can be any combination of packages and DP's.
    We've noticed that just before the Win32 error occurs, the following 4 lines usually precede the error:
    UpdateStagedFile failed; 0x80070040
    UpdateStagedFolderRdc failed; 0x80070040
    UpdateStagedFolderRdc failed; 0x80070040
    UpdateStagedFolderRdcW failed; 0x80070040
    We've had an open ticket with MS for over a week now, but there hasn't been any progress.
    Any light you guys could shed on this would be greatly appreciated!

    This is a known issue for SCCM 2012. A official fix will be released in the near future. If you want to test instantly, contact CSS to open a case to get a test fix.

  • Having trouble with packages

    I am having trouble getting a java program to see a class that I put in another module.
    The first module is this DMTest.java:
    package mypackage;
    public class DMTest
      public DMTest()
        System.out.println("Hello");
    DMTest.java compiles correctly, and I put it in the "mypackage" directory. Then I try to compile Tester.java.
    import mypackage.*;
    public class Tester
      public static void main (String[] args)
        DMTest mTest = new DMTest();
    This gives me a compile error as follows:
    Tester.java:27: cannot resolve symbol
    symbol  : constructor DMTest  ()
    location: class DMTest
        DMTest mTest = new DMTest();
                                 ^
    1 error-------------------------------------------------------
    Does anyone know what is wrong with my programs? Thanks!

    The only way I can recreate your exact error condition is to change the DMTest constructor to require a parameter. When I then compile Tester, I get the error because the compiler does not find the no-argument constructor.
    This tells me that whatever version of DMTest that the compiler finds when processing Tester, it does not have a valid no-argument constructor.
    I would try a couple of things:
    1) Delete or rename DMTest so it does not exist. Attempt to compile Tester. The error should be different. If it's not, then there is another version somewhere. Run a Windows Find for DMTest.* on all your drives. If you find others, there may be a classpath issue.
    2) Add a main method to DMTest with the same contents as the main() in Tester. Compile and run DMTest. This should help separate the import issue from the constructor issue.
    If you try these, please post the results. This one is a puzzle!

    Kevin

    Partial success. I've been able to compile them all now.
    http://forums.java.sun.com/thread.jsp?forum=31&thread=42036 showed an example of the javac -classpath syntax and that cleared things up. I was under the impression that classpath was an environment variable just like path. Especially since windows doesn't give an error message for entering "set classpath = --stuff--"
    I can get all three of the classes I am using to compile. Animal.java and BirdCopy are in the "kev" package in the directory c:\kev. BirdCopy extends Animal. Action.java is in c:\anotherDir (yes that is the literal name) and imports BirdCopy, instantiates it, and calls its methods. Action.java will compile ok but when I run it I get an error msg of

  • Trouble distributing PDF Form. Emailing fails

    I have an PDF form I created and wish to distribute to my clients.  Once filled out I would like them to return the complete form to me via email.  When I choose distribute form in the forms menu to send it to my recipients.  I get an error "Failed to send the form to recipients"  I am stymied.  I cannot figure out why I can launch this feature.
    I have ask clients to complete the form and try to attach it to an email, but that defeats the whole procedure, generally confusing my client.
    Anyone know what I am doing wrong. I am using Acrobat 9 Pro on Mac OS 10.6.8 Snow Leopard.  Someone suggested I upgrade to a newer version of Acrobat.  That seems to suggest that the feature does not work in Acrobat 9 which I believe is incorrect.
    Any Help is appreciated.

    It's not clear to me where the problem is. Is it when you try to send the form to recipients, or when they try to click the Submit button to send the form back to you? It certainly can work with a form created in Acrobat 9, but it may not work with certain email clients. You may find that a good number of users don't even have an email client set up, and many may use a web-based email client (e.g., gmail and the like). If it doesn't work, manually attaching the document to an email is the workaround. Such is the nature of an email-based workflow.
    Some users may be using something other than Acrobat/Reader to interact with the form, such as the Preview application on the Mac, which also will not work. The Preview application actually corrupts PDF forms in a number of ways and it doesn not support JavaScript or digital signatures. When you get such a corrupted form back, text (and other) fields will appear to be blank. For more information on this, see: http://kb2.adobe.com/community/publishing/885/cpsid_88564.html

  • How to distribute package a C++/html/JS plugin

    Hello
    Is there any information available on how to package a combined C++ (AIT) and  HTML/CSS/JS (ZXP) extension
    Can't seem to find information on that
    Thanks!
    Peter

    Actually you don't need to put the link to a .js file in the head section of your page. Often now developers will include the .js file links before the closing </body> tag. Apparently it speeds up the 'visual' process for the user.
    The css could go in the main css file.
    However if you have no 'editable' region in the <head><'head> section of your template then the template is not correctly formulated.
    I really have no idea what data%20files/a_002.html  is doing in the img tag, safe to say that %20 represents as space in the folder name. What is in the a_002.html is beyond me. Lets face it every day boundaries are being broken, much of the coding I see today is either a throw back to the early days or is way advanced, over my head.

  • Trouble distributing GPIB app.

    I've written a Labview .VI that functions perfectly as a .VI. When I attempt to distribute the .exe I get an error 14 (Cannot add resource or GPIB bus error). It is occurring in the first GPIB command to be executed. (I'm not using the VISA command). NI 488.2 is installed. MAX can scan the bus and see the instrument. The .VI has no problem. I've installed the Run Time engine and then the FDS on the PC that I'm attempting to use and still no luck. Prior to writing to the GPIB bus I'm initializing an AO-10 card, which works fine. Any thoughts?

    There are few things that we can check here. First of all, do you have the same gpib and daq driver version on both the machines? Is the run time engine version the same as the Labview version? Do you have GPIB board configured in the same way on both the machines? Try using GPIB Initialization VI to initialize the board in the beginning of the code. That way you can make sure that the board is configured the same on both machines programatically. Are you able to "communicate" with the instrument on target machine (the one which you are running your executable on ) via MAX or IBIC? Is your instrument at the same primary address on your target machine?
