Trouble downloading anything

I'm using an iBook G3 600 mHz with 384 RAM and a 15 GB hard drive. Available HD capacity is at about 40%. When downloading anything, it will reach about 50% completion and then stop. This is regardless of the size of the download and regardless of whether I use Software Update or try to download via other methods.
It appears to be a network problem, as the error given is -1001, but I have no problem using Airport to get online. I've just installed Panther, which runs fine, but this problem was occurring with Tiger also. Any thoughts? Thanks.

Which browser are you using?
At least one person has reported successfully doing away with this error by clearing caches.
Do you leave the iBook on at night so the automatic maintenance routines run? If not, you may want to try MacJanitor, a freeware application that will clean the caches and do other routine maintenance for you.

What is your connection via speedtest.net ?
Check istumbler or netstumbler to verify network interference

Troubles downloading anything off of Safari

I have trouble downloading files off of Safari. When I click a link to download something, say a file off of the apple website, the page loads as if it is going to download something, but doesn't do anything. However, I can download the file normally by right clicking and selecting "download linked file". This solution only works about half the time though. I know the download directory and the files are not downloading anywhere else on the computer. Does anybody know the issue here? What can I do to fix it? Thank you.

Perhaps the easiest step is to move the file com.apple.Safari.plist located in your User Library/Preference folder to the desktop. Then restart Safari and try a download. Corruption in your preference file could affect the download process. If there is no change move the file back into the Library, writing over the newly created one. If downloads work, then you'll have to reset your Safari Preferences to your liking from the default settings.
Just checking: Have you ever installed any 3rd party download app, such as Speed Download?
Curious? Which folder are you directing your downloads to?

Trouble downloading anything on MacBook. "Cannot create a file"

Whenever I try to download anything off of the interent, my computer says that it cannot create a file.

I'm having a similar issue as well. For some reason, anytime I try to download any type of file, an error box with this pops up.
"DapPlugin is unable to find Download Accelerator Plus Application. Please make sure to launch DAP to complete installation."
Then, when I press okay, here's what pops up.

Issues are these.
I did not, not have I ever, downloaded this program. I searched my computer to find a new file created today called DapPipe within my Applications ( a Unix Executable file - 0 KB). I deleted it and another folder called DAP, but no matter what I do, the program stops any downloading that I try to do.
And, this is just frustrating me, as I'm pretty careful in what I download and where I download from.
The only other thing I could think of is that I have a Windows partition to my HD, but I have made it so that Mac files can come back and forth, but Windows has no access to any of my files, without my permission.
But, I haven't downloaded that program on my Windows side either and I'm afraid if I can't get this fixed, that I may have to wipe my less-than-4-months-old Macbook.
Please note, that the error appears in both Safari and Firefox (I don't have IE on this computer).
Any help would be great, as I'm at a stand-still until I can get this fixed.

Trouble downloading anything from Safari!

OK, so here's my problem. Whenever I try to download something from a webpage using Safari or any other web browser, I get an error message in the download window that reads for example: "Safari can't show the file "iPodUpdate2006-01-10.dmg" in the Finder. Safari can't show the file "iPodUpdate2006-01-10.dmg" in the Finder because the file hasn't been created yet." That's just an example, but anything I click that uses that download window comes up with that same message. Please help.

Do you have problems regardless of website or just with specific ones? If the problems only occur with specific pages, could you paste the address in a reply so we can take a look?
What happens if you Option-Click on a file to download it directly?
What other browsers have you tried besides Safari?
What happens if you try downloading from a new user account? To create a new account, open System Preferences and click on Accounts. You may have to click on the padlock and give your admin name and password to create an account. Click on the plus sign in the lower right corner to create the new account. I see no reason to give it a password. You can delete this account later using using the minus key, although I have kept my second account to use for testing (the user folder only takes up 32 kb).

i've just finally managed to install ovi player (though on my father's laptop; did not work for my pc nor my dad's), registered under comes with music and was all good to go -- or so i thought.
i'm having trouble downloading anything. each track gets a "download failed" status after "downloading".
i'm wondering if there were any steps i failed to take; my usb is connected under media transfer.
it's pretty upsetting to be continuously let down by nokia, however i am optimistic for a solution.
prompt responses/any help would be greatly appreciated.

i've managed to download an entire album, so praise goodness. however, i still get "download failed" a bunch of times. its occurrence seems random as of now, and i would still really appreciate an explanation or solution to this. thanks.

Apple doesn't create installation disks for OSX 10.7 and later. You can create your own disk/USB bootable installer, but this requires downloading the installation package from the app store first.
1) Make sure you have a stable internet connection. Try directly connecting via ethernet port, versus Wifi, if you are experiencing a weak Wifi Signal or intermediate loss of connectivity
2) From the App Store, go to the Menu Bar, Store > Sign out.
3) Navigate to the /Applications folder and drag the partially completed download of the installer to the trash.
4) Open the App store, sign back in, and redownload Mavericks.

I am having trouble downloading attachments from email

I have an iPad 2 that has been upgraded to IOS 7.0.4. This was a problem before the update - which is the reason for the update but that's another story.
So for now, iPad 2 IOS 7.0.4 16GB wifi/cell model
I am having trouble downloading attachments. Not all. but some. a movie in particular and some documents.
I would thingk it was the email account but I can open it on my iPhone without issue.
I would've thought the link was bad but I forwarded it one of my other email accounts and it opens fine.
I have restarted, rebooted, deleated the mail account and reloaded it.
Still nothing. I have tried to save the video by clicking the "Save Video" icon when you tap and hold the video but it never saves.
Sometimes it will act like it is going to save because I get a black screen and a rotating flower in the middle of the screen and it says "Loading" but it never does anything. Other times it will just give me a message that says "Can't download attachement".
Any one have any thoughts?

See if you can update the driver with the local media, then re-boot and see if it will download again. I have seen updates break drivers, once a new driver is installed the systems returns to a normal state.
Quickbooks 2015 should not be effecting this section of the Server.
Click Here for the Microsoft Windows Update Trouble Shooter, it might help you out also.
Another one people run into is, "with large hard drives (1TB) and "Intel Rapid Storage Technology (RST)"
drivers needed to be updated. Once the drivers updated windows update started working fine."
This might help you out also, "Windows Update Cannot Check for Updates."

if you can get online, run all software updates.
make sure to get all OSX updates, Java, and security updates.
go to the apple.com site, and click on the Quicktime tab. see if you can view any movie trailers.
another trouble shooting step would be to have a direct connection to the modem.
are you connected wirelessly or by ethernet?
has it worked before? when did it stop? what browser are you using? have you tried another browser?
if you are using Safari. Click on the word Safari in the upper right, and choose Reset Safari.
you can create a new user on the computer , and see if the issue persists in the new user. if it does not persist, then you can isolate the issue to a preference file or .plist
if it is a .plist then you can locate the corresponding file in ~/library/preferences ( ~ indicates your home folder ) take com.apple.safari.plist and drag it to the trash, then restart. see if issue persists .
if the issue does persist in a new user, then the issue is system wide and could be the application itself or an OS issue. you can try removing and reinstalling the application, or archiving and installing the OS .
with more information, we can get more specific

Can't Download Anything Adobe after Tech Support "Help"

I was having trouble installing the trial of InDesign CS5. It told me to uninstall then reinstall. It then would not even let me uninstall it. I tried to use the CS5 clean sweep and that did not work. I then made the biggest mistake of my life and called tech support and foolishly watched as some girl from India hacked my computer all to pieces from the inside! Now my microsoft office won't work and I can't download anything adobe! Not even reader. Here is an error message that I get whenever I try to download Adobe Reader:
Error 1402.Could not open key:
UNKNOWN\Components\DA42BC89BF25F5BD0AF18C3B9B1A1EE8\68AB67CA7DA73301B7449A0300000010.
Verify that you have sufficient access to that key, or contact your support personnel.

Thanks. I actually did that after I posted this and it restored everything back to normal. It's all working again. I just can't believe someone would go into the registry and start screwing around when they actually have no idea what they are doing. Adobe tech support is horrible.

Without proper system information and other details nobody can help you. and this error means what it says - some other install process is still active, even if it may not do so visible. Could be a silent update of a virus scanner or something, could be a botched install of another program, not even specifically Adobe. As a start, always reboot your computer and then try again. For anything else we need much more info.

Trouble downloading songs from the Cloud

Hi, I'm having trouble downloading songs onto my iPhone 4. My sister just bought a bunch of songs on her iPhone 4, and they showed up in my phone, but will not download. When I tried to go through iTunes to download them, instead of using the Cloud, they will not download and the message "Download error. Tap to retry." appears even though I've tried see real times. Is there anything I can do to download them?

Disk Utility has two things (at least my old version does), First Aid and Permissions. If your drive reports problems when verifying with FA then you have to boot from another drive to try to repair. Permissions can run on active boot disk. Run FA before Permissions.
On occasion I have had FA report problems when verifying on my active boot disk and I think it was because files were changing and it was seeing errors that weren't really there. I frequently verify my active drive (quit all applications) and have it report all-clear so usually I verify the active drive and only verify externally if I see an issue.
On the beachball issue, how long do you let it go before force quit? Some things just take a long time to process, and smartlists can be a pretty heavy demand in iTunes.
