Trouble downloading desktop software (once finished, no text, just squares)

I have downloaded and installed/uninstalled 3 times. Each time, it seems to be fine, but once the desktop software loads (PC, XP), there is no text on the screen, just squares...any ideas? Thanks in advance

hello,
I think it is not an issue with the DesktopSoftware installer you are downloading, but rather the application wanting to use a font that is currently not installed on your PC.
a font is a file that contains letters drawn in a special way.
for example :
this is arial
this is courier new
this is verdata
this is comic sans MS
this is georgia
and so on.
your fonts are located in the C:\WINNT\Fonts folder. This folder should contain at least 150 files, each file is a font set.
My intuition is that the Windows XP that you have installed is not from a regular country. Maybe it was an old Windows 2000 installation that was migrated up to Windows XP, but without all the new fancy fonts.
Maybe it's a special XP edition that lacks some fonts.
I think what you can do is what I had to do when I wanted to have the Calibri font (the one in Office 2007) on my Windows 2000 PC at home. Please follow one of the two installation links given on the following webpage. Basically you are installing a Microsoft free software that will contain several fonts, maybe the fonts the DesktopSoftware is looking for will be among them.
http://labnol.blogspot.com/2007/03/download-windows-vista-fonts-legally.html
Please tell me how it goes. Currently I am still using DesktopSoftware5 but one day or another, I will upgrade and maybe I will also be missing fonts.

Are you using the same apple ID and password?
it seems all is in order, but perhaps the password isn't valid.
if the reset didn't work, try signing out of iTunes and App Store, then back in.
have you tried going to App Store - purchased and tapping on the cloud icon for the apps you want?   You will still be asked for your password.

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
Interesting...well, I am downloading it right now with no 404, which would I think rule out a problem at the RIM webisite end. So, the only thing I can think of is that there is something in your internet routing that is somehow blocking it. Maybe you should start over from this point:
    http://us.blackberry.com/apps-software/desktop/?lid=us:bboftwareesktopSoftware&lpos=us:bboftware
I was also going to comment that RIM does not yet support Desktop Software 7.x, but that seems to have changed sometime today!
    Good luck!

Please do not type in all capital letters, it makes you look rude. In forums it's considered shouting.
Now what version of desktop manager would you like to download from this site?
We also have the documentation as well.

Thanks for the quick response. I cleared cache and it allows me to download now. Funny how I didnt think of it.
However, that brings me to another question. I can download OS 4.5 but then I will need the same version for my phone. How can I upgrade it ? I have an unlocked phone from T-Mobile.
As last time my phone had 4.2 and the desktop software was 4.1 it crashed the blackberry's software and i had to re-install. On T-Mobile site I did not find the 4.5 version for my 8700. I would however like to upgrade without the hassle of re-installing the entire thing again.
    Thanks.

    Hi...
You can update your Desktop Manager to 4.5 or 4.6. You don't need to update your software on the Blackberry Handheld. Only if you want to use the newer features of the 4.5.0.81 which will work on the 8700g. If your carrier has not published the 4.5 Handheld OS, remember you will not get any support if you need to call your carriers Helpdesk and are running an OS that is currently not supported.

Dear respected community members, I have and still love my old BB Bold 9780, but alas do not have a desktop software for it, while for an older one the Curve 8520, I could completely download. Anyone of the respected community members, provide me with a way out ? So that I may download a desktop software manager for my BB BOLD 9780. Thank you very much indeed. Harro

  • Download desktop software 7

    helo
I previously had the blackberry software 5 on my pc i removed it, but now i am trying to download the new software and it keeps on saying the file could not be downloaded.
    what should i do?

I don't know what browser you are using, nor what other things about your computer might be affecting this (e.g., virus protection, download blockers, etc.). You should investigate carefully all of those things about your computer to ensure that nothing is preventing this. Also be sure to try other downloads as a comparison basis (e.g., to rule out the BlackBerry site as causal). You might try these sites to see if you can download something close (but perhaps not quite) to the current version from them:
    http://www.blackberryforums.com/rim-software/253387-archived-rim-desktop-software.html#post1744114
    http://www.blackberryos.com/downloads.php?do=cat&id=110
I can tell you that I just now again downloaded that file with no problems...so my guess is that it's something about your computer or your network connection that is blocking this download from automatically starting.
    Good luck!

  • Download desktop software before buying phone?

I'm an iPhone user but am getting ready to buy my first BlackBerry...possibly the Storm when it comes out, or some other model if Storm is crazily expensive.  My question is that if I download the Desktop Software 4.3 now, can I begin to input/import contact info and other data on my desktop, then when I actually have the phone I could just synch all this very quickly?  My contact info and other date will come from various sources so this process could get complicated and messy.  Does this make sense, or it it even possible?  I'm an independent consultant so this BlackBerry will be for personal use....no corporate network involvement.  I'm using a Compaq Presario desktop running Vista Home Premium.

The Desktop Software doesn't actually store any of the information. You can use if you backup the device data, but that file is saved on your computer. Just think of it as a conduit through which information can be exchange between your email client and your BlackBerry .
Check out tanzim's post here. He have excellent steps on how to synchronize
    http://supportforums.blackberry.com/rim/board/message?board.id=BlackBerryDesktopSoftware&message.id=...
You can use the Switch Device Wizard to import data from a Palm onto a BlackBerry, but both device have to be connected to the computer: http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB05459
Let me know if that makes sense or if there's any other questions you have

HELP PLSSSSSS....I am having the same problem.Any time i download and try to open it tells me this is not a valid win 32 application.

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
Given your description, your post was split off to a thread of it's own as it is not, from your description, the same issue as the thread into which you posted.
The error you are receiving...is that after a fully successful download of the desktop software? If not, then the error makes sense since the download did not complete.
    Please let us know!
