Trouble Downloading Driver Updates

X( HELP!
Whenever I try to download any of the driver/BIOS updates, it starts the download, gets about 200k downloaded, and then just stops with no error. I've tried to download BIOS, drivers, VGA drivers, even the updated Live Update Utility. I've also tried this several times over the last couple of months and always get the same result.
Any idea what could be causing this? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Go to the boards product page and download them manually, live update isn't the best thing around.

iTunes Support wasn't of any use to me.
I have also been having another problem - with BBC iPlayer and other video streaming not working due to insufficient bandwidth, despite my overall download speed being consistently around 50Gb. This is also affecting AppleTV downloads
I am using Virgin Media as my ISP, and was wondering whether you do as well. This might be the common thread.

How do i disconnect wireless printer connection when downloading driver updates?

My printer is only printing blank pages. I have tried cleaning printheads, etc. and I am now trying to download driver updates. The instructions say to disconnect the printer from the computer, but I am connected through a wireless connection. I'm not sure how to properly disconnect that.

Driver updates are for your print driver in your computer.... You can simply power down your printer.
Although I work for HP, I am speaking for myself and not for HP.

My HP Support Assistant is downloading driver updates but not installing,

Hello there,
I use HP 15-r046tu Notebook PC, the issue is my HP Support Assistant is downloading driver updates and every single time its failing to install. I even saw earlier posts on this issue and downloaded the latest support assistant and also followed the instructions but yet its not helping to solve the issue. btw i am using windows 8.1.
I would really appreciate if one could help me solve this isuee.

Commentary
Depending on the underlying cause of the problem, the HPSA (HP Support Assistant) may never be able to install the updates on your particular system. The problem could be a server problem, it could be the Internet path the data has to take to get to your part of the planet, it might be your Internet provider that, at any particular moment in time, is not cooperating, it is possible that your computer is having RPC issues due to outdated drivers, File System errors --- whatever.
IF you find and fix whatever mystery is causing the root cause of the prlblem, then Voila! The install portion of the program may work.
This wonderful program works for millions of people -- and yet it does not work for many deserving folks who have done nothing wrong and who do not know why it does not work for them.
Make sure your Windows Updates are current.
Create a Restore Point: Create a Restore Point – Win7 OR Create a restore point Win8
Next:
Close all your programs and shut down your computer
Shut down and Switch off any other computers in the network
Switch off any printers on the network
Switch off the Router
Disconnect everything on this computer (little Unifier for the keyboard / external mouse can stay)
Perform the Hard Reset for your notebook model
Switch on the router - wait at least thirty seconds for the router to boot.
Boot the computer and log in
Reminder: Hard Reset is just a device Reset. The procedure does not wipe out your files nor does it destroy your Windows setup in any way. It just "clears the cobwebs". Depending on the cause of the problem, this kind of "reset" can fix a variety of computer glitches.
This exercise is unlikely to fix the problem; it might do so if the problem is minor and related to stuck instructions or minor temporary link or device issues.
Suggested Workaround to the problem
You can use the Patch list provided by HPSA and then open your computer's website to find, download, and install the drivers and software you want to update.
NOTE: Please see the Comments below before you Update your BIOS. Please do not update the BIOS unless it is necessary and your computer is fully backed up beforehand.

Commentary -- BIOS Updates
It is this Expert's opinion that you should not depend on HP Support Assistant when it comes to BIOS updates.
Depending on other factors in the system at the time the HPSA tries to hit your system with an update of this type; the results might be ... other than expected.
You might set HPSA to "Notify" to prevent it from trying to update your BIOS.
ONLY update the BIOS when you see an update in your computer's webpage AND that update can be used to provide a fix for an issue you have discovered in your system. In other words: If your computer is happy, do not update the BIOS just because you think it would be a nice thing to do to it.
If you decide to update your BIOS,
Make sure ALL your backups are current and complete - this means everything you need to restore the system in the event that something goes wrong.
Understand that even when you do everything exactly right, you can end up with a bricked computer, that is, an expensive paper weight.
Make sure you have at least your critical data on some form of external backup.
Disconnect USB drives and any other unnecessary hardware. Keyboard and mouse can stay connected.
Always run in AC power when updating the BIOS, never on the notebook battery
Do not touch the system while the update is in progress
Optional: Leave wireless button ON. You might switch off the router to assure there are no interruptions.

Trouble downloading and updating new os 4.2.1

I don't know if anyone else has had this problem. It has been weeks of trying to download and update my iPhone 4 with the new os. When it is just about done downloading, it will pop up a screen saying "error, it has timed out. please check your internet connections." FYI I'm plugged into wall. I didn't have a problem updating the previous os. I've also uninstalled all Apple programs and reinstalled and it has changed nothing. Any suggestions on what to do?? I can't restore my phone either b/c it requires me to d/l the new os and I CAN'T!!! Please help!!!

If firewalls or security software has been ruled out, Go to http://www.speedguide.net:8080 to see if there are any network setting issue.
If you have another computer available, you can do a restore and update on it and then come back to sync your info back to this computer.

Troubles downloading the update for iphone

When I try to download the update, it goes fine until 95% then it stops. The error message is something about lost connection, but there's no lost connection. And the firewall doesn't stop it either. I need to update it because I bought some apps, that doesn't work properly without the update. I checked if itunes was in the exception list, so the antivirus doesn't stop it, and it is. Any clues? Do you think it would download properly by cable instead of wireless internet?

If you're having problems downloading iOS 4.2.1, and get an 3259 error, try this:
For a 3GS, download the iOS 4.2.1 IPSW package
http://appldnld.apple.com/iPhone4/061-9895.20101122.Cdew2/iPhone2,14.2.1_8C148aRestore.ipsw
It's better to use a download manager, like Free Download Manager, GetRight, etc.
Once you have the file in your PC, open iTunes and connect the iPhone.
Now, hold the Shift key on your PC keyboard and click on Update.
A file dialog will appear. Locate the IPSW file you downloaded and follow the regular update instructions.

Is anyone having trouble downloading the update

i see that there is no posts on people not being able to get the update. this confuses me because i can't get the update unlike everyone else.

Apple's servers are getting bombarded by people trying to download the update. The only option at the moment is to delay downloading it for a while, perhaps the middle of the night in the US, when hopefully the servers will be less busy.

HT1420 Trouble downloading iTunes update...

I was prompted to download an update to iTunes. I did so and it did not finish downloading properly. An error message said I may need to check that I have proper authorizations. I don't know how to do this, and now I cannot access iTunes. Any ideas?

Trouble downloading mpeg2 update

I just purchased the mpeg2 update for Quicktime - and it doesn't download for me - it didn't do it automatically - so I went into my account and hit "Download" and it didn't work - it keeps telling me it "failed". I double cliked what is supposed to be on my desktop - but then when I double click it - I get that message that it failed.

whoah! I finally got mine to work as well. What's with this? I just receieved an e-mail from support (once again) saying "blah blah blah - the problem has been escalated and you will hear from us again within 24 hours" - lol they send the same e-mail everytime I respond back and say it didn't work. Either way, at least it works for me now. Like I said, I used the re-installer and went back to .01 - and also reset my Safari browser - and then tried it but still, nothing - and now it works -
I'd still kind of like a reason for that....but anyway...
I have a question - after it downloaded - it left a .dmg file on my desktop - can I get rid of that? or should I put it in the Quicktime folder - I've only had a Mac for a week now, and I really don't know what a .dmg file is - like, I know sometimes downloads mount on your desktop, but with something that automatically downloads - why does it leave stuff laying around? it left a hard drive looking icon that says "Mpeg 2 update" as well - like, if I was to re-install it - I could click on those - should I keep them?

After a lot of frustrtaion, I restored my computer to a date before I tried the initial install. Works great - don't need the update.
