Trouble downloading iOS 4.2 to my iphone4

I recently upgraded from an iphone 3 to iphone 4. My iphone 3 had the 4.2 software on it and i backed it up to my computer. When i plugged in my iphone4 it asked me to update to 4.2 as it is currently on 4.1. Everytime i download the update (i have done this numerous times now) the same thing occurs as it finishes and says processing it then brings up an error message saying err= -3259. I need this update so i can get all my contacts on the phone from my old iphone.
Has anyone else had this problem. Can you please help im really losing patience with it all and wish i never upgraded.
Thanks
Alana

Although this refers to the iTunes store with iTunes, the same applies when downloading and installing a firmware update.

  • HT4972 I am having trouble downloading iOS 5 connected to my laptop.  Says I don't have network connection but I do.

I am having trouble downloading iOS 5 connected to my laptop.  Says I don't have network connection but I do.  Please help.  I purchased tv programs and it is telling me I need ios5 to watch and I downloaded it to cloud but have to have this app also.  On my iPad I don't have an updates button under settings like I have seen other iPads have.

You only have the option if you are already running iOS 5 already. If you are trying to update to iOS 5, you have to use iTunes on a computer to update the iPad.
    Here are the instructions.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4972
Or you can connect the iPad to the computer, launch iTunes. Select the iPad under the devices heading on the left, click on the Summary tab and then click on Check for Update

If you are having problems with the download, try disabling your firewall and anti virus software until after the download completes.

  • Trouble downloading ios 5 for 3gs

I'm having trouble downloading IOS 5 to my 3gs. What the problem is that it's taking forever to backup my phone as the first step. I know the pop says it could take over an hour to backup. My second attempt was going on 7 hours and still trying to backup!!!!!! I've try again and still having the same issues today... Anyone know why or having the same issues as me???? Thanks!

    Hello lira210,
Put your iPhone in DFU Mode and you can skip the Backup process.
For getting into DFU Mode watch:

Note: If you entered the DFU Mode you only can Restore your iPhone. Your Data will be lost and you have to put it back on after the restore.

  • Haveing trouble downloading ios 4.2

every time i start to download the new ios for my itouch it gets half way and says it is unable to download help

Usually this indicates a firewall problem (check your settings) or a really poor network connection that just times out. If you were running a PC, I would also tell you to turn off your anti-virus. If you are running some kind of anti-virus, turn it off.

If you are currently running an iOS lower than 5.0, connect to your computer & click on the "Update your device using iTunes".
Tip - You may need to disable your firewall and anitvirus software temporarily.  Then download and install the iOS update. Be sure and backup your iPad before the iOS update. After you update to iOS 5/6.x, the next update can be installed via wifi (i.e., not connected to your computer).

The problem is that i cannot find out where the file wich I was downloading at the beginning is, considering that i was almost at the end of the download and Idon't want to have more that 1GB corrupted fiel on my hard disk.
Can anyone tell me how to find out where it is and delete it?

msvcrt.dll is a Microsoft Visual C++ runtime library, julien.
Although there are several different copies and versions of msvcrt.dll on any given machine (for example, on my Lenovo, I've got 16 of them), probably the most likely one with a version 7.0.2600.5512 to be causing you trouble is an operating system file.
So, if it's damaged, an sfc /scannow may be of assistance. It's user-unfriendly on XP, but the following document may be of some help with the common pitfalls:
