Trouble Downloading IPhone OS4 Update

i download it, and it gets to 1 second.. completes and then comes up with a small window saying could not complete and goes off the screen, I've been trying for the past few hours, i've restarted my computer several times and restarted my IPhone (3Gs)
I'm doing all this in windows vista
I've read several people having the same trouble and they are saying its the battery, this isn't in my case, my phone is a couple of months old at the most
thanks for your help, in advance

I'm having the same problem, it keeps telling me that my internet is not connected, but I'm on the internet so I know that it's working. I've only had this phone since March, it's a 32 GB iPhone 3GS.

Quick answer if you use iTunes' default preferences settings:  Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its subfolders and files) intact to the other drive.  Hold down the option (alt) key (shift on Windows) and open iTunes.  At the prompt to create or choose a library choose the copied iTunes folder.

  • When downloading Iphone software update (version 4.0), I get error message

When downloading Iphone software update (version 4.0), I get error message (stopped err = -3259). Is there a solution for this???

    Did anyone solve this?
I'm still having this issue. I also had the same issue when trying to download a large update for an app (43MB). I can download and install smaller udpates but I can't even download the large updates. I've checked all of my firewall settings and they are fine. I've turned off the firewall when trying to download the update and it still does not work. It just keeps saying that my network connection timed out.
I'm not at the stage where I can't install new apps because it requires the latest OS version on my iphone which I can't get!

  • Error while downloading iPhone app updates

Yesterday I tried to download two iPhone app updates. The app store showed the two updates that were available, but when I tried to update them, it kept giving me an error message saying that my iTunes store request could not be completed. I am up to date on iPhone, iTunes, and OS X software, so I don't know why it did this. I had no problem downloading the updates directly to my iPhone. Any ideas? I did catch my wife a few weeks ago plugging her iPhone into the Mac while I was logged in (we have separate user accounts on the computer). I immediately ejected it from iTunes and unplugged it. I didn't notice any changes after that, either in my iTunes library or on her iPhone. Did this make any changes that I may not have noticed? Also, this past weekend I purchased some music in my iTunes account and had no problems downloading it and syncing it to my iPod.
Edit: I guess I should have seen the Error 5002 thread. That is what mine is doing. Itunes account set for 1-click. No problem on iPod, just on iPhone apps.

I'm having the same problem. The download finishes and then it says an unknown error occurred. It says it has something to do with my network connection, but I don't think that's the problem.
Did you find a solution yet?
I tried to reinstall iTunes but it didn't work.

  • Always have issues downloading iPhone software updates

I have ongoing issues downloading iPhone software, I've been trying for weeks to get the latest update. It will begin to download and get relatively close then time out, my internet connection disconnects and I get an error message in iTunes that the network connection is gone or something to that effect.
    Any suggestions?

What kind of Internet connection do you have? One thing I have done just to make sure nothing happens to the iPhone when I'm updating is when it asks about updating, I tell it to just download the update, not download and update. That way if the download fails, it doesn't affect the iPhone. Sometimes as Internet traffic gets heavy it can affect the downloading. Slow connections can also affect this.

  • Why do I keep failing to download iPhone Software Update 2.1?

I was excited to see that iPhone software update 2.1 solves many of my current problems, but I tried it countless times and each time I get *error 9006* halfway through the download asking me to check my network connections.
Can anyone help??? Thanks a lot.

    Download the file directly:
iPhone 3G 2.1 direct download (note that this is for the _iPhone 3G_ only)
Original iPhone 2.1 direct download (note that this is for the _Original iPhone_ only)
Once you download the update file, you simply connect your iPhone, and press the option key (Mac) or the shift key (Windows) while clicking the Update button in iTunes, and you'll be prompted to locate the file you downloaded.

  • Trouble downloading Yosemite Recovery Update 1.0

    Hi folks!
So, like many of you, judging from other postings here, I had great difficulty downloading and installing the 10.10.3 update via the App Store. It would just hang and hang and hang. However, downloading the Combo Updater directly from the Apple Support site took minutes.
Unfortunately, I have encountered the exact same problem with the Recovery Update. I have followed all the troubleshooting steps I could find (clearing the App Store cache and temporary items, repairing permissions, etc.). It still is taking hours and hours to download, and has just given up more than a few times. Indeed, it is listed numerous times in the "recently installed" section, and yet, it does not appear to have ever successfully installed.
To make it all a little more interesting, I tried downloading a game through the App Store, and it worked perfectly. So, this problem seems to be specific to Mac OS updates. Thus, I am starting to think that the App Store, in itself, is not the problem.
Furthermore, although perhaps unrelated, it took hours and hours to update my iPad and my iPhone to the latest iOS yesterday. Are there servers just overloaded? Is that possibly still a factor at this point today?
I cannot seem to find a direct download at the Apple site for the Recovery Update, nor can I figure out how to check if perhaps it DID install. It's clearly not as simple as checking the OS version, or the version of this or that application.
Has anyone else managed to get around this somehow?
    Thank you!

I am very sorry to hear that. Perhaps you won't want to read this, then, but I think it finally installed correctly. I tried yet again shortly after my last post and left it to do something else. Now, it has been listed as "installed" perhaps a dozen times, but as you know, it would just time out or give up or whatever, and the "Update" option would still be there. This time, that option is gone, and there is no longer a notification number indicating an update is available. With great trepidation, I reloaded the page, but still no change. So I think it has finally installed legitimately.
This does not mean, however, that the problem (which remains unidentified) has been solved. All it means is I am stubborn. Why it took several days to download and install a little 500 MB update is beyond me.

  • Trouble downloading since iCloud update

Since the iCloud update I'm having trouble downloading files.
Some files I can download without any trouble, but for most of the files the download stops after 4kb.
I know for sure that the files are not corrupt, because I can all download them on my old windows-pc.
I don't believe it is necessarily a safari problem because firefox and Jdownloader do it also.
By downloading I mostly mean downloading from sites like fileserve, rapidshare etc.
You can say that this is all illegal stuf, but that's not true. I can't even download the files I uploaded myself.

Is there really nobody who can help me, please?

  • Trouble downloading a Lightroom Update

I have a lap top (Windows 8) and  had Lightroom 4.4. I bought the LR update disc and  successfully downloaded Lightroom 5.2 onto my laptop.
However, on my desktop I have Vista. When I tried to download the LR update, it keeps saying that my PC must have at least Windows 7. Well, Vista is later than Windows 7. How do I get past this?

  • Error while downloading iphone firmware update (error code -3254)

    Hey guys,
I am using the German versions of iTunes and the iPhone. When I connect the iPhone to my machine, iTunes starts up and proceeds to inform me that a new firmware update is available. After the license agreement is confirmed, nothing seems to happen for a few sceonds. Then, an error message pops up which tells me that "an unknown error has occured". The error code is -3254.
I searched Google and these forums for variations of this problem, but couldn't find anything suitable. The error code is not mentioned anywhere.
My iTunes version is 7.6.1.9 (running on Windows XP)
My iPhone has firmware version 1.1.3 (failed while upgrading to version 1.1.4)
I found out that similar errors can be caused by firewall misconfigurations, but the built-in iTunes diagnosis tool didn't report any connection problems (I also temporarily opened all of my router UDP ports, didn't help at all).
    Any help would be appreciated.

I'm having the same problem. The download finishes and then it says an unknown error occurred. It says it has something to do with my network connection, but I don't think that's the problem.

I tried to reinstall iTunes but it didn't work.

  • Trouble downloading flash player-update

    Hello,
I'm having trouble installing - to be more specific: even downloading - the new Adobe Flash Player Version. When I'm on the "get.adobe.com/de/flashplayer/" - site and clicking the "Jetzt installieren"-button, I'm only redirected to "adobe.de", nothing else is happening. I haven't had this problem ever since I'm using flash, so I would be really thankful, if anybody could help me. I'm using Firefox by the way, newest version, and Windows 7.
    Best regards!

I have been chasing this problem for a week or so.  I am unable to download Flash Player or Shockwave Player, updates or new editions.   I am on a win 7 64 bit Home Preium machine with Firefox 25.  I got notice of an update and I've been having problems with streaming video from several sites so decided I would spend more time chasing this problem.  So, I'm back here yelling  "HELP" .  When I try to download, I get caught in a loop between pages that won't permit download.  I hit "Install Now" on the Flash Player page at http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/  and get sent right back to the page I left.  Same thing happens with Shockwave Player.  When I do your link, it still happens exactly the same way.
Maybe youse guyses just don't like andythebeagle??  I'll understand.

  • Can´t download iPhone software update

    Hi,
I'm new to the iPhone and every time I sync it I get asked about the newest update (2.2) so I tell iTunes to download it, apparently it's quite heavy. The thing is that after one minute or so the downloading is interrupted and get an error 9006.
I've tried multiple times with no results. Help please?
    And thanks in advance

I have this same exact problem on my windows xp system. I get a server connection error but i am able to connect to itunes store and regular internet explorer. Also if i do try to update it and it does give me the server connection error, my connection drops and i have to restart my computer.

  • 7.7 - Install error? Can't download iPhone firmware update

I downloaded 7.7 yesterday and got an install error, but when I opened it up, it said it was version 7.7 and had the Application menu item. So I thought all was dandy!
But when I tried to update my iPhone to 2.0, a message popped up that said I need 7.7 installed. I clicked "Update," was taken to Software Update, but of course nothing was found.
Then I thought I'd try to download it manually, but the download links are nowhere to be found on apple's site: http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Any ideas? Please help! I want to get 2.0 installed before I leave for work.

You have to wait several minutes for iTunes to recognize any new iPod or iPhone after the 7.7 update. There is a major bug with the program. Apple has removed the download from their servers, which I don't think they have ever done, even with minor issues of previous iTunes releases in the past... I'm sure they are working on it and I hope to see iTunes 7.7.1 ready to download soon. You probably can't update any firmware/software until Apple fixes things...
