Trouble downloading movies from the cloud to new pc computer (windows 8)

We just added our itunes account to a new computer and are trying to download our previously purchased movies from the cloud but they will not download. it keeps freezing. any suggestions?

Hello jarhna,
Thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing with your downloading items you purchased from iTunes.  I don't think you're doing anything wrong, but I did find an article that has steps to address the error you are getting:
iTunes Store: "Error (-50)" when downloading purchased content

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

Apple doesn't own the copyrights to any of the entertainment content they sell. They are just the retailer. If the copyright owner decides they no longer what their product available on the iTunes Store then it will no longer be available. There's not a lot Apple can do about that. What it also says, at the bottom of the page in the fine print is:
Previous purchases may be unavailable if they are no longer in the iTunes Store... So backup your purchases. I backup all my purchases to local storage and do not depend on a third party to keep my data safe. It is your responsiblity.

  • Can't download movies from the cloud

I have an iMac which is an authorized computer on my itunes, everytime I try to play something from the cloud a little grey cloud with horizontal lines moving through its shows up an nothing happens.  Please advise

According to the trms of the iTunes and app stores - all sales are final. but that doe not mean that you can't try anyway. People ask for refunds all the time. Use the Express Lane email to contact iTunes.

You can still download the other movies in iTunes on your computer. Launch iTunes and go to Store>Check for Available Downloads. You can download them in iTunes and then sync them to the iPad later. When you are done watching the first movie, you can transfer it into iTunes on your computer, delete it from the iPad and you will have the room for another movie on the device. To transfer the movie when you are done with it, you can use the transfer purchases feature.
    Transfer purchases.

If the photos that you lost were photos that you took with the iPad, they should be in your iPad backup - if you sync with iTunes or if you backup with iCloud.

  • Trouble downloading songs from the Cloud

Hi, I'm having trouble downloading songs onto my iPhone 4. My sister just bought a bunch of songs on her iPhone 4, and they showed up in my phone, but will not download. When I tried to go through iTunes to download them, instead of using the Cloud, they will not download and the message "Download error. Tap to retry." appears even though I've tried see real times. Is there anything I can do to download them?

Disk Utility has two things (at least my old version does), First Aid and Permissions.  If your drive reports problems when verifying with FA then you have to boot from another drive to try to repair.  Permissions can run on active boot disk. Run FA before Permissions.
On occasion I have had FA report problems when verifying on my active boot disk and I think it was because files were changing and it was seeing errors that weren't really there.  I frequently verify my active drive (quit all applications) and have it report all-clear so usually I verify the active drive and only verify externally if I see an issue.
On the beachball issue, how long do you let it go before force quit?  Some things just take a long time to process, and smartlists can be a pretty heavy demand in iTunes.

  • HT2589 I already have 2 devices on one apple ID account and want to add apple TV.  How do I add another device on an existing apple ID account so that I can download movies from the cloud to any of 3 devices?

how do I add another device on to my apple ID account so that I can download movies etc.. from my icloud to any of the 3 devices on the account?   I already have my iphone and ipad on the account and for some reason my 3rd device (apple TV) dropped off.   If you can help, greatly appreciated!!

    Hello there, HannaGriffin.
Since the Apple TV (1st Generation) is the only one that has storage, I would recommend the following Knowledge Base articles for troubleshooting issues with authorization:
Apple TV (1st generation) may not play content purchased from the iTunes Store

  • I am having trouble downloading a previously purchased movie from the Cloud.

The movie in question is "The Mist." I have purchased a lot of movies from iTunes lately, and to save room on my Mac, I have moved all the movie files onto a portable hard drive and simply deleted them from my Mac. Thus, whenever I want to watch a movie, I just transfer it from my hard drive back onto my Mac no problem, and watch the movie. Somehow, "The Mist" got deleted from my hard drive, so I figured "No worries, I'll just download it from the Cloud and get the file back. I've done it before!"
iTunes does this frustrating thing where even if you delete the video file from your computer, the movie thumbnail still shows up in your movies library, and I guess the Cloud considers this as you still having the movie on your computer, because when I went to my purchase history, it said the movie was already downloaded on my computer, when in fact it was not (it also said this for all my other movies, which are not on my computer but on my PHD). Only after I deleted the thumbnail for the movie did it show up under "Not on this computer" and allow me to hit the download button. Then I get this message saying "This computer is already associated with an Apple ID. You can download past purchases on this computer with just one Apple ID every 90 days. This computer can be used with a different Apple ID in 80 days." It will not let me download my previously purchased movie!
I have already tried logging out and back in again, that did nothing. Do I seriously have to wait 90 days to redownload my movie again? Like, is that a thing? What if you have a hard drive wipe, and have to redownload everything from the Cloud again; would you seriously only be able to redownload all your movies in 90 day incriments? What if I need to redownload multiple purchased movies at once, do I have to wait 90 days in between each one?
Am I the only one having this problem? If so, any help would be appreciated.
If this is not a "problem" and merely a "thing" iTunes does for security reasons, then this is a complaint. I have legally purchased this movie under the same account that I'm currently trying to redownload it through, I find it ridiculous that I should have to wait 90 days; you don't have to wait this long for downloading multiple apps/songs/books. Alternatively, trying to redownload the movie from its store page on iTunes is not an option, because as far as I can tell, iTunes does not let you redownload already purchased movies from their store page, as with apps/songs/books. If you try to re-purchase a movie, in the hopes that it will simply let you download it for free, seeing as how you've ALREADY purchased it, instead it'll gladly charge you again for movie. So no, I am not willing to purchase the movie again, I would just like to re-download it from the Cloud as I've done with other movies before it. I don't know what makes this one different.

I agree. I don't rely on iCloud as a backup, that is what I have my portable hard drive for. Its 500 GB so I can hold my entire iTunes library several times over on it. I have all my movies on my hard drive, but somehow "The Mist" got deleted off of my hard drive, so I figured "Well, the option to redownload an already purchased movie is available through iCloud, I'll just do that!"
And permissions and download availability have nothing to do with it, the movie's still there, it still allows me to redownload it. The only problem is when I click download, I get that message.
And nobody else uses my computer, but I do have multiple accounts authorized on it. Even still though, I am attepmpting to download it through the account I purchased it under. :/

You can re-download content purchased from the iTunes store (availability varies depending on location) using the purchased option from the Quick Links section in the top right corner of the iTunes homepage in your iTunes application on your computer.

    Hello Addymay2,
I would recommend signing out of your Apple ID in Settings -> iTunes and App Stores. After this, close all open apps and restart your device. Once your iPad is powered back up, sign back into your Apple ID in Settings -> iTunes and App Stores.
iOS: Sign in with a different Apple ID in the iTunes Store, App Store, and iBooks Store
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1311
iOS: Force an app to close

Turn your iOS device off and on (restart) and reset

  • HT4539 how do I download information from the cloud.  I just purchased a new phone?

How do you download information from the cloud?  I just purchased a new phone?

What information are you referring to?  You may mean restoring an iCloud backup from a previous device.  Or you may mean adding iCloud calendars, contacts, etc. to your iPhone.
In the former case (restoring a backup), the setup assistant should walk you through that process.
In the latter case (adding contacts, etc.), simply set up your iPhone as an iCloud device in Settings > iCloud.

  • Lost the ringtone I purchased when I downloaded tunes from the cloud?

Lost the ringtone I purchased when I downloaded tunes from the cloud?

Downloading (using iOS or computer) past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store - http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519 - enabled with iTunes 10.3 and newer; not all media formats are available in all countries (see: iTunes in the Cloud, iTunes Match, and iTunes Radio availability by country - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5085); apps, books (not audiobooks), music, t.v. shows, and movies (some - not all studios have permitted this).  Downloading previously purchased movies and TV shows requires iTunes 10.6 or later.  Discontinued items not available. For items not included in the iCloud list (e.g., ringtones, audiobooks), or locations or computer systems where iCloud is not (yet?) available, you only get one download per fee paid.  Apple recommends,  "You always back up your iTunes library in the event that a purchased item is no longer available on the iTunes Store," (http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519).

  • How do I download photos from the cloud to an Iphone 5c

My wife's iphone 5 got destroyed and she got a replacement iphone 5c, and none of her photos are there, how do I go about trying to download them from the cloud.  These photos were only taken on her phone, and her itunes is on a PC not a Mac.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

"The cloud" just means "her account on a server somewhere." Since you're asking how to get her photos out of the cloud, the next question is, which cloud storage service was she backing up her photos to? Apple iCloud? Google Photos? Dropbox? Flickr?
Once you know which service she was using, all that should be needed is to log into that account on her new phone. For iCloud, she would log in from the Settings app and then turn on the Photos switch; for non-Apple cloud photo backup she probably needs to download that service's app like the Google app or the Dropbox app. Once she is logged in to the service she was using, her photos should be accessible and downloadable.

That's fine. With cloud services, the server is the central location and the device doesn't matter; any compatible device (Mac, PC, phone, tablet etc.) can upload or download files with the cloud server.

  • ATV 3 won't play my purchased movies from the cloud

    Hi,
Since updating the software, my ATV3 wont play any movies I have previously purchased. I can download them from the cloud to my mac and stream from there, but the ATV tries to play thethen says it can't connect to the iTunes server. I can browse the rentals with no issue though.
    Any suggestions?

Thanks to all those who looked and are as clueless as me.  I have solved this problem but I still do not understand it.
I will pass on what happened and maybe it will help you.
I keep my iTunes purchases on my D drive, not in My Music on the C drive.  I did this to save space on the C.  I have done this for years and it was after an iTunes update that the problems started.  All this time I have been trying to play these files and have been getting the "Windows Has Detected A Problem" or some such.
I have my iTunes purchases backed up on 2 different external drives and yesterday it finally dawned on me that I should try to play one of those.  And Yes!  It worked.  Every one I have tried plays with no problems.
So like I said, I don't understand what happened.

I am trying to store music for two different iPods on the same Windows 8 computer, and when I try and download content from the Cloud I get an error message. Is it possible to have two different Apple IDs on the same computer?

Unfortunately you've discovered too late how important it is to maintain an up-to-date backup of your iTunes library (and all other data of value).  You could, before wiping the drive, have considered making use of a commercial data recovery service that could (albeit at considerable cost) have extracted your library from the hard disk, even if virus infected.
In the absence of that option, you will need to restore the content of your library from its original sources:
Depending on your location, you may be able to re-download any iTunes Store purchases that are still available on the Store
Likewise, most digital purchases from Amazon (including auto-rip copies of purchased CDs) should be available from the Amazon Cloud and via the Amazon Music application - the same may be true of other commercial sources for digital downloads
Content imported from your CDs will have to imported again
The specific situation that you describe regarding the music imported from your friend's external HDD suggests that either the source is badly organized and/or originates from a source other than iTunes (other media players may use alternative tags for information like artist, title, album, etc. that are not wholly consistent with how iTunes handle these).  Without details of the issues you're seeing it is difficult to suggest a remedy other than going through the media album-by-album, track-by-track, and correcting the inconsistencies.
In the absence of a backup or access to the original library data there is no option other than painstakingly recreating your library as described above.  As you do so, you'll now realize how important creating and maintaining backups are - in my case I have at all times three separate duplicates of my library, in two different locations, where none is ever more than a week old compared to the content of my master library.
