Trouble downloading new tv shows to iPod Classic

Am having trouble with my iPod Classic. Recently purchased new tv shows and successfully downloaded them to both my computer and iPad; but will not sync onto my iPod(although) there is more than even storage space available. Help!

Not all iTunes video can be transferred to iPod, If the video resolution or video bit rate beyond iPod limitation, even though they are mp4 video, you can't upload them to iPod. For example, some iTunes purchased movie are High definition movie, the resolution is too high to play on iPod, You can highlight the problem video in iTunes and choose Create iPod or iPhone version from the Advanced drop down menu.  When the conversion process has completed, sync the new version to your iPod. For more info, here is a guide about how to convert and transfer video to iPod classic. Hope it helps. Feel free to email me if you need further help.

  • How to download new firmware/software for iPod classic

This may get complicated..My iPod Classic 120GB has served me well at my restaurant in Mexico as my pimary music source. During my absence, my manager's son (age 12) decided to "get" my music into his computer. I know he has a PC (I have Mac's)..almost sure he doesn't have iTunes. I was told my iPod "didn't work anymore", and I had it sent back to the states. It shows (on the iPod screen) as Connected..it shows up on desktop as "untitled" hardrive. iTunes doesn't recognize it at all. There is no reference to "My iPod" at all. I think he (somehow) removed any/all iPod software, along with my music (which is on my computer), so it appears that I'm left with a nice, empty, 120gb external hard drive. Question is: Can I download software to restore it to it's former iPod glory? Seems like I've tried on Apple Site, but all they want to do is "upgrade" existing iPods. Would really appreciate any suggestions that can help me get back on the bandwagon!!
      Thanks,
         DC

Have you tried a complete reformat of your iPod by using the Disk Utility app on your Mac?  See this article for instructions on reformatting your iPod.

Your i-device was not designed for unique storage of your media. It is not a backup device and media transfer was designed for you maintaining a master copy of your media on a computer which is itself properly backed up against loss. Syncing is one way, computer to device, updating the device content to the content on the computer, not updating or restoring content on a computer. The exception is iTunes Store purchased content.
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1848 - only media purchased from iTunes Store
For transferring other items from an i-device to a computer you will have to use third party commercial software. Examples (check the web for others; this is not an exhaustive listing, nor do I have any idea if they are any good):

You appear to have a second generation iPod touch, not a third, and those can't be updated past 4.2.1. Apple sold 8GB second generation models at the same time as the third generation ones.

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync all music and resync
You can also try deleting all music by:
To delete all music go to Settings>General>Usage>Storage>Music>Tap edit in upper right and then tap the minus sign by All Music
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.

  • New playlists freezing on iPod classic. Old playlists are fine.

I recently invested a lot of time putting together two new playlist for the iPod classic that I use for muzak in my shop.  The music on these playlists is pretty much new to the iPod.  It is mostly from records that I have copied to .mp3.  My iPod is an older 30gb model with fully updated software.  The playlists that I've put together in the past seem to work fine with only an occasional freeze (maybe once a month).  When the iPod freezes I do a reset and all seems fine.  These are long playlists with 24hrs of music minimum and they play for at least 8 hours every day.  The problem is that the new playlists seem to freeze up every ten minutes or so.  I've since given up using them until I figure out what's wrong.  I've made two regular playlists and two smart playlists based on them.  Both types freeze up constantly.
Again, the older playlists seem to work just fine.  By "older" I mean, I put them together a couple of years ago and have been adding music since, with no added problems.  Only the playlists that I've created in the last couple of weeks seem to be having this problem.  There is nothing different about the way I've gone about putting the lists together.  The file formats and bit rates are all the same.  The songs that freeze the new playlists work fine in the old playlists and they play just fine on their own and in iTunes.  For example, just this morning, five songs into starting the "Lounge" playlist the **** thing froze.  The song was something by Bobby Darin.  I reset the iPod and scrolled to that particular song . . . it played just fine.  So, why are my new playlists causing this problem?
I'm hoping someone might have the answer.  I realize that the iPod is quite old and it does get a lot of use so perhaps it's time for a new one . . . but I'd like to keep using it if possible.
If any further information is needed I'd be happy to give it.

Click on the triangle next to the App Store on the menu bar in the iTunes Store. Third item down is iPod Games. That's were you'll find games that will work on your iPod. Nothing in the category list will work on the Classic. iPhone and Touch only.
    Best of luck.

  • I cant download new music to my ipod.  I am now using a new computer with Windows 8.

I cant download new music to my ipod.  I am now using a new computer with Windows 8.  Itunes is now on the new computer.  New songs apear there and will play on the computer.

I plugged my ipod into the computer, it "interacted" briefly, but when finished, the new songs were not on the ipod.  (It is an older ipod I have had for years).  I just read on a different post how to access the latest itunes program update.  I did that, then plugged the ipod into the computer again.  The ipod is now real busy interacting with the computer a lot longer.  Maybe that fixed it.  I will let you know after it is finished.  Thanks for the help!

  • Download tv shows to ipod classic

I can't download a TV show onto my ipod classic, any ideas?

    Hello TeresaEH,
If the show is in HD, you'll need to download the SD version of the show before it can be synced to your iPod Classic.

  • Having trouble moving show to Ipod Classic

For some reason, I'm having trouble moving a purchased TV Show (Dr. Horrible's Sing Along Blog) to my Ipod. Everything else has transferred fine, but this just stays in Itunes and wont go anywhere. There's more than plenty of room available, so I'm not sure what the deal is. Any suggestions?

Hey, I had the same problem too, so I changed to option to sync all episodes instead. All 3 episodes are up, but they can't play on my iPod (iPod classic 5th gen 30gb). When I click on an episode to play it goes into the movie screen like any other movie but the screen just remains black for more than a few minutes. Anything I do to get it going just brings me back to the list of episode pages.
I've tried removing the show and re-syncing my iPod but to no avail. Can anyone help?!! I really want to watch Dr. Horrible!

  • Can't Add TV Shows to iPod Classic

Recently, I downloaded from the iTunes store a couple TV shows. One was a King & Maxwell episode titled “Wild Card” that I missed a few weeks ago on TNT. The other was the pilot episode of Sleepy Hallow that aired on FOX this past monday.
While attempting to put those two shows on my iPod Classic, I got an error message that said “Wild Card was not copied to the iPod, Dad’s iPod, because it cannot be played on this iPod.” Same with the Sleepy Hallow Pilot.
Why is this. In the past I put shows on my iPod with no problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Does any error message pop up?
I've been there before, but the TV Shows didn't sync because of the resolution of the file (iPod supports 640 by 480 pixels).
There's a built-in converter in iTunes. Highlight the items you want to sync go to the Advanced tab and choose "Create iPod or iPhone version". This will create files that should work with your iPod...
If you try this, please report your results... some people (including me) are having problems with the process.
    I hope it helps.

  • ITunes won't let me copy a TV show to iPod Classic

    Hi,
I can't copy a TV show to my iPod using either the sync or manual method. Some other TV shows work fine, but not the file I want to copy! When I try to drag the file from my TV show library onto the TV Shows folder on the iPod, the file just "snaps" back and won't actually copy.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    GLenn

FIgured it out: the file was in HD format and the iPod Classic cannot play HD files. Downloading the SD version now...

  • HT1351 Have downloaded one playlist in my ipod classic, works fine, now downloaded another, can't figure out how to access it??into playlist from there goes to On-the-Go. How do I access Playlist 2????

Just got this Ipod classic,  little greek to me,      Have downloaded one playlist,   works fine,   now  tried to download a second , which  I believe it did, out of my Itunes library,  but how is it listed in my Ipod    , scoll down to playlist, then what?    seems to always go to On-the-Go then what ???    Thanks   Dan

When you go into the Playlists menu of your iPod Classic, you should see a list of the Playlists you have downloaded from your iTunes Library - and the On-The-Go Playlist. If you can only see the On-The-Go Playlist, that suggests that you have not successfully downloaded any Playlists.
Playlists are separate from the songs. The songs, albums etc. etc. will be listed under those menu headings on the Main Menu.
The On-The-Go Playlist is a feature that allows you to create Playlists on the iPod. Initially, and after each Sync with iTunes, the On-The-Go should be empty. If you create one, you can save it on the iPod and it will be transferred back to the iPod at Sync time and renamed as On-The-Go X (X is the next available number). If you create and save one on your iPod, it will be named on the iPod as New Playlist X, but renamed as On-The-Go X when Synced with iTunes.

  • ITunes Won't Sync T.V. Show to iPod Classic

All of my videos have been converted to a specifically Classic 5th-Gen compatible MP4 format, and I've had no problem at all with all of the HUNDREDS of others in my iTunes library. But for some reason, one particular show just simply will not sync to my iPod, and I'm at a loss as to why.
Once again: None of my videos were bought from the iTunes store, and the dimensions, container, decryption, and absolutely all details about the video formatting is identical to the many, many other videos which have worked flawlessly as they were all created in exactly the same way, so file parameters should not be the culprit here.
I have my library set to sync only checked videos (due to space limitations) and have checked and double checked and triple-checked that this particular TV show is indeed checked when the iPod is synced. I've tried deleting all of the videos from the iPod and then syncing JUST this show, to no avail; I've also tried deleting and resyncing ALL the shows. No matter what I seem to do, iTunes simply will not sync this show. I don't get an "iPod will not play this file" error message or any kind of error message at all, and the videos play perfectly fine in iTunes. When I sync, the episodes just don't sync--they don't appear in the iTunes header saying "Syncing video 1 of 13" or whatever the numbers may be, and the sync says it finishes immediately. I'm really at a loss here.
The iPod is (I'm pretty sure) a 5th Gen iPod Classic, and the show is the first season of Metalocalypse. Does anyone have any ideas what the problem might be?

I FOUND A SOLUTION. at least, I was having the same problem as yall, and I found a solution that worked for me, I hope it helps yall too.
My issue was that music would sync to my devices, but some of the playlists would not have all of the songs in them that they should have had. I looked at the playlists, that I was having issues with, and they were all complex smart playlists. Meaning they had multiple levels of conditions in the smart playlist settings, and itunes 10 does not seem to suppor that. To fix it, I went through all of those smart playlists and made new smart playlists that had the same (or as similar as I could get them) conditions to my old playlists. I then re-synced my devices and all my songs appeared in my playlists.
I dont know why, but itunes 10 no longer supports some of the smart playlist rules that older versions of itunes did, so hopefully updating your smart playlists will fix this problem.
    Best of luck guys.
P.S. if you dont know what I mean by 'complex' smart playlist, here is an example of what I mean:

  • ITunes no longer shows my iPod classic.  do I show it in iTunes and manage it?

I have just upgraded to Yosemite and the latest iTunes. But my iPod Classic is no longer visible in iTunes

Thank you. When I asked the question the icon was not there. I tried again a few hours later, before seeing your response, and it was. I have no time to  experiment this morning. So maybe it was just a glitch of some sort first time. I am reassured that the new OS and iTunes is still compatible with iPod classic and should recognise it, but worried that sometimes it won't.
