Trouble downloading updates to iOS4

Hi, I have been trying for a few months now to download & update the latest software to my iPhone 4 but everytime it gets right to the very end, an error message (err = -3259) appears saying that my network connection timed out and to check network settings????
How could this be possible and how can I fix the problem?
If anybody has experienced the same problems or knows how to overcome them, your assistance would be GREATLY appreciated.
Thank you

Hi,
I am facing exactly the same issue. My new iPhone OS version is 4.1(8B117). Three times the update got to 1 sec remaining and network error crops up.
I've tried removing iTunes and reinstalling it without any success. Now I am not even able to connect to the update server.iTunes tells me that I am not connected to the internet. Funnily I am able to browse the app store and download apps. Disabled antivirus/firewall and tried to reach the update server without luck.
Ran diagnostics which tell me that
-Network interface verified
-Internet connection failed(followed DNS flushing as suggested by help)
-Secure link to iTunes stores verified
I am able to browse to the internet using my browser.
Can anyone suggest what might be the issue which is preventing me from updating my iPhone?
Thanks
Anandh

  • Trouble downloading updates through CC for CS6 - Error 207

I have recently installed a legit volume-licensed copy of Adobe Master Collection CS6 on 10 laptops for my school. After some troubles updating the CS6 applications on these laptops, I downloaded and installed Application Manager 8.0 onto these laptops and then upgraded to the Creative Cloud desktop software and updated the software through that on 8 of these laptops and it worked fine.
But I have 2 laptops which I cannot update at all:
Laptop 1 - I have Adobe Application Manager 8.0 installed and upon opening it up to try and update it to the Creative Cloud software, it simply says it cannot update to the Adobe servers to update.
Laptop 2 - Does not have Application Manager 8.0 installed so I am trying to directly install the CC software onto it from a local setup file, but every time to try to run the setup file it hangs on 'Initializing setup' and then gives Error 207 - cannot connect to Adobe servers.
I've done some research about the problem and tried the following:
    - Disabled anti-virus software
    - Run as admin / use admin user account
    - Tried different internet connections in different locations (school and home - both wired and wireless)
    But neither will update.
It's odd that the other 8 are fine but these 2 are giving me problems.
Any help appreciated - if you need any more information please let me know!

Update: Just uninstalled / reinstalled CS6 on the laptop which I cannot even install Creative Cloud on and I am getting the same error again. Think I must just give up with this machine now unless anybody has any suggestions.
Here is a screenshot of what I am getting from the laptop which cannot connect to Creative Cloud to install:
The other machine I have which had troubles updating Application Manager 8.0 appears to be working now and the updates for CS6 are being installed through Creative Cloud as I type this. This machine wasn't working at school on Wi-Fi but it is at home on Ethernet so it seems happier at home.

  • Trouble Downloading Updater receive error message OVER and over again

Hello! I have that little folder picture on my ipod and when I went to the support site, it said that I needed to download the updater. I signed in and clicked download. The next thing that happens is that I get this message:
Our apologies but there was an error with your session (perhaps you were away from your computer for a while). Click here to return to the download page. It happens over and over again and won't let me download the updater. I have a Compaq Presario V2000 laptop with Windows Xp. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! I hope this is the right forum to ask this
    PC   Windows XP

Is your iPod connected while you're trying to download this file? If so, I'd try a different approach. Turn off your computer to get rid of all temporary files. Then, when you reboot, download the updater file to your desktop. (When the file starts to download, tell it to Save to your Desktop--it shouldn't "Run"--it should "Save" and then you can click on the down arrow and choose desktop.) After the download completes, then hook up your iPod and try to update it again. Is it successful now?
If you can update your iPod, save the update file to your computer, incase you have to go back to this version at some future point. Right click on the desktop icon and send the file to your preferred storage disk.

  • Having trouble downloading updates.

I try downloading my updates for my iphone, but it says it will take 7 hours. Then my computer won't stay awake and I lose all my progress. Is there a way to save whatI already downloaded?

There is a free app on the Apple website called Caffefine that will solve your problem

  • Trouble downloading updates

I just bought a MacBook Pro and I'm just trying to the first step of downloading all the updates. For some reason, it goes through the downloading process and at the very end it says, download cannot be completed because a file was corrupted. but it doesn't indicate what file was corrupted. I've tried all different combinations of the 14 updates. Can anyone provide insight?

Repair permissions and restart your computer.  Download 2-3 updates at a time.  Repair permissions and restart your computer after the installation.

I find it hard to believe that a brand new MBP has 14 updates!

  • Trouble downloading update

Firefox will not update to the new OS X update
can't get it to open and keeps asking which file to open
    wants to open firefox.app

If you have problems with updating or with the permissions then easiest is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.
Download a new copy of the Firefox program and save the DMG file to the desktop

    * Install the new version that you have downloaded

  • Does anybody know why we are having trouble downloading/updating any apps since the 7 upgrade?

Is anybody having a problem downloading and/or updating any apps since the 7 upgrade?

No issues whatsover.  And with automatic updates, I don't even have to think about updating apps.  When you open the App Store and click on updates, what do you see?  If you see a list of apps with an Open button on the right, your apps are updated.  The new OS provides a list of the apps that updated.  If you see an Update button next to the apps, they aren't updated.
Have you turned on Automatic Updates in Settings?

  • Trouble downloading updated app without paying double

I installed the Snow Leopard 10.6.8 update, which broke an app I've been using for years, VectorDesigner. When I contacted Tweakersoft, they sent me a new code to upgrade to VectorDesigner 1.7.3 from the App Store. However, there is no way in the App Store to download the software without paying for it. Since I already paid for the app years ago and Apple's update broke the software, TweakerSoft provided good support and gave me the upgrade.
How do I download this version of the software so that I can get back to work? TweakerSoft said I can have it for free, but Apple isn't letting me (even though you guys are the ones who broke it in the first place.)
    Thanks.

Thank you. That should be explained more clearly in the help system since it seems to be an unanswered question I find when doing a search online.
For usability, it may also be very helpful if a Redeem link or button were on an app's page itself. I was looking for such a button there and wouldn't have expected it on the main page.

  • Three days to download updates; iPhoto, IMovie, Evernote

Hi, I bought a MacBook air approx 3 months ago (a mid-2011model recently and within a month/6weeks the new one & Pro were out - not happy). OS is Lion. I have had trouble downloading updates since I got it. I tried, tried and tried again. Constantly losing Gbs of data to no avail. I tried wireless and Ethernet cable neither were any faster. My PCs seem to be updating just fine. I Finally had to leave the Mac running for three days to complete these three updates. This was a computer I was excited about getting. Fast, secure and extremely portable. I am severely disappointed. I've also found my iPad and iPhone running slowly as well (but not the PCs) when trying to download updates and apps. Actually it's mostly updates. Omn myipad, selecting to download all updates (5 at the most, can take all day and illhave run out of battery power by the end (this is an iPad 2 just under a year old).
I'm really regretting the switch. The Air was a step towards moving to Apple only computers. The downloading is appalling. Somebody could have told me to wait a month for wears & MacBook Pros. I got the top of the Range mac Air but only top for a month. I would have probably gone with a new mac book pro if I'd have known what was going on. The mac Air is useful as an expensive iPad back up system.
I'm sorry if any of this sounds aggressive in any way - its nit meant to. I do have to applaud your customer service employee Ryan at Charlestown NSW for trying to help me with the iPad. It's no longer crashing or freezing just downloading extra extra extra slow!!
Please can you help me. I haven't used a mac since about 1992/1993. So a newbie again! Please help!
    Cheers,
    Mink

Venting frustration aside, if all your Apple devices are experiencing slow wireless/internet, have you tried it with only one on the network with no other devices attached/active on the network? Have you tried a different channel on the router (if it's assigned a channel to use). Are you using 802.11n 5Ghz networking or the slower 802.11g 2.4 Ghz network? Some wireless routers have the capability to run in both modes (simultaneous dual-band), and all your newer Apple devices can run at the faster 802.11n 5Ghz speeds.
Since you're experiencing slow internet performance on all your Apple devices, one common element is the wireless service, which is why I'm poking there.

  • Problems downloading updates

I am having trouble downloading updates. Every time I try, it will download the update and right at the very end it says that the network connection times out. Any thoughts on how to fix this? I'm stuck on version 4.2.1

Try disabling your computer's security software during the download and update.

  • Internet timeout when downloading updates

For several months, I've had occasional trouble downloading updates for my Tiger 10.4 system. I would sometimes have the download stop in mid-process, giving the message of "A networking error has occurred: timed out (-1001). Make sure you can connect to the internet."
After my system crashed recently, causing me to re-install 10.4 from the disk, I have not been able to download ANY updates, regardless of size. The downloading process will go anywhere from a few minutes to 20 minutes and then give me a timeout error. All the while, I can use email and surf the internet with no problems, so my connection is obviously good. Apple told me it was an ISP problem. I then called Qwest DSL; after checking my connection remotely, they concluded that it was a computer problem. What gives?

    Hi Trailcat,
Giving us a detailed description of your network setup would help to understand and isolate your networking issue...
How does your MacMini connect to the Net? via modem/router (make/model)?
How big is your network? just the macmini + modem/router?
Do you run any firewall other than MacOS X's built-in?

If the only problem is downloading via Apple's Software Update, then you might be experiencing issues with specific servers (just like some other users):

Taken at face value, you're having trouble with an Apple Application Support program file there. (Apple Application Support is where single copies of program files used by multiple different Apple programs are kept.)
Let's try something relatively simple first. Restart the PC. If you're using Vista or 7, now head into your Uninstall a program control panel, select "Apple Application Support" and then click "Repair". If you're using XP, head into your Add or Remove Programs control panel, select "Apple Application Support", click "Change" and then click "Repair".
If no joy after that, try the more rigorous uninstall/reinstall procedure from the following post. (If you've got XP, although the procedure is for Vista and 7, just read "Computer" as "My Computer", read "Uninstall a program control panel" as "Add or Remove programs control panel" and assume the system is 32-bit, and you'll be doing the right things.)
