Trouble exporting HD file to Quicktime in FCP7

Hello,
I am trying to export an HD file from the timeline to Quicktime Conversion.  I keep getting an out of memory or general error.  I was told that my graphics card was not compatible (ATI Radeon HD 5770 with FCP7.  I need to know if this is true before I purchase a new card.  I can provide more info if needed.
Thank you.

You often see this error if you've got graphic files that are not rgb (such as cmyk),or if your graphic files are larger than 4000 x 4000 pixels or if you're using source files that are not in a fcp friendly format like h264.  If your sequence contains any such files, convert them and replace.
You might also tell us the format of your source clips and your sequence settings, in particular, compressor (or codec), pixel dimensions and frame rates.
I also strongly recommend that you use file:  export:  quicktime Movie (not quicktime conversion) with current settings and use compressor to convert the file to the desired format.

  • I am having trouble exporting .raw files to an external storage device.  Even though I export "original" they end up as jpeg files.  Any idea what I am doing wrong?

I am having trouble exporting .raw files from my Mac Book Air to an external storage device.  Even though I am exporting as "original" they are being exported as jpegs.  Anyone have an idea what I am doing wrong?

Using the "original" setting is the correct way to do it.  Select on of the photos and use the File ➙ Reveal in Finder ➙ Original menu option.  That will take you to the file inside the library via the Finder.  Confirm that what you see if the raw file.
If it is then try the following:  make a temporary, backup copy (if you don't already have a backup copy) of the library and try the following:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
         User/Home()/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
         User/Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.
3 - launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding down the Option key when launching iPhoto.  You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.

  • Exporting Large File to QuickTim

My file is almost 18GB when exporting to QuickTime. What is the best way to compress to a smaller size with out affecting the picture quality too much??
I need the project on one dvd.
    Thanks!

Don't worry about the file size. Export to a normal Quicktime Movie, and import it into iDVD. iDVD will handle the compression so it fits on a normal DVD. Exporting to Quicktime will guarantee maximum quality, and iDVD will make sure it fits on your disk. The only reason it would be a problem is if the movie is longer than 2 hours.
If you want the file size to be smaller, uncheck the +Make Movie Self-Contained+ box in the +Export to Quicktime+ window.

  • Having Trouble Exporting .mov files

Hi, I've been trying to export a lossless quality .mov file of a presentation I shot a couple weeks ago. It's about 3.5 hours long and is being an absolute pain. It takes over 8 hours for it to export the quicktime animation file, and then it ends up being around 250gb which is way way wayy to big! The files I put into the timeline only add up to 21 gb, why is it doing this? Even when I used an h.264 codec, the file is still around 100gb and it took 12 hours to encode!! Can somebody please help me with this? I need to get this footage to the company I shot for. Thanks!
    Export settings
    Quicktime Animation
    Quality 100, 1280x720, 29.97 fps, progressive

    > and then it ends up being around 250gb which is way way wayy to big! The
files I put into the timeline only add up to 21 gb, why is it doing
    this?
Losslessly compressed files are huge. That is an unavoidable fact. 250GB is an unsurprsing size for a 3-hour movie that is losslessly compressed. The fact that your input files were 21GB has nothing to do with it. Those files were heavily compressed.
What is your client asking from you? It seems unlikely that they're asking for losslessly compressed file for delivery. Are they asking for something for playback? What are their delivery specifications?

  • Having trouble exporting mpeg2 files from FCP 3 - please help me!

I haven't made a DVD for a little while, in the meantime have upgraded my operating system from 10.3 to 10.4 and am completely up to date with QT etc. I have Final Cut Pro 3, DVD Studio Pro 1.5 and Quicktime 7.3. The problem now is that when I try to export my edited video as mpeg2 from FCP, FCP immediately quits- I just can't figure it out... it leaves a file icon in the destination folder but apparently the error in the crash report means that I'm trying to write to a read only destination!?

Can you use DVDSP to do the encoding for you?
FCP3 was really not intended to be run from Tiger, in fact, I believe it will not install on a clean 10.4 disk.

  • Trouble exporting video files HELP!

I have a few Flash animation projects that I want to put on
my demo reel, but I can't get the animations in a usable format.
The bulk of the animation is a walk cycle in a movie clip. Of
course, when I hit play in flash, I see frame one of the movie clip
standing there for 16 frames, then it skips forward and stands over
there for 16 frames, then it skips forward, but the whole animation
plays smoothly when I export the .swf file.
However, whenever I try to export a video file all I get is
this useless frame one skip that you see when you hit play in
Flash. Anyone know how I can fix this? Are there video editing
programs that will take .swf files?
So far I've tried exporting into .avi and .gif.
Whenever I try exporting to .mov, I get this message.
"The installed version of Quicktime does not have a handler
for this type of flash movie. Please consult the documentation for
    further information."

There are a couple of things you can try. None great but most
will do. First, make sure you have the latest version of Quicktime
installed. If you can afford it buy the Pro version. Its pretty
cheap and you won't regret it. It makes converting all sorts of
    files simple.
Second. I'm not sure what version of Flash you are using. The
older versions of Flash were pretty crappy at exporting video.
Flash CS3 Professional is little better but its something. Anyway,
if you don't have this download the 30day demo and give exporting
.mov from Flash CS3 a shot (after you install the latest version of
    Quicktime)
Another thing you can try do is use a screen capture software
such as SnagIt or CaptureWiz. They will allow you to capture your
Flash movie as video and both have demos you can try before you
    buy.
And one other thing I have done to capture my Flash files,
which works great, is to capture my screen to video. If you have
the capability to export your monitor to video or better yet a
firewire videocam and then someway to edit it your Flash to video
life will be easy as pie.
    Good luck

  • Exporting Muxed Files in Quicktime Pro 7 w/ MPEG-2 Component

I have .mpg files I need to be able to get into iDVD. They are MPG-2 muxed files. I have quicktime pro and the mpeg-2 component. I can't for the life of me figure out how to do this. Everyway I try either fails halfway through or I get no audio. I've trying to convert them to Mpeg-4. The answer is probably easy but I am new to Mac. any help would be great.
    thanks

As you have discovered, QT does not support the export of sound from muxed mpeg files. Fortunately, this freeware will export to several formats. It also allows you to do some editing of mpegs without re-encoding if that is desired: Mpeg StreamClip

  • Compressor exporting bad files from quicktime to MPEG2

After working perfectly for months, compressor2 started to export bad filmes while converting quicktime to mpeg 2. The exported file appears as a blank white paper icon. When importing this into DVD Pro 3, the program won't acccept it. any ideas? BTW, i am running os 10.3.9 on a powerbook g4. thank you.

    Hello milktray,
Must ask these questions before we can help.
    1. What version of QuickTime Pro do you have?
    2. By "export to USB, I think you mean, "export to flash drive" - correct?
Next is FYI: QuickTime Pro does not output into the AVI file format (which format is really a "universal wrapper" produced by many video camera. QuickTime Pro "should" be used to export to such formats as .m4v. And - for what you're planning to do, it should be in the "bulkiest" version called "desktop-m4v." When we get you to the point where you've exported the AVI video to "(name of file)desktop-m4v" then we'll see if your TV can recognize it.
So after you've answered the questions above, I'll get you through the simple (and rather fast) steps to produce your m4v video.
One more thing: once you've created an m4v video, when you open that file (either with Command + O or by double clicking): it will automatically open in iTunes (and will be included in the iTunes "Movies" folder.

  • Please help. export .wmv file via QuickTime Conversion

Use FCP HD 4.5 QuickTime Conversion to export a short movie which is about 2 mintues long. I only can get exported files in 30 seconds no matter I selected default format QuickTime Moive or Windows Media. Any thing I missed?
I cleaned all markers on TimeLine, but still same
(I am using Power Mac G5 with OS X 10.4.5).
    thanks

It means your material is outside of 'safe' levels...luminance, chrominance or both.
    Quick fix...apply Broadcast safe filter
    Best fix...use Color Corrector 3-way.
You should also post a new thread with a new topic.

  • I am having trouble exporting my file as a pdf.

I have a document which I am creating in indesign, about 100 pages long, with images, etc. Each time I try to export it as a pdf it crashes, and then when I try opening the pdf the error message comes up saying that Adobe reader could not open this file as it is not supported file type or has been damaged.
This file is on my computer and has not been sent as an email.
I use the Indesign cs6 and I am on a mac computer.
The only thing I can think of is that I tried to save this file on a blank cd a few days ago. Maybe that is what caused this?
I have tried everything I can think of, spoke to Adobe support, although still waiting for a call back from them.......
Does anyone have any sound advice as I have a print deadline looming?!

Well the PDF hadn't finished creating because InDesign had crashed - therefore the PDF that was created was incomplete.
As with any file that constantly crashes - make a backup of it before you continue.
First thing to try is to remove Minor Corruption http://forums.adobe.com/thread/526991
    If that doesn't work:
To troubleshoot a file you should Export half the pages to PDF and then the other half.
When one half fails you know which part of the book it is in.
You can the do the same again - said it failed on export to 50-100 pages then export 50 - 75 pages - if that doesn't crash then try 76-100 pages.
    Divide and conquer.
Once you know what page is causing the problem - you can try various things to get it to work - like
resaving tiffs as psd and place the psd instead (or vice versa)
Resave jpegs/png/gifs etc.  to TIFFS or PSD and replace them
It might not be an image problem - it could be the Text Frame is corrputed and you may need to repace that text frame with a new one.
It can be tricky to find out what's causing it.

  • Cannot open MXF XAVC files in quicktime or FCP7

I am working with a new Sony FS7 video camera  that records in XAVC codec as mxf  files - Same as the F5 or F55. I have installed the new ProApps update that is supposed to  make it easy to use XAVC in Final Cut 7 which I still use and have also updated  Quicktime 7 . However neither Quicktime 7 nor Final Cut 7 will open the mxf files.  I have spent time on  the FS7 discussion boards and no one can figure out why. Others are also having the same problem though.
I am on  a Macbook Pro 9,1 intel Core i7, 2.7Gz  with an Nvidia GT650 graphics card and plenty of Ram  and power and am running OS 10.9.5
I tried the same thing on my wife's computer which is around the same age as mine and the files opened up immediately in QT 7 and FCP 7. I assume there is some kind of conflict going on but have no idea what it is. Because I do a lot of editing over the years a lot of things have been installed in my computer that are not in my wife's thus my suspicion of a conflict.

I was also recommended to download and install the XAVC Plug-in for Apple (PDZK-LT2) provided by Sony, which provides support for XAVC files shot on Sony SxS card, allowing viewing and editing capability in Final Cut Pro X. But: This plug-in requires Final Cut Pro X 10.0.8 or higher for XAVC format.    Finally, I choose to encode XAVC to Prores codec, which has been designed to work especially well as high-quality, high performance editing codecs for Final Cut Pro(no matter FCP X or FCP 6/7). Hope the information can be helpful to you.

  • Trouble exporting video file as an MPEG4 format

    Hi all,
As per the title, when I'm coming to export a video file I'm choosing the MPEG4 format however it's saving them as 3GPP files. Is this right? Am I doing something grossly stupid?
Any help gratefully appreciated. The files will will eventually go up on YouTube.
    Thanks
    Ashley

Under H.264 you will find several YouTube presets.

  • Im having trouble exporting a file from cs3 to illustrator 6 (an earlier version). Please help.

I have an EPS file that was created with CS3 on a macbook leopard operating system and was saved according to the ( Adobe) instructions to the CD in illustrator 3.
Later I tried to open the CD on a Performa 6200 CD using a macOS 8.1 with Illustrator 6.0. When I opened the CD there was a closed lock on the top left corner of the window, the EPS file icon appeared as a gray paper not looking like your typical illustrator file. I then proceeded to click on the EPS file and a window appeared with this message: "The document "---" could not be opened, because the application program that created could not be found.  Could not find a translation extension with appropriate translator".
If there is anyway that you can help out please respond, I am really desperate.
    Thank you,

It sounds like your older performa might not know to open that EPS with illustrator. Try going into Illustrator and using File>Open. If that still does not work it may be that CS3 did not save down a version that will work with Illy 6. Options for saving a legacy EPS from CS3 are Illy ver 3, 8, 9, 10; so you would need to save down to 3.

  • I have exported a file from premiere cs3 using quicktime animation codec, when i burn it the audio is not there..help!?

    hello.
am having a proble with adobe premiere cs3
i have exported the file as quicktime using the animation codec, with 100per cent quality as it needs to be the highest quality
when i play the file with media player the sound is there, but when i burn it onto a dvd the audio is not there anymore... i really dont understand what i am doing wrong! can anyone help please?
i am using quicktine as im told this the best for optimum lossless quality
if i cannot burn it with audio using the quikctime animation codec, then i might try exporting it as an avi file. if so, what is the best codec to use for lossless quality?
    thankyou!!!!

And when you follow Jim's suggestions, Export as elemental streams, i.e. one Video-only file and one Audio-only file. Encore will like that better.
    Good luck,
