Trouble exporting photos with correct size

I took some pictures of a friends daughter for her senior pictures and the school has very specific size requirements for photos submitted.  They state they have to be 2.5" high and 2.0" Wide and 300 resolution.
I set these dimensions in the export box under image sizing but when I go back to check the size after export it isn't correct.  The width came over correct but the height comes over at 1.976".  I've tried checking and unchecking the box "don't enlarge" and I get the same result.
I did crop the original photo.

Without seeing the photo, there's no way for us to tell. It may be you need to take another head shot with more "space" around it so the crop will work. Wedding photographers do this all the time, their initial photo has lots of unneeded "space" around the subject so that they can crop at various different aspect ratios.

  • I am having trouble exporting photos with a watermark in lightroom 5 with windows 8

I click export, then edit watermarks, make my adjustments, click create, then export...photo gets exported without the watermark....what am I doing wrong?

Just a couple of observations that may not be of any help to you. After you click on the export button, you won't see any activity on the Lightroom interface unless you are exploring several images in which case you will see a progress bar in the upper left-hand corner of the screen. I noticed on your export settings that you have checked the option to add the exported image to the catalog, so it isn't going to automatically show up in Lightroom. You might try right clicking on the folder you are working with and choose to synchronize it and see if that will bring in those newly exported images.

however when I try to sync my older ipod with it and upload some new music to it, Itunes keeps telling me that all the previous songs will be erased
Yes, that's correct. If you don't have the songs that are currently on your iPod also in your new iTunes installation, they will be erased from the iPod if you sync it. Best to start afresh by first transferring all the music on your iPod back to your new computer/iTunes library.
For iTunes version 7 or later, then you can transfer purchased iTunes store music from the iPod to an authorized computer by using the "file/transfer purchases from iPod" menu. Note that the maximum of 5 authorized computers applies here.
Find out how to do that here.
How to copy iTunes purchases from an iPod or iPhone to a computer.
For all other non purchased content (your own CDs etc), check out the instructions/suggestions here.
Music from iPod to computer (using option 2). This a manual method using "hidden folders" and although it works, it is a little more involved than other methods.
Much easier ways are to use one of the many 3rd party programs that copy music from the iPod to the computer.
One of the most recommended is Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music from iPod back to the computer. However, it does not transfer playcounts/ratings etc.
Other free programs are Pod Player, SharePod and Floola.
If you want to recover just the structure of playlists from the iPod (and not the actual song files themselves), there's iRepo for Windows. which I understand has this feature along with all the standard features for these programs.
iPodRip also has the feature enabling you to reconstruct playlists.
There is also CopyTrans. This does preserve ratings/playcounts etc if those are important to you but this program is not free. It also supports video transfer.
Once all the music is safely back in your new iTunes library, you can sync your iPod as normal.

  • Exporting Photos with Summary Information

I want to export photos with summary information such as ISO, F setting, shutter speed, ect. For some reason this information is not exporting now. I recently replaced my hard drive and had to redownload LR3 software. Does anyone know what setting I need to adjust so this infor exports with the photo?
    Thanks, Paul

Thanks Dorin, I was reducing the size of the files in LR3 which was removing
the information. I'm using Microsift Office Picture Manager to reduce the size of the picture before posting on Treknature. Picture Manager keeps the information, even if I reduce the size of the pic.
    Thanks for the help.

  • Export photos with original metadata

I have original photos that states the time taken and all other datas of my camera but once I edited and export from aperture, the new photos do not have the original metadata in it anymore. Is it possible to export photos with the original/master metadata?

How are you viewing the "metadata time"?
The file creation date is not the same as the metadata field "Date".
To view the metadata of an image-format file created by exporting an Image from Aperture, open it in Preview (the app that comes with OS X), run "Tools➞Show Inspector", and click the "Exif" tab.

  • IPhoto incompetant with exporting photos with titiles

Has anyone encountered problems with exporting photos from albums hoping that the chance iphoto will do it with titles will work and only some of them do and or some times it does?

i did do that and it worked fine, something messed up in my user library im sure
First try deleting the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your User/Library/Preferences folder, launch iPhoto and try exporting again.
If that doesn't fix the problem it could be another preference file, not iPhoto's. To check that out do the following:
Trouble Shooting Preferences in Leopard/Snow Leopard
1 - Create a folder titled "Preferences A" on the Desktop.
2 - Open the working Preferences folder, HD/Users/your_name/Library/Preferences, and move the contents to the Preferences A folder on the Desktop.
3 - With the working Preferences folder empty run the application again and determine if the problems is fixed.
NOTE: you may have to drag the contents of the working folder to the trash and empty if moving the contents to the A folder only copies them instead of moving.
4 - If the problem is fixed:
A - open the working Preferences folder (HD/Users/your_name/Library/Preferences).
B - Open the Preferences A folder on the Desktop, select all of the contents and drag them into the working Preferences folder.
C - When the Copy window pops up check the "Apply to All" check box and then click on the Don't Replace button.
5 - If the problem is NOT fixed, empty the working Preferencess folder and move the contents of the Preferences folder on the desktop back into it.

  • Exporting photos with editing changes

Hi, I am new to LightRoom. This question might be stupid, but I am having trouble exporting my photos and maintaining the editing changes that I have made. Here are the specifics: I made changes to many raw photos using LR on my desktop computer (Microsoft XP operating system). I then exported those photos, as raw photos and jpegs, to organize them within my hardrive and further edit at a later date. I recently purchased a MacBook Pro. I then copied those exported photos onto my external hard drive and copied them onto my MB. I then imported the file into LR and the original photos are there without any of the editing I did such as changing WB, sharpening, etc. I am wondering what I did wrong? Did I miss a step, fail to check or uncheck some box, or is this a issue with going between Mac and Windows? Any suggestions?
    Thank you,
    carrie

One follow-up question...again, probably a naive one. Would I be able to tell the editing changes by looking at either the metadata or the developing tools of the jpg files that I edited in raw? Changes such as wb, sharpening, color boosting, etc. I am browsing through my jpgs and they don't appear to contain those editing changes that I speak of. Otherwise, Lee's answer makes sense to me. However, I am not sure if what my eye is perceiving is due to monitor differences. That is why I would like to see exactly if those changes registered.
    Thanks,
    carrie

  • Exporting photos at original size

How do I export photos and keep their original size. I do not have the Image Sizing checked but it seems to be resizing my photos anyway. It seems to have started this evening. I exported files fine at file sizes of ex: 5387 kb the original size. Not they are exporting at ex: 478 kb. Can't figure out what the problem is. I contacted Adobe and Tech Support is not in until Monday. Ugh

There are a number of different variables for saving a JPG, or a TIFF, which alter both the file size and (in the case of JPG) the specific picture quality which will survive the save.
Lightroom's JPG quality setting does not correspond exactly with what the JPG choices available (e.g.) inside the camera, were doing. The chances of exporting an identical filesize are remote, for JPG. And smaller is not necessarily worse in practice, since one has to consider the efficiency as well as the degree of information loss, of the differently packaged picture.
Also, editing changes made in Lightroom can affect the saved file size that you get when you Export.
If the image has been cropped smaller within LR - whether to a changed aspect ratio, for composition / subject reasons, as a byproduct of perspective adjustment etc, merely straighteniong a horizon, or some combination of those - then there is less picture extent being saved  - quite aside from the saving format.
Next, the fine detail present in the image affects the efficiency of compression. A "smooth" image area compresses a lot at a given quality setting (small file), while a "busy" image area compresses less at the same quality setting (big file). So changing contrast, sharpening, blurring with negative Clarity, adding a film-grain effect, vignetting, all kinds of changes to the seen picture may make a difference, because you are in effect... saving different picture content.

  • Exporting photos with text

Is there any way that you can export photos in lightroom 4 with text on them? (i want the same text on all of the photos)

If you have a careful hand you can add text using the adjustment brush. Select the appropriate size you want your lines and move the exposure slider to the left for black text, right for white text. Sync to all the images. Also can be used for adding arrows, etc. Not an elegant solution but mostly workable.

  • Iphoto - when exporting photos with their titles,iPhoto changes the manual sequence that I have given and imposes an alphabetical sequence

    Mac mini
Processor  2.5 GHz Intel Core i5
    Memory  8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Graphics  Intel HD Graphics 4000 768 MB
    Software  OS X 10.8.5 (12F45)
When exporting a group photos with their individual titles, iPhoto changes the manual sequence that I have given and imposes its own sequence (which seems to be alphabetical).  The export dialogue box allows me to use my titles or to impose a numerical sequence.
How can I keep my titles and the sequencing that I had carefully worked out?

What you are missing is that files have no order - you view them using a program and that program creates the order
When viewing in an iPhoto album you can sort manually and iPhoto will display the photos as you sorted them - but when you move to a different program (the finder for example) you have a totally different set of sorts available - for example in the finder the same set of files can be viewed in alpha order, in size order, in date modified order, etc - none of those are inherent in the file but are sorts set under the view menu
So to meet your requirements you must export with file attributes that allow the finder view options to present your desired view - which is what volunteers here have tried to help with - even though it really does not involve IPhoto in any way

  • How to export photos with titles in chronological order. Checking box for title and keyword doesn't seem to work

I want to export a group of JPEG photos including titles in the order in which they were taken.  Checking the box to include titles and key words seems not to work.

    You can not
exporting creates files - files have no order - the order is set by the program you use to view them - for example in the finder you can view files by the date created, date modified, size, alpha, etc
So to control the order when viewing in the finder you must have an attribute that the finder can sort on set - the most common way to export photos in a specific order is to make an album in iphoto in the order you want and then export the album using the sequential naming option of the export command - then view them in the finder using a alpha sort - Exporting From iPhoto
However since you want to retain your existing title that will not work for you

  • HT1257 Exporting photos with titles

Exporting photos for use on Windows through the Finder (not through Share) does not allow the titles I have attachged to the photos to be expored along with them. Does anyone know a way that will allow this?

Use the File ➙ Export ➙ File Export menu option.  In the export window select Use Title in the File Name drop down menu.  That will replace the original file names with the titles you assigned in iPhoto.

  • Trouble exporting photos in 8.1.2

I am now unable to export photos in 8.1.2 to any desktop folder. I just noticed it.
The message I am getting is:
    "unable to create/users/ldvf/desktop/ras"
ras is the desktop folder. I have also tried exporting to other folders as well as the desktop itself....any ideas.
    thanks,
    doug

The ! turns up when iPhoto loses the connection between the thumbnail in the iPhoto Window and the file it represents.
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • Syncing Photos with reduced size

Initially when I sync photos between my computer and iTouch, there is an option of whether to keep the original size of those photos. After I switched to a different folder to sync photos with iTouch, I do not have that option from iTune. can someone help? How I can make that switch?
    Thanks,

This isn't a direct answer, since I'm not running Photoshop Elements on a PC, but what you describe works perfectly with geotagged photos coming from iPhoto on my Mac. Photos taken in Texas and parts of Europe west of Greenwich show up fine; photos taken in Tunisia do also. I wonder if there's something funky about the EXIF information for the photos that don't show up? For whatever it's worth, here's the data from one of my Tunisia photos that DOES show up in Places on my iPad:
    -- GPS IFD -- :
    GPS tag version : 0,0,2,2
North or South Latitude : N
    Latitude : 35°40'55.67"
East or West Longitude : E
    Longitude : 10°6'11.74"
    Altitude reference : Sea level
    Altitude : 60.2m

  • Trouble syncing photos with PSE7 (and the folder issue)

Here's a brief history on what I've done up to now:
I've had Photoshop Elements 7 installed for a while and I installed the PSE8 trial over top of it. I converted the catalog, and everything sync-wise was fine. After it exprired last night, however, I uninstalled it, and tried to revert back to PSE7. I added some photos to the catalog...
And there's where my troubles started. When I went back into iTunes to sync with PSE, it showed all of the albums I have previously made in PSE8, even though I uninstalled it. I managed to track down where the PSE8 copy of the catalog from where it was hiding, and deleted it.
Now, it doesn't even pick up any catalog anymore. Worse, when I sync my photos with PSE, it give me "iPod "" cannot be synced. The required folder cannot be found.". It does NOT give me this message when I sync with custom folders, but I strongly prefer to NOT do it that way and to do so with PSE7 instead.
I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes, restarted computer, nothing helps.
Does anyone know of a fix so that iTunes sees my catalog again? (Yes, I even deleted all instances of "iPod Photo Cache" from my computer too. Didn't help.)

Nevermind, seems I posted this in the wrong place.
