Trouble exporting videos to ipod

i have quicktime pro and when i export a video to itunes and to my ipod it doesnt have audio. i have tried with different formats as mpeg, mov, but nothing change. what can i do ?

QuickTime Pro can't (never did) export audio from muxed track formatted files (MPEG 1 or 2 formats).
MPEG Streamclip 1.5.1 can export (to iPod settings for .mp4 files) or convert your MPEG-1 file to QT formats.
The software is free. Try it.

  • No sound when exporting videos to iPod

It blows! I have bought the new iPod with video. When I export videos to iPod format in quicktime Pro, after eternal times of waiting for small videos, it results that it doesn't export them with audio. Any ideas? Any solution to this problem? How to make it faster? I cant imagine how much it will take if I convert a movie or something... Any other free software for this?
    Thank you very much.

Are you attempting to convert mpeg-1 or mpeg-2 in QT? QT does not export the sound from those formats. QT Mpeg Limitations
If it is mpeg-1 you can use this freeware Windows app to convert to uncompressed avi. QT will read that format and will export both sound and video from it. VirtualDub
Open the mpeg-1 in VDub and then use Save as Avi in the File menu to save the new file.
As far as speed goes, you could try using mpeg-4 instead of H264 compression. H264 does nice work but is just plain slow.

  • Cannot export videos into iPod format?????

I have Quicktime Pro, and recently exported some 15 video or so into iPod format, then imported them into iTunes for storage on my 60 GB iPod 5G. Imagine my surprise to find the error message that some of the videos, including all but three of the ones I exported, cannot be played on my iPod. I even tried using iTunes to re-export the videos in iPod format, to no avail.
What's the deal? I thought the "export to iPod" option in Quicktime Pro 7.1.2 and the "convert selection to iPod" function in iTunes was so that I could vide my videos on this iPod. Why is this no longer working?????

There are some files (such as MPEG-1 and those with muxed audio) that Quicktime has trouble converting. I use iSquint for converting videos for my iPod, and it works great. It's faster than Quicktime, and it's also free!

  • Strange Problem exporting video to iPod MP4...

I purchesed Quicktime 7 Pro last night, because I have been eager to put some video on my brand new 5th g iPod. I decided to start with a 23 minute episode of a T.V. series I have on DVD. I ripped it to my hard drive, then followed Quicktimes exact instructions to export it to iPod MP4. I did this at 9:30 AM this morning, and it is now 4:25. The progress bar says it is only 22% done!
My computer statistics; 2.26 Ghz processor, 512 Mb ram and an 80 gig hard drive only filled with about 30 gigs worth of data. It is virus free and runs like a dream, so why is this export of a 23 minute video taking so impossibly long????? Does exporting naturally take this long? What is the normal exprt time of a 23 minute show?
Thanks for any help or advice you can offer, I will really appreciate it.

I too have had this issue. It takes me 45 minutes to convert a 3 1/2 minute trailer. Videora freeware works infinitely better for me because it stretches video rather than letterbox it and it zips through files when converting them.
    Hope that helped you out.

  • Trouble Uploading Videos To iPod Nano via iTunes

I am having trouble uploading videos to my new iPod Nano (4th Gen? The new Nano-chromatic one). I have the latest iTunes version (iTunes 8), and have followed all the Help topics related to this problem. When I have converted the video (which i have downloaded to my computer from a DVD I have purchased of the TV Series "Black Books") to the iPod friendly format (following the advice from the iTunes Help section) I then try to 'click and drag' the converted movie file into my iPod under the Devices heading, a window pops up saying:
""BLACK_BOOKS Movie 01" was not copied to the iPod because it cannot be played on this iPod."
This confuses me as all the tech specs about the new iPod nanos say that they are able to play videos. And considering as how I have converted the file to one supposedly supported by the iPod I do not understand why it can't be copied to, and then played by my iPod.
I have followed all the Help sections as suggested and the problem is still NOT resolved.
    Can anyone help?

    I had the same problem.
First you need to download handbrake http://handbrake.fr/?article=download
Then run the file through it, and the output file will work with your chromatic.

  • Trouble playing videos, slow iPod

I have filled my iPod with lots of audio and video podcasts, and music from CDs, and some data, with only 500 MB free memory.
iPod is very slow to respond to the click wheel or other buttons. Sometimes a song does starts to play only in 5 seconds or more, not immediately. This did not happen when the iPod was new (i.e. emptier). This is annoying.
I have more trouble with video. Some videos do not start playing at all, or start only sometimes. Sometimes some video podcasts of the same podcast subscription play, and some do not. I assume all are in the same format.
I have formatted the iPod for Windows to use it sometimes as hard drive on a PC and charging, but iTunes is running on a Mac. I have not reset my iPod for some time.
My guess is that the iPod cannot handle a full hard drive and a big podcast and music library. But it's just a guess.
    Any suggestions?
    - Mikko

    I have the same problem. . . i think.
When i click on the name of the movie on my ipod video, 30 gbs, only the line of how long the movie has played, and a tiny picture of the movie will show up. The same with music videos and that stuff.
    But the sound works perfectly.
    Thank you!

  • Exporting video for ipod is making huge files.

I am new to Final Cut Express. I have been playing with exporting videos, specifically for ipod. However, the size is coming out huge. Instead of getting an 8mb file as I am used to in imovie, it is coming out 3 times as big about 24 mb.
I am using the same format, it has to be somewhere in settings. However, QT is not allowing me to adjust the size.
I am wanting to put these files on my .mac site using iweb, so any advice would be appreciated.

  • Exporting video for iPod - audio OK but video is "white"

I know this issue has been raised before but I cannot find a clear resolution anywhere - happy to be pointed to the right place.
Some time ago I converted some old VHS home movies to DVD and they play fine. To view them via AppleTV I've converted them to MP4 using H.264/AAC via MEGUI, and they work fine in iTunes on the PC and on AppleTV.
Once they were in iTunes I tried converting them for iPod but the output is a blank white video screen though the audio is fine.
To diagnose the problem I tried loading the MP4 version directly into Quicktime (Version 7.6.8)where the play fine. Then I tried exporting them for iPod and I get the same white screen plus audio.
I've seen this issue dismissed as due to some form of DRM but I doubt that is the case here. The video is my own, the DVDs I created are not CSS protected and the MP4s are also unprotected.
I've also seen it attributed to a missing codec, but that is unlikely given both iTunes and Quicktime play the videos without a hitch.
Any clues on how to proceed?
    John

Last post before I leave things alone for a while.
I've uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes and Quicktime and iTunes no longer chews up lots of CPU when trying to convert one particular Quicktime created file.
I've also recreated each file again from the same source, the AVI encoded as DV-PAL with screen res of 720x576. I created a series of test cases to try to pin the problem down and I think the best exposition is the following -
    The problem
An MPEG4 file exported from Quicktime loads and plays in iTunes, plays on AppleTV and can be converted for iPod.
An almost identical MPEG4 file created by MEGUI using the x264 encoder, latest build 1649, and all the same settings as Quicktime loads and plays in iTunes, plays on AppleTV but when converted for iPod produces a file with audio but the video is "white". Looking at the file size, less than 2mb, it is pretty obvious that the video stream is simply not there.
    Clues
Quicktime Movie Inspector reports the screen resolution of the file it exported as 720x540 while for the MEGUI created file it reports a very odd 787x576. Note that Windows Media Player and YAMB (MP4Box utility) both report this same file as 720x576 which is what I would expect as MEGUI did not resize the video. As an aside, WMP and YAMB also report the Quicktime created file as 720x540 so they agree with Quicktime on that score at least.
    Obvious Question
Why does Quicktime report an incorrect screen resolution, and is this contributing to the conversion problem in iTunes?
My understanding is that MPEG4 uses 16x16 macroblocks and so the dimensions of anything to be encoded must be in multiples of 16 and 787 is not a multiple of 16.
Of course, the 787x576 screen resolution could be a red herring.
Details from Quicktime Movie Inspector follow:
    File that converts successfully
Source: scene0005c created QT as MPEG4.mp4

  • Final Cut Pro X export troubles: exports video with only half the audio.

Ever since I updated Final Cut Pro X, I've been having problems exporting. I either get error messages or the audio doesn't fully export. When I tried exporting a master file to my desktop, I got a message saying “error occurred when creating frame” then lists the frame number. Someone suggested copying the project file and pasting it into a new project. I did that, and it exported without the error popping up; but halfway through the video, the audio disappears, and does so in the same spot it disappeared in a previous youtube export before I tried the copy/paste method. I don't have the original footage; I'm making color correction changes to an edit; so I'm not sure if the second half of the video is somehow corrupted, don't know how to check that, and not sure what to do if it is.
Another suggestion given to me was to delete the event my footage is in, then create a new event, re-upload all the footage into that one, and relink my project files to it. He also said don't delete my event and project folder at the same time, which I'm not even sure how you simultaneously delete two things on a laptop. I don't understand how this method would work though, since deleting the event makes my project disappear since it has nothing to link to. I'm scared to try this method since I don't want to lose my work; I really don't want to color correct it all over again.
Is there any way to successfully export the file suitable for youtube posting, or is this a bug in the system they haven't fixed yet?

    Just turned off background rendering.
I'm not certain what you mean for specs in a specific point in the video, but here are the specs for the entire edit I initially received:
    Dimensions: 1920 X 1080
    Codecs: H.264, AAC, Timecode
    2 Audio Channels
    Total bit rate: 12,083
Size: 951,735,770 bytes (951.7 MB on disk)
Here are the specs for the exported video that has the audio issue:
    Dimensions: 1920 X 1080
    Codecs: H.264, AAC, Timecode
    2 Audio Channels
    Total bit rate: 12,274
Size: 966,817,082 bytes (966.8 MB on disk)
The video is 10:28 minutes long and the audio leaves at 5:57.
If that wasn't what you were looking for, just let me know. I'm not very good with technical stuff sometimes so may have misunderstood.
Is there something I should have done to the piece before I began color correcting it, like transcoding?

  • Exporting videos to Ipod format qith QuickTime Pro

    Hey guys,
i just recently bought an Ipod Video, and i use Quicktime Pro to convert videos to ipod format for it. My problem is that the converted video (M4V) never has any audio. Wheather i try listening to is on my computer or on the ipod, no audio at all. Did anyone experience the same thingf? Does anyone know what i'm doing wrong, or how to fix it?
    thank you,

Open the original video in QT Player and check MovieInfo. If it says the video is a muxed mpeg then QT Player Pro will not convert the sound from such videos: QT Mpeg Limitations

  • Trouble exporting video files HELP!

I have a few Flash animation projects that I want to put on
my demo reel, but I can't get the animations in a usable format.
The bulk of the animation is a walk cycle in a movie clip. Of
course, when I hit play in flash, I see frame one of the movie clip
standing there for 16 frames, then it skips forward and stands over
there for 16 frames, then it skips forward, but the whole animation
plays smoothly when I export the .swf file.
However, whenever I try to export a video file all I get is
this useless frame one skip that you see when you hit play in
Flash. Anyone know how I can fix this? Are there video editing
programs that will take .swf files?
So far I've tried exporting into .avi and .gif.
Whenever I try exporting to .mov, I get this message.
"The installed version of Quicktime does not have a handler
for this type of flash movie. Please consult the documentation for
    further information."

There are a couple of things you can try. None great but most
will do. First, make sure you have the latest version of Quicktime
installed. If you can afford it buy the Pro version. Its pretty
cheap and you won't regret it. It makes converting all sorts of
    files simple.
Second. I'm not sure what version of Flash you are using. The
older versions of Flash were pretty crappy at exporting video.
Flash CS3 Professional is little better but its something. Anyway,
if you don't have this download the 30day demo and give exporting
.mov from Flash CS3 a shot (after you install the latest version of
    Quicktime)
Another thing you can try do is use a screen capture software
such as SnagIt or CaptureWiz. They will allow you to capture your
Flash movie as video and both have demos you can try before you
    buy.
And one other thing I have done to capture my Flash files,
which works great, is to capture my screen to video. If you have
the capability to export your monitor to video or better yet a
firewire videocam and then someway to edit it your Flash to video
life will be easy as pie.
    Good luck

  • Having trouble syncing video to Ipod Classic 160GB

    Hi all,
Finally moved up to an Ipod after a few too many years with other brands...and am really enjoying the Ipod/Itunes combo for music.
Video's a different matter, though, and I could use your help!
I'm trying to get a few videos onto my Classic, and have converted them into MP4 format and put them in the "Movies" folder in Itunes (they show up alongside every video I've shot on my digital camera). My Ipod is set to sync automatically, and does so for music, but not for video. I was able to get the videos on using the instructions I found on http://www.ehow.com/how4925922download-videos-onto-ipod-classic.html , but the next time I synced music on my Ipod, it removed the videos I'd added.
Is there a way that I could add videos manually, and keep syncing music automatically, without the automatic syncing removing things that I added manually? Or could I set Itunes/Ipod up such that music is automatically queued for syncing, while videos need to be approved for syncing?
Basically, how can I get this to work?
    Many thanks for your help.

    Hello stopheles,
    And welcome to Apple Discussions!
How do you currently have your iPod set up to sync Videos? What settings do you have enabled from under the Videos tab for your iPod in iTunes? Specifically, the "Automatically sync (Select Option Here, e.g. all) movies" option on this tab.

  • Premiere CS4 exported videos for ipod all show black screen when played

    Hi,
I am trying to export a video for an ipod from an mp4 source file.
The project settings are set to ipod and so are the export settings. I get a normal video file (mp4) with the right resolution etc. The sync with itunes works without problems and i get the right thumbnail of the video in the Ipod menu.
But when i try to play the video i only get a black screen, the timer is running and i have sound.
I think i have tried all the possible settings. None of them worked.
Can you help me? Where is the problem?
    Thank you

export to a regular .wmv file, or any other type you want.
now use a program like this one:
    http://www.imtoo.com/ipod-movie-converter.html
If you have deep pockets you can try Sorenson Squeeze.
or you can try this one
    http://www.xilisoft.com/ipod-video-converter.html
unfortunately this doesn't solve your problem the way you wish. ( a free fix )
I'd do a good Google search for answers, with some good keywords, and you may find
a solution that won't cost you anything.

  • Trouble putting videos on iPod

I have a 30GB Video iPod, and I recently took some videos with my digi camera and wanted to put them on my iPod so I can watch whenever. The format is a format iTunes recognizes (.MOV format...and it opens with Quicktime). I have it in my movie list on iTunes, and I can click on it, and it will play fine. But as soon as I go to sync all the songs and the videos to my iPod I get this message:
"Some of the videos in your iTunes library, including the video "Sonny being tested with a stick and plastic bag", were not copied to the iPod....because they cannot be played by this iPod."
How come I can play it in iTunes, but it says I can't play it on my iPod? How can I make it so I can play it on my iPod? Thanks!!!!!

I have the same problems with you.
    Same 30GB 5G iPod.
So if you are familar with the iPod supported formats, you will know clearly about this.
And I just put the *+Pavtube Video Converter+* converted H.264 mp4 format to my iPod.
Same message with you "can't play video on the iPod.
