Trouble finding tool bars

hi there,
this probably requires a very simple answer, but i'm having a hard time locating the on screen tool bars. i just downloaded indesign and just have a blank workspace without tool bars. please help. thanks.

Well, if you just downloaded it, there's a chance that the install itself is messed up, so if nothing else works you can always uninstall and reinstall. Do a search for "Adobe clean script" before you uninstall.
But, assuming that your install of ID is not borked:
1) Just whack the tab key. (That hides most of the UI. It shouldn't start hidden, but it's the easiest thing to try.)
2) Up in the upper right hand corner of the screen, there should be a workspace selector. By default, I think you'd start with the "Essentials" workspace. Can you pull that down and choose a new workspace? Does that change anything?
3) And, of course, you can always go to Window and open a panel. Does that work?
I have no idea what's going on on your side, but I think if you try those things and report back then we should have a little bit more to work with.

How can I make disappear the finder tool bar in the second monitor?
(I have to use ProVideoPlayer, a professional application for presenting videos and I really need a clean second monitor!)

After changing that setting and logging out and back in as it indicated, do you still have two menu bars?
If you are already set up that way and want to move the menu bar to the other monitor, drag it there in the Arrangement tab of the Displays system pref.

  • Retriving missing finder tool bar at top on macbook

The finder tool bar has disappeared from the top of my macbook screen. How do I make it come back?

    Full Screen Mode?
The application window has entered Full Screen mode.
To exit Full Screen mode press the esc key  (top leftmost key on the keyboard) .
Move the mouse pointer to the screen and hold it there for few seconds.
Menubar  / Toolbar will drop down.
Click the blue double arrow icon at top right end of the bar.
Window should exit Full Screen mode.

  • How to remove random icons in Finder tool bars...

How do I get rid of these things? My finder windows all have, in addition to the normal items, the poster art for an MP4 file I haven't watched in weeks, a question mark and the icon for an app I rarely use. When I normally click on the MP4 it opens the movie in QuickTime, on the question mark it tells me the item cannot be found and the app icon opens the icon. When I left click on any of them, I'm only given the options to make all my tool bar items tiext, text and icons or customize my tool bar but in the customize option there is no way to remove the MP4, question mark or app icon. Why are they there and how can I get rid of them?

    Dominic,
Why would you bother to take the time to respond to a question you refuse to answer? If searching relating items had proven useful, I would not have posted my question. Why do you waste your own and everyone else's time posting completely unhelpful responses? What do you get out of that? Why are you trolling a board which mainly exists for problem solving if you have no interest in solving any problems? What's wrong with you?
    Best.

  • Read directions and can not find tool bar that allows me to authorize my new computer

Bought a new computer and somehow I can not find where to authorize the computer on my account.  Read directions and can not find the tool bar they mention.

There's a couple of ways to get through to the authorisation controls in the 11.0.x versions.
The control is still in the Store menu, but first (if you're using iTunes versions 11.0.x) you might need to bring up the menu bar to see the Store menu.
If you're using 11.0.x, click on the wee boxy icon up in the top-left corner of your iTunes to see the "Show Menu Bar" control, as per the following screenshot:
Then you'll find the control in the Store menu:
Alternatively, if you don't want to bring up the menu bar, it's still possible to get into the authorise controls via nested menus accessible from the wee boxy icon. Here's a screenshot of where to find them:

  • Removing Short Cuts from Finder Tool Bar

    Hi
I have got some email, folder and question mark icons on my Finder Task bar. I can't clear them using preference or right clicking. I can't drag them off ether. Does anyone have any idea how to clear them?
    Thanks

If you placed an item in the toolbar, then hold down the COMMAND key and drag the item out of the toolbar. If it's an item that is put in the toolbar by the OS, then select Customize Toolbar from the View menu of the Finder, then remove any item.

  • Cano't find tool bar in order to add Forget button - quickly delete your browsing history on Firefox

in order to following steps to add forget button .
    1- press menu button
the problem is I could not find this menu button . So I cannot follow mentioned steps .

    Hello,
If you have version 33.1 and using a locale that this feature has been released for, try looking for the Forget button in:
    * Menu [[Image: New Fx Menu]] - the menu should be located on the far right of your browser below your window close button [X] (assuming you are not using the Classic Theme Restorer extension)
If you still don't see the Forget button, the Forget button isn't present in certain locales yet - you could try it with Firefox 34 Beta: https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/beta/

  • Tool Bar, etc.

How do I add the "to do" button to the finder tool bar and "reminders" to the side bar? I had expected them to be in place in any default setting. The "to do" button is not included in the panel for custommizing the tool bar.

To Do is a feature of mail and ical not Finder. you can't add it to finder toolbar as you found out. why you would expect it to be available there? don't know what kind of "reminders" button you mean at all.

I am not sure what your problem is, can you give more details.
One possibility is you may be in full screen mode, for details on fixing that see the [[menu bar is missing]] article.
If you are missing various toolbar items, see the [[back and forward or other toolbar items are missing]] article.
If your problem is something else please give more details.

  • Where can I find the Mozilla SAVE/PRINT/Email tool bar? In my prior version it popped out in the top left corner of the screen.

Last week I had a system crash of my Windows 8 OS. When the system was "restored" all of my personal files (docs, jpeg, excl, etc.) were still available, but I can't figure out how to PRINT a DOC. Up until last week I had a Mozilla tool bar that included, among other functions - SAVE / PRINT / EMAIL.
Also, and I don't know if you can help me with this, but I also can't find my WORD, Powerpoint and Excel software???
We used new and official HP recovery disks.
    Any insight would be appreciated.
    THXZ.

On Windows 8, by default, Firefox displays an orange Firefox button instead of the classic menu bar. To switch between them, you can use either:
    * right-click a blank area of the tab bar, or the new tab ("+") button > Menu Bar
    * tap the Alt key to display the menu bar temporarily > View > Toolbars > Menu Bar
Did you get back all your Firefox data (e.g., Bookmarks, any Saved Passwords, etc.)?
Sometimes a system recovery/reinstall will stash your old data in a folder named
    C:\Windows.old
If you have that folder, I know it takes up a lot of space, but I suggest keeping it around if you can because you may discovery things missing that you can recover from that folder.

In the last few days, it seems that my computer has all of a sudden caught a virus.
As others have pointed out, this isn't malware. That should not be your first (or even fifty-first) thought when your Mac starts misbehaving. For more on this topic, see my Mac Malware Guide.
I know the last ditch effort (after cleaning and maintenance of disc verification and permissions and repairs, is to reboot from the system disc.
You mention "cleaning and maintenance." Have you been running utilities claiming to do those things? If so, you may be the victim of an overly-zealous cleaning job, which has removed important files and damaged your system.
If I'm understanding correctly, you're unable to open any applications at all... is that right? Do you have any backups? If you don't have backups, you're in a sticky situation, as it will be difficult to make backups in your current state, but you shouldn't try any kind of repairs without them. (Actually, you shouldn't do anything with your computer without backups, but this is especially important when something is going badly wrong.)
If you have backups, reboot from your Snow Leopard install disc. From there, first, repair the hard drive with Disk Utility. Once that is done, assuming repairs were successful, reinstall the system. You can simply reinstall it on top of your current system, and it will replace any damaged or lost system files with new copies. (You'll also need to update the system via Software Update after reinstalling.)
If you don't have backups, or if Disk Utility can't repair damage, or if the problem continues even after a reinstall, post back with those details.
