Trouble getting iTunes to open..
Our PC's hardrive crashed about a few weeks ago and we had it replaced. My mom's friend who put the new hardrive in the computer downloaded the newest version of iTunes when he was putting our programs and such on the new hardrive. I got my iPod Nano for Christmas, and it came with the previous version of iTunes.
With the new version, I couldn't synch songs to my iPod no matter what I tried, so I gave up and decided to uninstall the new version and reinstall the version that came with my iPod. It said it installed successfully and I restarted the computer. When I tried to open it, I got the iTunes Software Licensing Agreement, so I clicked the 'Agree' button, then I got an error code that says, "The file 'iTunes Library.itl' cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of iTunes." I tried uninstalling and reinstalling it once more and had the same issue.
Help!

TS1424 I am having trouble getting Itunes to open
I am having trouble getting ITUNES to work I have deleted itunes and everything associated with it and reinstalled and I still get the same errors,
The application has failed to start because of MSVCR80.DLL
INTUNES WAS NOT INSTALLED CORRECTLY ERROR 7
THIS APPLICATION FAILED TO START BECAUSE ICUDT49.DLL WAS NOT FOUNDGo to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
iTunes
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
Bonjour
Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
Please note:
Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.

Many thanks for your post. I've been trying for days to get this sorted and was getting well fed up with I-Tunes. Really thought i'd never get it working again. Tried un-installing it, loading older versions and they still wouldn't work.
Came across your suggestion by chance and top man - it worked..!!!!
How you even knew what to do is beyond me - but thanks so much. I really was pulling my hair out.
You need to put your post over the Web as there seem to be loads of people having the same trouble.
Thanks again. -

How do I get iTunes to open in 32-bit mode if I don't have a Mac, just a PC
I am trying to play a tv show on my PC that I bought on iTunes and it says I don't have the Quicktime, or something like that. So I downloaded a new Quicktime and it still says that. So I clicked on more info and it took me to an Apple page showing how to get iTunes to open in 32-bit mode from a Mac. I have a PC and I need to know how to get iTunes to run in 32-bit mode
You can use "History > Restore Previous Session" to get those page back.
Are you restarting this way?
# Close Firefox
# Open the Applications folder in Finder
# Right click or control-click the Firefox.app icon
# Select "Get Info"
# Select "Open in 32-bit mode"
# Close the "Firefox Info" window
# Restart Firefox -
Cannot get Itunes to open in windows 7 64 bit
I have installed after a complete reformating of my hard disk, installed and reinstalled itunes several times after a complete unistall of all related programs and tried just about everything that is recommended. What can I do to get itunes to open on my computer
RockyrobinAre you getting any error messages? Perhaps this post would be more suited for the iTunes forums since it's an issue with the iTunes application itself and not your iPod.

Can't get iTunes to open after upgrading
After I downloaded the new version of iTunes (6.0.4) i couldn't get it to open. No matter what I do the application will not open. The iTunes.exe process shows up on my Windows Task Manager screen, but the application doesn't appear under the applications tab. I've tried uninstalling and then reinstalling iTunes and repairing iTunes and nothing has worked. I've also tried downloading old versions of iTunes and they didn't work either. I've also tried turning off all of my anti-virus software and uninstalling then reinstalling it. All of my music is still intact, but I can't play it or use the music store because Itunes won't open. PLease help me get iTunes to open.
How didu get those older versions, i cant find them

Cant get itunes to open after update. have uninstalled and reinstalled 3 times
Cannot get itunes to open after updating. Have uninstalled and reinstalled 3 times asper itunes instructions.
Okay. That's got the most common (current) possibility ruled out.
There's a lot of stuff that might be on the table still, though.
In the course of your troubleshooting to date, have you worked through the following document?
iTunes for Windows Vista or Windows 7: Troubleshooting unexpected quits, freezes, or launch issues -
I just reinstalled iTunes, and it will not open, as it says iTunes library itl. was created from an earlier version. Any idea what this means, and how I can get itunes to open?
Many thanks.
That suggests that another application has stashed old QuickTime componentry in your system files.
So just in case we'll go looking for older QuickTime componentry in the most common locations for it to be stashed.
First we'll need to change some view settings.
In your Start menu, open Computer.
In your Organise menu, select Folder Options.
In the View tab, make sure that "Show hidden files and folders" is selected, and Hide extensions for known file types is unchecked.
Click OK.
Now in Computer, open your C:\ drive (or whichever drive you have your operating system installed on).
Open the "Windows" folder.
If you have a 32-bit version of Windows, open the "System32" folder.
If you have a 64-bit version of Windows, open the "SysWOW64" folder.
What files and folders can you see in there with QuickTime in the title? (In a standard installation of Quicktime you should be seeing precisely two files... QuickTime.qts and QuickTimeVR.qtx ... and no QuickTime folders whatsoever.) -
Please someone help...
I updated Itunes a while ago from 9. something to 10.3
When i did this my computer usage went to 100% and basically froze. The only way to get computer working was to end tasks and processes in task manager.
I uninstalled itunes and then reinstalled it. since doing this i cannot even get itunes to open???
I cant update my phone to change handset from iphone 4 to 4s that ive had for a month now.
Any help?Hello there, Tricia.
You may have to find the download folder for the browser you are using and launch the installer from there. Another option you may want to try is using another browser to download and install iTunes. The following Knowledge Base article offers up some steps for how to download iTunes using Windows Internet Explorer:
