Trouble getting music on ipod touch

i haven't had any problems putting music on my ipod touch before today and when i tried to add more music i would drag the album to my ipod and i would get the circle with a diagonal line through it and it wouldn't add what can i do to fix this problem?

Is the *Manually Manage music and videos* option still ticked from under your iPod's Summary tab in iTunes? If not, it would explain why you can not drag and drop music to your iPod.

I can't seem to get my ipod touch (2nd Gen) to sync with my itunes library. Had Trouble installing itunes 10.6.1 and abandoned the effort on main computer for now (out of FRUSTRATION!!!) and instead tried to sync with my sons computer. It wiped the ipod (expected that) but now when I try to sync for music it only downloads a few songs. HELP!!!! Please??? Get the message that sync could not be completed because sync failed to start. You need to transfer the iTunes folder from the old computer to the new one.

How to get music off ipod touch 5 and onto new hard drive

Help.
My PC crashed. I have an itunes acct. I was able to back up most music to external hard drive - except that which was more recently purchased by son through his ipod touch 5 (that he got for Christmas.)
I see that ipod touch 5 will not open as an external storage device in order to download and back up songs to external hard drive or flash drive...
I have a new laptop. Itunes is not yet installed on it.
I am afraid that if I do install the Itunes - then he plugs in his Ipod to sync - he will sync to an empty folder - thus erasing his songs...
Is this right?
Or do my libraries still exist?
I would really feel most comfortable if I could just get the songs off of his IPod and into back up before I install ITunes on the new laptop.
I can always re-import the songs back into Itunes, can't I?
I am not too computer savvy - please consider in reply.

Correct. The iod touch is not a backup/storage device.

Also correct.

Your library will only be where you put them. You shoudl always maintain a backup copy of your comptuer.
Copy everything from the backup copy to your new computer.
You can transfer itunes purchases from an ipod: Without syncing - File>Devices>Transfer Purchases

Having trouble getting audiobooks onto iPod Touch

I've tried troubleshooting this for my mom to no avail...
We've found them in the iPod tab on iTunes -- they are all there, and she's able to check the box to Sync to her iPod, but nothing. She's got enough capacity... we've even tried moving them to a playlist but those playlists will mysteriously not show up in the Sync tab on iTunes...
Any idea what's going on here? Trying to help from 1500 miles away but it's hard to tell.

Are you positive these audiobooks are configured to sync to the iPod Touch? Wouldn't hurt to double check.
Plug your iPod in and when it appears in iTunes, click on its name from under the Devicessection in the left hand pane of iTunes. This will bring you to the iPod's Summary tab. Look for the Books configuration tab along the top and click that.
There should be an option right that the top that says Sync Audiobooks with a checkbox next to it. Make sure it is ticked. Then configure other settings below that.

How do I get my new iPod Touch 64 Gb to play music through my stereo system

As a newbie owner of an iPod Touch 64GB I am trying to figure out how to get music on my Touch to play through my home stereo system. Is there a way to use the output from the Touch via the earphone plug to input to a stereo pre-amplifier to play my music.

Sorry but I am pretty sure there isn't a shop which offers such a service.
Apple stores offer a 14 day remorse period where you can return a purchase for a full refund without having to give a reason however this has probably expired - unless you bought from a different store with a similar system which you still happen to be within the time limit for.
Your best bet would be to sell your iPod 3G and put the money towards a new one. If you are having trouble selling it an Apple store will take it and give you 10% off a new iPod.

Trying to get cd onto ipod touch but snching options are greyed out - I've opted to manually manage.

I'm trying to get CD onto ipod touch. copied it into ITunes library but when I get to synching 'selected playlists etc' all options are greyed out. If I try and clink sync in bottom right hand corner it gives me warning msg that everything already on ipod will be deleted and I don't want that. any ideas?

Head to Settings -> General -> Restrictions on your iPod Touch and make sure that restrictions for app installations are turned off.

I am have trouble getting music I have already purchased in the past to transfer to my phone after I did an update. The music is there and I can see it but it cannot be played when the music is put on shuffle. It just skips right past it? How do you fix?

I can see the music, it is in a lighter font and appears to still be there but will not play. When placed on shuffle it will skip right over this music. I have already paid for this music and have been able to play it at one time but that was before the update. Why can I not listen to this music anymore?

Sounds like you need a new battery. I would make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store to confirm. Apple will replace the battery for $79. A third-party place like the folloing may be less expensive. Google for more places.

Can you connect to a wifi source on the device? Enable wifi in settings on the device itself. If you don't have wifi at home, there may be a local hotspot you can use for this.
The reason this happens is carriers don't want people downloading huge files that would slow their network as well as eat up your data plan.

Try deleting the problematic file (electing to remove original file if/when prompted) and then re-downloading the file from the iTunes store.
You can re-download content purchased from the iTunes store (availability varies depending on location) using the purchased option from the Quick Links section in the top right corner of the iTunes homepage in your iTunes application on your computer.
