This is a common problam discussed on the Netgear forums.  I have yet to see a solution, just comments that there will need to be a fix from Netgear.  if anyone has heard of a solution or of the update being issued, please let us know.

  • Troubles with graphic card driver at Equium A60

    Hello everybody,
At first sorry for my bad English.
I have some trouble with the driver of my graphic card. After a new installation I just wanted to install the driver of the ATI Radeon 7000 (I have an Equium A60), after this I had to ascertain that my pc was out of order. The trouble was because the driver, I'm sure, because after a new installation, without the VGA-drive, my notebook is working, somehow.... I mean, I'm sure it could work better if the graphic would have an own driver.
I have been searching on the web and I did see that this was not a new problem; many people have the same trouble with it. Somehow, the pc's own driver is not compatible.
Could anyone help me to find a solution for my problem?
    Thanks a lot,
    Eurytheus

Sorry my friend but your posting sounds really unbelievable. Original Toshiba driver is not compatible with the hardware. It can not be. It can not be the truth!
Your notebook model is almost 4 years old and I presume Toshiba have had enough time to react if display driver is somehow problematic. I recommend you to back up all your data and try to install your notebook using original recovery image. If there is no hardware problem notebook should work well again.
Sorry but I do not see any other solution there because the driver is definitely tested and it must work well.

Believe it or not, it was the FireWire drive that was the problem! I managed to successfully install Windows 7 using an external USB DVD drive!
Well I am truly staggered, I have tried this on two different MacBook Pros, with three different external USB optical drives. Don't know if you googled as I suggested but you would find hundreds of others who have found same thing. The exception is MacBook Air which works with the Apple writer, but I don't know much about this.
Were you doing any of the special workarounds with refedit etc?
    What model USB DVD drive?

You need to restart with the Option key held down, boot from the computer's original thumbdrive(if any) or the recovery partition(10.7+), and erase the drive from there.

  • Trouble with external hard drive. help.

I was formatting my hard drive to allow larger GB files with a lot of trouble so I got my other hard drive which I have previously formatted to find the program that worked. It was formatted with NTFS so I downloaded NTFS 3G and restarted my computer (iMac intel) after trying to format my portable hard drive to ntfs the software didnt work so I uninstalled it. Now my external hard drive will not read on my iMac but it will on my TV and Windows computer. When I installed the software a little error message popped up but i made no changes to the external hard drive and now it wont read on my mac.
The hard drive is a Western Digital My Book 1TB

Did you read this section of the ntfs 3g website?  I don't use the program but it may have left pieces of itself on your mac causing your current problems.
You can type the following in a terminal window to see what "non-apple" drivers are still loaded on your system.
    kextstat | grep -v com.apple

  • Hooking up esata drives to an Xserve

Hello! Newbie here. We have an Xserve 2x2.8Ghz Quad core Intel with 2 gigs of Ram. I need to hook up external Esata drives to copy files on and off the Xserve and the raid. There are firewire connectors but no Esata connectors so I guess I have to buy a card. My question is, which one? I don't need to make the external drives raids, I just want to hook them up so I can copy files. Anyone have a reliable card that they use? Thanks

    I've used Sonnet cards before - http://www.sonnettech.com/product/temposatae4p.html
Check the compatibility listing, though - there are specific issues with certain drive make/models.

  • Trouble hooking my Mac up to my Kodak printer dock... help!!!

Oh boy, do I ever need help! I'm not even sure where else to turn or what to do next, so any and all suggestions are MORE than welcome!!!!!
I guess the best way to do this would be to copy and paste the email I sent to both Kodak and Apple. Then you can see what it is exactly that's going on.
"I have the Kodak Easyshare printer dock that I got as a gift in June of 2005. It worked printing pictures off of my old computer (a 2002 Gateway desktop) but that computer crashed and now I have a new Macbook OS X Version 10.4.10. The new computer is not recognizing the printer dock, although I downloaded all of the new software and drivers. My camera is recognized fine, but I can't print from home.
When I spoke with customer support yesterday, we both uninstalled and installed software and drivers, did a test print from the printer itself (which worked fine) and plugged and unplugged the USB cord multiple times. None of these things worked and the representative suggested I talk to the computer company to see if the problem was there.
I went into the Apple store today and had a Mac specialist take a look at the computer and programs. He also uninstalled and installed software and checked to see if the printer was being recognized under the system profiler. The specialist could find nothing wrong with the computer, which is brand-new (only about two weeks old) and suggested I call Kodak back and ask that they email me a driver, tell me where to put it in my computer, and hook up the printer that way.
I called Kodak again today after visiting the Apple store, and spent about an hour on the phone with another representitive, who informed me that the drivers were all located on the website and could not be emailed. We went through a lot of the same procedures that I did with the representitive yesterday and that the specialist did at the Apple store, and the Kodak representitive ended up speaking with her supervisor and telling me that the problem might be with my USB cord. She said to plug my printer into another computer and see if it was recognized under the system profilier printer section. I tested that, and the printer dock was not recognized under the printer section, but was recognized under the USB section.
If I have used the same USB cord to transfer pictures from my camera to my computer, and if the USB section of the system profiler recognizes that the printer is hooked up, then wouldn't that mean the USB cord is working? Should I buy a new USB cord anyways? If the USB cord is in fact not the problem, and both the printer dock itself and the computer itself are working fine, what are the next steps I should take? I do not want to have to get a new camera and, as the printer dock is working, I don't think it would make sense to get rid of that one.
I suppose the big question I am asking is where should I turn now to get this problem fixed? I feel as though I've done everything I can, but I still can't print pictures and I would like to be able to. Your support would be appreciated."
Help me help me help me!!!! THANKS!!!!!

I was having the same problems as you, but I finally got the Kodak driver recognized. This was on an iMac Core Duo 2 w/10.4.10. Here are the steps I used:
    1. Disconnect the printer from Mac. This is an important step.
    2. Restart the Mac.
    3. Using the CD that came with Kodak printer, uninstall the printer drivers. If you do not have the CD, you can go to folder HD -> Library -> Printers -> Kodak -> Printers, and run the KodakPrinterUninstaller app there.
    4. When done, restart the Mac again.
    5. Now download Kodak Printer Driver package 5.0.0 as linked above from Durante.
    6. Run installer to install driver.
    7. Restart the Mac again.
    8. Now connect the Kodak printer (via USB) and turn on.
    9. Using the steps listed by Durante again, you should be able to see "Kodak Printers" in the pop-up menu. On my system, it is between "HP IP Printing" and Lexmark Inkjet Networking".
I may have more restarts than necessary, but I did not attempt to optimize my steps. I was just glad I was able to finally recognize the printer. Good luck to you.

  • Macbook pro, trouble with external hard drives

I just got the drive on my mid-2010's macbook pro replaced at Apple. I am now experiencing a new problem.
My macbook is having trouble with ALL my external hard-drives. After a few minutes of being plugged in I click on them to open and the finder window is blank. Its not allowing me to veiw the content stored on the drive. If I keep trying my computer will freeze. I try to 'Force Eject' the drive and it doesnt eject so I have to unplug then start over.
This seems to happen roughly about 5 minutes after I plug them in. They work fine the first 5 minutes. Its becoming extremly annoying. All my drives are different makes, sizes, etc.. so I pretty sure its the macbook.
    What might the problem be?
    Thanks,
    Shane

  • Trouble setting up hard drive

i'm having trouble setting up my hard drive. i have a 40GB with 5 partitions:
part1 (primary) - slackware install with boot flag
    part2 (primary) - /home directory
    part3 (primary) - 1GB swap
    part5 (logical) is ~10GB storage
part6 (logical) is ~10GB free space
i enter the setup utility, set up part6 as a linux partition, logical, with boot flag, write the changes, then quit. i think once or twice it prompted me to reboot, so i rebooted.
then i tried to set the filesystem mount points. i select part3 for swap, part6 for /, and then Done (will manually mount /home later, don't want to mess with it now).
the installer seems to successfully set up the swap, then it fails to create the reiserfs on part6, with an error that it can't mount the partition:
    Error mounting /mnt/
    what is the problem?
appreciate any help - arch looks awesome, can't wait to get it going!
edit: the problem was indeed the logical partitions. it kind of sucks though, b/c now i have to use the full 20GB for the arch install, which will probably only take 1 or 2 GB. i wanted to keep that at 5-10GB at the most, because i want to use the rest of the disk as storage. well, i'm installing on the 20GB temporarily for now to check it out. if anyone has any pointers about how i can better structure the disk i'd appreciate it.

I dont know about lilo, which I guess you use because of Slackware, but you do not need any partition flagged as bootable with grub installed to the MBR.
    Here is my lappie:
    hda1 : 83 Linux  30Mb
    hda2 : 83 Linux  30Gb
    hda3 : 83 Linux 450Mb
    hda4 : 83 Linux  40Mb
The 30 & 40M patitions are just there for braneded distros that think you need swap or boot and therefore force them on you.
But what may interest you is that I do not have any of them flagged as bootable. The bootable flag makes absolutely no difference whatever to this machine, it boots wherever grub directs it to.

  • Permissions Trouble on a Shared Drive

    Hello out there,
I have setup a Lacie Ethernet Big Disk on an ethernet network connected through a Netgear GS748T switch. I am asking people to use it as a shared backup-drive among other things. I wanted to do a complete backup of all the files on there friday to take off-site and it had a lot of trouble with permissions which were basicallly looking like this:
    Name Privilege
    (unknown) Read&Write
    everyone No Access
When I log in as admin and try to change these permissions and then propogate them to the items inside, it appears to be happening but the new permissions don't stick.
This is just a temporary situation until we get our backup systems automated and done properly but in the meantime is there a way to set up permissions to be read and write for everyone on that disk?
Thanks for your help out there,
    Andrew
ps The shared drive has a static ip address, name and password and the computers that save to it run the gamut of OS 10.4 to 10.6 and even some windows PCs

Is anybody out there? Can anybody hear me?
Have I posted in the wrong topic?
    Do I smell?
Just trying to refresh my topic to see if there are any bites. Any info would be appreciated.
If you need to know more to answer, let me know.
    Thanks,
    Andrew

  • Trouble recognizing external hard drive

ok, so I had my mac g4 PowerBook become victim to a bad beverage spill, mother board fried. The hard drive had very valuable info on it so I took the laptop to have the hard drive removed and put in an external casing.
Now I currently use an iMac intel based system, so I assumed that my old hard drive would connect and work no questions asked. The icon for the drive will not show up and does not appear in the disk utility. It does however read in the system console log: "the IOUSBFamily is having trouble enumerating a USB device that has been plugged in. It will keep trying". So to me that means the computer sees it but can't do anything.. I have no idea what to do someone help! I need the data on this disc baadly
    Other info:
The external casing is made by icy dock, and the model # on that is MB 448UA
It plugs in via USB and I don't think this is a power issue because the drive does turn on and stay on.

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
Sounds like you have an incompatible USB hard drive case. There are some that just simply won't work with Macs without the proper firmware. Best to get a case from http://www.macsales.com/ or http://www.cooldrives.com/ and best to get a Firewire one. You can't use the Migration Assistant though. You'll have to migrate over whatever documents, and make sure all your applications work either with Rosetta or Universal.
