  • Hook up Linksys Router to ValetPlus?

I just purchased a TV with internet capabilities so I'd like to hook it up to my home network but it's way too far away for the direct connection they would like (no wireless adapter).  My home network is current up and running using the Valet Plus M20.
I have two old Linksys routers, the WRT54G2 and the WRT600N, can I wirelessly hook up one of these routers to my ValetPlus?  If so, how do I go about doing it?
    Thanks!

It is not possible to use Linksys router as a wireless bridge.
Two Linksys routers can not communicate with each other when wireless.
You can use wireless bridge WET610N.

  • Trouble Hooking up E2500 Wi-Fi Router

I just purchased this router and am having trouble hooking it up to my old HP Pavilion a1250n PC-I am currently using a wireless broadband card to access the Internet-Directions tell me to connect the router to my modem.  I have no external modem.  Do I have to obtain one?

    Go to Solution.

You probably have DSL service right? Then follow these instructionsions here.  You may have a direct connection with no modem if something like ATT fibre dsl.

  • Here's my trouble: set up my linksys router ~ a year ago,...

Here's my trouble: set up my linksys router ~ a year ago, all is fine. I recently wanted to set up WEP security. I go to the router's web-based setup page, go to wireless security, pick WPA personal, TKIP, and enter a WPA Shared Key. Voila. However, now I cannot connect. When I try to connect it can't seem to get past "authentication", and times out. I'm not asked for a password or key at any point. Suggestions?
    Thanks!

how old is your wireless computer? if you are not asked for the network key that means that the computer is recognizing the other saved networks on your computer. go to the choose a wireless network screen(right click on wireless network icon on the bottom right side of your screen and click on view available wireless network). click on the "change advanced settings" option on the left side of you screen.after that click on "wireless networks" tab then under preferred networks box below remove all the preferred networks that you see there. even if you see your network remove it as well..and after that try to connect to your network again...
sometimes those preferred networks blocks you to connect to a wireless network...

  • Trouble Connecting Airport Express to Linksys Router

I am running a Windows XP SP2 Dell that is connected via Ethernet to a Linksys router. That router goes to a DSL modem and a Linksys WAP. I connected the AX via Ethernet to the router and then plugged it in. Initially got the green light and the router actually appeared to recognize it for a few seconds. I then tried setting up the AX using the Airport Setup Wizard, but it never saw the connection. Now the AX is flashing Amber.
I've taken the firewall off and I can't see anything with the router software either. Any clues on how or what I need to do? Thanks.

Are you using WEP? If so, you may have an issue with the WEP key format. Take a look at this article, it helped me:
    http://tinyurl.com/s58m
This is especially important if the firmware you have installed on the AirPort Express is old. I believe the latest version of the firmware fixes this issue.
Bottom line, if you're using WEP and you have a hex-formatted key on your network, then (with older firmware) you may need to precede the WEP key with a "$" to tell the AirPort Express you're giving it a hex string and not an ASCII string.

  • Im having trouble portforwarding my linksys wrt54g router

ive looked at other post and one said something about on the status page of http://192.168.1.1/ it should be have the same internet ip address as on http://whatismyipaddress.com/ but mine are different... what should i do to get them to be the same for my portforwarding to work... also i have the portforwarding all set up and have tried many times to get it to work... im sure the settings for it are correct

Make sure you look for the Internet IP Address on the status tab of your router setup...If the Internet IP Address does not match with the IP Address on http://whatismyipaddress.com/ then it is highly possible that your ISP is a DSL ISP and the modem provided by your ISP is a modem/router and not just a modem...
However, the 192.168.1.1 IP Address is the default IP Address of your router...To setup Port Forwarding on your router your computer should be set to a fix ip address(When using a Linksys router, any fixed LAN IP address must be outside the DHCP server range (DHCP range is typically 192.168.1.100 thru 192.168.1.149), and it cannot end in 0, 1, or 255)...Then you can setup Port Forwarding for the Fix/Static LAN IP Address of your computer...

  • Linksys Router Trouble!

Help!  I just got a Linksys router from a moving neighbor.  The router is a Linksys WRT54G v5. She didn't have the power adaptor, so I found one that is 12VDC 500mA and it works.  The factory resetted the device.  I always get a signal, but it has that little error sign on it.  It says my internet connection is broken.  I believe this is caused by a bad ethernet port, but I have gotten into the internet sometimes.  Help!  I have another router but it doesn't work either.  On the other router I get a signal that as no error sign and says "Internet Access" but I still cannot access the internet.  My laptop's network card works.  I prefer wireless so yeah.  Please help.

You have to login to the routers admin pages and configure the router for your ISP.  Have you done this? Instructions are on the web and on this forum if you search.

  • Linksys router interupts service often

I have my PC and G5 hooked up by hard wire to my linksys router. My Powerbook is wireless. My linksys router oftern interupts the internet service. Sometimes everday. I know its the router because I have unplugged my internet line from the router and plugged it into the modem and the internet works.
My only solution at this point is to shut down my G5, unplug the modem and router. Once the G5 is shut down, I plug the modem back in, then the router. Once those are going, I turn my G5 on and the internet is back up....at least for a day.
Does anyone know how I can fix this interruption? The only other observation I have noticed is that most of the time, the interruption happens after either my G5 or powerbook were asleep, then I hoped onto the internet.
    Thanks.

Wireless connections have been lots of trouble for Airport. Firmware updates have improved reception. And some improvements with OS updates.
    Newer router? latest firmware?
Loss of connection on wake from sleep was noted in MacFixit article.
Are you using 10.4.5 or something more current?

  • HELP PLEASE !!! Can't get Linksys router to work.

    Okay, I am a new owner of an Alu-imac 2.4 ghz !!!!!!
Installed Leopard last night and wanted to get my internet set up and ……. IT DIDN'T WORK !!!!!!!!
The Diagnostic thing wouldn't recognize my internet.
    (Info for you):
    1) I have an Linksys wireless router that is right behind the computer. I have to have a router for my 360 and my PS3 across the room. So I had the cable internet modem hooked to the wireless router and then to the computer. (just like it was hooked up to my PC)
    2) I tried everything I could think of to get it to work. The diagnostic show that the Ethernet had a green light, but it would not let me online at all.
    3) So then I tried unplugging the modem and the router and still nothing. (It gets stuck on the page where it asks "do you use a cable modem, if so please restart it and then hit continue") And still nothing.
    4) So then I tried to just run the internet straight from the cable modem to the imac, and this didn't work either….. Then for some reason like a 1/2 later the network settings brought up the IP and everything and I had internet.
    5) *But I need my Linksys router to be used !!!!* Is there any advice any of you can give me !!! I can call Linksys if I need to when I get off work, but I thought maybe some of you could help me first. *I did have to call Linksys before I could get the router to work on my old PC as well*, so maybe it's something with them ????
HELP PLEASE !!!! I want to love my Imac so much.

fonz500, are you still having this issue or is this now a dead thread?
Let us know if your still need help.

  • How do i add a Linksys Router to my MacBook?

I have a relatively new MacBook, purchased last year....
Do i hook up the Router and, then, switch to Airport to set up my router password?

I have a linksys router hooked straight into the AE so I can use it for its VOIP ports. It works no problems, but you might need to plug your computer into the linksys router when you're trying to access the camera.

Hi, I have a wireless linksys router model WRT54G. what i want to do it´s configure a network in my home. I have 2 pc´s, a laptop an a desktop. what I should do to be able to share files, music, videos. between both computers? the laptop has Windows Vista, the desktop has Windows XP Professional. could you give me more details? step by step.   thank you really much.

its really simple to set up a network, first make sure that all computers are in the same workgroup by right clicking on my computer, then properities, then computer name.
there you can make the setting for the work group
do not use the default one, create your own, do this for each computer.
next thing is to choose any folder that you want to share and right click on it, select sharing, then check the two boxes to share this folder and the other one to allow others to make changes to this folder.
doing this bypasses the trouble od setting up passwords for right now.
you should not have the network up and running with folders being shared with all in that workgroup.
you may want to check the manual for vesta as it may do things a bit differant that xp
you could also run the create a network wizard in the xp system.

No they should be agnostic about what is behind them, but as to support for IP6, or whether any computers or tablets can use AC... and hasn't Apple's own units sometimes stop being supported with new Mac and new versions of OS X? seems so.
I said above, why would anyone install any kind of software to use a router? although Netgear's GEnie is or was installed on my systems that adds a nice way to log in and manage the router, so I have to take that back a notch.
Support for modems and ISPs is a concern, my modem is not certified fully with DOCSIS 3.0 or  FIOS.
Look around and you can find routers having trouble with some network services like Airplay, printing and scanning, the software bundled with router.
However, ethernet chips, and the driver, can be a factor. Problems with Intel networking chip and high bandwidth streaming and not being able to handle the load when used by wifi euipment like notebooks and other devices.
I have only seen the LARGE number of complaints on MacBook forums about wifi issues to suspect something is wrong but not sure what. And those are people that depend on wifi I assume, though some could use their Thunderbolt equipped Mac to use ethernet to get around the problems. And I am seeing the same thing with some Windows users and maybe they all have common Intel chips???
MacBook Pro constantly losing wireless connectivity
I use Windows 8.1 primarily. I also don't know enough or as much to know "Why is the sky blue" either.
    Just pass along this example:
If you're setting up a new PC for the first time, check if your router is fully compatible with Windows. Because of the new networking features in Windows (8.1), some older network routers aren't fully compatible and can cause problems. For a list of routers that are compatible with Windows 8.1 and Windows RT 8.1, go to the Windows Compatibility Center.
Anyone remember when 10.4.0 had so many issues with LAN that it could not be used, work on fix was going on and wasn't complete until 10.4.2/4.3 (and first time we got a new full 10.4.3 DVD because customers needed a reliable system.

  • Connecting Ipod Touch to Home Network via Linksys Router

After hours of frustrating attempts and able assistance from Apple product specialists and Linksys agents the issue was finally resolved inadvertently. Here's the solution for anyone having trouble:
    1. Perform a hard reset on the router - holding tiny red button next to the power cable in for 30 seconds.
    2. Perform a soft reset on the router - unplug the power cable for 30 seconds.
    3. Reset your cable modem.
    4. After rebooting everything, go to your router pages on the web. Re-establish your network settings. Make sure the Wireless Mac Filter setting is disabled. That worked for us. Hope it will save others the time and trouble we experienced.

    Thanks for posting your resolution.
I would also like to mention that Linksys router owners should always update their router firmware to the latest version when encountering connection issues.

  • WRT54G behind another Linksys router

the WRT 54 is donated and we are trying to expand to cover more computers from our original 8 pport Linksys rouoter and add wireless. Plugged the WRT internet into a port from the original router and it shows the IP address as 192.168.1.1xx for each of the additional computers we hook up with ethernet and the wireless IP is also of that sequence for IP addressing. But we cannot get to the Internet. The WRT 54 as a stand alone router works just fine, ethernet and wireless Internet connections. Is there something we need to do to set up the WRT to work behind the other Linksys router.
