Trouble importing analog 8mm video with Premiere Elements 9.

I have some old analog 8mm tapes that i'm using a sony camcorder to import through firewire. When I try to import the entire tape (2hrs) It doesn't automatically add the tape to the organizer or timeline. But it does create the .mov file and I can open and play it in quicktime. Problem is when I try to import it into adobe premiere elements 9. It gives me an error: Too many audio channels in file. When I take shorter clips less than 5min. The clips automatically get imported correctly and no error is given. When I compare the video files both have the same audio info, but the longer video will not import. I'm really confused. any ideas?
Mac 10.6.6

Either something is very wrong on your system or there's something you're not telling us.
You're capturing your video by going to Premiere Elements' Get Media and selecting From DV Camcorder, right?
If so, when you capture your video, it should show up in your project when you click the Project button (under the Organize tab).
Is this not the case?
You keep referring to the Organizer. You should not be using the Organizer to capture your video. You should use Premiere Elements' Get Media/From DV Camcorder. Is this what you're doing?

  • Is it possible to make a cartoon animation video with Premiere Elements ?

Is it possible to insert 16 different images every seconds in a video ? I will like to make an cartoon animation. Is it possible with Premiere Elements ? It look like it is only possible to change a picture/image every 1 seconds.
What software is good to make a small cartoon in size 140 * 140 pixels ?
    Best regards,
    Bo

    Bo,
    Welcome to the forum.
Doing stop-motion animation in PrE is easy, but as PrE is designed for common Video Frame Sizes, that 140 x 140 pixels will be tough. However, if you create your images at a larger size, that matches a common Video Frame Size, say 720 x 480, you can output to smaller size. In general terms, Video is horizontal rectangular.
To do the stop-motion animation in PrE, irrespective of that Frame Size, you would go to Edit>Preferences>General>Still Frame Duration, and there, you can set that Duration from 1 Frame, to almost infinity. Note: unlike some other settings on that General screne, the Still Frame Duration is in Frames.
You might be better off using a program like Photoshop Elements, and outputting to an Animated GIF. There are also many Animated GIF programs available, and many are free.
Adobe Flash would be a great choice, but it's not inexpensive. Same for Adobe After Effects. Both of those are designed to do all sorts of non-standard Video animations. However, for the price of either of those, one could buy dozens of Animated GIF creation programs.
PrE can do similar with Animated GIF (I could not find this in PrE 11, but others found it in previous versions), but due to its design around common Video specs., there will be limitations to overcome.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • How do I burn a dual layer DVD video with Premiere Elements?

I am trying to burn a video from Premiere Elements to a dual layer DVD.   I choose  "DVD" -- and it seems to recognize my disc -- then I "fit to disk" (the video is one hour  -- then I attempt to burn -- and nothing happens.  I have tried it on my internal DVD and on my external BluRay --neither seems to work

    rross43
If you insert a DVD double layer single sided disc in the burner tray, Premiere Elements recognizes that as such with Publish+Share/Disc/DVD disc. If you insert a DVD standard in the burner tray, Premiere Elements recognizes that for what it is.
The only time you see a distinction for double layer vs standard disc is in the burn to folder.
Both DVD disc types use the same max bitrate 8.00 Mbps. But, the DVD standard capacity is 4.38 GB not really 4.7 GB, and the DVD double layer single sided is 7.95 GB not really 8.5 GB. That has to do with the disc capacity labeling and not Premiere Elements.
Good job with the burn to folder. In a time crunch, you can take the VIDEO_TS Folder from the saved folder and take it to DVD-VIDEO on DVD double layer single sided disc using the ImgBurn program.
But, back to burn to disc....the successful burn to folder is pointing to the burner or the disc itself. What brand disc are you using?
What is the mode of failure for your burn to disc....you say nothing happens. Does that mean you hit the burner button and nothing happens?
We could look at deleting the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file or do a program uninstall, free ccleaner run through, reinstall with antivirus and firewall(s) disabled. But, let us review the burner and discs situation first.
    Thanks.

  • Can't Import .avi xvid file with Premiere Elements 11

I just purchased Premiere 11, and it won't import an .avi xvid file. The codec is installed as reported by G-Spot. And the file imports to Win Movie Maker just fine. Any known problems here?
    Thanks

I have used Premiere Elements 11 for a few years and never had any problems with codecs, it ran .avi files fine, but then my hard drive started sending failure eminent warnings so I saved everything I could (for some reason I was never able to save a backup with my old system), I got a new hard drive, loaded a clean new Windows 7 install and built my system from there.
When I got to the Premiere Elements 11 and used it I noticed it came up with the "no codec for .avi" message that I had never seen before and would not play the same .avi movies that I had played with it hundreds of times before.
I was a little baffled so I went back and installed my old Premiere Elements 8 that I used to use and same codec message came up.
I remembered that I had some other video players installed on my old system so I went back and installed the old players one by one.
    1. Cyberlink PowerDVD from the original Dell install didn't fix the codec problem.....
    2. I had the "REAL" player on my old system so I installed it next and it didn't fix the codec problem....(The new "REAL" player live is a little to aggressive for me so I uninstalled it when it didn't fix my problem)
    3. I had Quicktime installed so I installed it again and BINGO, my Premiere Elements 11 now plays .avi files like it used to.
I won't guarantee it will work for everyone but the basic Quicktime player is free so it won't hurt to try it (And it definitely worked for me)

  • How to create professional quality HD Video with Premiere Elements

This is a guide for Premiere Elements 11 that can be adapted to other versions.
Professional video must be at very high bitrates (50-100 Mbps) to minimize quality loss
from compression across multiple generations, with chroma subsampling of at least 4:2:2.
(Many broadcasters will reject video below 50 Mbps.)
The best Computer preset options available in Premiere Elements 11 for professional output:
AVI: Advanced: Video Codec: Uncompressed UYVY 422 8bit
QuickTime: Advanced: Video Codec: Uncompressed YUV 10 bit 4:2:2
QuickTime: Advanced: Video Codec: Uncompressed YUV 8 bit 4:2:2
Best possible quality, but gigantic file size, may well be impractical.
    MPEG: HDTV 1080p High Quality
Use Advanced to set the Video: Profile to 4:2:2; check Render at Maximum Depth; and set Target Bitrate (Mbps) to 50-100. VLC Media Player can be used to play the output file. In general, this is the most practical standard option.
    AVCHD: MP4 - H264 1920x1080p
Unfortunately, only chroma subsampling of 4:2:0 is supported.
A good alternative to these standard options is to install and use the free Avid DNxHD codec, which is widely accepted professionally. Download and install it from here, and then reboot your computer. To use it in Premiere Elements, select Publish+Share: Computer: QuickTime: Advanced.
    In the Video tab:
Set Video Codec to Avid DNxHD Codec.
Click Codec Settings, and set desired Resolution (e.g., 1080p/29.97 DNxHD 36 8-bit).
Set Width and Height to 1920 and 1080 respectively.
    Set Frame Rate as desired.
Field Type should normally be set to Progressive.
Set Aspect to Square Pixels (1.0).
    Check Render at Maximum Depth.
    In the Audio tab:
Set Audio Codec to Apple Lossless.
Click OK, and Save your new preset with a meaningful name.
QuickTime can be used to play the output file.
    Hope that helps!

While consumers are indeed the intended audience of PE, it's nonetheless usable for professional output when you don't need the full capabilities and complexity of PP. I use both, and while I do sometimes need PP, I often find PE suited to the job at hand,
PE does support MPEG-2 4:2:2P@HL. (I just tested it in PE11 to be sure.)
AVCHD, while originally introduced as a format for consumer use, is now widely accepted as a professional format -- Panasonic and Sony both make professional AVCHD camcorders.
Regardless, I prepared this guide especially for those who don't use PP -- even with the easier pricing of CC, PP can be too steep a learning curve for an occasional professional job when PE can get it done.

  • Will FCE 4 Import Analog 8mm Tapes (unlike iMovie '08)

    Hello--
I've had a heck of a time importing my older analog 8mm tapes onto my MacBook and was wondering if dropping bigger bucks on FCE 4 will help.
Since iMovie '08 for some reason won't import analog 8mm tapes from my Sony TRV-330 Digital8 camcorder, I've had to import the tapes using iMovie HD. The problem is then I have to save the iMovie HD project before I can import the video into iMovie '08 where I want to tag and edit it...and this takes a lot of extra time (hours per tape).
On other discussion boards, people have suggested using other video importing applications such as Vidi, iDive, and QuickTime Pro. The first two didn't seem to work out for me, so I just spent $30+ to get QT Pro...that was a mistake because the video and audio quickly got out of synch which was completely unacceptable (some of my older tapes have periodic video and audio dropouts due a problematic camcorder at the time, which I understand can cause that problem...but it didn't seem to be a problem for iMovie HD).
So, since I've read on these FCE discussion threads that FCE uses QuickTime it makes me wonder if I'd have the same video/audio synch problems in FCE (if it even would import analog 8mm video at all).
BOTTOM LINE: Has anyone successfully imported analog 8mm videotapes from a digital camcorder into FCE 4? I'd really like to be able to catalog, tag, and edit ALL my tapes (analog 8mm and Digital8) in iMovie '08 (but am willing to try to do it in FCE 4 if that's a better comprehensive solution). When will Apple fix iMovie '08 to make the lives of those of us who want to transfer old analog 8mm tapes easier??

Thanks for the response, M.R. I didn't know QuickTime was also the import engine for iMovie HD...if that's the case, I don't know why iMovie HD would import my analog 8mm tapes while iMovie '08 doesn't (assuming iMovie '08 also uses QuickTime as the import engine).
I haven't really considered a converter box since the Sony TRV-330 camcorder does the analog to digital conversion...seems like it'd be unnecessary. Do you think there's the possibility that the output from a converter box would look different than the output from my digital camcorder to iMovie '08?

  • With Premiere elements 11, when Publish/Share (saving) a finished video, selecting H.264  .mov file type, what are the recommended Codec and Aspect settings for a crisp video and a small file size?

With Premiere Elements 11, when Publish/Share (saving) a finished video, selecting H.264  .mov file type, what are the recommended Aspect and Codec settings , for a crisp video with a small file size?

    Gary Krouse
We will customize a very detailed reply, but
    (a) What are the properties of your source media?
    (b) What did you or the program set as the project preset to match the properties of the source media?
    (c) What specific requirements do you have for this H.264.mov export file?
File size can be a compromise between bitrate, file size, and quality.
    Thanks.

  • Premiere 6.5 files compatible with Premiere Element 9 ??

    Hi all,
I think to change my old MAC Powerbook G4 (laptop) for an Imac intel core duo 21.5 inches.
But before to change it I have a very important question about Adobe PRemiere 6.5 and Adobe Premiere Element 9
What about my files/project created with Premiere 6.5 if I want to open  them with Adobe Premiere Element 9 ?
Is it possible ? IS there any trouble bewteen these software ? does PRemiere Element 9 support okds projects created with PRemiere 6.5 ?
It's very important for me because I have to finish (editing, effect, etc...) some short movies I started to edit with Premiere 6.5
    Thanks in advance
    Regards,
    A.

Sorry, A, but these files are not even remotely compatible.
Premiere 6.5 is a ten-year-old piece of software that was completely overhauled to created Premiere Pro. So the project files definitely won't open in Premiere Elements.
However, if you've output DV-AVIs from Premiere 6.5, you may well be able to use those as source video in Premiere Elements 9.

  • No sound after I export a video in premiere elements 12

Alright I am doing a walkthrough on a video game so I am deleting audio out of my clips and adding in narration. While I can hear and see my narration just fine in one of my videos, when I export it I hear no narration or sound at all.
I have tried adding more narration tracks that didn't work.
I have tried rendering it in different format files didn't work.
And I have even uninstalled and reinstalled premiere elements 12 and it still glitches on that one video
    Anybody have any ideas.

    tommy_lop
There is a known issue with Premiere Elements 12/12.1 in which addition of narration using the project's Narration Tool results in a loss of sound for audio on
numbered audio tracks and Soundtrack. Llamadude came up with a solution which is described in the following link
    http://atr935.blogspot.com/2014/06/pe12-audio-losses-after-narration.html
Please review the solution and let us know if it works for you.
Another possibility...are you working with video audio that was recorded with a variable frame rate. If so, that might be a factor. In those instances, the problems range from audio out of sync to not being able to import the video audio file at all. The typical fix is to take the file into the free HandBrake to convert from variable to constant frame rate - result H.264.mp4 file with constant frame rate for import into the Premiere Elements project.
    https://handbrake.fr/
Please review and consider and then let us know if any of those considerations worked for you.
Also, what are the complete properties of the source media coming from these games recording?
    Thank you.

  • Problem importing some .MOV files into Premiere Elements 11

    Hello,
I am trying to import film footage into Premiere Elements 11 and am coming across a rather confusing problem. All of the footage is in .mov format and all of it was taken on the same device on the same day with the same settings.
When I try to import the footage, some files import ok, others will not import at all and I get a message saying 'The importer reported a generic error'. It seems very odd to me that some .MOV files are OK and others are not.
This same footage can easily be imported into Premiere Elements 10 and into Windows Movie Maker - which makes me think the issue is with Premiere Elements 11.
Does anyone have any ideas on this?
    Thanks

What model of camcorder is your video coming from and what format and resolution is it? Did you use Premiere Elements to get the video from the camcorder to your computer?
Have you ensured you have the latest version of Quicktime installed on your computer?

  • Burning dvd with premiere elements 11

I burn video files on to dvds.  I always key NTSC widescreen.  Sometimes, the image fills the tv screen.  Most of the time however, there is a 2" wide black border around the image, between the image and the edge of the tv screen.  How do I get the image to fill the tv screen?

Thank you for responding to my problem.  I'm afraid the reading didn't help.  All of my 20 files were created with the same camera, the same project settings, the same equipment, etc.  But when I burned each of them to their own dvd disc, a few of the programs filled the frame on the tv down the hall.  Most however, have a 2" black border around the image.  It makes no sense to me.

  • Proxy Editing with Premiere Elements 10

I just read the great post on how to proxy edit with version 7 at http://forums.adobe.com/thread/390600?tstart=0, but I cannot find a way to save a preset with Premiere Elements 10 so I could then modify it to display previews in low-res and output in full HD. The online help from the program mentions "creating" presets, but then only describes how to slelect existing presets. Can anyone tell me how to make a new project preset, or better yet, if there is a built-in way to proxy edit with 10? Thanks!

    jjenkinsnm
For reasons that I have not figured out, your last message arrived as an email notification of an Adobe post, but it is not posted in your thread yet. In that post you wrote:
The properties for the clips shows:
    Type: MPEG Movie
    Image Size: 1920x1080
    Frame Rate: 23.976
The Interpret Footage settings show under Frame Rate the radio button for Use frame rate from file: 23.9750 is selected, and under Pixel Aspect Ratio the radio button for use pixel aspect ration from file is selected.
I never received a message to change the project preset.
As a test, I imported a clip that was shot at 1920x1080 30fps and added it to the timeline. I did not receive an error message, but this clip also has a red line above it on the timeline (as do the 24 fps clips).
Thanks for the help AT and SG.
Based on the information supplied, I cannot see a reason why your video should be displaying with a red line over its content
    IF
    a. Your project preset = NTSC DLSR 1080p DLSR 1080p30 @ 23.97
    b. You are dragging the import (1080p @ 23.7 progressive frames per second) from Media to Timeline as the first video to be placed on that Timeline
Please review these criteria and let us know if you spot anything that you have as not consistent with a and b.
Keep in mind, when you bring in a file that is 1080p30 into this project set for 1080p24, you would expect to get a red line over the 1080p30 content since there is a mismatch between file and the project settings.
Another important matter that I am not clear on...is your problem only in previewing? Or does the problem go to previewing as well as exported product?
    Thanks.

  • The audio of Nvidia Shadowplay records is asynchronus to the video in Premiere Elements 12! How can I fix it?

    Hello,
today I bought Premiere Elements 12. I want to edit records and export them with Premiere Elements 12. I recognized that the audio is extremely asynchronus to the video. I can't work with that.
I read that Shadowplay records with 59,34 FPS or so...maybe that is the problem?
    Regards
    David G.

    Wectonic
What computer operating system is your Premiere Elements 12 running on? Have you updated 12 to the 12.1 Update using an opened project's Help Menu/Update? If not, please do so.
From what I have read about the ShadowPlay recorder, you are probably outputting from it 1080p video with H.264 video compression. What is the file extension?
Your report of a frame rate of 59.34 frames per second for your video suggests that the recorder is recording with a variable frame rate. Premiere Elements has problems with a variable frame rate - problems could be out of sync audio to not being able to import the file at all.
As a troubleshooting aid at this point, please import your problem video into HandBrake   https://handbrake.fr/  and export it as a H.264.mp4 file with a constant frame rate of
59.94 frames per second. It is quick and easy. If you have any problems doing that, I will post a step by step HandBrake how to for the task. Then import this HandBrake converted file into Premiere Elements project and determine if problem is gone.
    Mini Preview
Also, please let us know the bitrate settings for ShadowPlay for both video and audio. How much of the ShadowPlay recording can be user customized.
Let us start here and then decide what next.

  • Problem capturing video white premiere elements 8

I have download premiere elements 8 trail ver.and I have the black magic's intensity pro capture and editing card.
While I tray to capture video  the premiere dose not give me the option to capture directly from the card.
It  is possible to capture using black magic's software and import the fail bake to premiere.
Is there an easy way to do so. Is it possible to capture video using premiere elements 8?

    >using black magic's software and import
If you are able to create a standard DV AVI type 2 file with 16bit 48khz sound, that will import (this is for SD video)
For HD video, if that is what you are using, you will need to report back what CODEC is used with that card

In this thread I have no interests but to supply reliable information to you. What I have written stands as is. And, my answer to your questions will continue to be honest and for your consideration. Any questions or need clarification, please do not hesitate to ask me.
As for AVCHD.mts and AVCHD.mp4 in camera whose specifications offer the choice of AVCHD or .MP4.....both have been reported to use a form of AVCHD video compression with different wrapper formats (.mts and .mp4). Again, I did not post to go further into that. Please refer to the following link's post dated February 12, 2014 as one discussion of the matter.
    FCP.co Forum :: Topic: AVCHD vs. MP4 ? (1/2)
I did not discover that AVCHD.mts does not play back the audio portion of an AVCHD.mts file when played back in the Elements Organizer 13 player. That has been the reality of Premiere Elements 13/Elements Organizer 13 users who found this out by themselves later than sooner. And, I confirm their results in those cases. There is no fix for this at the present time, and that is a user to user honest non marketing report. If this Elements Organizer issue is not an important concern for you, then this is a non issue for you.
    Best wishes with your projects.
