Trouble importing Axis packages

Question

Hi,
I am trying to deploy a test web services implementation on JBoss 3.2.1 and Axis 1.1RC2. The problem is, I cannot even compile my client code (the one that invoke the web services)...it seems that the java compiler cannot locate the following packages:
import org.apache.axis.client.Call;
import org.apache.axis.client.Service;
import javax.xml.namespace.QName;
even though I have set my classpath (in the environment var part of my Win2k box) to: C:\axis-1_1RC2\lib\axis.jar;C:\axis-1_1RC2\lib\jaxrpc.jar;C:\axis-1_1RC2\lib\saaj.jar;C:\axis-1_1RC2\lib\commons-logging.jar;C:\axis-1_1RC2\lib\commons-discovery.jar;C:\axis-1_1RC2\lib\wsdl4j.jar;C:\axis-1_1RC2\lib\;C:\axis-1_1RC2\[rest of classpath truncated]
Has anyone experienced something similar? I'll award Duke dollars to the first person getting the right solution. Thanks!

I've been fighting the same problem for the last couple of days, and here is what I found, using (amongst other things) JBoss 3.2.1 and Apache Axis 1.1:
JBoss dynamically creates its own classpath at runtime. As far as I can tell, it finds jars in ./WEB-INF/lib directories and in the ./server/<name>/deploy/lib, although not in the same manner. Everything for the front-end webapps had to be in the WEB-INF to be accessible, especially those things needed to compile a .jws.
I've organized my webapps in expanded WAR directories under JBoss. For example:
./jboss-3.2.1/server/default/deploy/soap.war
In order for Axis to see the necessary libraries, I had to add them to the WEB-INF/lib directory for the WAR. For example:
./jboss-3.2.1/server/default/deploy/soap.war/WEB-INF/lib/axis.jar
What I've done is organized any java files I want to deploy as webapps into a ./src/soap tree in my project. I then use ant to deploy those files to my soap.war directory at build time, renaming them to *.jws.
This allows me to compile and test my .java files normally, and deploy them normally with the rest of my app.
