Trouble importing FLV into flash - keep gettingan error
Hello all, I'm hopping that someone else has had this problem
before. I'm a long time user of Flash but have just downloaded the
the newest version (CS3) to try it out. I was really looking
forward to the video capabilities. ANYWAY, I'm on a new IMac,
running OSX version 10.4.11. I downloaded and installed the newest
version of flash. I created an FLV with some video that I had and
I'm attempting to import it into a flash file. I get through all of
the steps and it appears to be importing but then I get this error.
"Error opening file; Library/Application Support/Adobe
FlashCS3/en/Configuration//JavaScript/DeployVideo.jsfl" I went to
this location on my computer and the "Adobe FlashCS3" folder isn't
even there. It's like it wasn't even installed. I've re-installed
the software twice. Anyone know what the deal is. Thanks in
advance.

how do you convert it to a prores file in compressor. I cant figure out that program at all.
If you have a movie file that you wish to compress, launch Compressor.
Once Compressor is open, go to the upper left-hand corner of the project window and select Add File.
It will open up a window in which you can browse all available storage spaces.
Select a file. Once you have done so, then assign a conversion setting from available ones and a destination for the encoded files
Hit submit.

Importing mp4 into Flash 8, converting to FLV
I just finished taking a Flash Video class where I understood
I could import an MP4 and convert in to an FLV using encoding tools
that come with Flash Professional 8. However, I opened a new FLA
just now and tried to import an MP4 (File -> Import Video),
Flash would not recognize the sample MP4 I have sitting on my
desktop.
I downloaded a demo copy of On2 FlixPro and it did recognize
the MP4, is converting it to an FLV as I write this.
Did I misunderstand about importing MP4s into Flash 8
Professional? Is it in fact not possible. Or might there have been
something I didn't do or didn't do correctly before importing? If
so, what might it have been?
Thanks in advance.chris_whalen,

The MP4 file extension does not appear in the filetype
filter of the
Import dialog, but if you select "All Files (*.*)," that
should work. I've
imported MP4s (they're MPGs, after all), but the extension
doesn't appear
under the "All Video Formats" choice. (I'm hoping this is
what you mean by
"would not recognize," anyway.)

Is there ever a time you would want/need to import a FLV into
Flash over
some other video format?
Thanks.I think this may be a compatibility issue... try exporting
the video as an AVI file. -
Couldnt Import .MP3 into Flash CC
I am exporting a .MP3 from Adobe Audition CC
Then Importing it into Flash CC
I receive the error message Couldnt Import .MP3
This procedure has worked in the past but now does not work. If you know what may be the issue please let me know
ThanksThere was an older issue with Flash CS6 where any MP3 with a bitrate over 192kbit could not be imported unless both QuickTime and iTunes were installed to the latest version (on Windows). Do you also have iTunes installed and updated?
I don't think anyone got to the bottom of why iTunes was needed but many people couldn't import MP3 with the same error until they did. You might want to try that.
The only MP3 workaround was to import directly to library instead of stage and play it in a timeline layer, but some could only hear it during published playback (no preview).
Of course an alternate workaround is to simply use a different format. There's still something going on with MP3, which is a bit surprising considering how common it is. I would recommend trying WAV or AIFF as a workaround for now if iTunes/QuickTime updating doesn't fix it. -

Does anyone have any knowledge of importing movies into
flash?
I have a movie streaming in my flash file but when some
people open the exe they only see black when the movie should be
showing. And some others can see the movie. Any thoughts?you can import them as an image sequence, then create a movie
clip out of it. File-->import-->import to stage.. Then select
all the images, and it something should pop up asking if you are
trying to create an image sequence, select yes. -
I am importing images into Flash only to discover that the images (1280 x 720) are not centered on the stage. Most of the time the images are off centre by a few pixel widths or in some cases by an inch or more. I can't get them to centre unless I clear the stage and import a few times.
Is there a way to import and have the images framed perfectly within the stage.
I'm currently using Flash CS5.5
Thank you.You can also click the two blue boxes icon under the Timeline and then drag select the whole timeline and that will let you select all your frames at once. then just position them all where you want them at the same time. I attached a screen cap of the area I'm talking about. It's right after the two white boxes.

Importing video into Flash MX2004
Hi
I've not worked with video before, but now have a requirement
to use a video clip in a Flash movie. I have found a royalty free
movie clip which is perfect, but would need to work over the top of
this file to add some bits to the movie.
My question is this, if I purchase the movie and import it
into Flash, does it come in frame-for-frame on the timeline so that
I can add layers and work over the top of it? I know that video
tends to create large files - once it's in Flash and published as a
swf file, presumably it should be more manageable?
Many thanks for any help.HamptonCaught wrote:

It won't be frame by frame, it will be its own format
stretching across timeline
to covert the length of its frames.

Trouble Importing Frames into AC CS4 9.02.42
Good afternoon,
I am having trouble importing the frames for a project into AE CS4, and it seems to be an issue with After Effects remembering a previous attempt and importing these files.
The first time I tried ti import this project, I hadn't realized that the initially copy of the data from the external drive to my project drive ( internal SATA 1 TB drive) had gotten corrupted becuase Soundbooth had locked up and I had to hard shut down the system while the copy was processing ( lesson learned, never try and start editing Audio on a project while the video frames are still copying to the drive) and AE opened all the files on the drive and then generated an error because the last frames were corrupt. I deleted the folder on the project drive and recopied the project over from the external drive and let it finish before I tried anything on the system. I have verified all the frames are intact now on the project drive, I have used Purge All on AE, but when ever I try to import the files into AE, it still stops at frame 32767 and doesnt load the rest of the video. I need to be able to load all 53813 frames so I can work on this project. I even renamed the prefix on the files and attempted to load them again, and still it stops at frame 32767.
Is there a way I am missing to completely purge any history lists, temp files, etc, with Adobe Premiere CS4 and AfterEffects CS4 ?
I can import a 79 GB uncompressed AVI just fine no issues, so I know it is not a system resources problem, I am on Vista 64 with 8 gb of RAM and loads of free hard drive space.
Does anyone have anyideas how to resolve this and what I can do to fix AE so it will import this entire project? I still have to import the second have of the project too which is another half hour worth of frames.
Thank you,
JeffI wonder if the 64 bit version of AfterEffects CS5 will remove that limitation?
Why should it? You are confusing things here (no offense). This has nothing to do with how much memory AE can handle or any of that, it's good old 16bit integer code that handles the numbering calculations. This is certainly an issue just as deep as the memory handling itself and bound to cause a ton of compatibility problems with older versions, so any change on that end will have to be weighed carefully before changing it. I wouldn't keep my hopes up for any soon-ish action on that end, as certainly it is not the highest priority for 99% of users that only ever handle short sequences...

Importing movie to Flash 8 and error message appears
I have tried to import a movie into Flash 8 and the message appears "The operation could not be completed as an error has occurred". It will not pu the movie on to the stage. Do you think there is something wrong with the movie file or am I missing a step? This is what I do:
1) open a new flash file
2) file - import video
3) browse to find the movie file and then click next
4) Click the option 'progressive download from a web server'
5) I dont change any of the default settings and I don't want a skin on it
6) It runs through like it is making the file and then the message appears "The operation could not be completed as an error has occurred".
Any ideas what I am doing wrong??
Thanks,
RachelNow that I have restored my pc to the time before installing Autodesk, the
import facility now works again.
If you have installed programs that you do not really need, the best thing
to do is either uninstal them, or restore your computer through the control
panel. If you do need them you could try using another flash encoding
program, encode it through that and then open the file in your flash
program.
There is also a program called "Super" that enables flash encoding. It
sounds good, and I am going to check it out as it is a freeware.
If it works well I may use it to encode the video into flash:-
If interested, here is the link
http://www.erightsoft.com/SUPER.html
I too have very little knowledge in computers, but I like the creative side
of using flash.
Hope this helps a little.
Let me know how you get on. -
I brought this up durring the pre-release but still can't seem to get any resolution to the fact that perfectly valid flv files that play just fine accross multiple other software, give a "file haas nsupported compression type" error when trying to import into Premiere. I have recieved this with other formats in the past that required me to install additional codecs, but I would think flv being native to Adobe should import. In CS5 I had similar issues but used to be able to import them into AE and then bring the AE sequence into PP as a work around, but can't seem to make that work in CS6. I noticed in searching the forum that this was an issue for many in older versions, but didn't see any recent ones or any real solution. Any insight would be appreciated!
FLV support is only partial, as there are several "flavors" of FLV. My memory is cloudy, but IIRC, FLV's with Sorenson Spark will not Import, where others with CODEC's, such as On2 VP6, etc. will. FLV is but a container, like .AVI, but with far fewer possibilities.
For the FLV's, that do not Import, which CODEC was used?
Good luck,

I have a PSD file with layers that I am trying to import into Flash. The problem that I am having is that the text effects that I have applied in Photoshop are not transferring into Flash. All I get is the Font, Font size, and color. But I used Drop Shadow on some of the and some other effects as well. None of these are transferring over to Flash. Do I have to save them in a certain way i n Photoshop in order to effect the transfer. I want to be clear. I am not trying to import text effects as separate layers or anything complicated. I just want the text to look like it does in photoshop. Can anyone give me a suggestion?
Thanks!
NenaIt doesn't matter which one you use to create graphics and assets. Photoshop is regarded as the standard from creating web graphics, ther e is just so much more you can do. I prefer Fireworls when creating slices, and Pnotoshop for optimizing images for export. Keep in mind that a Fireworks PNG is basically the same as a PSD file, with layers, etc. But either one can export as a web png, transparent background. When you import one of these into flash, just choose to import as a single bitmap.

Importing PNG into Flash = Color loss
Is anyone out there having this problem: When importing png
files into flash there is a subtle but significant color loss.
Particularly in images that contain alot of Black. It's as if Flash
is using a different color space to Photoshop even though color
management is off in the original photoshop document. When the
PNG's are imported into flash they are always washed out and much
lighter than the original. This is more obvious when importing
images which contain alot of Black. I've been experiencing this
problem for years now and it is sooooo frustrating infact I'm
trying despeatly hard to keep this message calm. Is anyone out
there having the same issue? Im using Mac OSX 10.4 Photoshop CS and
Flash 8?PNG's are badly designed and often suffer from color
problems. You may need
to use a different color space in photoshop that is
compatible with Flash.
It's not a Flash problem .. and not really even a Photoshop
problem. . its a
problem in PNG's themselves.
See here for an interesting article about why PNG files are
stuffed...

Importing Video into Flash Project ?
Hi, I want to ask you about how can I import video into my Flash Project and make it possible to view ?
I tried to choose embed FLV but the sound quality is quite shity and the video quality too. Furthermore, It expands the timeline which is too long because my video is quite long too. It said that it can be at least 16000 Frames to run.
Now I choose Import -> Import Video -> Load External ..... and then I put it on one scene. The thing is that when I test it, it looks like I have to expands the timeline too so that I can play the videos fully. And It will slow down the computer so much when I want to export. Is there any way I can play the video only by just creating one keyframe ?
Please help me.i choose Load -> External and it gives me some FLVPlayback in the library too ... But how I can make it relate to the previous scene and it can play the whole video and then back to the first scene...
First scene is where people can choose some option that I made of ...
A is where I link to the scene 3 of my project
B comes to Scene 4
C comes to Scene 5
What I'm stucking right now is how can I made the C choice for people to choose and they can see the videos. I tried to drag the FLVPlayback to the scene 6 and it shows some result. But I think if I want to watch the whole video I need to expand the timeline as much as possible and I really don't want that. Is there any actionscript code or some tips that I can make it possible? Sorry because I'm a newbie so I don't understand your words. Can you explain it more ? -
Need to import .swf into Flash 8 project
I'm working on a project that requires me to use an already
made .swf file in it. I'm creating the whole project (which is a
presentation) strictly in Flash 8. This project requires a user to
be able to navigate through various menus and categories to see
what's in them. Most of the categories have a slide-show of images
that are accompanied by a voice over sound track that explains to
them what they're watching; however, for other categories I already
have a previously created .swf file that I need to import into
Flash 8. The issue that I've noticed when I just import the .swf
file into Flash is that the file plays at about 100x the original
speed. I think that it is because Flash looks at this file as one
frame and tried to play everything all at once. I also looked into
the possibility of trying to the loadMovie() function, but that is
not that convenient for me because this requires me to decompile
the .swf file into .fla and edit it so that a user has a way of
coming back to the main menu of the presentation from that movie,
unless there is a function parameter of loadMovie() similar to
HTML's "_blank" where a new window opens so that the user can close
this window without having to worry about restarting the
presentation. I hope that what I'm doing is clear, and I'm very
much open to any suggestions about what I should do about it or any
other ways of doing what I'm trying to achieve, which is to be able
to play already-made .swf files in my Flash project. To give more
details on these .swf files, they were originally created in Adobe
Captivate and exported into .swf. They play perfectly when you play
them, but it's just that there is an issue when I try to play them
from my Flash project. Thank you in advance for your help.Hi Braulio
a good tutorial site can be found at
http://www.kirupa.com
and also, look in your Flash Docs, for loadClip() and
loavMovie() methods. They should get you started on some ideas to
import external content.
