Trouble importing from content copier

Upgraded my firmware on my n95 8gb to newest version (31.0.015 / 31.0.017). Used newest pc suite to make a copy of the content (7.1). When i try to import the backed up data, only "user files from phony memory" is listed as data from the .nbu file. I've checked the content of the file in a text editor, and it contains all phone data (phonebook, calendar, notes++) - but none of these is noticed by the content copier.. Only games and sounds are uploaded to the phone.. I need my contacts, calender++ ! help
(I've also tried pc suite 7.0 - on two different computers without any luck)

You shall definitely follow what al_lea suggested. Use Noki to check the file and extract the Contacts and the Calendar entries. Then you could simply drag and drop them in Communication Center in PC Suite or send them to the phone (then open them).
al_lea all my regards for the GREAT work that you're doing!!!

  • Trouble importing from Canon HG10

I have a Canon HG10 camera (HDD, AVCHD). I'm having trouble importing to iMovie '09 (8.0.6).
Initially the camera was not being detected by iMovie at all (it did mount on the desktop). Searching the forums (here and elsewhere) it seemed that this was a common problem with the HG10, and that the solution was often to initialize the camera's HD (through the camera's own menus). Unfortunately this wipes out all the movies already on the camera, and I had several hours of critical footage on the camera. I decided to try it anyway, making a copy of the HD's entire contents to my machine before initializing.
Initializing did fix the problem. I recorded a short clip on the newly blank camera, and upon connecting to my machine iMovie detected it immediately and I was able to import.
My dilemma now is that I need to somehow import the several hours of footage that I had copied to my machine before initializing the camera. In one forum it was suggested that I could use the "Import Camera Archive..." option in iMovie, and point it to the backup copy of the camera's contents that I had made. When I do this I get the message "Folder is Not a Camera Archive".
I tried copying the old contents of the HD back onto the newly initialized camera to see if it would be detected. No luck — camera reverts to not being detected and must be initialized again.
Suspecting that the auxiliary files in the camera's folder structure might be the issue, I tried selectively copying files from the backup copy over to the camera's folder structure (e.g. just the MTS files). This didn't work (surprise surprise).
I see in other forums that it's possible to get raw MTS files into iMovie, but since I have all the files in the original camera structure it seems there should be an easier way.

    Hello jam27
Had the same situation once with the same Camera
I used Handbrake http://handbrake.fr/downloads.php to convert to mp4 H.264 Codex Large file size
Import this into iMovie it takes time but at least you can recover this .
I kept still the original MTS files just in case as backup Cheers Herb

  • Trouble importing from canon t4i into imove

So I have a canon t4i and I've been having trouble importing my videos from my memory card to imovie, and iphoto wont even let me upload it. I tried converting it to AVI (which took a few hours) and It's still not doing anything. I don't know what to do and it's really frustrating.

  • Retrieving messages from content copier file?

    Hi all,
I backed up my N95 using Content Copier but when retoring all the info it keeps saying that errors occurred.
Most things restored or could be worked around (e.g. contacts from Outlook sync) but it won't restore my text messages to my phone.
Anyone any ideas how I might be able to get these from the file?
    Many thanks

try noki in this thread to extract and explore the backup file of type .nbu/.nfb/.nfc/.nbu.

  • Trouble importing from CF

I have a Canon Digital Rebel with a 2GB CF card I download thru a USB CF reader to my Dell D820 (2GB memory). Invariably, when my CF is almost full and I try to import the pics into LR (V1.0 308266), only half the pics get imported. If I re-insert the CF and initiate a new download, it will download the rest. Interestingly, in the upper-left-hand corner, I see 2 progress bars... One never seems to complete.
Why? How can I tell if all my pictures have been downloaded? I usually put the CF back into the camera and reformat. I wonder how many pictures I've lost... assuming the download into LR was downloading *all* my pictures.
    Thanks,
    -Ed

At the current time it's advisable to copy the images to the hard drive first and then import into LR from there. Direct import from a camera or card reader is known to be buggy in some cases (certain cameras including Canon and certain OS, namely Mac OS and Vista).

  • Trouble importing from cd

I've been having trouble importing music into iTunes from a CD. Many times it will START the importing process and then freeze up (it continues to look like it's working but will be stuck in one spot for 5 or 10 minutes or longer. I end up having to force quit and starting over sometimes 2 or 3 times before it copies all of the songs. I've had the problem with old CDs but now it's doing it with brand new, out of the package CDs. I've never had this problem before and don't know if it's iTunes or the Mac Mini I'm working on. Anyone have any ideas about trouble-shooting? It's very frustrating and my PC friends are making fun of me .
    Thanks!

    Hi--
My Mini came with 10.4.3, but my other Macs have
10.3.8. (I wasn't able to upgrade the other
computers with the OSX discs that came in my Mini.)
Right, that's because the discs that come with the Mini won't have the necessary components to work with the other Macs. So it's either not going to work, period, or if it does, you risk an incomplete installation.
    I
have never had trouble with my iBook importing and
never had trouble with my iMac which used a Lacie
    external CD burner.
If you still have the external CD burner, try connecting that to your Mini and see what happens. If it works, then it's more likely the drive on the Mini. If it's the same, then probably a problem with iTunes' preferences somewhere.
Also, you could create a new user on the Mini. Try importing CDs with this new user. Again, if the imports work, then the drive is fine. But if they stall, too, then it might be time to have the drive looked at.
This is what I found for yesterday (the
day I was last importing CD's) in my Console.log.
But I don't know what it means or if it's related to
    iTunes application.
None of that stuff in the log has anything to do with iTunes. The mdimportserver is just an informational message from Spotlight telling you that it wasn't able to decode some data in a file, so it would treat it as if it were binary data instead of text.
The DirectoryService NetInfo listings can be gotten rid of, I believe, by turning off "NetInfo" in the Directory Access program in your Utilities folder. That's according to a post a short way down this page.
The other errors from Dashboard are just garden variety notifications. I was thinking that perhaps you were getting Disk I/O errors in your console log, or SAM multimedia sense errors. Those can be caused by either bad drives or bad CDs.

  • Trouble importing from Canon Elura 80

I´ve been having trouble when importing from my camcorder, a canon elura 80, iMovie recognizes it and controls it with no problem, but it doesn´t cut the clips automatically. At first, I didn´t care, I´m used to trimming video, and I can even say that I enjoy it. The problem with this comes when I want to apply themes to the movie: If I place the manually trimmed clip in the drop zone, it doesn´t take the trimming into account, it just plays the beggining of the untrimmed clip, so I end up with the same clip repeated over and over.
    What I´ve done:
    - I checked the importing preferences, and the "start a new clip at each scene break" is checked.
    - I trimmed using "split video clip at Playhead"
    - I also tried "crop" for editing
It´s frustrating not being able to use one of the coolest feature of this program, please help!!! thanks in advance

  • Trouble importing from p3 after office install

Has anyone else had trouble importing photos from digital camera after installing Office for Mac 2011? Now iPhoto won't recognize my files, and what came up in the import folder were about 160 icky clip art icons, which I quickly deleted.  If there's a fix (other than uninstalling software), please advise.

Terence, hi.  I'm doing what I had done previously (successfully), plugging in my Nikon digital camera via the USB port and turning on the camera.  I checked preferences and it's set to connect the camera in iPhoto.

  • Trouble importing from Photoshop CS2

I'm have trouble importing my photoshop files to iphoto, the pictures come in black, and when I open them they are inverted?
    Any help out there?

What color space are the pics? iPhoto supports RGB, if they are another - such as CMYK or GrayScale this will cause problems.

  • Trouble Importing From a CD

I am trying to import songs that I previously burned on a CD-RW in mp3 format. When I put the CD in my computer, all the songs come up automatically in my library. I can play them as long as I have the CD in. However when I take the CD out it keeps the song titles, but says that it cannot find the original source for the file, so it can't play or edit the info for the songs. I do not see any buttons in my iTunes window that say 'import'. I have tried going under the file menu and doing it that way, but I can only select one file at a time, and it doesn't work anyway. I transferred all of the songs to my hard drive first, and then used the 'add folder to library' tool. Now I have every song from that CD twice, but only one of them plays. I know there is an option to show duplicates, but how do I erase only the ones with the bad links, and not the ones that actually did import? Also why can't I see the import button and why doesn't it import when I use the 'import file' tool from the file menu. I selected to import automatically when I insert a CD, but obviously that didn't work either. I have uninstalled and re-installed iTunes twice, once from a disk and updated it, and once from Apple's website. Thanks for any help, and sorry this post was so long.

    Leland,
That is very strange. You should be able to import from a disk made in iPhoto6, and even iPhoto5. See this post: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=5162610&#5162610
You might try deleting iPhoto's preference file. With iPhoto closed, go to YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.iPhoto.plist
Drag the plist file to the trash. Reopen iPhoto. Reinsert the CD.

  • Trouble importing from entourage

I imported from Entourage into iCal, and my times down the side of iCal are incorrect. The events are the correct time (and in the correct time zone,) but it doesn't line up with the times down the left. Help, please???

You may be able to fix the files by putting their Type and Creator codes back where they're supposed to be. Place the "Office 200x Identities" folder of your backed up Entourage data in its normal location in your user account.
Download this nice little (and free!) Type and Creator code utility. Quick Change.
Type and Creator codes have two fixed rules. They must be four characters long. They are case sensitive. Launch Quick Change. First drag and drop the "Newsgroup Cache" file onto its interface. It will likely show nothing for the codes. For this file, they are:
    Type: Ncch
    Creator: OPIM
    Click the save button.
Open the "Main Identity" folder. For all four files, the Creator is OPIM. The Type code for each is as follows:
    Database: OEDB
    Mailing Lists: List
    Rules: RULE
    Signatures: Sigs
After fixing each file's codes, see if Entourage now recognizes them.

  • Trouble importing from Hard Drive

So I downloaded my mini DV camcorder tape to my hard drive thinking that I would edit and make a movie later. I think I should have originally archived from my camcorder to my hard drive. I am now having difficulty importing from my hard drive as all my clips have been separated by days. What is the best way to import from my hard drive to iMovie so that it will create thumbnails, etc? I hope this makes sense.

You should be able to open iMovie with the hard drive attached, and you should be good to go. The thumbnails would have been generated when you imported the DV to your hard drive (assuming you used iMovie for the import).
iMovie will automatically split clips into days much like iPhoto creates Events. You can rename these in imovie so they have a meaningful name to you. You can all merge events if necessary, for example if a whole weekend is all the same thing, you could merge it into a single event rather than three separate days. You do this by dragging and dropping within iMovie.

  • Trouble importing from camera

I have been merrily importing photos from my relatively new Panasonic Lumix FX50 for a few months now. This weekend tried to import 101 photos from camera to iphot 5 and hit a wall. iphoto seems to read the contents of the chip and begin importing, but I never get the slide show showing the photos coming into the library. The wheel by the camera in the source pane spins, but even after 10 minutes no pictures are imported. I can stop the import and get out in a normal way, but no photos have been added to the library. I tried also on my laptop and husband's laptop and same thing exactly. This leads me to think it is a camera problem. I also noted that in the info pane it says there are 100 photos and 2 movies, however I looked and there are no movies.* Wonder why iphoto thinks they are there. Anyone with any clues out there? Thanks, Candace
    * Come to think of it, in the fall I took a couple of movies and iphoto just could not import them. Too big? Computer memory full? Still, why does it think there are movies in the camera now?

    Candace:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Open Image Capture and manually upload all of the files from the camera to a folder on the desktop. Check to see if there are any .mov files in the folder. When the upload is complete disconnect the camera and reformat the memory card using the camera.
Import that folder into iPhoto while selecting not to import duplicates. That will only import those photos that didn't get imported when you tried earlier.
Make it a point to reformat the memory card with the camera after each import. That will start the next shoot with a clean card and no left over files/folders or directory indexes.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Trouble importing from Panasonic HDC-SD5

When I connect my Panasonic HDC-SD5 AVCHD camcorder to my computer using a usb cable, a disk drive mounts, but no camera is seen by iMovie. The files on the disk drive cannot be imported either. Does anyone know how to import video from a Panasonic HDC-SD5 camera into iMovie?

USA Consumer products for Panasonic camcorders (non-professional series) only have one camcorder type that use the IEEE/Ilink/DV/Firewire connection (pick your poision on what you want to call it Panny calls it DV).
The models with the prefix PVDV/PVDC/PVGS are the models that use DVC tape and they will have a DV connection. Only the higher end of these model types will allow you to transfer video over a USB connection and those actually started in the PVGS line about 3 years ago.
Outside of that, Panny makes camcorders that record to DVD, SD and SD/HDD media. All of these models (whether high-def or standard) use USB to connection for a personal computer and they are not treated as capture devices but more like removable drives. These camcorders are not compatible with a USB to DV conversion cable so do not waste your money.
That is all I have for now. Please copy and repost this where it is needed.
