Trouble Importing MP4 and M4V files

Hi, I am creating iMovies and importing them into YouTube as MP4 and M4v files. All was fine until a week ago, and now all MP4 & M4V files are failing to load in YouTube. I have had no luck on the YouTube discussion forum. Has anyone had this problem and offer a solution? I have tried the multi-loader to no avail. My videos are all to spec with YouTube ie less that 10 min and under 1 GB. Thanks for your help.

Anyone seen this error before? I went ahead and recereated
what I could in Flash but I have some other wmv and mov files that
I would like to import, but right now I keep getting the error.
Any help would be much appreciated. thanks!

  • Media Encoder CS4 issues with MP4 and M4V files

I've just got CS4 and and very happy so far. EXCEPT I'm
trying to convert some MP4 and M4V videos to FLV using the new
    Adobe Media encoder.
When I look at preview screen in the settings panel, the
preview is all wrong. It is just Green and Purple - kind of like
some weird negative image. This also is how the final converted FLV
looks. The CS3 version of Flash video encoder converted these exact
same files OK (although the preview was only a blank screen, but
    the final file was OK).
Has anyone else seen this and more importantly, did you
    manage to solve the issue?
I'm running this on an iMac G5 with 2GB RAM - could this be a
    PPC issue?

Sorry my computer AND media encover version. I run Creative Cloud on a new Mac Pro

    hi,
*Thank you for you response. *
*I found where to set the bit rate and it solved the problem. (the default
    was very high...)*
Now it takes same space and the quality is the same as the original.
    Thank you!

  • Is there any difference in quality between mp4 and m4v?

Is there any difference in quality between mp4 and m4v? I am figuring out how best to save old VCR files. Is the 264 category the best?

So, what would that software be? Anything that I mentioned, e.g., iMovie? Any Video Converter?
I'm a Mac user so I want files that play "natively" in QT X, QT 7, QL, iPod Touch, iPhone, iPad, and/or TV players. This means I want the H.264/AAC compressed data in MOV, MP4, or M4V file containers. I can use QT 7 Pro, MPEG Streamclip, and /or QT X to move MPEG-4/AAC compressed data to MOV file containers, MPEG Streamclip to movie M4V and MOV MPEG-4/AAC data to MP4 file containers, and Subler to move MP4 or MOV MPEG-4 AVC/AAC/AC3/Chapter data to M4V file containers. This is strictly a simple "copy" operation and no recompression of data is involved. (I.e., the quality is not changed.)
iMovie is a video editor and it forces an export conversion of your project once completed which can degrade quality. Have never used the Any Video Converter so I don't know if it has an audio and/or video "passthrough" feature for data already in a compatible compression formats. If it doesn't then any conversion it makes has the potential to degrade video content.
As to AVI, this is a legacy file container abandoned by Microsoft a dozen years ago in favor of their modernized WMV compression format/file type products. Compared to MKV, AVI is an outmoded/out-of-date container which I don't recommend you use unless you are a glutton for punishment. However, if you must use it, then you might try the AvidMux app. It can "copy" compatible content to a number of file container types—including AVI and MKV. Just don't blame me if its use creates more problems than it solves on current Mac systems.

  • Using Captivate to import .mp4 or .flv files

I am looking for someone with Captivate experience to let me
know if Captivate can turn my mp4 and flv files into scorm
compliant objects. Seems like I could import it and export it and
be ready to go. Is this the case?

    Hi again
Indeed Captivate is often used to capture screen activity.
But within Captivate 3 one may click Insert > Flash Video... and
point at a .FLV file to link to and present.
The FLV will normally require metadata. You might find the
link below to be of value.

  • "Tag Editor" for M4A and M4V Files?

I got major corruption in my music files, resulting in either 2 extra letters being inserted in the file names just ahead of the period between the file name and the extension, or the entire filename being replaced by 4 random letters. Found some tag editors that will let me repair MP3 files, by pulling tag data out of the file and using it to fix the file names. Does something like that exist for m4a and m4v files?

No, I'm not suggesting that at all, I was replying to another poster who said they couldn't add artwork to an mp4 at all.
Your equipment likely has nothing to do with this, I have a dual 4 core 3 Ghz Xeon CPU and I too have a considerable wait sometimes adding artwork to some files.
mp4 containers can hold either mpeg4/2 or mpeg4/10, (simple mpeg4 and AVC) and each compression type has a whole array of complexity types associated with it, much the same can be said for audio in the mp4 container.
What I'm saying is that some mp4's will take time to add artwork, some will do it straight away and there are situations where some mp4's won't take artwork. It isn't your system, your hardware or anything you are doing wrong, it's the way it is.

  • I Can't Play .MP4 and .mkv Files Backed up in Time Machine

I backed up My Macbook to an external hard drive in my passport / Time Machine.  I am attempting to play both .mp4 and mkv files in quicktime and vlc respectively.  They worked when they were on my computer, but I they won't open now.  I even tried to copy them to my computer and play them that way.  When I click on info, it shows the file size, and it seems normal.  I updated both Quicktime and vlc, and it still doesn't work.  Please help.

You wrote in your first post:

    Then you wrote:
when it restored it, the file size was zero
Which of those statements is true?

  • Importing PDF and Photoshop files since using Windows 7 64bit

    Hi,
I recently upgraded (?) to Windows 7 64bit.  I have notices when importing PDF and photoshop files into the InDesign document, the resolution of the graphics are off and the lines are choppy.  Even the fonts are illegible.  What happened?  Are there some settings that I need to into and tweek to bring everything back into alignment and focus?  (If those are the correct words.)  When I view the PDF files in windows, they are normal.  It is only when imported into InDesign that they are distorted.
    Thank you for any help.
    Clark

I run Maximized, so the window fills the available space (you can set the shortcut properties to open that way so you don't have to do it each time), or you could resize the window from the top, then grabe the title bar and drag it upward on the screen. Windows should remember the size and position, but it may not, being Windows, after all.

  • Import .pdf and ai file in indesign cc

    Hi,
I'd like to know if there's a way to import pdf and ai files in indesign cc 2014?
    Thanks

If you're asking how to use a PDF or ai as a graphic in InDesign, File>Place is what you want. If you're asking how to manipulate the elements of a PDF or ai after it has been placed in InDesign, that's not how it works, although you can turn layers on or off in a placed ai file if you go to Object>Object Layer Options.

  • Can't import .mp4 or .avi files

I am unable to import .mp4 or .avi files into iMovie. I have iMovie3.0.3. I am able to import .mov files, but not the two listed above. Is this because i have an older version of iMovie or is it just not possible. I am new to using iMovie, but do understand something. Any help would be greatly appriciated.

I am sure I didn't get iMovie 4, my powerbook is over 2 years old.

I figured it was just because I have an older version. I've known that I can convert the files in QT Pro, I just do not own it.
I'm probably going to end up getting iLive 05.
    Thanks for your help.

  • .mp4 and .mov files are just LARGE

Sorry, without posting all the encoding details, is there an obvious reason why my .mp4 and .mov files are ~10x the size that they should be after AME? I'm talking about files that are 30mb .mp4's before and 300mb.mov afterwards. If you need details I'll post. Thanks.

File size is determined primarily by only two factors - duration and bitrate.  The codec used, resolution, frame rate, etc. all have little or no effect on file size.
Duration, and bitrate.  If you want a smaller file, one or the other of those has to be reduced.

  • HT4622 How to import .band and .mid files into GarageBand for iOS

Using GarageBand for MacOS X, I have no difficulty importing and playing .mid (MIDI) files.  Indeed, I can even rename .kar (Karaoke) files to .mid, import them into GarageBand for MacOS X and see the lyrics along with the score.  Using File Sharing for iOS apps in iTunes.app, I have tried to import .mid and .band files (made from .mid files with GarageBand for MacOS X) using this mechanism.  I get no errors but it doesn't seem to work.  That is, neither the .band file nor the .mid file are accessible from within GarageBand for iOS as far as I can tell.  What should I be doing instead?

As I understand it GarageBand for iOS .band projects can be imported to GarageBand for OS X, but the reverse isn't true. GarageBand for iOS does not import midi files.
The File Sharing section of iTunes doesn't validate the files you put into it, but if the app doesn't like the structure of the file it will just ignore it.

  • Importing .MOD and .MOI files to iMovie - from JVC EverioS GZ-MS100

I'm desperate in finding a solution on the problems I have with importing .MOI and .MOD files to iMovie from a JVC EverioS GZ-MS100.
I have looked up all advices I can, also on this forum... But nothing seems to work for me at all!
PLEASE someone tell me asap how I can get my videos to iMovie so I can start editing my videos...
Thank you so much in advance!!
    I have iMovie '09 version 8.0.6 (821).

The Zi6 is not on the compatibilty list however I based my knowledge on this review at macworld.com
    http://www.macworld.com/article/135948/2008/10/kodakzi6.html
"To copy your captured content to the Mac, flip out the USB connector, switch on the camera, and jack it into a free USB 2.0 port. If you have the latest version of iPhoto, it launches and offers to import the separate video and image files. If you don’t have the most recent version of iPhoto, you’re welcome to import files into iMovie ‘08 with the File: Import Movie command, or into iMovie HD via the File: Import command. Each command produces an Import navigation window, where you can locate the movies on the attached camera (within the DCIM folder).
The Zi6’s movies are encoded in the H.264 format; as a result, there’s no need to install another codec to use them as you would for movies recorded with the Flip cameras, because H.264 is natively supported by QuickTime (and therefore iMovie and Final Cut Pro). Audio is recorded in the AAC format at 48 Kbps."
So this suggests iMovie 08 will accept the file format the Zi6 porduces. I will attempt file conversion before I loose iMovie 06 though.
