Trouble Importing MPG and Transcoding AVI
I have read all the posts in this sub-forum but can not find the solution to my problem.
I have edited a movie in PPro. It's about one and a half hour long. When I export it via MPG, non muxed, I can not import the M2V into Encore. The WAV file imports OK. The import dialog box shows up and the progress bar moves to about 80% and then sloooows done to a crawl and finally flashes back to 80% and continues this loop forever, no error message.
So I try exporting from PPro with the AVI (movie) option. This file imports immediately into Encore. I have tried several transcode settings to transcode the file before I try to burn a file or disk. However none of these settings have been successful. The progress bar takes it's time to go to the end, it then disappears but no transcoding takes place no matter how long I let it go befor hitting stop.
The MPG file was exported from PPro with VBR 2 pass 8 mbps PCM audio. I don't have Roxio or Nero. I ran reg1staid several times. My disks are defraged.
My machine is : Pentium 4, 2.8 ghrz, with 2 Gigs memory.
I hope somebody has some insight into this and can help me solve this frustrating problem. If not I guess I will spend the $39 and see what the "expert" at Adobe has to say.
tryptych: I tried AVS. I'm not sure what you were coverting from and to. I used AVS coverter to convert AVI file, produced with Adobe Prem Pro, to MPEG 2. It loaded into Encore alright but Encore wants to transcode it. Apparently Encore considers it non-complying DVD. I don't know if it's the AVS converter or Encore that is FOS. Be that as it may, Encore will not transcode the file anyhow.
By the way, you said that the only way you could get your "files to import at all was as an AVI, and then Encore wants to transcode them again". It is my understanding that AVI files NEED to be transcoded since they are not DVD compliant. However my copy of Encore will not transcode the AVI file even though no error message comes up. Is this not the case with you?
I'm beginning to think I have a faulty copy of Encore. I have been back to using Sonic DVDiT, but when I have the time and energy for combat with Adobe I will contact them.

Trouble Importing CDs and syncing with iCloud
I'm having some difficulty when importing tracks from CD's purchased into my iCloud account. I've noticed some CDs appear to sync to iCloud and others do not. Why is this happening? They are all legitimately purchased CDs that I would like to sync to iCloud. Is syncing to iCloud limited to only music purchased through iTunes?
Any idea what's causing this or how to import that music?
thanks!I too have this problem. My settings are exactly the same as they were prior to subscribing to iTunes Match -- that is, "Import using AAC Encoder" and "Setting iTunes Plus".
When my library was adapted to iTunes Match, all the CD imported files were uploaded to the cloud without any issues. Since then, I've had trouble finding new iTune Store purchases on my devices as well as finding the imported files from my CD's.
iTunes seems to process the import after I insert a CD. iTunes displays the import progress and a green check mark once the file is completed. I can listen to the music; but, cannot transfer to a playlist (cloud or non-cloud). The files are not in my library.
Is this a bug in iTunes or is there an added function that I'm skipping? -
Trouble importing .MPG files to FCE HD
I'm trying to import .MPG files into FCE HD, but I just get an error message "unknown file". The same happened when I tried to import to iMovie. The footage is from a friend's camera so I don't know any more details. The files are codec MPEG-2 Video, AC3 and 720 × 576 if that helps...
Would be grateful for any help! The files are codec MPEG-2 Video, AC3 and 720 × 576
You can't import this into FCE or iMovie, neither application supports MPEG2 video.
It would be best if you can find out & tell us the specific make & model camcorder your friend used. And even better what settings he used in the camcorder when he made the video(s).
Beyond that, MPEG2 files generally need to be converted to QuickTime, probably using Apple DV PAL codec (based on your 720x576 frame size, which is a PAL frame size). You can do this using MPEG Streamclip + the Apple QuickTime MPEG2 Playback component. But be aware - it's important to know your geography because North America uses NTSC whereas Europe uses PAL so you can choose the correct codec when you convert the files & select the correct Easy Setup in FCE. -

Importing mpg and m2ts to FCPX
I've been given a memory stick with m2ts and mpg files to import into FCPX.
It says I can't import them, something about a missing Codec.
I don't know what to do next.
I have Voltaic converter, but what settings do I need?Hard to tell with this information. Probably need MPEG Streamclip for the MPEG files and maybe ClipWrap for the m2ts.
I don't know about the Voltaic convert. I thought it did work in the 64-bit OSs. -
Trouble importing MPG. files
Hello guys!
I'm pretty much a newbie with macs.
But I'm very fast at learning my ways out.
Anyway, I've been wanting to make a movie with
my iMovie Maker, but I could never ever finish
anything.
I have a digital cam where I can record video.
Well, whenever I want to use these video clips
I'm never able to add them into my "clips" on
the iMovie thingie.
If I want to drag the clips [from my folders]
into the iMovie maker it will always tell me
"Can't open file "MOV0832.MPG"; skipping it and continuing".
Why??? How can I start making videos with my own
mpg files??
Please I need iHelp!!!
Thanks in advance and merry christmas to all!
Muah!

BTW, converting MPEG to DV/MOV the mother of all FAQs here Sadly the FAQ section of the forum decribes just the problem, not any solutions. And searching the forums doesn't always work either.

Trouble Importing MP4 and M4V files
Hi, I am creating iMovies and importing them into YouTube as MP4 and M4v files. All was fine until a week ago, and now all MP4 & M4V files are failing to load in YouTube. I have had no luck on the YouTube discussion forum. Has anyone had this problem and offer a solution? I have tried the multi-loader to no avail. My videos are all to spec with YouTube ie less that 10 min and under 1 GB. Thanks for your help.
Anyone seen this error before? I went ahead and recereated
what I could in Flash but I have some other wmv and mov files that
I would like to import, but right now I keep getting the error.
Any help would be much appreciated. thanks! -
Trouble importing tiffs and jpegs
I was importing an image into lightroom in 3 different formats: psd, tiff, and jpeg. I got an error message with the tiff and jpeg stating that the image was already in lightroom. The images all had the same name but were different formats. Does lightroom not recognize that the formats are different and therefore different images, or can it only import 1 format of an image? thanks
LR See's the Others as side cars to the one imported. You can put each type into another folder/directory and they will import. The you can put them all in the same folder from with LR.
This behavior is likely to change, because some many have complained about it. It was not supposed to happen between these three file types, but was impimented for RAW +JPEG pairs, as the JPEG was cnsidered a 'preview' sidecar and JPEGs based on prcessing the RAW could be easily exported at anytime. After much bru-ah-ah, this appears that it will change.

Best plug-in or app to play and export avi flicks
Hi
What is the best plug-in for FCPX, QT, or app to play and export avi flicks? Can they play in FCPX or FCP 7?
best
elmerAVI is a wrapper format like MOV. It would depend upon the codec used to encode the video if FCPX would be able to open it or not. I believe, in general, if you can open the movie file in QT, you can open it, play, and edit it in FCPX. That said, AVI is a Windows format and there are a lot of codecs in use in Windows that are not likely to be compatible with the codecs you have installed with Quicktime. First try opening the file in Quicktime Player. If you are in need of a codec to play the file, one of the easiest ways to install a lot of these codecs at once is via Perian (it is "end of life" at this point, but still works just fine in Yosemite.) You can download it here : http://perian.cachefly.net/Perian_1.2.3.dmg
I have been able to import, open and edit AVI files in FCPX (more specifically, ones encoded with XVID/MP3). -
Troubles importing and linking media in CS5.5
I am using CS5.5 and having trouble importing media. Importing .mpg or .VOB files (~30mins length, 1GB size) and both cause Prem to hang and not respond. I can leave it for half an hour and still no progress. However, when using a different computer, no troubles.
This is a clean install of CS5.5. Have cleared media cache.
Anyone help?System Information

I have an older Sony digital camcorder, and I am having trouble importing the movie files. Sometimes I get the audio in iTunes without the picture. I have a Pinnacle Dazzle interface. What am I doing wrong. Is there a way to skip the dazzle device?
Chances are the pinnacle is producing .avi files or MPEFG1/2 streams - iTunes may know how to decode the audio but not the video. Download Handbrake and try running the Pinnacle files through it and adding to iTunes - use Universal format unless you have a specific device in mind.
Keep copies of the originals.
Another option might be to try to install Perian. Can't remember if the Apple MPEG2 plugin allows MPEG2 to be played in iTunes.

Hi,
I am trying to pull together video footage taken at my brother-in-laws wedding. The tape footage is .avi which is supported by premier pro but the footage taken on a Sony HDD digital camera is saved as .mpg and comes up as an unsupported format, it is also not recognised as a recording device in a capture screen. I have spent the afternoon trying converters to get it into avi but it then plays in slow motion or is a still because I am using trail versions. Have you any ideas?? I need to work it out quickly as once I go home in 5 days I will have no time to look at it. I am already planning an all nighter!!
I do want to combine the two different videos so it plays as one.
Thank you SarahSarah,
You will not be able to Capture from the HDD camera in PrPro. As Harm mentions, if you have the trial, you cannot do anything regarding MPEG.
You will need to copy over the .MPEG (not sure if it writes this as a .VOB, or a straight MPEG file, to your computer, and then convert that/those file(s) to DV-AVI Type II, and then Import that/those file(s), into PrPro. I use DigitalMedia Converter, but there are free conversion programs that do it too, like Prism. Then, you will edit, and Export as DV-AVI to be used by an authoring program. With the trial, you will not have Encore, Adobe's excellent authoring app. Still, there are many others, that work, though not nearly so well. I think that Roxio, Nero and CyberLink have some authoring capabilities in certain of their programs. I do not use anything but Encore, so do not know how well, or poorly, these other programs function.
Good luck,
Hunt
PS - if the other camera records to miniDVD, or uses the .VOB container, this ARTICLE will give you some background on that "format." -
Why am I having trouble importing vCards? I follow the Help Center instructions by dragging and dropping, but some don't sync into the cloud. And why can't I drag multiple vCards? I have over 4,000. Please tell me I don't have to do one at a time?

Mostly because you are not using any capital letters or paragraph returns and your post is difficult to read. -

Thanks for the reply...
Old EXP IMP doesnt have capability to append the row, since you're using 10g use datapump instead. use option TABLE_EXISTS_ACTION=APPENDso my import should be like this
imp "'/ as sysdba'" file=Table1_1006.dmp fromuser=user1 touser=user1 tables=Table1 log=imp_Table1_1006.log TABLE_EXISTS_ACTION=APPEND
Did you look up the command line syntax and control options for imp?
You should make it a habit that whenever anyone - especially a stranger on the web - gives you a bit of code or references a command or init parm or any some such, the VERY FIRST thin you should ALWAYS do is look it up for yourself and see exactly where and how it is used and what it means. That is how you grow beyond having to be spoon fed every little thing and become more self-sufficient.
If you had, you would have seen that there is no TABLE_EXISTS_ACTION option for imp and seen that it is an option for impdp. And realized that exp and imp are NOT the same thing as expdp and impdp.

Learning how to look things up in the documentation is time well spent investing in your career. To that end, you should drop everything else you are doing and do the following:
Go to tahiti.oracle.com.
Drill down to your product and version.
<b><i><u>BOOKMARK THAT LOCATION</u></i></b>
Spend a few minutes just getting familiar with what is available here. Take special note of the "books" and "search" tabs. Under the "books" tab you will find the complete documentation library.
Spend a few minutes just getting familiar with what <b><i><u>kind</u></i></b> of documentation is available there by simply browsing the titles under the "Books" tab.
Open the Reference Manual and spend a few minutes looking through the table of contents to get familiar with what <b><i><u>kind</u></i></b> of information is available there.
Do the same with the SQL Reference Manual.
Do the same with the Utilities manual.
You don't have to read the above in depth. They are <b><i><u>reference</b></i></u> manuals. Just get familiar with <b><i><u>what</b></i></u> is there to <b><i><u>be</b></i></u> referenced. Ninety percent of the questions asked on this forum can be answered in less than 5 minutes by simply searching one of the above manuals.
Then set yourself a plan to dig deeper.
- Read a chapter a day from the Concepts Manual.
- Take a look in your alert log. One of the first things listed at startup is the initialization parms with non-default values. Read up on each one of them (listed in your alert log) in the Reference Manual.
- Take a look at your listener.ora, tnsnames.ora, and sqlnet.ora files. Go to the Network Administrators manual and read up on everything you see in those files.
- When you have finished reading the Concepts Manual, do it again.
Give a man a fish and he eats for a day. Teach a man to fish and he eats for a lifetime.
