Trouble importing music to my Zen To

I used to have an ipod, but it was stolen about a year ago. I have since then been using the itunes player as my default, and it hold all of my music. With my new Zen Touch though, it won't let me transfer the files from my documents and iTunes into it. Can anyone help me?
Thank You,
Sarah

What software are you trying to use to transfer to the Zen?
Normally you can just use something like MediaSource to transfer your files directly onto the player. I'm assuming these aren't AAC files, which aren't supported on the Zen.

  • Trouble importing music from extenal HD

I have a large music collection on an external hd consisting of about 400gb that I'm trying to import into itunes. I made a new itunes library, located on my external hd, by going into preferences/advanced, and changed the location of the library and imported 120 gb of music without any problems.
Then, while I as importing music, I recieved the message "Attempting to copy to the disk "my hd" failed. The disk could not be read from or written to."
After this itunes would not import any more music. Eventually I found that if I went in to preferences/advanced, and unchecked the "copy music to itunes music folder" options, itunes would import my music just fine.
This I can except, although it is a little more labor intensive, except a second problem started. When I would go to play some of the music I had recently imported, I get the exclamation point beside the track and the message "the song xxx could not be used because the original file could not be found. Would you like to locate it."
I understand what this means but itunes seems to be doing this randomly to different tracks on different cds. This means once i import music to itunes, I may have to do it 2-4 times before the link to the file actually stays in itunes which is completely unmanigable with a collection of this size.
I have been able to import files into itunes a second time, after the file was disconnected from itunes, and it has stayed in itunes successfully. This makes me think it is an itunes problem and not something to do with the specific files that are being disconnected.
I know it's a lot of info but any suggestions would be helpful.
    I'm a little frustrated.
    Thanks

Are you using a USB external drive? I've had problems like that before, trying to move large chunks of data, especially music, with USB. If you have the option of using Firewire with that HD, it works a lot better.

  • Trouble Importing Music on Dual Disc

I can load all other CDs, but can't import music from the CD side of the Dual Discs.
    Please help.
    Thanks.

The non-DVD side of DualDiscs does not meet CD Red Book specifications and it sounds like that might be the cause of your problem.
A search via Google should turn up lots of information.

  • Trouble importing from cd

I've been having trouble importing music into iTunes from a CD. Many times it will START the importing process and then freeze up (it continues to look like it's working but will be stuck in one spot for 5 or 10 minutes or longer. I end up having to force quit and starting over sometimes 2 or 3 times before it copies all of the songs. I've had the problem with old CDs but now it's doing it with brand new, out of the package CDs. I've never had this problem before and don't know if it's iTunes or the Mac Mini I'm working on. Anyone have any ideas about trouble-shooting? It's very frustrating and my PC friends are making fun of me .
    Thanks!

    Hi--
My Mini came with 10.4.3, but my other Macs have
10.3.8. (I wasn't able to upgrade the other
computers with the OSX discs that came in my Mini.)
Right, that's because the discs that come with the Mini won't have the necessary components to work with the other Macs. So it's either not going to work, period, or if it does, you risk an incomplete installation.
    I
have never had trouble with my iBook importing and
never had trouble with my iMac which used a Lacie
    external CD burner.
If you still have the external CD burner, try connecting that to your Mini and see what happens. If it works, then it's more likely the drive on the Mini. If it's the same, then probably a problem with iTunes' preferences somewhere.
Also, you could create a new user on the Mini. Try importing CDs with this new user. Again, if the imports work, then the drive is fine. But if they stall, too, then it might be time to have the drive looked at.
This is what I found for yesterday (the
day I was last importing CD's) in my Console.log.
But I don't know what it means or if it's related to
    iTunes application.
None of that stuff in the log has anything to do with iTunes. The mdimportserver is just an informational message from Spotlight telling you that it wasn't able to decode some data in a file, so it would treat it as if it were binary data instead of text.
The DirectoryService NetInfo listings can be gotten rid of, I believe, by turning off "NetInfo" in the Directory Access program in your Utilities folder. That's according to a post a short way down this page.
The other errors from Dashboard are just garden variety notifications. I was thinking that perhaps you were getting Disk I/O errors in your console log, or SAM multimedia sense errors. Those can be caused by either bad drives or bad CDs.

  • Importing Music and TextEdit Voice Application to Final Cut Express HD

I'm having trouble importing music tracks I bought and downloaded from the ITunes Music Store to Final Cut Express HD.
Also, is there a way of importing the 'audio computer voice' from TextEdit reading some text into Final Cut Express HD - I would like audio of a 'Robot Voice' reading some text on my audio track in a project.
    Many thanks,
    Jim

DRM prohibits use of many iTunes store tracks in FCE. The iTunes procedure, for material you can use legally, is to click iTunes>Preferences. In the Importing screen of the Advanced section, select AIFF encoding in Import Using. Then select the track you want to convert in your library and click Advanced>Convert Selection to AIFF, then drag the resulting file into FCE. (It will be at the CD sample rate of 44.1kHz; FCE prefers 48kHz.)

  • Having trouble adding purchased and imported music to my playlists

I'm having trouble adding purchased and imported music to my play lists. For example when I purchase or import new music to my playlists I have to re sync my ipod or the new songs don't appear on my playlists. Perhaps this is because I once unplugged my ipod w/out first disconnecting it. Previously when I purchased and imported music songs would appear on my play lists when I dragged them from purchased to playlist.

Remember to authorise your new machine with the Apple ID
Essentially copy the itunes folder and all sub folders over to the same place in the new computer.
    Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\username\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\
    Windows Vista: C:\Users\username\Music\iTunes\
    Windows 7: C:\Users\username\My Music\iTunes\
    Windows 8: C:\Users\username\My Music\iTunes\

  • I have PC with Windows 7 and iPad. My music in iTunes on PC is available under Music on iPad but having trouble moving music to i-Cloud. I suceed in moving the music to iCloud on PC but when I look at iPad music still on device and not in iCloud. Help?

I am a beginner using Apple software, so please bare with me.
I am having trouble moving music from the iPad to iCloud in order to save space in the device.
I realise that in order to store music not purchased on iTunes store can only be stored in iCloud if you subscribe to iTunes Match which I have done.
Appears that moving music from iTunes on my PC to iCloud is successful by deleting song or album in iTunes library and than click on "Keep song" instead of sending to recycle bin. After this has been done the Cloud Icon appears on the album or against the song. However when I then look at Music on the iPad the album or song have not been moved to iCloud. I have tried syncronising with cable connected between PC and iPad. After that has been done the message is that sync was successful bujt still music has not been moved into the Cloud.
Can anybody help? What am I doing wrong? Is there a way to move the music to the cloud working on the iPad only (without trying to use the PC to move the music to the cloud)?

You can only add music to iTunes Match from your iTunes library on your computer, not from your iOS device.  If you have music on your iPad that is not on your computer, you'll have to import it to your iTunes library on your computer to add it to iTunes Match.
Music purchased from the iTunes store can be imported directly to your iTunes library by authorizing your computer for the Apple ID(s) used to purchase the music (in Store>Authorize This Computer), then connecting the iPad to your computer, opening iTunes and going to File>Devices>Transfer Purchases.  Music from other sources will require using 3rd party software to transfer to your computer, such as Touch Copy.

  • Problem importing music - CDs won't be read

    Hello,
I'm re-importing my music onto an external hard drive after my multiple libraries got mixed up (I figured it'd be easier that wading through the 150+ gigs of music), and I have a problem. Music that I've had no trouble importing before is now causing me problems. I insert the CD into my MacBook Pro, and it'll spin up trying to read the CD three times, and then spit the CD back out. It doesn't even show up in iTunes.
Is there something I can do to fix this? I've imported the music, with no problem, before on my iMac G4 to the external drive. I've encountered this problem in the past, but not at this magnitude (I'd say about forty or so of my CDs won't work in the MBP). It's usually happened before on imported CDs, but I've gotten them to work in the past.
I've tried restarting iTunes as well as my computer, but no luck. The CDs are clean, and while not perfect, are clean enough that they should be recognized by the drive (when I put them in my iMac, they show up and work).
In case you're wondering (I don't know if it'll help or not), I'm using a MBP with the new Santa Rosa chipset. The music is going on to a LaCie External HD connected via FW 800. I'm using the latest version of iTunes software, and all the software is up-to-date. The iMac that I don't use, but the CDs work in, is a iMac G4 800 MHz.
My thanks in advance. This is really, really frustrating since I just purchased this MacBook Pro. Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks again!
    -Kyle

I'm having a similar problem on my iMac G4. Some CDs will import fine, others just spin and won't read. I tested them on another Mac (in this case a G4 Aluminum and the CDs would read).
Don't know what to do here. If it were just one or two discs I would come up with a work around, but in this case, I have discs that would not import (1/2 of what I tried to import last night).
Have looked at my iTunes settings and don't see anything. Since the drive works for some CDs, I know it works. Appreciate any insight you can offer.
    Thanks.

  • Trouble Importing Files PSE 7 to Windows 7 (32 bit)

I am attempting to install PSE 7 into a computer running Windows 7, 32 bit.
The installation was a success to the extent that I was able to connect a catalog containing a huge amount of photos, (180,000 +) to the organizer, and after several hours of "generating thumbnails" the installation seemed to have stabilized.
However, when I try to import new photos, the "get photos from files and folders" operation takes ridiculous amounts of time, and is sort of "hit or miss" in that it sometimes it hangs altogether and I have to use "task manager" to shut down PSE.
Other than this, the program seems to be working normally (!) or maybe (?)
I have tried various compatibility modes, (XP SP2, Vista, Vista SP 1 & 2) with very little difference in results. Well, maybe Vista SP 2 was a tiny bit better.
The computer this is installed in is a Pentium C2D 2.8Ghz (E6300) w/ 2 GB of DDR2 800Mhz RAM. So, it's got plenty of "juice" to deal with PSE's requirements.
My photo files are stored in folders & sub-folders on a separate internal HDD (750GB WD).
Both PSE 5 and 7 work on 3 other computers containing the identical catalogs and photos, in basically the same configuration, including separate storage drives for each. These machines are running Windows XP SPs 2 or 3 (I use multiple computers as a back up strategy, copying the entire existing HDD to another, then install the drive into another machine, import the catalog file into PSE, and change the HDD letter to match that of the existing catalog). Done this way, the PSE installation is identical to that in the previous machine, and is up and running rapidly.
launching such  a large catalog takes a bit of time to initialize, or search (understandably), but on these other machines there is no trouble importing, locating, or managing files.
I should add that on the Windows 7 machine, Windows Explorer works quite well in accessing all of the photo files, so this sort of rules out a problematic Hard drive.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Mr. Ellis, PSE 7 is simply not permitting me to drag folders from Windows Explorer into the organizer. It just blows up the dreaded "black circle with diagonal slash", and that's the end of the issue, at least as far as PSE 7 is concerned.
Since I've had to terminate this program abnormally several times, it resets the preferences upon restart. The other day it hung when I was trying to set preferences, so as you might expect, I'm very cautious about making changes. I don't know if changing any preferences would enable drag and drop, I'm just trying to illuminate the eggshells I'm walking in trying to stabilize the program.
In answer to your question, about the "documents and settings folder", no, I'm not using in any of my photo file paths. I realize I may have confused the issue with that statement, it was out of context. But my purpose in doing so was to obviate the differences in file paths that PSE is expecting, and the file paths that I'm using. Perhaps that was a bad example.
I almost never use either the "My Documents" or the My Pictures" folders in Windows, nor do I allow PSE to use them. Storing data of any kind on the OS drive (C:/) is not in my repertoire of "stupid things I like to do, even if they're destined to end badly".
All of my computers have a minimum of 2 physical HDDs, not partitions. All video, music, photos, program installer files, etc. are stored on a discreet, separate, HDDs, (identified in "My Computer" as, (IE) " G: Volume")). The "C:/" drives are exclusively for Windows and installed programs.
That said, a typical file path to a group of photos in my computer would be, "My Computer" > "G:/ Volume" > "My Digital Photos" > "Airshows" > "McGuire AFB 2007" (In case you're wondering, I'm way too lazy to go through that each time, so I add desktop shortcuts to the extra HDDs and even the largest folders).
As you are well aware, that is completely different from the file path that PSE would choose by default. A file path for which I have a great deal of disdain. But, that is another complicated and contentious issue, which doesn't have a clear winner thus far.
Anyhoo, I think that PSE would "appear" more compatible (and probably is )with Windows 7 if it were allowed to follow it's own choices as to where to store the photo files. One supposes the folders that Windows 7 "creates" for earlier programs further aids (supposed) compatibility.
As I mentioned in one of my other somewhat long winded posts, I now have a viable option for importing photos, "find photos by searching", the manual drill down modus operandi. Works great!
I'm not expecting this installation of PSE to do any, "heavy lifting" with respect to editing, or a resting place for un-backed up photos . It's in a new machine I just built for the primary purpose of, extra backup,  recording TV, and perhaps installing a Bluray drive. The motherboard has HDMI output, so it plugs into the TV directly, and the PSE slideshow function works perfectly.  With a 40" TV, it's even better than a slide projector for boring relatives with vacation photos!
So, although this thread is still marked as "unanswered", I do have a workaround solution. There should be a check box indicating, "it won't ever be answered until Adobe issues a patch"! (Like that's going to happen).
Again Mr. Ellis, thank you very much for your interest in this issue. I might add that I have read your page on problems with PSE and it's obvious that you have applied a great deal of thought, effort, experience, and industry toward helping people deal with PSE more effectively.
As an afterthought I have several copies of PSE laying around, 2,3,5, & 7, (some in multiples) and I've never had a serious problem with any of them. So I'm actually astounded when I see the litany of issues that apparently manifest themselves. This is my first actual issue, and Windows 7 is pretty upfront about PSE 7 being an incompatible application.

  • Trouble importing pre-existing videos on my computer into iTunes?

I'm having trouble importing pre-existing videos on my computer into my iTunes library? For example, I've tried adding a home video and opening it with iTunes, etc, and no error comes up or anything, it just doesn't show up in my iTunes library, not in the music, TV, Movies, Podcasts or Radio. What is the problem, does the video need to be converted to a suitable format? If so, what is this and how do I do this? I'm a new iTunes and iPod user so I would really appreciate any solutions or advice to this problem.

Apple reads .MP4 along with many others... but this might be a type it doesn't support! so if you ever found out how to fix this.... TELL MEEEE!!!!

  • I can't transfer my music from my zen micro to my

I have a little problem when I try to transfer my music from the zen micro to my pc with zen media explorer I have an error ,I have the same thing using creative media source organizer.the error is always the same "transfer error" its says that my file is working or its occuped and it can't transfer it. That is so strange its that I can transfer misic from my pc to my zen micro but not the inverse.Help !!!!!!

My personal view is the PC Music Library is a waste of time. It's an intermediate step between transferring tracks to the player, and I don't use any features within it. However your mileage may vary.
You can import tracks into the MediaSource PC Music Library one of two ways (at least). . Have a view with the files/folders on one side, and then the PC Music Library on the other, and simply use the transfer arrow to put the tracks into it (basically the tracks won't be copied, the links to them are simply added to the library database). 2. Use the Import button, on the toolbar. I believe this prompts for a directory with your files in, and it will then scan through the files.
Not sure if this was mentioned before, but before doing any of this make sure you install the latest drivers, MediaSource, and MediaSource plugin from Nomadworld.com downloads.
