Trouble importing pics from Canon Powershot

I am not able to import pics from a Canon Powershot S400 even though I was able to do this before on my iBook G4. I have iPhoto version 5.0.4 and Mac OSX 10.4.10. The iBookG4 is recognizing the Canon, the number of pics to be
imported but does not progress any further. If you click Stop Import an error message comes up that the pics are unreadable. I am able to download them however, on an earlier version (iPhoto 4.0.3) on another laptop.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

If your camera has a "communications" setting in the menu, make sure it is set to "PTP/Print" and not "PC Communications"

  • Importing Pics from Canon EOS1100D

    Hi,
I've been using the macbook to upload my Canon pics since I bought the camera last year but tried this evening & iphoto is not recognising them all of a sudden. How do I change the 'Transfer Protocol" on my Canon to TPT? Can anyone help please?

    Hi Terence,
When I plug the USP lead in, the photos appear on the screen as usual, with the option to import all or 'selected', when I select either option this message comes up "images are in an unrecognised format".
I uploaded pics yesterday & it worked perfectly. my GF had trouble uploading pics from her Canon earlier today & I'm now having the same issue. I don't have the Camera manual & have been unsuccessful looking for the answer on the internet. Idon't know how to up[load to a test library.
    Regards,
    Damian.

  • Cannot import video from Canon Powershot G9

We just bought a Canon Powershot G9 and have had no trouble importing photos taken on it into our iPhoto (7.1.3). But we cannot import the video taken on the camera at all: every time we try iPhoto crashes and shuts as it starts the import process. We've saved the .avi files to a folder but even when playing them in VLC we get sound but no video. We're using iMac with OS 10.4.11.
Can anyone help in how to get the video from the G9 into iPhoto? We've also tried the Canon software and iMovie but neither worked.

    Hi Terence,
    Thanks for your promt response
I didn't move the file to the desktop because mp4s from my camera are imported by default to iphoto. Recently though, they have been corrupted or just not appearing at all in iphoto or anywhere else.
But I thought about it for a while and wondered if I could import them to (yes, you've guessed it) imovie HD!
I've gone for months looking everywhere for a solution to my problem, but not only was there no help in my mac, neither was the web any use. Consequently, I lost loads of precious little movies, (grandchildren, etc.) thinking the files were corrupt and not worth keeping.
You've obviously realised that I am not a computer geek, but thanks to 'lack of simple knowledge' being available on the net; thanks to you (indirectly) I managed to solve my problem.
I can't help wondering why on earth Apple doesn't admit that iphoto will 'baulk at importing anything that's too big', and simply suggest that newbies to Macs should import movies to imovie.
Thanks again for your clue to sorting out my problem.....now solved.

  • Is there a way to import photos from Canon Powershot S45 after downloading Yosemite?

Is there a way to import photos from a Canon Powershot S45 after downloading Yosemite?

I was reading another post yesterday about a Canon PowerShot S40 owner who previously used Image Capture to bring the images into the computer. They reached out to Canon and were returned a response stating that the drivers weren't compatible for OS X Yosemite. The best bet would be a card reader. The JPEG files are still going to be the same, but connecting with a USB cable directly to the camera isn't feasible any more. Head to the nearest Best Buy and pick up a USB card reader and you'll be able to see your pictures in Finder and can then import them to iPhoto or wherever you keep your pictures.

  • Import videos from Canon Powershot camera to iMovie

I recently bought the Canon Powershot D30 underwater camera. I tried to import the video clips to iMovie without success. It can only export to iPhoto and the video clips when dragged to iMovie became still shots. How do I transfer the videos to iMovie for editing? I have a MacBook Pro with iMovie 11

Not sure of what you mean when you "never find where the video went". Did you use the import function of iMovie or ? If it is from the camera software, I suspect the video went to your Movies folder in your user folder. But...
Just checked this out and it is simple. I assume your video is on an SD card or something like that. Just download the movie to your desktop from the camera, then open iMovie 09 and go to the import function under the file menu and import the movie from your desktop. As to

  • Trouble importing images from Canon EOS to iPhoto

When I returned from my daughter's wedding with about 400 irreplacable photos I discovered that I could not import photos from my Canon EOS to iPhoto on my iMac.  When I initially connect my camera to the computer the images display perfectly. However, when I click "import all" the downloaded images all appear completely blank (gray).  I don't have any difficulty importing images from my iPhone.

I have had a similar experience with a few greyed out images I did not bother too much because it was not important at the time. I was wondering if you could save them into another format or file and then try importing them from there.

  • Importing photos from Canon PowerShot A710

  • Trouble importing RAW from Canon 50D to Lightroom 3.3

I've searched the forum and can't find much reference to this -- I shoot with a Canon 50 in RAW format only.  When I attempt to import from the camera (File -> Import Photos then select Canon EOS 50D as source) into lightroom 3.3 (same with 3.1, 3.2), no photos appear in the import window.
As an experiment, when I changed the format to JPEG, the JPEG photos appeared in the dialog as I would expect.
My operating system is Windows 7 64 and I am using Lightroom 3.3 64-bit version.  In the help menu under the version is says "Camera Raw 6.3"  On the 50D the Raw format is set to "Raw" rather than S-Raw-1 or S-Raw-2.
I am able to import the photos by importing through the Canon utility and then importing those photos into Lightroom.
Any help you can give would be appreciated.  File management is starting to become an issue.
    Thanks

    Thanks for the replies.
First, I don't have a card reader and yes, I probably should get one eventually.  To clarify, import is not slow, it simply does not even attempt to import.  When I connect my 50D with a card full of RAW files, LR detects it but it shows "No Photos Found."  I honestly don't think that it is LR's fault, it really seems like there is some obvious setting I have missed on either my camera or LR.
    Thanks.

  • IPhoto not responding when importing photos from Canon Powershot SD450

Recently I have been unable to import photos from my camera. I can see the thumbprints but when I try to import iPhoto hangs and has to be force quit? I am able to take the SD Card and insert it into an SD card reader, so there is no problem with the SD card.
The following message appears in the Console log:
    10/28/08 1:56:53 PM iPhoto[61816] Error loading /Library/Contextual Menu Items/DocumentsToGoXCM.plugin/Contents/MacOS/DocumentsToGoXCM: dlopen(/Library/Contextual Menu Items/DocumentsToGoXCM.plugin/Contents/MacOS/DocumentsToGoXCM, 262): no suitable image found. Did find:

Anyone know if this DocumentsToGoXCM.plugin is related to the DocumentsToGo program for Palm PDAs (which I have)? And why would it be involved with iPhoto?

    Sure seems like it.
And why would it be involved with iPhoto?
    May not be.
I am able to take the SD Card and insert it into an SD card reader, so there is no problem with the SD card.
Can you import from it there?

  • Trouble importing photos from Canon Power Shot SD1300

Until today, my family has had no difficulty importing photos into iPhoto from our Canon Power Shot SD1300 camera. But when I plugged in today to import the most recent few months of shots, the program would not accept the .jpg file format (or so the notice said). Similarly, Image Capture would not import the images.
I'm running iPhoto 8.1.2, Image Capture 6.0.1 on a MacBookPro6,2 with an Intel Core i5/2.4 GHz machine with OS X 10.6.8.
Why is this suddently not working? Did something happen with recent updates of software that screwed everything up? We've tried most of the sensible things from the camera end: deleting old photos so the memory card shouldn't be overloaded, recharging battery....
    What's next?
    TCC

Unfortunately, the iPhoto error message, which had something to do with "not recognizing the file type" or something (though they were listed as .jpg files) no longer shows up. Now iPhoto thinks there are no photos on the camera, though there are quite a few actually.
Image Capture recognizes that there are image files, but says, "Import Error. An error occurred while importing. 347 items were not imported." And then it begins with a list of the first files on the camera.

  • Cannot import RAW from Canon Powershot S50

    Hello,
I am trying to import RAW files from a Canon S50 and I get a message stating that the files are unreadable. I can open them in Photoshop if I move them from the microdrive to the system.
    Any ideas.
    Erik

    Hello Erik
is iphoto telling you that the file is unreadable? what version of iphoto are you using? i use to have a Canon S50 and had a "unreadable" file message. i used image capture to download the file though it was a jpeg error message.
i used the packaged software to download and uncompress the RAW files instead of using iphoto(had ver. 4 at the time).

  • Importing photos from Canon Powershot SX10IS

I know there is an issue with Canons Camera Window software and OS X 10.6.2, but I have a strange thing going on. I have an old Canon A530 and when attached to my Mac it opens Camera Window just fine and downloads with no problem. • Can't import video from Canon ZR50

    Hi,
I'm having (a LOT) of trouble importing video from my DV camcorder (a Canon ZR50) into iMovie. I used to do this all the time (using this camcorder) with no problems whatsoever, but I haven't imported any video for a couple of years.
First, I got the error message that the camcorder was sending "half-frames" that iMovie couldn't accept and to change the recording speed to SP.
I changed the recording speed to SP, but still got the same error message. So, I then uplugged everything, restarted the computer, took the battery and the emergency battery out of the camcorder, waited five minutes, replaced the batteries, reset the date/time/recording speed (to SP), plugged the firewire back in, and got the same error message.
I then decided to go boot up my ancient blue dalmation iMac that I used to edit video on, and although iMovie said the camcorder was connected, when I hit either "play" or "import," even though the video would play on the camcorder, it wouldn't show up in iMovie.
PLEASE help me get my video onto the computer!!!
    Thanks so much,
    Sierra

  • Trouble Imprting video from canon hg 10 to imovie 08

Hi, I am having trouble importing video from my canon hg10 to imovie 08. When I try to import video imovie 08 tells me my camera is not connected even though it is. The canon hdd appears on the desktop. I have an intel core duo mac mini and have updated imovie 08 to v. 7.1. Any ideas would be much appreciated, Thanks.

Hope you all had a great Christmas.
Now back to the problem at hand. Nathan, did you get your Mac to recognize the camera.
I spend 2 hrs. with Apple Care x-mas morning, had to cut them off 'cause my children wanted to open their presents. Recorded them on my HG-10. Haven't had a chance to call back to continue case.
I want to find a solution, before having to go to the extreme of initializing the drive in camera.
    Anyone?
