Trouble importing sites in CS3
I can't find any info on this. I installed CS3 on my MacPro
and exported my websites definitions from my G4 and copied the
local folders to the new computer. I have noticed that when I
"manage" my sites and click away from the local info tab that
several sites are giving me the errors:
"The file selected is not within the current site's local
root folder. The site map cannot be built."
"The selected folder does not contain the current site's home
page. The site map cannot be built."
"Warning: the images folder is not inside the site."
All these sites seem to be working. I can see the local files
and folders in the files panel. I can open and edit and upload. I
assume this has something to do with exporting/importing from the
old computer.
Also, like many others, CS3 is running very slowly. Bogging
down with everything I do. I have changed to rosetta mode but it
didn't really help. I'm wondering if it has something to do with
the above. It is still slow with the sites that are not having the
errors. I seems to want to access the remote site unnecessarily.
I have read all the documentation on the CS3 problems. Thank
you for any suggestions.

When you look at the site definitions, are the paths to the
local root
folders correct?
Does your hard drive name have any unusual characters in it
(periods,
apostrophes, underscores, spaces, etc.)?

Trouble Importing files to Pro CS3 and also getting default workspace
Hi guys, I'm a newbie and only using Premiere CS3 3.2.0 (with update recently installed) I'm on a Vista-based laptop, 2.5Ghz, 4mb RAM, plenty of hard drive space.
When I start a new project in Premiere CS3, in the New Project window, I go down to XDCAM EX, (shot with Sony EX 3), and highlight 1080p. Usually I get text in the description box but right now I'm not getting anything. And when I give the project a name and click OK, I get a blank workspace; no default timeline bin or file bin or monitor windows. I get nothing.
I have files on an external 250gig IOMEGA hd. Having trouble importing these files into the project. Can anyone help with any ideas of how to get started? Thanks!
UPDATE: I'm still getting a blank workspace when opening up a new project.
I have since attempted to import files from the external HD. It appears the files transferred over but I have no idea where they went. I saw the bar accept the files but cannot find the files listed anywhere in Premiere. Can someone please help?OK, this used to work. Is that correct? Now it does not, or appears to not work. When that happens, something has changed.
The task will be to determine what might have changed. Have you had any OS updates lately? First, these can render display drivers obsolete instantly. Though it sounds like most of your GUI is displaying fine, some updated GUI info might not be, like the Timeline and Project Panel. Check to see if you have the latest display driver.
Since you have updated to 3.2 (normally a highly recommend thing to do), I would be interested to know if this behavior started before that update, or if it started long after 3.2 worked for you. Redoing the update might be like a Repair Install. If not, I think that I would try a Repair Install to see if something has been broken along the way.
I know that none of this really points to a cause, and probably does not point to a cure.
Along the way, tell us more about your entire system, both the hardware and the software.
Last, do you happen to have Window Blinds, or have a MS mouse with an InteliPoint mouse driver? I know that sounds like a weird question, but I have my reasons.
Good luck,

Importing site info from Dreamweaver 8 to CS3
I am thinking about moving from Dreamweaver 8 to Dreamweaver
CS3. I have roughly 10 sites that I edit and update. I am wondering
if there is a way to import the site information from 8 to CS3
(meaning the FTP info, folders, etc).
Thanks for the help,
JoeI have a similar issue. I had CS4 installed on my machine with about 20 sites/ftp info etc saved into it. My computer had a complete meltdown and I had to rebuild the computer. I have installed CS4 onto the new hard drive and I was able to save the old hard drive (it was unstable though and safer to start fresh). Is it possible to have my installation of CS4 grab the site information from a different drive on my machine? I was hoping it would just find it when I installed the software, but no such luck.
I tried "importing sites" but I could find any .ste files that it was looking for. Any help would be greatly appreciated. It will take a long time to re-input all of those sites. -
I need to import site information from Studio MX to
DreamWeaver CS3. From the New Site dialog it appears that the files
have the .ste extension, but I am not positive.
Would like to have the information needed to import site
information from Studio MX to CS3.> AND- Is dw MX still able to run, and are the old sites
still defined on it?
>
>>> Yes, and yes.
okay- two ways to go.
The upgrade on the same machine should have pulled up all
sites defined on
the older version. Don't know why that didn't work. It's
something that
should work doing a normal upgrade on the same box.
way one:
get the third party mm-exporter utility. I don't use windows
and don't use
this program. But it works.
http://mm-exporter.joexx.de/
way two: if you can open dw MX and "see" the old sites, then
go to dw menu
IN DW MX, manage sites, and use the manage sites dialog box
to select a site
and create a .ste file for that site. Rinse, lather, repeat
for every site
you have defined. Then use the same menu item in cs3 to
"import" those site
definition .ste files
remember- there are two things- the site definition, and the
actual site
files. The site definition tells dw where things are. The
site files are the
things in the site.

Having trouble importing select pictures from a cd to my iphoto library
I am having trouble importing (and viewing) my vacation photos from a cd to my iphoto library. Some of the photos I can view in finder, but when i click on the rest, I get a message that says "Item xxxx.jpg is used by mac os x and cannot be opened". When I tried to import the photos to my library... the ones I could view imported no problem, the ones I couldn't view will not import and I get a message saying "unreadable files: the following files could not be imported (they may be an unrecognized file type or the files may not contain valid data)". I am just sick that I cannot find these photos!!! =( especially since I had them on iphoto before I cleaned out my computer (so I've had them in my library before). Any ideas? I am in desperate need of help! =(
P.S. When I try to move the pictures to my desktop, I get a notice that says, "you may need to enter the name and pasword for the administrator on this computer to change the item named xxxx.jpg"... when I click continue, another message pops up and says, "the item xxx.jpg contains one or more busy items that cannot be changed"Welcome to the Apple Discussions. What do you have set in the System/CDs and DVDs preferences to do when a disk is inserted? If the option is not set to the Finder do so and see if that will make any difference.
Otherwise boot into Safe Mode and see if you can copy the files from the CD to a folder on the Desktop. Boot back into your normal account and see if you can import. Or import while still in the Safe Mode.
Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

What color space are the pics? iPhoto supports RGB, if they are another - such as CMYK or GrayScale this will cause problems.

Trouble importing contacts from a tab-delimited file into Contacts on 10.9.5
I am having Trouble importing contacts from a tab-delimited file into Contacts on MacBook Pro, OS 10.9.5, Intel 2.4 GHz Core 2 Duo., 400GB drive, 4GB memory DDR3
So far I have:
- Followed closely the help screen in Contacts app
- Modified my source document meticulously - first in MS Word, then copied and tweaked in Apple's "Text Edit" app
- The problem arises when I go to access the document for import. Specifically, the target document, and all others in that file, are "greyed out" and thus can't be "opened" to facilitate the import process
- Tried changing the extension of the document name to ".txt", ".rtf", and ".rtd". No change or improvement.
- Searched Apple.com/help and found nothing relevant
Can anyone offer some advice or tell me what I may be overlooking in this process?
Any help will be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
<Email Edited By Host>Hi Rammohan,
Thanks for the effort!
But I don't need to use GUI upload because my functionality does not require to fetch data from presentation server.
Moreover, the split command advised by you contains separate fields...f1, f2, f3... and I cannot use it because I have 164 fields. I will have to split into 164 fields and assign the values back to 164 fields in the work area/header line.
Moreover I have about 10 such work areas. so the effort would be ten times the above effort! I want to avoid this! Please help!
I would be very grateful if you could provide an alternative solution.
Thanks once again,
Best Regards,

Trouble importing from canon t4i into imove
So I have a canon t4i and I've been having trouble importing my videos from my memory card to imovie, and iphoto wont even let me upload it. I tried converting it to AVI (which took a few hours) and It's still not doing anything. I don't know what to do and it's really frustrating.
Hello Samantha3232,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
For more information on this, take a look at:
Some video clips may not import into iMovie when using the Camera Import window
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4485
From the File menu, choose Import > Movies.
In the dialog that appears, select your camera from the sidebar.
Locate and select the video clips on your camera that you would like to import.
Click the Import button.
Best of luck,

Trouble Importing Files PSE 7 to Windows 7 (32 bit)
I am attempting to install PSE 7 into a computer running Windows 7, 32 bit.
The installation was a success to the extent that I was able to connect a catalog containing a huge amount of photos, (180,000 +) to the organizer, and after several hours of "generating thumbnails" the installation seemed to have stabilized.
However, when I try to import new photos, the "get photos from files and folders" operation takes ridiculous amounts of time, and is sort of "hit or miss" in that it sometimes it hangs altogether and I have to use "task manager" to shut down PSE.
Other than this, the program seems to be working normally (!) or maybe (?)
I have tried various compatibility modes, (XP SP2, Vista, Vista SP 1 & 2) with very little difference in results. Well, maybe Vista SP 2 was a tiny bit better.
The computer this is installed in is a Pentium C2D 2.8Ghz (E6300) w/ 2 GB of DDR2 800Mhz RAM. So, it's got plenty of "juice" to deal with PSE's requirements.
My photo files are stored in folders & sub-folders on a separate internal HDD (750GB WD).
Both PSE 5 and 7 work on 3 other computers containing the identical catalogs and photos, in basically the same configuration, including separate storage drives for each. These machines are running Windows XP SPs 2 or 3 (I use multiple computers as a back up strategy, copying the entire existing HDD to another, then install the drive into another machine, import the catalog file into PSE, and change the HDD letter to match that of the existing catalog). Done this way, the PSE installation is identical to that in the previous machine, and is up and running rapidly.
launching such a large catalog takes a bit of time to initialize, or search (understandably), but on these other machines there is no trouble importing, locating, or managing files.
I should add that on the Windows 7 machine, Windows Explorer works quite well in accessing all of the photo files, so this sort of rules out a problematic Hard drive.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.Mr. Ellis, PSE 7 is simply not permitting me to drag folders from Windows Explorer into the organizer. It just blows up the dreaded "black circle with diagonal slash", and that's the end of the issue, at least as far as PSE 7 is concerned.
Since I've had to terminate this program abnormally several times, it resets the preferences upon restart. The other day it hung when I was trying to set preferences, so as you might expect, I'm very cautious about making changes. I don't know if changing any preferences would enable drag and drop, I'm just trying to illuminate the eggshells I'm walking in trying to stabilize the program.
In answer to your question, about the "documents and settings folder", no, I'm not using in any of my photo file paths. I realize I may have confused the issue with that statement, it was out of context. But my purpose in doing so was to obviate the differences in file paths that PSE is expecting, and the file paths that I'm using. Perhaps that was a bad example.
I almost never use either the "My Documents" or the My Pictures" folders in Windows, nor do I allow PSE to use them. Storing data of any kind on the OS drive (C:/) is not in my repertoire of "stupid things I like to do, even if they're destined to end badly".
All of my computers have a minimum of 2 physical HDDs, not partitions. All video, music, photos, program installer files, etc. are stored on a discreet, separate, HDDs, (identified in "My Computer" as, (IE) " G: Volume")). The "C:/" drives are exclusively for Windows and installed programs.
That said, a typical file path to a group of photos in my computer would be, "My Computer" > "G:/ Volume" > "My Digital Photos" > "Airshows" > "McGuire AFB 2007" (In case you're wondering, I'm way too lazy to go through that each time, so I add desktop shortcuts to the extra HDDs and even the largest folders).
As you are well aware, that is completely different from the file path that PSE would choose by default. A file path for which I have a great deal of disdain. But, that is another complicated and contentious issue, which doesn't have a clear winner thus far.
Anyhoo, I think that PSE would "appear" more compatible (and probably is )with Windows 7 if it were allowed to follow it's own choices as to where to store the photo files. One supposes the folders that Windows 7 "creates" for earlier programs further aids (supposed) compatibility.
As I mentioned in one of my other somewhat long winded posts, I now have a viable option for importing photos, "find photos by searching", the manual drill down modus operandi. Works great!
I'm not expecting this installation of PSE to do any, "heavy lifting" with respect to editing, or a resting place for un-backed up photos . It's in a new machine I just built for the primary purpose of, extra backup, recording TV, and perhaps installing a Bluray drive. The motherboard has HDMI output, so it plugs into the TV directly, and the PSE slideshow function works perfectly. With a 40" TV, it's even better than a slide projector for boring relatives with vacation photos!
So, although this thread is still marked as "unanswered", I do have a workaround solution. There should be a check box indicating, "it won't ever be answered until Adobe issues a patch"! (Like that's going to happen).
Again Mr. Ellis, thank you very much for your interest in this issue. I might add that I have read your page on problems with PSE and it's obvious that you have applied a great deal of thought, effort, experience, and industry toward helping people deal with PSE more effectively.
As an afterthought I have several copies of PSE laying around, 2,3,5, & 7, (some in multiples) and I've never had a serious problem with any of them. So I'm actually astounded when I see the litany of issues that apparently manifest themselves. This is my first actual issue, and Windows 7 is pretty upfront about PSE 7 being an incompatible application. -
Hi. Having trouble importing a font -- universe to be specific. I brought it into Font Book and it's working in Pages. But when I select it in Final Cut, I get a bold, italicized text. It doesn't change -- it's bold and italicized -- no matter what style I choose (plain/bold/italic/bold-italic).
Any ideas on how to fix this?6.0.6.
False alarm -- the font works fine in the video panel of the viewer. It's only slanted and bold in the control panel.
Thanks for the help. -
Troubles importing and linking media in CS5.5
I am using CS5.5 and having trouble importing media. Importing .mpg or .VOB files (~30mins length, 1GB size) and both cause Prem to hang and not respond. I can leave it for half an hour and still no progress. However, when using a different computer, no troubles.
This is a clean install of CS5.5. Have cleared media cache.

Trouble importing pre-existing videos on my computer into iTunes?
I'm having trouble importing pre-existing videos on my computer into my iTunes library? For example, I've tried adding a home video and opening it with iTunes, etc, and no error comes up or anything, it just doesn't show up in my iTunes library, not in the music, TV, Movies, Podcasts or Radio. What is the problem, does the video need to be converted to a suitable format? If so, what is this and how do I do this? I'm a new iTunes and iPod user so I would really appreciate any solutions or advice to this problem.
ARG!! me too! I have Widnows Vista as well!! PLEASE!!!! if you EVER find out how to fix this... tell me! I have a video I downloaded from You Tube and it's in the ".flv" format! Apple reads .MP4 along with many others... but this might be a type it doesn't support! so if you ever found out how to fix this.... TELL MEEEE!!!!

My iphone4 will not connect to my network. My iPad and my wife's iPad and iphone4 all connect to my network. I have tried the solutions in Apple trouble shooting site. I even tried the freezer option. Still no connection. The "wheel" turns for 2 secOne then stops without connecting. Anyine have a solution to this issue?
I have an AT&T contracted iphone 5. Cannot send mms to anyone but other iPhone users. If you search the Internet, you'll see that the problem is everywhere...both the carriers and Apple are actling like the problem belongs to the other, or feigning any knowledge (which is kind of funny since the no MMS thing was in an ios6 beta that was released awhile ago, so I KNOW apple knows about it). No, I'm not running a beta (obviously, I just got my iphone 5). Awesome. Have a great camera on this thing, but cannot send OR receive MMS from anyone other than other iphone users. Gotta love it.

I test some Nvidia graphic cards that support AGP 8X and test them in 3d mark 2001 (with AGP 8x and 4x) and I have not seen any difference on this 3d mark version. I know that AGP 8x is 2.1 GB/s and AGP 4x is 1.05 GB/s but the differece of them

My early 2008 iMac uses OS X 10.7.5. Yesterday, I tried downloading Mavericks. The iMac froze up. When I go it running, I could not find the download. Now, when I try downloading anew, the iMac will not do anything. I have checked Launch Pad, and
