Trouble inserting audio clip into sequence (CS5)

I'm running Premiere Pro CS5 on Win7 x64.  I have an MP3 audio clip that I've selected a sub-clip from, as you can see here:
When I click on the insert button, everything to the right of the insertion point on the timeline is pushed to the right, as if the clip were inserted, but the clip doesn't show up anywhere (I've scrolled up and down through both the audio and video tracks), as you can see here:
I've done this many times beofre without any problem.  What am I doing wrong now?
Thanks for your help.

Glad I could help.

  • Inserting Audio clips.

When I insert Audio clips into the timeline and then preview the timeline all i hear is a BEEP BEEP BEEP...etc Bare with me I'm a newbie to MAC and FCE.

    Hi,
I am having the same problem you were and I am also new to MAC and FCE. Do you mind guiding me through what I need to do to "render all"? I would greatly appreciate it.
    Thank you!!!

  • How do I join multiple (short) audio clips into one single long audio clip in Premiere Pro CS5?

    Hello,
The question is in the title but I'm wondering how I can join multiple (short) audio clips into one single long audio clip in PP CS5.5.  I put all my short clips right next to each other and selected all of them to see what options are available by right clicking and using the toolbar options at the top.  The closest that I got was to nest the sequence, but that's not what I really want.
I'd like to merge all the short clips into one single (long) audio file to use under the video.
Thoughts are welcome and  greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    -Melvin

O.K. This is kind of fundamental and you will need to learn up on this fully ...but for now...
Make sure you have the WAB ( work area bar )covering the length of the audio clips. ( You do not need to select them)
Go to the File Menu> Export Media
You will be given all the Export Options.  Choose Wave File
Select option for Export Work Area.
Choose where to export the file to ( HD location)
    follow your nose from there....

BTW - Why are you taking the audio to Audition anyway? What are you going to do to it.

  • Inserting clip into sequence: aspect ratio adjustments

I just made this page Aspect Ratio Adjustments available to whoever is curious to know what is the rational behind the values of +Aspect Ratio+ and Scale evaluated by FCE whenever it inserts a clip into a sequence.
This was inspired by Michael in his thread Still Photo Aspect Ratio Confusion: the topic is a bit complex to be handled with a Q&A approach. So I tried to summarize the results of various tests I made, with 3 examples showing step by step what logically happens in FCE in this process (what really happens... is a different matter). All results were tested in FCE 4, but this doesn't mean there are no errors or misinterpretations. So any comment is really welcome.

    Thanks Martin,
if you have any suggestion to make it clearer or more complete, please...
BTW have you ever read the document Computer Industry Mass Confusion on Pixel Aspect Ratio?
From this document (that seems to me pretty complete and written by people that know what they are talking about...) and my experience on the FCE "aspect ratio adjustment" behavior, I would conclude that FCE does not use the "correct" pixel aspect ratio definition, whatever is, but the simplified one based on the 640/720 and 768/720 fractions (for 4:3 frames)...
    What's your opinion ?

I am in the process of preparing to test a sample from your brand and model camera in my Premiere Elements 8.0/8.0.1 on Windows 7 64 bit. I will have the results probably tomorrow morning.
For now I just want to put you through the drill that I do for anyone who says he/she is using Premiere Elements 8.0/8.0.1.
    1. Are you working from the 8.0/8.0.1 Update of the program?
    http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4653
    2. Do you have the automatic Background Rendering and AutoAnalyzer features turned OFF.
For Background Rendering option. See Edit Menu/Preferences/General.
For AutoAnalyzer option. Click on Organizer in the row below the blue active Organize header in order to open the Elements Organizer. In the Elements Organizer workspace, go to Edit Menu/Preferences/AutoAnalyzer Options and disable all the AutoAnalzyer options. To return to the Premiere Elements workspace from the Elements Organizer workspace, in the Elements Organizer workspace, go to File Menu/Exit.
Is your computer optimized in spite of the fact that  you have a high end laptop? I presumed so but always go to verify, no pile ups of preview files, conformed video and audio files et al.
Looking at the properties of your source media, I see:
    video compression = MPEG1
    audio compression = MPEG-Layer1 (.mp2)
    Frame Size = 640 x 480 (4:3)
    Pixel Aspect Ratio = 1.0
Frame Rate = 30 progressive frames per second
With properties like those you are sure to get a red line over that content since there is no project preset with that description.
But, your choice of the default NTSC DV Standard would have been mine also.
I am heading to try to get a quick look at the behavior of the sample video here in my Premiere Elements 8.0/8.0.1.
    To be continued.

  • How do I correctly insert a clip into the Timeline?

I have edited a clip in Sequence 2 and now wish to insert it into the Timeline and  the middle of my main movie in Sequence 1.
I copied the one in Sequence 2, opened Sequence 1,  and pasted.
The original movie on Track V1 moved to accommodate the new material, but none of the clips on v2 and v3 budged, throwing everything out of sync.
I could select all the tracks and slide them to the right before pasting, but that seems laborious and inexact.
I could find no previous post with precisely this question, nor could I locate an answer in Apple Help. Admittedly. my research, or my understanding of it, may be at fault.
As always, I would appreciate some help. Thank you.

    My error.
Tom had answered this in a previous post and I had inadvertantly been using the wrong keys. Should of course, be Shift - V
    Problem solved!

  • Making several audio clips into one

One of the systems that I've worked on had something called "heal" but I don't remember if it was on Premiere on not.
You simply several adjacent audio clips, right clicked and chose "heal".
Anyway I have several pieces of sound next to each other (to fill a hole) and I want to make the them into one clip.
    How do I do it?
And how do I paste into a space so that the space is filled with exactly the right length?
    Thank you,
    Michael

    Thanks for the reply.
I don't think it was Premiere.
I think it was ProTools ;-)
From what I understand, you'll have to export and reimport in that audio track and range (by turning off other layers and using your in/out work area bar)
With 5.5, you can send highlighted to Audition via right click, that may work for what you are trying to do, I haven't played with it enough.
I highlighted the sections, right clicked and chose "nest" and that worked ;-)
On your second question, do you mean video?  I don't know about "pasting" as a fit-to-fill, but you can fit-to-fill from your source monitor with 3 point editing+specifing the in/out on your sequence that you want filled.  The source in/out will stretch accordingly to fill your specified in/out.  Pay attention to what tracks are active.
What I wanted to do was just to paste a piece of audio to fill a gap.
The audio was longer than the gap so I just put it on a separate track, shortened it, and then dropped it into the hole. Not a big deal.
I'm really only playing at the moment and am just going to watch some of the Lynda Premiere CS 5 video.

  • Trouble inserting audio in Presenter 9

I'm trying to manually insert audio into the Presenter 9 pptx plugin as a single .wav file with embedded markers from a Sony Vegas audio export and getting an error message each time.
    Here is my process:
    >Presenter >Import Audio >Browse to .wav file >imports the file >OK (import complete) >Publish
    >error message: "Adobe Presenter cannot locate the audio clips for slides 1 through x."
This process has worked perfectly in previous versions of Presenter, but is not working now.
Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

You placing the audio file in that folder won't result in it working. Presenter must convert the audio, and place it in that folder. It should create a new audio file for each slide.
I've not seen placing markers in the audio files work before, not to say your method is not valid. I create an audio file per slide, and then number them accordingly (slide01.wav, slide02.wav, etc.). Then select the first slide to import the audio to and in the dialog that opens, select all the audio files. Presenter will pull in the audio files and assign them to the slides in sequential order.
That may be faster than fighting with the presentation.

  • Insert Audio Player into Submenus in iDVD

I am a musician seeking to create a audio-visual demo reel for myself using iDVD. To do this, I want to have individual submenus for different music clips, but it seems that the only way to insert audio into a menu is to have it set as background music. What I need is a Quicktime-style media player which will allow listeners to fast forward or scrub through songs, without listening through the entire track.
I also have no idea how to change the looping times of each submenu. In the event that it isn't possible to implement such a media player into a submenu (as I suspect it isn't), I need to be able to set the looping times for each submenu to be equivalent to the length of its assigned audio file.

    Welcome to the forums.
One option is to free yourself from the constraints of menu music and create "productions" in iMovie with either no video (a long black slide) or perhaps titles, lyrics, comments, ??? The audio track will be imported from Garageband (or?). Chapter markers will allow the listener to scrub/jump forward and backwards through a piece. You can have one or more compositions per menu page in iDVD. The listener would navigate to a DVD menu and choose a composition to listen to; jump forward; and exit back to the menu (just like with a commercial DVD).

  • How do I insert a clip into my Primary Storyline?  Every time I try to insert a clip the way instructions say, it goes into the title storyline (at top) instead.

I have been unable to find out how to select the storyline where I want a clip inserted.  Every time I try to insert a clip at the beginning of my project, it goes into the Title Storyline, not my primary one.

What does the instruction say? Are you pressing the Insert button? Are you using the W key? Are you tryin to drag into the storyline?
If you have a secondary storyline, make sure it's not selected when you do the edit.

  • Trouble loading audio clips after frame 1

    Hey, everyone!
The project I'm working on consists of a bunch of pages, each with narration.  Each page is a separate frame on my main timeline.  Due to all kinds of issues I was having, I am now loading in the audio via actionscript, rather than placing an instance of it into an object and going from there.
The issue I am now having is that when I tried to simulate a download, the movie would sit on frame zero until all audio was loaded, so it took a long time to get to my preloader, and by then the movie was just about finished loading.  It was suggsted that I uncheck "export at frame 1" on my audio files, but now I am getting errors that I am making a call to a possibly undefined method (random audio file name of choice).
If I am loading my my audio via actionscript, do I have to load it all in on frame 1?  And if so, is there any way for my movie to get to my preloader before trying to load things?
I have also tried setting my publish settings to export my classes on frame 2 or 3, in the hopes of it getting as far as my preloader before stopping, but no luck so far.
    Any ideas?

I'm not sure I understand that last part --
    Here's my setup:
I have my raw audio files, which are each linked to separate classes, named Frame1, Frame2, etc.  Those classes are then called from separate movieclips (which also contain some actionscript to cue things in the movie at the proper time, etc).
So, do I put every movie clip that contains the call to the classes (the movieclips that are actually used in the project) on frame 1 (or 2, or whichever frame I have it exporting classes from), or do I put all the raw audio clips on that frame, or do I just write in code to have random varables call in each class name...?

  • Premiere Pro shutting down every time I add clip into sequence.

"Sorry, a serious error has occurred that requires Adobe Premiere Pro to shut down. We will attempt to save your current project."
I've tried over 15 times, different clips, new projects. Every time I drag a clip into a sequence or even create a sequence from a clip Premiere is shutting down.
    How can I resolve this?

  • Final Cut Error when moving .mp4 clip into sequence

I attempted to move an .mp4 clip into the sequence and it says "General Error" before Final Cut Pro Force closes itself.  In the error details it says something about a thread error whatever that means.  It will play fine in the Quicktime Player but will not open in Final Cut or allow itself to be moved into the timeline.  Anyone know why this is happening?
The .mp4 is in H-264 format and I have Final Cut Pro 7.0.3

Editing h.264 without conversion is not supported in FCP. You need to convert your clip(s) to an FCP edit friendly codec. What codec is appropriate is a function of what the properties of the source h.264 clip are.
You can find the properties for your clip by clicking on the clip in the FCP browser so that it is selected, then typing Command + 9. Either report what the item properties are for the clip, or take a screen shot and post the screen shot here if it is easier.
The reason that the clip plays back in Quicktime is that quicktime is a player, not an editor.

  • Can you span an audio clip across sequences?

I know you can do this across scenes in Dreamweaver. I am wondering if it is any different.
I would like to take an audio clip as a source for background music, and have it play across all the sequences I have in my project, so that there are no jumps in the playback of the music. Is that possible?
    Thanks!

why not just leave the music out of your sequences. Then make a master sequence where you put all of your other sequences, essentially using them as nests. Then you can have the audio file play straight though all of them?
