Trouble Inserting Graphics in SharePoint Wiki Library page

I've set up a Wiki library page on a Sharepoint site and built half-inch square jpeg graphic icons to use as hyperlink "buttons" to open linked resources.   Inserted first
12 or so no problem.  After that, when I insert a new jpeg, sometimes the graphic appears and sometimes just the file name of the graphic in a little box.  Can't figure out why the graphic image itself does not always appear.
Any insights?

Hi,
From your description, when you replaced the icon of a hyperlink with a picture, it showed only file name instead of picture itself. If I misunderstood, please point it out.
We need more investigations for further troubleshooting:
Could you see the problematic picture in the Site Assets (assuming you choose to upload it to Site Assets when inserting the picture)?
Did you insert from computer or address?
Did you see the red x when it only showed the file name?
Please also capture the screen shot for the correct and incorrect display of the hyperlink picture.

  • Several vs One Wiki Library Page

In SharePoint 2010 site, I created a few Wiki Library Pages. I wonder if I should create only ONE Wiki Library Page and then create links to other pages. Or shall I keep it as it is. I mean create separate Wiki Library pages to separate logic? Does this
    impact performance?
    Thanks a lot!

do you want to use Enterprise wiki site template  and then wiki library in it?
or you using the wiki libraries in the team site?
if it is multiple site collection then i think communication between library will be issue. check the below.
Because an Enterprise wiki can generate
a high level of network traffic, you might find it necessary to configure a single site collection and a single, dedicated Microsoft SQL Server database. If the Microsoft SQL Server database is shared, users might experience slower performance

  • Trouble inserting a widget into my web page

    Hello,
I am using DW CS3. I got the html code for a widget (in this case a small banner) to insert into my web page. Here is the code:
    <div>Find <a id="flipkey_best_of_property" href="http://www.flipkey.com/pine-mountain-club-vacation-rentals/g1553621/">Pine Mountain Club Vacation Rentals</a> on FlipKey</div><script type="text/javascript" src="http://data.flipkey.com/widgets/jsapi/36780/fhb/7be5/"></script>
I inserted a Div Tag in my web page to contain the code (Class: Body; ID: apDiv2), and then pasted the code into the Div Tag. Though I was in Design View, the html code still showed as html code, not as the small banner I had hoped for. Can someone steer me in the right direction?
Note: I took a web design course 3 years ago and created this web page at the time. I haven't done any web design since then, and have forgotten many of the details, but I should remember as soon as someone points out my errors.
    Thanks!

  • Insert Pictures from SharePoint option missing from Wiki Page

    Hi,
I have a team site, which was migrated from SP 2010 to 2013.
In the site pages, I have added a wiki page. In the ribbon - "Insert" - Picture - "From SharePoint" option is missing.
I have checked various sites, which say publishing feature should be enabled. But in another site (also a team site i can see the "From Sharepoint" option available).
How to get the "Insert" - Picture - "From SharePoint" option?
    Thanks

    Refer this link
Here is a thread about it on msdn

    Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that you want to directly insert pictures inside a wiki page without the need to enter the picture's properties.
Per my knowledge, you can use javascript to bypass Edit Properties Page while uploading pictures.

    Hi there,
I want to display "modified by" and "modified date" on sharepoint wiki pages as a footer note.

  • Wiki: Insert Picture From SharePoint Disabled

Why can't I insert a picture into a Wiki page "From SharePoint" via the "Insert" tab on the Ribbon?
It says "This control is currently disabled."
(Just FYI, I have Silverlight 4 installed so I can drag-and-drop multiple documents for upload and the site is a Trusted Site).

    KurtVD
You mention something about WiKi vs regular page CEWP...
I have no problem inserting pictures into my WiKi rich text editor, but when I try to insert a picture or even a table into a CEWP rich text editor (or even if I try to do it with HTML code) as soon as I click OK there is nothing there.  The best I
have been able to with the CEWP on a regular site page is with HTML...I get a little black X box where the pic should be, but I do get the mouse over and I can get it to hyperlink when I click on it.
What is going on here?  I can insert pics and tables into a list if the column is using a rich text editor, but not on a regular site page.  I can only use the image web part which sucks because I cant make it hyperlink.
Is it my version of Internet Explorer?  Did I make some change that broke SharePoint 2007?  Did someone else make a change to the site that screwed this up?  WAS I NEVER ABLE to do this and am just now realizing that CEWP have this limitation?

  • Wiki home page missing graphics

When visiting the wiki main page, the four icons in the center of the page (the ones for My Documents, All Activity, Wikis and People) are missing. Safari reports that the graphic files are not found at their expected location of _wiki/coreclientbase/stylesheets/wikieditor/img/serverhome/serverhome_mydocumen ts.png (you can substitute the other icon names in at the end of that location.) I'm running OS X 10.9.5 and Server.app 3.2.1 on a Mac Mini server.
Has anybody seen this before and does anybody have any idea as to how to get the graphics to properly display? I've attached a screenshot for reference.
    Thanks,
    Steve

Actually, a cleaner approach to configure this work-around is to keep the redirect in a separate include config file just for the wiki webapp:
    sudo vim /Library/Server/Web/Config/apache2/other/wiki_redirect.conf
         RewriteEngine On
         RewriteRule ^/__wiki/(.*) /__collabd/$1 [R]
The (again as root) add the following line to the "includeFiles" array in "/Library/Server/Web/Config/apache2/webapps/com.apple.webapp.wiki.plist":
                            <string>/Library/Server/Web/Config/apache2/other/wiki_redirect.conf</string>
This means you need not to edit the original "httpd_corecollaboration_shared.conf" as suggested above.
Finally restart the the wiki service.

  • Advice needed for provider hosted web application - authentication and access to SharePoint document library

I haven't done SharePoint 2013 development with claims so I apologize in advance if my assumptions and questions are way out in left field.
I'm trying to understand SharePoint 2013 claims authentication for a scenario that involves:
A SharePoint provided hosted (web forms) app that will pull information and assets (e.g. PDFs) from SharePoint into the web page.
It will be a VS 2012 solution with asp.net.identity feature.
Security will be set for internal users, federated external users and forms-based external users.  Based on their security and (claim type) role it will define what information and assets that can be retrieved from SharePoint
I have looked through MSDN and other sources to understand.
This one helped with my understanding
Federated Identity for Web Applications and assumed that the general concept could be applied to forms-based identity for non-Federated external users .
    What I have now:
VS 2012 solution web forms application set to Provider Host with asp.net.identity feature and its required membership tables.
I can create new users and associate claims to the new user.
I can log in with a user from the membership tables and it will take me to a default.aspx page.  I have added code to it that displays the claims associated to a user.
For POC purposes I'd like to retrieve documents that are associated to this user from the default.aspx page.
This is where I am having trouble understanding:  Is my understand correct?
    Internal users
since they are internal on the network i am assuming that they would already have access to SharePoint and they would already be configured to what documents that they have available to them.
Federated external users & Forms authentication external users
it seems to me that the authentication for external users are separate from SharePoint authentication process.
changes to the configuration settings are necessary in SharePoint, IIS, web application.
I believe this is what i read.
claims processes (e.g. mappings) need to be set up in SharePoint
as long as external users are authenticated then things are ok b/c they would have claims associated to the user and the configuration in SharePoint takes are of the rest.
This statement bothers me because I think it's wrong.
So basically i'm stuck with if my understanding is correct: once a user is authenticated either by federated identity or asp.net.identity authentication that it should go to the provider hosted default.aspx page because the claim is authenticated and means
that it should have access to it and the SharePoint document library based on some claim property.  I could then write the calls to retrieve from a document library and SharePoint will know based on some claim property that the logged in user can only
    access certain documents.
It just sounds too good to be true and that i'm missing something in the thought process.
Thanks in advance for taking the time to read.
    greenwasabi

    Hi GreenWasabi,
i agree this is an interesting topic to discuss,
as you can check from the article, you may check this example from the codeplex:http://claimsid.codeplex.com/
when i thinking regarding this topic, its looks like an environment with multiple of realms,
from what you understand, its correct that all the authentication is based from the provider, so for example i have a windows live ID and internal ID, then when i login windows live ID, it will be authenticated using windows live ID server.
here is the example for the webservice:
    http://claimsid.codeplex.com/wikipage?title=Federated%20Identity%20for%20Web%20Services&referringTitle=Home
as i know, if you using this federated, i am not quite sure that you will need to go to the provider page literally, perhaps you can check this example if we are using azure:

  • Opening .xlsm file sin SharePoint site landing page

I'll begin by saying Hello to the forum. I have only very recently started using MS SharePoint within our company, having had no previous experience of it, so please expect quite a few 'beginners' questions coming this way over the coming months.
To manage our data maintenance processes, I have developed a set of form applications within Excel, using VBA to provide a user-friendly interface to the data requestor/providers within our business. Of course it is very difficult to provide any kind
of manageable/visible workflow solution using only Excel and so the business has made the decision to utilise SharePoint as the host.
We currently have a split between data objects where a workflow solution has been created for customer/vendor, using my form applications as the data entry tool. Materials however currently sit within a document library on a department SharePoint site.
The site was created by A.N.Other who has now left the business and I have therefore been tasked with managing it. Initially, this is as simple as updating and loading the .xls/.xlsm form applications to the document library.
And so, to my first problem. Where a visitor to the site navigated directly to the document library and clicked on an .xlsm file, they were presented with an error message that states:-
    <v:shapetype coordsize="21600,21600" filled="f" id="_x0000_t75" o:preferrelative="t" o:spt="75" path="m@4@5l@4@11@9@11@9@5xe"
    stroked="f"><v:stroke joinstyle="miter"><v:formulas><v:f eqn="if lineDrawn pixelLineWidth 0"><v:f eqn="sum @0 1 0"><v:f eqn="sum 0 0 @1"><v:f eqn="prod @2 1 2"><v:f
    eqn="prod @3 21600 pixelWidth"><v:f eqn="prod @3 21600 pixelHeight"><v:f eqn="sum @0 0 1"><v:f eqn="prod @6 1 2">The workbook cannot be opened because it contains the following features that
are not supported by Excel in the browser:</v:f></v:f></v:f></v:f></v:f></v:f></v:f></v:f></v:formulas></v:stroke></v:shapetype>
    Data Validation
    Sheet Protection
Would you like to try and open this file in Excel?
    <v:shapetype coordsize="21600,21600" filled="f" id="_x0000_t75" o:preferrelative="t" o:spt="75" path="m@4@5l@4@11@9@11@9@5xe"
    stroked="f"><v:stroke joinstyle="miter"><v:formulas><v:f eqn="if lineDrawn pixelLineWidth 0"><v:f eqn="sum @0 1 0"><v:f eqn="sum 0 0 @1"><v:f eqn="prod @2 1 2"><v:f
    eqn="prod @3 21600 pixelWidth"><v:f eqn="prod @3 21600 pixelHeight"><v:f eqn="sum @0 0 1"><v:f eqn="prod @6 1 2">I was able to change this so that the file automaticaly opened
in the client application by changing the settings for the documents library.</v:f></v:f></v:f></v:f></v:f></v:f></v:f></v:f></v:formulas></v:stroke></v:shapetype>
The problem is that on the landing page of our department site, we have a side navigation menu that links to some of the most frequently used files. If the visitor clicks on any of these files (which of course point to the same source
document) they again see the error message, and no matter how hard I look, I am unable to find the option to make the file open in the client application from here.
I was hoping that the experts here may be able to advise on where I may find this option, if available?
    Many thanks in advance.
    Danny

Excel Services is clearly out due to the VBA and Macro elements you've added.
Just to present an alternative point of view for this.  If you want to surface just ONE spreadsheet on a homepage, this can be done but it involves a slightly different route about it.
The Page Viewer Web Part might present an alternative for you.  I don't know if it'll disable the warning dialog boxes but it might be worth a try.  More info can be seen here
    http://office.microsoft.com/en-gb/sharepoint-server-help/page-viewer-web-part-HA010024045.aspx
If that one doesn't work, there is another trick in which we can try importing an earlier version of this tool from SharePoint 2003 (which oddly enough was actually better!) to see if that'll help.

  • Sharepoint 2010 add/edit form: Insert link from sharepoint disabled

    Hello!
I have a list with enhanced rich textbox field. I can click on Insert link, "from addres" is enabled, but "from Sharepoint" is disabled.
Is there a reason why is this button disabled? Field is enhanced rich textbox... Paste button is also disabled.
    Thanks

    Microsoft says
it is an issue but you can check
design this strange behavior on other occasions:
If we have a Web page in the root
of the site and insert a Web Part content "from SharePoint" will
disabled, but if this same Web Part Page
is in a library "from SharePoint"
is enabled What is the difference? I do not know.
Worse. If we insert the Web Part
to a page in the root of the site is
a list or library that has a link produced by a
workflow, an error as seen in
    http://www.danielroot.info/2010_07_01_archive.html
But the link works correctly if the
    page is within a library.
    Are these design issues also?
    Sorry for my English.

  • APP of type Wiki library VS Enterprise wiki subsite

What are the functional differences between adding new Subsite of type "Publishing >> Enterprise Wiki" , and just adding a new Wiki Library App to any site ? and when to use each ?.
i know that the subsite will create a new site and not just a new library as in the APP case, but i am asking about the difference in functionalities and features between them ?
    Thanks

here is a discussion on the difference, hope it helps you-

  • Create a new document in Sharepoint Document Library/OneDrive on iPad/Safari

    Hi,
My users are having trouble creating a new document from OneDrive in Safari on their iPads. The screen goes grey like its going to show the popup to select the new file type, but the popup never comes up. If they clear their cache, it works for exactly 1
time and then goes back to this behavior. I'm not exactly sure if it worked before and/or when it stopped working. The iPad I have tested was at the latest 8.2 version of IOS and my Sharepoint farm is an On-Prem install of 2013 with SP1 mark2. My WAC farm
    is also 2013 SP1.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Matt

    Hi,
I understand you are suffering the issue when create a document in Sharepoint Document Library/OneDrive on  iPad.
    According to the official article
https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/fp161353.aspx?f=255&MSPPError=-2147217396, the version of your iOS should be in the supported list. I guess the issue may start after you installed an update, and if there is any other version (low versions)
of iPads in your company, please use a different version device to test the issue.
Meanwhile, to determine whether the issue is related to your SharePoint environment, I suggest you just to register an Office 365 trail account, and test the issue with SharePoint Online. In case the same issue happens with SharePoint Online, the issue should
be related to your client device, and my next suggestion is to contact support of your device manufacture.
Once you need any help from SharePoint end, please don’t hesitate to come back, and we are always happy to support you.

  • Trouble inserting Flash in CS5.5

I just upgraded to CS5.5 and am having trouble inserting a Flash file into Dreamweaver. When I used CS4, I would open the html file that Flash created in the Publish process. I would copy and paste the top part of that file -- the <script> info into the header of my dreamweaver code. Then in the location where I wanted the Flash file to be I would paste the code from the Flash html that started with <!--url's used in the movie--> and ended with </noscript>.
However, the files I just created in Flash using all the same Publish settings as I used previously (I think!) look completely different. There is nothing like either of these sections that I previously used to insert the Flash code into Dreamweaver. Here is a comparison of the 2 Flash html files so you can see what I'm talking about.

    HELP!!!!!

OK, firstly, you can open the site an Dreamweeaver CS 4 and insert your flash video, but with CS 5.5 Adobe decided that Flash support should be something they should deprecate. And there is good reason.
Mobile devices don't handle Flash very well. iPhones and iPads simply won't play it and many of the Android devices make a video into a slide show with sound.
With CS 5.5 though, you can make an HTML5 document that understands the <video> tag. This will allow you to directly embed a video into a website without needing any plugin. There is a complete explanation and tutorial here:
Webmonkey: Embed Video in your web page using HTML5
From the article, here's the source:
    <video width="560" height="340" controls>
      <source src="path/to/myvideo.mp4" type='video/mp4; codecs="avc1.42E01E, mp4a.40.2"'>
    <source src="path/to/myvideo.ogv" type='video/ogg; codecs="theora, vorbis"'>
    </video>
That's it! You can add additional stuff, like an image placeholder and so on, but really, you're looking at four lines of code here. Now, with the Flash stuff, Adobe, which supported Flash, wrote all of the code for you. While that was easy, it was a lot more complicated and, of course, clients on your site had to have the Flash plugin to see the video.
Your doctype declatation is XHTML 1.0 strict. You will need to change your doctype to HTML5 thusly:
    <!DOCTYPE html>
    <html lang="en">
Then after your head tag, declare your character set:
    <meta charset="UTF-8">
Lastly, you will need to make sure that your server understands the ogg Theora MIME type. Download your .,htaccess file from your remote server and add the following lines to the end of that file:
    AddType audio/ogg .oga
    AddType video/ogg .ogv
    AddType application/ogg .ogg
    AddHandler application-ogg .ogg .ogv .oga
You may also be able to add these MIME types from your server's control panel.
    Then, you're finished with Flash—forever.

  • How to upload email from outlook to a sharepoint document library programatically.

    Hi ,
I have a requirement where I need to create a outlook plugin which will upload selected emails to sharepoint document library. I am able to hold email using by creating the object of outlook.item.  but could n't find a way to upload created com object
    in to sharepoint library.
I need to use webservice to upload email to the document library.
can some one please help me with this?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
Base on the description, you want to upload email from outlook to a sharepoint document library programatically.
We need to do it using Web Services, there's a purpose built web service here http://cecildt.blogspot.com/2010/10/upload-documents-to-sharepoint-2010.html‎
    for uploading documents.
The other alternative is using email enabled document libraries
