Trouble Installing Acrobat Update in Mountain Lion

I've tried installing the update, but I get an error message telling me the software has been changed. I haven't changed it, but i have installed Mountain Lion. Please help with the update. Unfortunately, I don't want to uninstall the software because I don't think I can find the serial number at this point. Thank you.

my macbook pro (with retina) has stalled whilst installing an update of mountain lion, the blue bar has stopped progressing, it has frozen and hasn't moved, I can't cancel the installation, I can't shutdown the computer, can't restart it, nothing...help!

    Thanks for sharing...
To the OP - I had a upgrade from the App Store 'stall' on me last week - I couldn't even Force Quit the App Store app. I ended up just powering down with the power button and when I logged back into the App Store, the update finished downloading in seconds and I was ready to begin installation.
Try that and see if it works for you...

  • Problem installing PSE 8 on Mountain Lion

Hi, I'm having trouble installing PSE 8 on Mountain Lion. It worked just fine on Lion, then I upgraded to ML, and it wouldn't open. I deleted and tried to reinstall PSE 8, and have not gotten beyond the "Progress" pane with a message that "a required component has failed to install correctly", with the error:
    "Adobe Anchor Service
    Error:
    Error 2."
I have tried a bunch of different things; running the CS cleaner tool, disabling my virus software, repairing disk permissions, restarting my computer, and deleting all Adobe files from these locations:
/Users/<<username>>/Library/Application Support >> The Adobe folder
    /Users/<<username>>/Library/Preferences >> Anything with com.adobe
/Library/Application Support >> folder named Adobe
    /Library/Preferences >> Anything with com.adobe
    /Applications >> Application files
    /Applications/Utilities >> The Adobe Updater
I've even created another admin account on my computer and tried to install PSE 8 there, but I still get the same error.
Any help to get this sucker installed is greatly appreciated!
    Thanks!

I looked a little more into fixing the issue, and it turns out that I missed the top level Library > Application Support > Adobe folder. Once that was deleted, my problem was solved.

I just downloaded the newest update for mountain lion. After downloading any restarting for installation, I got a message stating that the update cannot be installed due to an error. Yet when I check I have version 10..8.3 and safari version 6.0.3, which the update was for.  Does this mean that the update is iinstalled and the message was incorrect?

Good timing! Oh well, at least you shouldn't have to update again for a while. It will be nice kickstarting your Mac with the very latest System Update knowing any hiccups from 10.8.2 would have been ironed out if they were going to affect your workflow at all.

After updating to Mountain Lion I am having trouble printing on my wifi Epson Workforce 645. I keep getting an error message and my computer is set in the system prefrences to that printer

    Try resetting the printer queues:

iCloud isn't syncing them on your phone.  You simply added the email account to your phone and enabled calendar and notes syncing with the email provider, and the calendar and notes appear in the calendar and notes apps on your phone.  You can do this with Gmail, Yahoo and other IMAP account.  iCloud email is just another IMAP account, but syncs notes with Apple's iCloud server just as Gmail syncs notes and calendars with Google's server.
iCloud didnt' set up a non-iCloud account on your Mac.  When you check Mail in System Preferences>iCloud, it only creates an iCloud email account.  You can also add other email accounts to your Mac by going to System Preferences>Mail,Contacts,Calendars and clicking on the "+" sign on the bottom of the left sidebar.  If you added these other email accounts to your Mac before you upgraded to Mountain Lion, these were simply maintained on your Mac after you upgraded.

I am installing the latest update for Mountain lion (the iTunes update) . The screen went light gray, with no progress bars, and has remained that way for several hours. Help!

In this case, hold the Power button until your computer turns off, and then, turn your Mac on again. It looks like your computer got stuck during its restart, so it shouldn't harm anything on your computer

Try booting into the Safe Mode.  Shut down the computer and then power it back up. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the shift key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear. The boot up is significantly slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a directory check, and disables all startup and login items, among other things. If the system operates normally, there may be 3rd party applications which are causing a problem. Try deleting/disabling the third party applications after a restart. For each disable/delete, you will need to restart if you don't do them all at once. You can download from the Safe Mode.

  • Error code 104 while installing updates to mountain lion?

I am trying to perform the latest update of mountain lion, which consists of an iMovie and Java update, and I am recieving an error notice (104), saying that another update is already taking place. Oddly enough, when I went to add/remove programs in my Windows XP Parallels virtual machine, trying to remove a program results in a similar error notice. Does anyone else have this problem or know what's going on?

Exact same thing happened to my 3g. Ive tried reinstalling itunes, downgrading both itunes and iphone software and nothing has worked. My phone is useless now from taking an update. Perfect.

  • HT1199 need help installing the os x mountain lion update

need help installing the os x mountain lion software update

By default, ML no longer comes with the Java runtime preinstalled. I believe the route to enabling Java if you are going to need it is to run the Java Preferences app found in Utilities. It will inform you of Java's absence and offer to install the latest version and activate it. On subsequent runs, the Preferences app will allow you to fine tune how the runtime operates.
Note that the new default operation is for the applet plugin to be disabled. You need to enable it as needed and it self-deactivates if unused in awhile. Also important to note that Java comes in both 32 and 64 bit versions and you can set the preferred order. Default is 64-bit but I've had issues with some applets failing to run and have had to switch the order.

  • Do I need external hard drive to back up my iMac before update to mountain lion? My is OS 10.6.8

Do I need external hard drive to back up my iMac before update to mountain lion? My is OS 10.6.8.

First, repair your hard drive and permissions:
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
Second, make a bootable backup to an external drive using the Restore option of Disk Utility:
Clone using Restore Option of Disk Utility
      1. Open Disk Utility in the Utilities folder.
      2. Select the destination volume from the left side list.
      3. Click on the Restore tab in the DU main window.
      4. Select the destination volume from the left side list and drag
it to the Destination entry field.
      5. Select the source volume from the left side list and drag it to
          the Source entry field.
      6. Double-check you got it right, then click on the Restore button.
Destination means the external backup drive. Source means the internal startup drive.
Third, purchase and download Mountain Lion from the App Store. Be sure you meet the requirements for Mountain Lion:
    Upgrading to Mountain Lion
To upgrade to Mountain Lion you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Purchase and download Mountain Lion from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. Mountain Lion is $19.99 plus tax. The file is quite large, over 4 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
OS X Mountain Lion - System Requirements
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mountain Lion
             1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 7,1 or later

             3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             4. MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer) - Model Identifier 2,1 or later
             5. Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             6. Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             7. Xserve (Early 2009) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
To find the model identifier open System Profiler in the Utilities folder. It's displayed in the panel on the right.

This mini is operating OSX 10.6.8 and trying to update to Mountain Lion but upgrade stops and a black overscreen displays saying to power off and power on.  The upgrade fails.  What's the problem?

    Hi Fred,
Could be many things, we should start with this...
    "Try Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu at the top of the screen. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    5. Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214
Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)

  • Updated to mountain lion and now I get continual errors in PS!

I have the latest version of photoshop CC. Since updating to mountain lion 10.8.5 from lion PS CC doesn't work properly. Several of the tools gives me 'unable to use tool due to program error'. This is useless! I have installed the latest version of photoshop CC. It worked fine before. I can't use the eyedropper but the clone tool is fine. The brush tools are fine. Several of the other tools give this error. I can't see why some would work and others don't.
I worked fine in Lion so there is no reason it shouldn't work in mountain lion. It's so frustrating as it means I cannot use the software I've paid for. I updated via the adobe update manager as the CC desktop system doesn't work
    What causes this error message?
Everything is identical to what was there before - late 2011 imac with loads of memory and a wacom bamboo tablet driver with an older graphire tablet. No hardware has changed so it has to be a software error of some kind. The tablet driver is the latest one that works with the tablet I have and that works with mountain lion. I can't alter the version of that.

Try these steps to fix most issues: http://bit.ly/Troubleshoot_PS
I suspect either preferences restore or troubleshoot permissions with new Admin account will solve or give us more clues.
