Trouble installing DNG Converter 7.2

Hi guys,
Can get all the way through the install process for DNG converter 7.2, but when I try to launch it I just get this error message every time (and it reoccurs every time I click Relaunch or ignore). I'm on a MB Pro running 10.5.8.
EDIT: Was running a previous version with no problems, and 7.1 works as well. Problem only lies with the new 7.2 update.

Mayanbee,
Adobe has acknowledged that no version of the DNG Converter above 6.4 runs on Tiger 10.4.x.  That is now official, even though not all Adobe pages reflect it.  Initially, Adobe had only stated that no version above 6.4 would run on Power Macs, but later it was acknowledged that it won't run on Tiger regardless of CPU.

Correct, starting with DNG Converter 6.5, Mac OS 10.4 is no longer supported.  (The Adobe.com documentation needs to be updated.)
Most likely this is or will be the fate of the DNG Converter 7.x in reference to Leopard too.

  • CS4 will not open NEF files. I installed DNG converter and it did not help.

CS4 will not open NEF files. I installed DNG converter and it did not help. Also, I tried to just "update" photoshop and it did not work. It is a new camera (Nikon 1).

Yes, you need CS6. DNG Converter is just a standalone tool to convert RAW to DNG files which then may be possible to open in older versions of Adobe tools.

  • If I install dng converter version 8.3 so I can read raw files from my new sony a7 camera, will I still be able to read raw files from my canon 5d ?

if I install dng converter version 8.3 so I can read raw files from my new sony a7 camera, will I still be able to read raw files from my canon 5d ?

Ok. That explains 8.3. I know some want to stay with 10.6 because they have software or hardware that won't work on anything later.

  • Installing DNG converter in CS4 and Lightroom 2.o

I am using Photoshop CS4 And Lightroom 2 on a windows 63bit platform. I have upgraded my camera to a Nikon 5200 and need to upgrade the camera raw file. I have downloaded camera raw 7.3 and it went through an install process for Light rpoom. However, Lightroom and photoshop still does not open the raw files from the new camera. What am I missing?

CS4 and LR 2.x are not compatible with ACR 7.3. You will need to Upgrade to CS6 or LR 4 or both to use your camera's raw files.
Or, you can download Adobe's Free DNG Converter and convert your NEF's to DNG files that are backwards compatible with all versions of Lightroom and PS back to CS2 (if memory serves).

  • How do I install profiles 6.6 DNG converter ?

I downloaded  the 6.6 DNG converter and when I try to open it I get the following message."Error writing temporary file make sure your temporary files is valid. How do I check temp files and install DNG converter profiles?

See if right clicking on the DNGConverter_6_6.exe and choosing Run as Administrator makes any difference.
(i just tried installing on windows 7 and didn't get that message)

  • Photoshopcs6  mac 0sx10.9 unable to open NEF files, already installed camera raw  DNG converter 8.6

just installed photoshopcs6 running mac 0xs10.9 , installed DNG converter camera converter8.6 and still unable to open NEF files

Which nikon camera are the nef files from?
If you go to Photoshop>About Plug-In and click on the words Camera Raw, what version does it say?
Have you tried Help>Updates from within photoshop cs6 to the camera raw 8.6 plugin?
(then you shouldn't have to use the dng converter, unless your nikon is a very new model)

  • DNG converter works automatically for NEF but not NRW

I have this issue with the DNG converter and Adobe Camera Raw 6.3. I run Windows 7 64 bit, and use the DNG in my worklflow with a program called Image Ingester Pro, where the card is downloaded with three copies (original and two backups) on separate internal hard drives, put in folders and renumbered, and the DNG converter is applied to the original and back up #1, leaving me only dng files in those hard drives. The original raw format is saved to the back up #2.
This works incredibly well with NEF files from my D2x. No issues. Using the latest download of the converter.
I have a Nikon P7000 that shoots a raw file that is a NRW file, which Camera Raw 6.3 and LR 3.3 now supports with this latest converter. I run the same program, and the DNG converter fails to run. It leaves me with NRW files in all three hard drives. I can then locate the folder, open the converter as a standalone program, and run the converter, and it converts the files. I then have to search for the NRW files and delete them, leaving me the DNG files in these 2 folders.
The same issue happens on my laptop runing Windows Vista 64 bit.
I have tried every work around including deleting the download and doing a fresh download of the converter. Somewhere the program stops when it sees the NRW file. Has an additional prompt or step been added? Is it a new administrative permission, that does not occur with the NEF files? This is really perplexing. Nikon is continuing to use this file format with the D7000 and possibly other cameras. Do we have to wait until ACR 6.4 is released for a fix?

I installed DNG Converter 6.3 this afternoon to use with NRW files from my P7000.  It does not even recognize that NRW files exist, however runs fine with NEF files already on the computer.  My laptop runs Vista 64.
Also loaded Converter 6.3 on my desktop, running Vista 32.  Doesn't work with NRW files there either.

  • DNG Converter 7.2

How do I install DNG Converter plugin? I downloaded the plugin. its on my desktop but when I double click on it, it says: The following disk images couldn't be opened / DNG Converter 7.2. dm invalid checksum.
    Any suggestion?

I don't know why, but Adobe archives all old versions of DNG Converter on its website. In reality, there's no reason I know of why you shouldn't always use the latest one. The current version is 8.2, and is available here: http://www.adobe.com/uk/products/photoshop/extend.displayTab2.html#downloads
As Jim said, it's a stand-alone program. Assuming it downloaded without error, you execute it to install it. The installation extracts the program file itself, as well as supporting camera/lens profiles. I'm not sure how this works on the Mac.
To use the program, you can either open it and pick a folder of raw files, or you can drop a folder onto the program icon.
If you are using an old version of Photoshop, you may need to change the Compatibility preference from within DNG Converter to match the version of Camera Raw in use. Always use the latest version of Camera Raw available for your version of Creative Suite (e.g. 4.6 for CS3, 5.7 for CS4, 6.7 for CS5, 8.2 for CS6).

  • DNG Converter 7.1 won't open!

Can't open newly installed DNG Converter 7.1 on Tiger 10.4.11 MacPro,  PS11.0.2,  LR2.7.  Adobe's  DNG Converter 7.1 download page states that 7.1 is compatible with OS10.4. Works fine on MacBookPro running 10.5.8.  Any ideas?

Here's that link I just mentioned:

  • DNG converter no files

Have just installed dng converter 8.3.0.141 to convert raw files from a nikon d610.  When I go into the folder where the downloaded images reside, dng does not see them, folder is empty.  It does not see the images from the nikon d7000 either.  Anyone have any ideas here?  Using ps CS5, this version of PS and camera raw WILL see the images from the 7000, the images/files are there.

The DNG Converter works on folders not files so select just a folder.
In other words, when using the DNG Converter to convert a folder of raw photos to DNG format you should only single-click on the folder that the images reside in to only select it, rather than double-click into the folder where the files reside.

  • DNG Converter ver. 6.4 does not recognize NX100 .SRW files

I downloaded/installed DNG converter ver. 6.4 on my iMac with updated OS-X 10.6+. It installed okay, but it will not recognize my NX100 .SRW RAW files. They are grayed out, so unselectable.  The ReadMe file says the NX100 is covered with this version, so what am I missing?
As a side note, I also have a copy of Lightroom 3, and it has the latest ACR, so it can read the .SRW files, but I would like to try using the DNG converter so other software I have could be used for editing.  The DNG converter should let me quickly convert my .SRW files for this purpose, without having to first process them through LR 3.  Could this be the roadblock, having ACR also installed?
    thanks,
    Dennis

In addition, you can also use Lightroom to do the conversion.
You just select the files you want to convert and then click Library > Convert Photo(s) To DNG
In fact, you can select your entire library and convert them all to DNG.  You don't need to make sure to only select RAW files, because there is an option to "Only Convert RAW Files".  So, why not just select everything?
Using Lightroom to do the conversion also gives you the ability to convert specific individual files, instead of needing to select an entire directory, if that's what you'd like to do.

    Gracias.

Supongo que quieres decir Raw de 16bits.
Cómo descargas o transfieres los archivos a DNG? Utilizas algún software?
En Adobe Bridge se ven las imágenes .NEF?

  • How to uninstall Adobe DNG Converter

Please forgive me if this has already been asked; I tried searching the forums but couldn't find an answer.
I am on Windows XP SP3 and have installed DNG Converter 5.6.0.148. The installer ran ok but I don't see an uninstall link the Add/Remove Programs.
Is there some official way of uninstalling it?
    Thanks

Unfortunately the response from Mr. Hess is incorrect and uninformed.  The DNG Converter installer does install much more than the single executable in the Adobe program folder which Mr. Hess refers to.  If he were to use that single executable on a machine where the DNG Converter was not installed he would quickly find out that it would not work.  It relies on the camera and lens profiles that are installed (on a Windows OS anyway) in Application Data > Adobe > CameraRaw.  That Adobe has created an installer (which installs so many files) without an uninstaller is rather irresponsible (to say the least).  Instructions to manually delete the files and folders installed may vary, given folder naming conventions in various versions of Windows, but on Windows XP deleting Adobe DNG Converter.exe and the CameraRaw folder (as mentioned earlier) would delete all the files that are apparently installed.
The question was how do you uninstall the DNG converter.  The DNG converter (itself) is a single executable file for which no uninstall program is required to remove.  Even though someone may wish to remove the DNG converter, the profiles that you speak of would probably still want to be retained because they are utilized by Camera Raw and Lightroom if it is installed.  So I did not misspeak.  If someone wants to remove the DNG converter, all they have to do is delete it.

  • Can anyone use DNG Converter 8.3 with ARW files?

Just from installed DNG Converter 8.3 on my MAC running Mavericks and it installed and runs OK.  Problem is I wanted to convert Sony ARW files to DNG from my A7R.  Adobe states support for A7R but when I select a directory containing ARW files they are all greyed out.  Anyone got this to work?  Am I doing something stupid?

It does recognize all raw files up to the latest group of cameras, but the preferences must be set to create a .dng file that is compatible with your version of Photoshop.
Perhaps I misunderstood your original post - I interpreted it to say the DNG converter created .dng files, but they were not readable by Photoshop.

  • Hi,  I've just purchased and installed an upgrade from Lightroom 4 to 5.  It doesn't seem to handle raw files authored with a new Nikon D750 camera.  I spoke to the sales rep about this and he gave me a link to the 8.6 DNG converter page with instructions

Hi,  I've just purchased and installed an upgrade from Lightroom 4 to 5.  It doesn't seem to handle raw files authored with a new Nikon D750 camera.  I spoke to the sales rep about this and he gave me a link to the 8.6 DNG converter page with instructions to download.  8.6 only works with Mac OS 10.7-10.9, according to the page.  I'm running Yosemite, Mac 10.10.  Please can you tell me my options?  Lightroom 4 worked beautifully with my older cameras' raw files so I would like to continue using the application.  What should I do?  How soon will Lightroom 5 be able to deal with raw files from a D750.  Many thanks, Adam.

Until the next version of Lightroom is released, you need to use the DNG Converter version 8.7RC to convert your RAW photos to DNG and then import the DNGs into Lightroom.
