Trouble installing Flash Player 11.8.800.94 on Macintosh
I have had repeated trouble installing Flash Player 11.8.800.94 on Mac OS X 10.7 (Lion) despite following every step listed in the Macintosh Installation Help guide: uninstalling previous versions, turning off anti-virus protection, etc. Each time I get a warning message for both Safari and Firefox attempted installations as follows: "Error: General installation error." The only solution seemed to be to reinstall an earlier version: 11.7.700.225.
Any suggestions?

If you're not comfortable with terminal commands:
Download the offline installer here (right click and "Save as")
Quit all browsers
Go to: MacHD/Library/Internet Plugins... and if the Flash Player.plugin is still there "trash it".
Then go to: Mac HD/Library/Application Support/Adobe and "trash" the Flash Player folder if it's still there.
Empty the trash.
Mount the DMG and run the installer
Relaunch Firefox and it should work

Installing Flash Player 11.8.800.94 via GPO not working properly
Hello,
i've installed Flash Player 11.8.800.94 via GPO.
Installation works fine, but there is no flash player available in Firefox or Internet Explorer.
Deployed both Flash Players.
Tried to reinstall Flash Player 11.8.800.94 for Firefox, but it's still not active.
Windows 7, 64bit
Greetings,
MichaelHello Comvel.
RE:
Hello,
i haven't fixed it yet.
I've deployed the last few version of flash player without any problems.
I haven't found any new things in the admin guide.
The plugins don't show up in both browsers. I can't enable them.
On the most importent clients, i've installed flash player manually.
I know it has been a few months since your post but, I was wonderingif you were able to find a solution for this that didn't involve manual installations. I've recently deployed 11.8.800.175 and am running into the same problems. Some work stations are just fine. But others, (both windows 7 and xp, all IE8) are not working. When navigating to a site like youtube, theres a banner that says update is needed. When you go to manage add-ons there is no shock object/add on. -
Installing Flash Player 11.8.800.94
I have been trying to install Flash Player 11.8.800.94 for weeks. Everytime I install the install bar stalls out around 52% and I get an error message.
I've uninstalled 11.7.700.225 and tried again. Still the same results. Checked Flash install site (Adobe) followed instruction and
still the same.
Could someone help me out.
I'm using a Mac Pro, 2.66 GHz Quad-Core Xeon. OS X 10.7.5Hi HJMann42.
Seems to me that the download is being blocked by a firewall or something.
Try installing using this archived zip file.
http://download.macromedia.com/pub/flashplayer/installers/archive/fp_11.8.800.94_archive.z ip
1. Extract the zip
2. Navigate into 11_8_r800_94
3. Run the uninstaller - "uninstall_flashplayer11_8r800_94_mac.dmg"
4. Run the installer - "flashplayer11_8r800_94_mac.dmg"
Hope that helps!

Try uninstalling flash player using these directions. They
were posted by BWolfe from Adobe in another msg..
ONE: Identify possibly leftover Flash player bits
a. Open C:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\Flash folder.
b. Download the latest FP uninstaller from
http://www.adobe.com/go/tn_14157.
c. Run the uninstaller. If you get a notice saying you need
to reboot, then reboot.
d. Look at C:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\Flash folder.
e. Does any file ending in .ocx remain? (flash.ocx,
flasha.ocs, flash9d.ocx etc...)
e1. If no, then you don't usually have any leftover locked
bits.
You're done with this part of the problem, go to the Adobe
home page and see if you can install the latest version of the
Flash Player.
e2. If yes, then that remaining .ocx file may be locked.
Right click it
and select properties and look at the version tab.
What is the version number?
f. Is the version number Flash Player 9.0.16.0 or earlier?
f1. Use the uninstaller instructions from this technote:
http://www.adobe.com/go/4da116d3
-- section "Flash Player 9.0.16.0 and earlier"
-- DO NOT re-register the uninstaller. ONLY do this
UninstFl.exe part.
Yes, you'll need to know how to use the command line to do
this. If you're not
comfortable with that then take your machine to someone who
is!
g. Is the version number Flash Player 9.0.28.0 or higher?
g1. Use the uninstaller instructions from this technote:
http://www.adobe.com/go/4da116d3
-- section "Flash Player 9 (9.0.28.0) and later"
-- DO NOT re-register the uninstaller. ONLY do this
UninstFl.exe part.
In both the D and E sections above you'll need to use the
specific name of the control that remains
in the C:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\Flash. So if you had a
stuck flash9b.ocx[DJM1] in the folder
and version was 9.0.28.0, your uninstall command would look
like this:
UninstFl.exe -u
c:\windows\system32\Macromed\Flash\Flash9b.ocx
That said, if you have trouble running these commands it
really is necessary to find someone who knows how
to use the command line, either a friend or a local
professional. Or spend some time learning about the
command line yourself.
h. RERUN the uninstaller you downloaded earlier. This should
get rid of the remaining (now unlocked) .ocx file and fix any
registry keys associated with it.
ALL of section "ONE: Identify possibly leftover Flash player
bits" is important. BUT this locked bit problem only happens on
maybe one out of 50 machines. So most people with installation
problems such as this are not going to have locked bits. -
Is there any point in installing flash player 11.8.800 +
I keep getting an invitation every time I reboot to install an update of Adobe Flash Player 11.8.800 16.9 mbs into my Dell vostro 1500 laptop in the U.K. with Vista.
I have tried to install it but it always fails to complete installation. I can find no information as to whether installing this update will be of any value, as I rarely use Adobe, and when I do everything works ok, so what on earth is the point of these habitual updating invitations? Will I suffer in any way if I just ignore them because they will not download.
Also with the invitation it also indicates it will install McAfeesecurity scan plus. What the hell is that? What has it got to do with an Adobe flash player. I did have McAfee securty a long time ago but found it poor compared to AVG so i now have AVG installed paid for till 2014 and do not want to go back to McAfee.Anyway I understood that if you have any virus security system, you should not attempt to install a a rival virus security system because they are likely to interfere with one another so increase your chances of getting a virus. So why am I being advised to install this with the Adobe flash player that I keep being invited to install. It all sounds like a big scam to me? Can someone please enlighten me. Thanking youwamibo wrote:

Do you get any error messages when trying to install?
Anyway, try the offline installer from http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/installation-problems-flash-player-windows.html#mai n-pars_header (under the heading Progress bar hangs...).
As for the bundled 3rd-party software, the offline installer does not contain any. -
Trouble installing flash player
I had a problem with
installing flash player. Every time I went to view a video it asked me to download the latest flash player. I did and the same message kept popping up. I finally went to the forum to look for help and voila! Problem solved. I went into my tools section of the tool bar and clicked on manage add ons. As it turned out my flash player was DISABLED. Once I enabled it, it WORKED!!!
MaryFirstly, this is in the wrong section. Secondly, how is this a question? Thirdly, why did you register to post this? xD

Trouble installing Flash Player 10.1
When installing Flash Player, I receive an error Unable to Register and the installation stops.
I have run the uninstall program, rebooted, and tried to rerun the installation program with the same results.
I am running XP-Pro-SP3 and Explorer 8. Any ideas, or do I need to go straight to support?First, make sure that you run the installer under an Administrator account.
If the error persists, you may need to go through the procedure outlined at http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/494/cpsid_49419.html -
Trouble installing Flash Player 9
Hi, I am trying to install Flash Player 9 and having a hard time. I have uninstalled 10 and downloaded the archived folder for nine. when I try to install 9r124_winax.exe it starts to install and then I get a popup that tells me it is not the most current version and that I can go to Adobe to get the most current one. The only option is to click OK, then the download stops. I don't want version 10 as it freezes a web page I need for school. Is there anyway I can work around this popup page and get version 9 installed. Thanks
I think the problem you are having is because you already have a Flash Player installed. You will need to uninstall Flash Player 10 from your machine before installing Flash Player 9. To uninstall Flash Player grab the uninstaller for your operating system from http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html. Note that running this uninstaller removes all Flash Players from your computer so Flash will no longer work in any browser until you install a new Flash Player for that browser. Adobe has seperate installers for Internet Explorer and FireFox/Safari.
Once the uninstaller finishes you can install a new Flash Player. Get the Flash Player you want from http://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/downloads.html, be sure to run the installer for the browser you are using. Note you should close your browser for the whole process of uninstall and install.
Good luck.

Why am I having so much trouble installing Flash Player 17?
Hello,
I have installed and updated Flash Player since 1999, but never with so much trouble as with the latest version- 17.
My pc runs Windows 7 64-bit with Internet Explorer 11. I have tried all the troubleshooting steps listed on the Adobe website with no luck.
I am logged in as administrator, but when I go to a website the permission message pops up at the bottom of the page, as normal after updating,
"This webpage wants to run the following add-on; ' Adobe Flash Player' from Adobe Systems Incorporated'.
Whether I click on Allow or click on the dropdown and click on Allow for all websites, does not matter. It will not work and the permission bar stays up.
Can somebody please help??
Thanks,
DakeI replied to another instance of this post (Why am I having so much trouble installing the latest version of Flash Player to use in IE?). Locking this one.

Trouble Installing Flash Player 11
I have tried a number of suggestions and nothing seems to work. I am left with my programs not showing FP installed and my control panel/programs showing it is. I never had a problem with the old flash player. Could someone please help an old man?
Thank you. That seems to have taken care of it. It tells me that it is installed as 11.8.800.94 with active x something. I just turned the Active X filtering off and downloaded again. Still doesn’t show up in programs but has its own logo on Control Panel. Thank all of you for the help.
