Trouble installing HP Deskjet 722c on Windows 7 64-bit on a network

Hi,
I have a Windows 7 64-bit system and am trying to connect to an HP Deskjet 722c through a home network. My other Windows 7 PCs can connect and print to this printer (it is shared on the network via an old WinXP box) but when I try to install the printer on my 64-bit machine, it says it is trying to download an update and it fails to do so. Please help!

Hello fladavpam,
Sometimes it can be tricky to share a printer from XP to 7. Check out the following links for instructions on how to do so:

  • How do I install HP Deskjet 5700 on Windows 7?

When trying to install I got an error message saying my computer's Operating System is not supported.

    Hi Redbone7.
I understand you're looking for instructions on how to install your Deskjet printer now that you have a new hard drive. I'd be happy to help you with this!
In order to find you the right drivers though, I do need to know which model of Deskjet you have and if you're using Windows or Mac. Once I know those two pieces of information I will be able to post back with either a link to the drivers or a link on how best to install your printer.
I look forward to hearing back from you, have a great day!!

Hi Everyone, The driver is already built into Win 7. Follow the instructions below to install the proper driver. 1. Plug in the USB cable from the printer to the computer.2. If you have previously ran the Windows update your printer should be installed using the driver included in Win 7. If it doesn't update with a correct driver continue with the steps below.3. Open Devices and Printers4. Click Add Printer5. Click on Windows Update6. When the update has completed scroll down to HP on the left hand pane, and then select HP Deskjet 3840 Series from the list of available printers.7. • Error message while installing "FDM Web Application" on windows 64-bit

I am unable to install "FDM Web Application" on a 64-bit windows platform. I have an error message indicating that 64-bit components for HFM & EPMA cannot co-exist with 32-bit components for HSF/FDM. Is there a way to install it? From the packages I downloaded, I have installed EPMA 64-bit. So I presume I'll have to uninstall EPMA 64-bit and re-install EPMA 32-bit?
    OS: Windows Server 2003 R2 Enterprise x64 Edition SP2
    Oracle WebLogic 9.2 MP3 32-bit
    Thanks in advance.
    Kind regards,
    Andy

    Hi,
What version are you trying to install, as the latest release 11.1.1.3 should now support it.
    In the 11.1.1.3 Readme - http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12825_01/epm.111/readme/epm_1111300_readme.html
FDM now provides support for 32-bit binaries in a 64-bit environment. (though that was from version 11.1.1.1)
Though saying that FDM can only run in IIS32bit mode, if you have installed EPMA 64bit it will have set IIS to 64 bit, so uninstall 64bit and use 32bit.
FDM supports 64-bit servers running in 32-bit emulation mode only. Because IIS cannot run under 32-bit and 64-bit mode simultaneously on the same server, Financial Management and FDM Web components cannot be deployed on the same 64-bit server. All other components can be deployed together.
    Cheers

I have a brand new install of Windows 2012 Server Standard Edition. I am trying to get SQL Server 2012 installed on it, but have been having a lot of trouble.

  • Unable to install printer Deskjet 6122 on windows 7 (64bit)

I bought a new HP Pavilion Model HPE h8-1237c running Windows 7 Professional (64bit). I’m not having any luck at trying to install my old HP Deskjet 6122 printer. Drivers on disk and newer downloaded ones are not compatible with the 64 bit OS. HP suggests installing drivers for Deskjet 990c as alternative. That didn't work either. This new computer only has USB ports and not the old parallel one like my old Pentium 4 Windows XP computer. The printer does have a USB hookup, but windows doesn't install the printer as plug and play since there are no drivers available. I've tried installing it running Windows Virtual PC in XP Mode. The printer install software runs fine in the virtual mode until it gets to the "print test page." At that point the install fails to find any printer at which time it completely reverses the install.  Pffft ! !
Help please!      I've been going crazy for two days to solve this problem. I haven't even begun to attempt installing my trusty old HP Scanjet 5530 flatbed scanner. I suspect it will be a similar nightmare as is this current printer dilemma.
Am I destine to have to buy new hardware that’s compatible with windows 7 (64bit)?
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

The Deskjet 6122 driver should work fine on Windows 7 using the DEskjet 990c driver, but many folks (myself included) have been having problems getting the Deskjet 990 driver to download from Windows Update.
You have probably already done the steps here, but if not start with that. If the HP Deskjet 990 does not show up after clicking on Windows Update as shown in step 8 and you get a message that "Windows Update was unable to find a list of devices, try again later" then see the solution here.  If the problem still exists then you can download the driver from the Microsoft Update Catalog site, but this is not very easy to use.  If you need to use the catalog site post back here and I will write up some directions.

  • Having trouble installing PS CS5 Extended in Windows 8.1

    Greetings:
I installed this product previously on another computer that ran Windows 7.  I had issues at the time and was able to resolve them, one of which was a bad serial number.  I just purchased a laptop with Windows 8.1 and am unable to install this product.  Here is what I did:
    - Disabled Virus program and shut down all other programs
    - Started the installation from a CD
    - Went through the normal process, serial number, log in info, etc.
    - I selected only the CS5 64 bit version and the region (US),
    - After about 20 seconds, a pop up appeared and it asked me to install the installation disc.  I did so and was not able to move the installation process forward.
    Any suggestions?
Thank you in advance for your help.
    Gary

    Hello Mylenium:
I did as you suggested and it worked much better.  Very smooth process.
    Thank you for your suggestion.
I do have another problem, this time with the serial number and I think I
may have to call Adobe on this one.
I purchased this license from someone on eBay.  He assured me the license
number was good.  The CD came in a case with the original serial number
printed on the cover.  When I installed CS5 on my other computer, I was
having similar troubles and spoke to one of the support people.  He gave me
another license number that worked.  I have since uninstalled CS5 and did
not deactivate the license.  Perhaps that is the problem.
    Your thoughts would be appreciated.
Thank you again for your help.

  • Installing HP Deskjet 820Cse on Windows 7

My HP DeskJet 820Cse has been a GREAT reliabile printer for many years.   Unfortunately, I cannot get it to run on my Windows 7 computer.
Since my computer doesn't have a serial printer port, I'm using a serial to USB connector/adapter.  I'm wondering if this is the problem.
W7 recognizes and installed the printer but when I print a test page, it remains in the queue.    I love this printer and don't want to retire it.  Please help !

    Hi V1222C,
    Welcome to the HP forums!
I see you have a Deskjet 820Cse that doesn't seem to want to work with your Windows 7 PC. I'm sorry to hear this but I will certainly see what I can do to help
It's entirely possible its the connector/adapter that you're using is the problem, and the only real way to test that would be to try installing the printer on another computer. Do you have another computer you can test it on, or perhaps a friend that will allow you to test on their computer?
If that's not a possibility to determine where the issue is stemming from, I will recommend that you make sure all your Windows Updates are done (as that's where the driver comes from) and try installing the printer again and see what happens.
You can also download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor for some further suggestions to try (hopefully, if there are any to be made).
If it's still not working after that, I may have to suggest that you start looking into a newer printer to replace the old work horse You can contact HP Tech Support and see if they have anything available in a trade in program for you as well!
Hope this helps and that you have a great rest of the week!

  • Trouble installing iDS 5.1 on Windows 2000

I'm having real trouble getting iPlanet Directory Server installed on a Windows 200 Server machine. Every time I install it, no matter what options I choose, I get this series of popup boxes at the end:
    - Setup is unable to store configuration data in the LDAP directory
    - Unable to create Administration Server configuration
    - Could not authenticate ldap connection, "Unknown error"
    - Unable to set ACI in Configuration Directory Server
I've spent quite a bit of time looking on this Forum, and the only suggestion I've found that I can't implement is to remove all the iPlanet-related entries from the registry. Every time I try to delete the associated keys, it gives me an error.
I think the DNS settings are correct... I have a static IP address, I have a DNS server specified... The options "Append primary and connection specific DNS suffixes" and "Append parent suffixes of the primary DNS suffix" are selected, and also "Register this connection's address in DNS". I don't have a WINS server defined, but I wouldn't think that would make a difference.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Jeff

    Hi Jeff,
I've experienced the same problem with my Windows 2000 box. All the normal spots were configured for correct DNS and everything functioned great on the box, but the Admin Server couldn't be started. Here's
what you'll need to do, to set the Hostname on the
    Windows 2000 box.
It's in a seperate area then you would setup the TCP/IP properties, which is probably why it is commonly missed.
    1. Right Click on "My Computer" and select "Properties"
    2. Click on "Network Identification" Tab
    3. Click on "Properties" button
    4. Verify that the correct Computer Name is listed.
    I have "happysoul".
    5. click on Properties
    6. This is where the Domain Name suffix is specified.
I have "sfbay.sun.com", which wasn't there by default.
This is for my box "happysoul.sfbay.sun.com". Once setting this, it may ask you to reboot and from there
you can install the iDS server and the Admin Server will install correctly.

  • Trouble installing iTunes 10.7 on Windows Vista

Whenever I install it, I get this message:
"iTunes was not installed correctly. Please re-install".
Ive done this about 10 times. If re-installed, rebooted the computer, then rre-installed again.
My latest approach was to uninstall it from my computer, then attpempt to install the new version.
    Still no help.
I don't know if there is a glitch or if something is wrong with my computer, but apparently alot of windows users are having simiar issues?
Now, iTunes just completely does not work and I have no way of updating my ipad to iOS6.

What's the precise text of that message, please? (There's a few different ones I can think of that you might be getting.)

I need help installing sql developer.
    I am running Windows 2008 R2.
I tried installing the 64 bit version, and when it asked for the path to the JDK, it complains that it doesn't exists. Can someone PLEASE point me to which JDK I need to install?
I tried installing the 32 bit versionand it installs fine, but then gives me the error that it can't load AMD 64-bit dll on a IA 32 bit platform.
PLEASE HELP. How can I run SQL Developer on Windows 2008 R2?
Links to the exact versions of what to install would be very very helpful.
    Thank you!

The versions required are in the release notes.
If you install the 64-bit SQLDeveloper you need a 64-bit JDK.
If you install the 32-bit SQLDeveloper you need a 32-bit JDK.
If your operating is 32-bit, you need a 32-bit SQLDeveloper.
