Trouble installing Messages Beta

Running 10.7.3 but when i double-click Messages I get a error message. Tried to restart my mac and download the dmg again but without successfull results.
HELP?

In your Downloads folder do you still have the Messagesbeta.dmg  ?
If so try running it again (installer)

    Hi,
    It was never completely clear whether it was just hidden or whether Apple ran a download page for iChat 6.
    As the Download for Messages Beta was separate and "Deleted" iChat it would seem it would be another download for iChat 6.
    iMessages will not function as it is only an Account type within Messages and iChat 6 does not have it.
    Therefore messages on the iPhone will not sync to the Mac. (until you get Mountain Lion and Messages in that OS X version).
    Mountain Lion and it's full version of Messages will not sync the iMessages that have happened in between the 14th December 2012  (end date of Messages beta) and the Install of Mountain Lion if you decide on that route.

  • I'm having trouble installing CS6 beta;

    I'm having trouble installing CS6 beta; when I try, it says to close background processes - specifically Bridge, which is NOT open. In fact, I just turned the computer on and tried to install what was dowloaded last night. Any ideas?

    Are you on Mac or windows?
    If you check the Task manager in Win (CTRL+Shift+Esc), or the ForceQuit applications dialog (CMD+Opt+ESC) do you see any Bridge, or other Adobe applications running?

  • IMessages stopped working after installing Messages Beta!

    I installed the Messages Beta on my mac today
    tried sending iMessages, never worked
    whats worse is my iMessages on my iphone & ipad stopped working too!
    I can no longer send/receive iMessages!
    what is going on????

    @eggimage, it says you must be on 10.7.3 - your signature says you're on 10.7.2 - has that maybe got something to do with it?  Just a guess...
    I keep getting the "The server encountered an error processing registration. Please try again later." thing, even though my time is set automatically and my hosts file is correct and I'm not running little snitch or anything like that (only growl and drop-box) and my certficate store is fine too.
    Any ideas anyone?  Running 10.7.3.

    I installed Messages beta on my macbook pro and worked well but one day stop working and when i try to send an imessage appears "It has not been possible to send the message." Its has been like this for two weeks now. However, yesterday i went to a friend`s house and connected my macbook on his wfi`s connection and i was able to send messages again but when i came home messages stop working once more. Can you help me to solve this problem?????

    Messages Beta will use the iMessages and iChat ports
    More than likely it is about how you set up the ports to be open in the router for your computer.
    If it was using Port Forwarding they may have been pointed to on IP that the computer does not have now.

  • Messages Beta and iChat email/account

    Trying to install Messages Beta instead of using iChat.
    Now the iChat window is open as before but I need to log  into Messages. Trying to do so with the same email/password as iChat fails.
    Any ideas? Do I need to create once again another new email?

    Scott, the same is happening for me. After a lot of messing about I have got the OSX app to recieve messages sent to my Apple ID and 3 other email addresses. I have also set those email addresses in the iOS app and signed on with my Apple ID on that too. So messages sent to any of my mail addresses come to both devices.
    Messages sent to my mobile number only go to my phone even though it's the same Apple ID and my phone number is registered with that ID.
    If I send from OSx, because I have set the 'caller ID' to be an email address that both iOS and OSx can recieve, the reply goes to both. However, this was not the case for the first hour of use, so I'm wondering if there is some server problem at Apple as it started working properly after a while.
    To me there is one vital missing peice and 1 nice to have. Messages sent to your phone number should also go to your OSx app. The Apple ID ties them together so there is no reason why this shouldn't work. The nice to have is the ability to set your 'caller ID' to be your mobile number from the OSx app in case the recipient doesn't have your email address in their address book.

  • Messages beta: turn off Read Receipt

    When I first installed Messages beta, I enabled Read Receipts.  But I'm 99% sure that it's causing messages to appear as Read even when I'm away from my computer.  Perhaps this is a status issue, since I don't have it set to timeout.  In any case, I'd like to disable Read Receipts on the Mac, but I don't see it in Preferences or other menus.  Where could it be?
    I guess the solution would be to uninstall Messages beta and reinstall it.  But I bet there's a hidden pref somewhere.

    As I launched it it just asked for an Apple ID.

    Whenever I try to install on a iMac 10.7.4 I get this error
    Messages beta can't be installed on this disk.An error occured while evavaluating javaScript for the package.
    I have redownloaded the install files and I get the same error.

    Humm,
    At this point I would ask if you are having trouble with other Installs ?
    I would suspect your Installer app is compromised in some way.
    I would try  Running (Download and Installing) the COMBO version of the 10.7.4 update over what you have already.

  • TS2755 Messages Beta Crashes every time I try to open it. Lion on iMac totally up to date and tried downloading messages Beta again and installed..no go. help?

    I cannot seem to get Messages on my iMac to work at all.  Never had any app crash on opening.  Cant get to a menu of any kind to do anything with it as it crashes on opening.  help?  Dont know if Mountain Lion later this summer will fix or not?

    Could you tell me a few things please ?
    Were you using iChat before ?
    After Downloading and Installing the first time did you restart your computer like it said ?
    When you downloaded it again did you Uninstall it first from the Messages Menu (Back to iChat) ?
    Each time Apple have released a new OS the iChat application has also had a new version.
    Lion had iChat 6.  Messages Beta is called version 6.1 (it also shows as iChat in several places).
    It is likely that the non beta version will be a new numbered version.
    At this point try this one thing.
    Open the Applications/Utilities folder and find Activity Monitor and launch it
    In the list of apps and items running find IMAgent  (it will not have an icon as it is a system side support app for FaceTime and ichat/Messages).
    Select it then use the Quit button top left
    Confirm Force Quit.
    It will restart and appear near the top of the list again.
    Will Messages launch now ?

    i am having major trouble installing itunes. i had itunes working fine and i went to update it as it told me there was an update which i thought i did. i went on my laptop the next day and it said "itunes was not installed correctly error 7 windows error 998"
    i read a few articles on here but i am having no joy. i uninstalled itunes and reinstalled and that did not work. i also unistalled some other apple things cant remember the names sorry!
    i am not a whiz on a computer so really need some help please!!

    Installing, and uninstalling, applications never touches or removes the data.
    Clean out and uninstall all the apple programs and software thru Programs and manually.
    Might want to use Revo and CCleaner
    I always use manual standalone installers (and keep a couple backup versions)
    itunes 10.5 may affect iTunes media playlists, not sure, depends on what you have.
    A search of these forums will show some threads.
    I'd clean up vista, you need SP2 or later, and specific error message?
    I wonder as you arenot the first with a dell if maybe the OS or included software.
    Security programs like Norton and older versions of Kaspersky have been implicated.
    Also settings in IE that affect pop-ups and plug-ins.

    Then the installations process is aborted.

    Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from the following page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):

    To install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you downloaded.
    Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
    Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

    Did you know that in some cases, iMessage on your phone will have send message failures on both sides of the conversation when Messages beta is installed on your Mac? Messages doesn't even need to be running. As long as you have it installed and your computer is running, you'll get the send message failures. Happens to myself and two friends. Just tested this myself.

  • Can't open any apps downloaded from the internet after installing application loader update and messages beta

    I've run into an unusual problem recently. I think it it related to two recent software installs.The problem only started after i installed the new application loader.
    My issue : I'm unable to open application I downloaded from the web. I get the following error message below.
    Question: Has anyone else run into this issue and do you have a solution?

    P.S I haven't tried rolling back the lastest softwarte installs yet. I'm hoping I can avoid that.

    When I press cancel nothing happens. I can do nothing and it still won't load the program.
