Trouble installing Oracle 9.2.0.4 Prerequisites on RHEL4ES!!

Hello,
I am trying to install Oracle 9.2.0.4 on RedHat Enterprise Linux 4.0 ES with the help of this linked article.
I am having trouble with the installation of Pre-requisites packages. Since i don't have Oracle Metalink UID and PWD, i downloaded following packages from other various sources on internet:
compat-libcwait-2.1-1.i386.rpm
compat-oracle-rhel4-1.0-5.i386.rpm
xorg-x11-deprecated-libs-devel-6.8.2-1.EL.13.36.i386.rpm

xorg-x11-libs-6.8.2-1.EL.13.36.i386.rpm

  • Trouble installing Oracle 9i/10g on Vista

    Hi
I am facing trouble in installing Oracle 9i/10g on MS Vista. Am getting message "Oracle < Version > is incompatible to this version of Windows".
I am in confusion whether MS Vista supports Oracle products or am I doing anything wrong.
Please help me in solving this. Got strucked here.
    Thanks in advance.
    Buddha.

Vista has some serious architecture differences that Oracle is working on. The current 9i.10g databases won't work. I got around the error you say, but then the installer just bombs out.

  • Trouble installing oracle 10

Hi, I'm trying to install oracle 10 on a computer with Linux (CentOS).
    After performing the pre-installation.
When executing the instruction. / runInstaller, it generates the following error:
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: / tmp/OraInstall2011-02-02_05-14-48PM/jre/1.4.2/lib/i386/libawt.so: libXp.so.6: can not open shared object file : No such file or directory
I searched for a solution several forums but have not found anything yet, I hope I can help.
    Thank you very much.

    thanks Dude:
I had forgotten to make system setup, review the packages must be pre-installed, before running the oracle installer. I forgot as it had done previously but for oracle 11, then I got confused and let this pass as ready, I did not check that the packages were already installed.
Thank you very much for your response, it was just what I needed.

  • Trouble Installing Oracle Portal

    Hi all,
I am using the "launch.sh" file to install Oracle Portal after we deinstalled it yesterday.
The thing is the progress bar finished really fast and I got a message that says "The Oracle Portal schema user was not created."
I checked into the install.log file and see most of the error messages to be "Message file sp1<lang>.msb not found Error 6 ininitializing SQL*PLUS"
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

There is also a patch 1507768 for this problem. Hopefully you have access to Metalink where you can download this patch. Also on Metalink refer to doc. id. 131299.1 which details this problem and the workarounds.

  • Trouble installing Oracle Personal in Windows 7 64-bit environment

Hi, I just purchased Oracle Personal Edition and it does not install.
    Details:
    Hardware: Dell laptop, purchased 6/2011
    OS: Windows 7 Professional 64-bit
CPU: Intel Core i7-2820QM 2.30 GHz, 8 processors
    RAM: 8GB real, 16GB virtual
Hard drive available space: 119 GB on C: drive, 505 GB on D: drive
Product purchased: Oracle Personal Edition, 11.2.0.1.0 for Windows x64 (64-bit)
I originally had an instance of Oracle XE on this machine. I have uninstalled it with Windows Uninstall and followed that up with the following actions in Regedit:
    Deleted the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/ORACLE key.
    Deleted HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Services/Ora*
    Removed directories c:\Oraclexe and c:\Program Files\Oracle
    Rebooted.
I downloaded the two Oracle server files from the cloud, extracted the zipped directories, copied "2 of 2"'s contents to the "1 of 2"'s directory, and ran setup.exe
Oracle Installer started up. The first screen asked for my email address and whether I wanted to receive Oracle propaganda by email (no).
The second screen, Installation Option, asked if I wanted to 1: create and configure a database; 2: install database software only; or 3: upgrade an existing database. I chose option 1.
The third screen, System Class, asked if I wanted a Desktop Class database or Server Class database. I chose Desktop Class.
I clicked Next and Oracle Installer shut down without a warning message.
Does anybody have an idea of how I can install this software?

Yes, the purpose of this license was just to use Oracle for my own personal use. Downloading a copy of Enterprise Edition from OTN won't solve the problem; it's the same file as the Personal Edition file, and that file doesn't work on my computer. The installer prompts for the type of installation (Personal, Standard, Enterprise) around step 4 or 5 of the install, and I never made it past step 3. The problem is that the installer crashes without leaving any error message, which means I can't fix the problem. I have no way of knowing that the installer couldn't handle my computer configuration, but I do know that my computer exceeds the minimum requirements for an install. Someone at Oracle should consider it a BUG that the installer shuts down without any indication of the reason for the shutdown. I requested a refund not because the product has a bug, but because the installer didn't work. A product that doesn't install is a product that hasn't been delivered to the customer. This is a very, very basic problem that Oracle must fix.

  • Trouble!!! Installing Oracle 8i to XP Professional OS w/Pentium 4

I am having trouble installing Oracle 8.1.6.0.0 to my PC. I am running XP Professional and my processor is a Pentium 4. I have read previous responses to this problem and I did go in and change the symcjit.dll file to .old. This did help me a little as it allowed me to startup the Universal Installer, however, once I get up to the Installation Type screen and I select typical then click on next, it runs for a few seconds and then just closes out. I have retried several times but I get the same action. Does anyone have a solution to this problem. Thanks!

    Hello,
Oracle 10g/11g is not supported on Vista home basic or home premium and if for some reasons you are able to install, it won't be stable.
h4. You should consider upgrading to Vista ultimate or business as 10g is supported for these.

The issue was because I was installing Jdev in the same Oracle home “C:\Oracle\Middleware” after step 2 before applying the PS4FP. This corrupted the oracle_common inventory
A quick way to verify whether your inventory is corrupted is to check the following files:
    •     C:\Oracle\Middleware\oracle_common\inventory\ContentsXML\comps.xml (should be more than approx 2500 lines before patching)
    •     C:\Oracle\Middleware\Oracle_SOA1\inventory\ContentsXML\comps.xml (should be more than approx 1600 lines before patching)
