  • Unable to get SQL Server Agent to run after installing SQL 2012 Standard with SP1

I am unable to get SQL Server Agent to run after installing SQL 2012 Standard with SP1. Log message is as follows:
Attempting to load library 'xplog70.dll' into memory. This is an informational message only. No user action is required.
Failed to verify Authenticode signature on DLL 'C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL11.MSSQLSERVER\MSSQL\Binn\xplog70.dll'.
    Error: 17750, Severity: 16, State: 0.
Could not load the DLL xplog70.dll, or one of the DLLs it references. Reason: (null).

    Hi JFriedley,
According to your error message, there might three reasons for this issue.
xplog70.dll is corrupt, you need to check if you have any SQL Server running on same file version and same production
edition. If xplog70.dll is corrupt, you can copy it from the new server where agent is running fine to your problematic server.
Native client not installed properly. If you try applying any latest Service Pack or Cumulative Update then check if the SQL Server Agent can start, if that also doesn’t solve issue then try to reinstalling SQL Server Native client from SQL Server setup
    files.
There is a similar issue about error 17750, you can review the following article.

  • Unable to install SQL 2012 Enterprise on Windows 8.1 OS

I had installed SQL 2012 Enterprise on my Windows 8.1 and was running successfully. I faced some SSRS & SSIS Authentication issue. So i decided to uninstall SQL and re-install it. On doing so, i am unable to install it.
Wizard disappears from this screenshot onwards.
    Tried installing from Command Prompt.
    Setup.exe /q /ACTION=Repair /INSTANCENAME=instancename /IAcceptSqlserverLicenseTerms=true
    Still wizard disappears.

    Hello,
I guess un-installation of SQL server is not complete and there are fragments remaining.Have you made sure you have uninstalled SQL server from add remove program completely.Make sure no features related to SQL server are present there. Please remove setup

  • Installing SQL 2012 BI on a server with Exchange 2010

I would like to create a new SBS-type network ... and I know that SBS2011 is dead, so I am looking at moving into the new Server 2012 world.  I understand that Server 2012 Essentials has some really nice management and remote-access capabilities.
I definitely want to install Exchange 2010 on-premises and I know that it cannot be installed on Server 2012 Essentials, so I will have to deploy a second server running Server 2012 Standard.  Not thrilled, but I can live with that (I miss SBS already).
I am also interested in installing SQL Server 2012 BI because I understand my POS (Point-Of-Sale) vendor should release a new SQL-based option in 2013 and I want to anticipate that and be ready.
I should have 15-17 users on this network without heavy use - mostly file + print sharing along with Exchange-based email.  I do understand that Exchange takes up a lot of RAM, which is potentially a conflict with SQL Server, but I can put
8-12GB into each box.  (Each box has two dual-core 2GHz AMD cpu's.)
    So, my questions are:
Where should I best install SQL2012 BI?
Can Exchange 2010 and SQL 2012 BI live on the same box?  If so, are there any tuning/install recommendations?
As you can see, I'm a newbie to the 2012 world and I appreciate any advice / pointers you can give.
    Thanks!

    Hello,
    Please see the following article:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa997379(v=EXCHG.80).aspx
“Running SQL Server on the same computer as a production Exchange mailbox server is not recommended. Both SQL Server and Exchange mailbox servers consume a large amount of memory and disk resources to operate optimally. Co-hosting SQL Server and Exchange Server
on the same computer in a production environment will likely lead to poor performance by one or both of the servers. Additionally, troubleshooting and securing such an installation is not well understood.”
“Move either Exchange Server or SQL Server off the computer. Completely removing one of these programs from the computer is recommended”
    Hope this helps.

  • Installing SQL 2012 SP2 - The specified module could not be found. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x8007007E)

    Hi,
I am trying to install the SQL 2012 SP2 in one of the servers. I am getting the error as :
    TITLE: SQL Server Setup failure.
SQL Server Setup has encountered the following error:
The specified module could not be found. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x8007007E)
    Error code 0x84B10001.
The same setup is working in other servers, but on a particular server I am getting this error.
Server configuration: Windows server 2008 r2 standard edition, servvice pack 1 , 64 bit OS
    How to fix this?
    Thanks

    Hi Venkatzeus,
Based on my research, the issue is caused by that some .dll files are corrupt or missing during the installing of SQL Server 2012 SP2.
In order to troubleshoot this issue, please view the detail error message in SQL Server Setup Log Files. We can read the Summary text under %programfiles%\Microsoft SQL Server\110\Setup Bootstrap\Log\, and the Detail text in the place %programfiles%\Microsoft
SQL Server\110\Setup Bootstrap\Log\<YYYYMMDD_HHMM>\Detail.txt. For more details, please see:

    Hello,
Please enable .NET Framework 3.5 using Control Panel -> Programs and Features. If you have it already enabled, please repair it using
    the following tool:
    http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=30135
Open the Command Prompt as Administrator and run the following command:
    winmgmt /verifyrepository
The result of the command should be “WMI Repository is consistent”.
SQL Server cannot be installed on a compressed or encrypted drive.
You need to run SQL Server setup with a Windows account with administrative privileges.

  • Installing SQL 2012 Ent (MSDN Ver) with Sysprep

    Hi folks,
I've been trying to create template VMs on Windows Server 2008 R2 with SQL 2008 R2 Enterprise and SQL 2012 Enterprise available on them (Sysprepped installs of SQL).  So, I'm creating one template for 2008 and another for 2012; not both on the same
template.  I was able to create the 2008 R2 template with little issue.  However, after completing the advanced install of SQL 2012 and rebooting, I was unable to complete the install process because the serial number is defaulting to all zeros (normally
this copy of SQL 2012 would embed the license key, as it did for the 2008 R2 install).  Here's a link to the process that I followed for 2012 - ( could not embed link, please refer to TechNet article titled 'Install SQL Server 2012 Using SysPrep').
All software / hardware is 64 bit for sake of this question.  Does anyone have any thoughts or ideas around this conundrum?
    Thanks,
    Sean Donovan

    Hi,
According to the description, I understand that during Complete Image step, the product key is empty rather than the embed the key. You followed
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee210664.aspx.
I suggest you try starting the ‘complete image’ from the installation media instead of starting it from the shortcut being created in the ‘prepare image’ step and see if it resolves the issue.
    Thanks.

  • Lync Server Mirror using SQL 2012 Developer Edition in Test Environment

I'm setting up a Lync Enterprise Frontend Pool in a Dev/Test environment using two SQL 2012 SP2 Developer Edition Servers. When I try and publish the topology and create the databases I am getting this error.
    System.MissingMethodException: Method not found: 'System.String Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.Smo.ExceptionTemplatesImpl.BackupToUrlNotSupported
I have not been able to find any info on this error but it would appear the it has something to do with the fact these servers are developer edition. I was under the impression that developer edition included all features of the enterprise edition. Is that
not true? Has anyone else seen this error when it attempts to create the mirror?

  • Trouble installing SQL Server 2012 on Windows Server 2012

I have a brand new install of Windows 2012 Server Standard Edition. I am trying to get SQL Server 2012 installed on it, but have been having a lot of trouble.
When I run the System Configuration Checker everything passes except for "Setup administrator" -
Rule "Setup administrator" failed. The account running SQL Server Setup does not have administrator rights on the computer. To continue, use an account with administrator rights.
If I go to try the "New SQL Server stand-alone installation or add features to an existing installation then I get the same "Setup administrator" error plus the following one.
    Setup account privileges
    Rule "Setup account privileges" failed.
The account that is running SQL Server Setup does not have one or all of teh following rights: the right to back up files and directories, the right to manage auditing and the security log and the right to debug programs. To continue, use an account with both
of these rights. For more information, see

I am running the install using the administrator account. The server is not on a domain. I have tried to suggestions in the links above as well as this link http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2000257, but I still keep getting the same error. I even just re-installed

  • Trouble Installing Windows 2012 R2 (Windows can't be installed on this drive)

<p>I "binged" this error message and it seems to be beaten to death but my problem is not resolved. Basically, Im trying to install 2012 R2 on a server which currently also has CentOS6.3. Im not doing a dual boot and I want only Windows 2012.</p><p>During
the install process I hit error message below. I have tried partitioning my disk but I end up with Primary partitions and same error as below. I tried pointing the Load Driver option to the right driver for the SUperMicro motherboard but it comes back to the
same error. What am I missing and how can I fix this. All of the other links that the search found point to driver issues but did not mention which drivers exactly. Seems like I cannot upload images, but the error basically shows me
    Drive 0 partition 1
    Driver 0 Unallocated space
and below it shows me that Windows cant be installed on this drive.
    <br />

If you deleted all partitions (don't try formatting), you should have been presented with a volume with no partitions during the installation procedure.  You should be able to proceed at that point and Windows will initialize, partition, and format
the disk according to its needs.
If the disk is being shown to you but it still won't accept it for installation (it would be really helpful to get the exact message you are receiving), that is a little strange.  Possibly it requires a different driver.  At the screen that presents
the volume to use for installation, there is also an option to load a driver.  (I have to do this all the time because I am regularly using drivers that are not on the Microsoft installation media).  You have to have access to the driver in order
to be able to load it.  If the driver is on a CD, you remove the Windows DVD, insert the driver CD, browse to the location of the driver and install it, remove the driver CD, insert the Windows DVD, click refresh on the window, and you should be able
to proceed, if the problem was a driver problem.
The only other time I have had a situation like yours is when I have improperly zoned/masked a LUN from a SAN, but it sounds like you are dealing with local storage, so that most likely will not come into play.
Is this the only hard drive on the system?

And I agree you should repair because of following in summary logs
    Product features discovered:
Product Instance Instance ID Feature Language Edition Version Clustered Configured

The instance name is coming Unconfigured, I dont know what that exactly means but gives m hunch that SQL Server is configured incorrectly so you must repair it.  You already have instance of SQL Server 2012 standard installed if you see "Product

    Hi Guys
I am having trouble installing sql server 2012 on windows server 2012 core. I am doing this on VM and my VM is not connected to internet.
This setup is part of preparing lab for sql serve exam 70-462. I would really appreciate your help.
I am including the links to the log files that were generated after installation. There are following 2 files
    Component Update and
    Detail_Global_Rules
    Thanks

    Hi
    iworkonline,
Regarding to your original question, you can work around it according to Prashanth’s post or unclick the “Include SQL Server Product Updates" checkbox when installing SQL Server on your VM.
Regarding to your second question, I make a test using TechNet Virtual Lab and everything works as expected . Below are my steps.
    1. Choose Web client after laughing the Lab.
    2. Choose SQLONE machine and “OPEN CHARMS” as follows, then search SQL Server Management Studio, use it to connect to the default instance (which has been installed in the lab).
From your description, you get error message “Device not ready”. Could you please post more details? Are you installing SQL Server 2012 on the TechNet Virtual Lab?

Any ideas on why this has happened and how to fix the error?
    Thanks.
    Jaz

    Hello,
Open the errorlog file on the following path C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL11.MSSQLSERVER\MSSQL\Log. There
you will find a more descriptive error.
I received that error before. The workaround I used is contained on the following article:
    http://www.sqlcoffee.com/Troubleshooting112.htm
    Hope this helps.
