Trouble installing "Tune Transfer" on my iMac

I tried to install the Tune Transfer disk, onto my brand new iMac. After the installation bar gets to 100%, it goes to the next window that says "Errors occurred during the installation. JVM not found"
I am new with Macs, and I am really having trouble figuring out how to correct this, and websites on google have only confused me more.

doctorbrink, Welcome to the discussion area!
If you have a new iMac you have an Intel based iMac. This is the discussion area for the iMac G4. You should post your question in the Intel based iMac discussion area.
From what I can see, the "Tune Transfer" is very old software and has been discontinued.

  • Trouble Installing Windows XP on my iMac

I recently made the switch from a PC to a Mac, however I then found out after I got rid of my PC that I would need it for school. Anyway, I used Boot Camp to install Windows XP onto my iMac, but then when I got to the part where I was prompted to select a partition, I did not know which to choose! I cancelled the installation process and restarted my computer and looked up the support guide for using Boot Camp.
However, now that I know which partition to choose, I can't get Windows to start installing again! I choose Windows on the Boot Camp Assistant and it reads the disc and goes to the black screen, but all I see is a "_" blinking.
If anyone has any ideas as to what to do for this, please let me know!

I used Boot Camp to install Windows XP
You should then post your question in the Boot Camp forums:

  • Trouble installing Mavericks over Lion on iMac 12,2; hangs.

    Hi Folks,
iMac 12,2 16 Gigs RAM, i7  4-core 3.4 GHz 1-TB HD for data, 1-250 Gig SSD for systems - running Snow Leopard on one partition and Lion on the other. (Full hardware description at bottom.)
Purchased new in New Zealand about 14 months ago from Apple authorized reseller; no AppleCare. Not registered with Apple. No seerrious problems since, until this.
Ethernet lan connection to Airport and then ISP's modem/router (Telecom New Zealand, . Fixed IP. No problems there, I think.
Lots of USB stuff plugged in during install, but that shouldn't matter.
Attempt to install Mavericks on Lion partition while booted in Lion partition failed.
Attempt to install Mavericks on Lion partition while booted in Snow Leoepard partition failed.
(Download to Snow seemed to work fine. Installer ran, finished in 20 minutes instead of 35, but when I restarted the computer the startup hung. Shutdown, restart, hangs. Every time.)
Both installations failed with this hang. Restarts done with verbose logging on show the following, repeating ad infinitum (I stopped counting after it got over 5,100 lines -- no I didn't watch 5,000 lines scroll, I went away for a snooze):
invalid sandbox profiile for pid <number> (invalid regex)
Nothing here in the forums, or on the InterWebs about this error or much about a hanging install (which has been identified as one of Mavericks' problems) except to say wait forever (I  think 5,000 lines of verbose logging is forever) or try the install again. I have tried the install again; it hangs at the same point every time.
There is some stuff on the hacker sites about sandbox and this error, but only for earlier OS versions. The fix for them was to replace the sandbox.kext. I'm going to boot into root in Snow Leopard partition so I can do things to the Lion partition, and change that kextfile?! Yeah, Riiiggghhhhttt. NOT.
I suppose I could try the install with all USB stuff disconnected -- but I don't believe that's it.
I suppose the fact that the Lion might not have had the latest software updates to it before I tried to install Mavericks might have something to do with it. I don't believe that's it (certainly is shouldn't be).
Final recourse might have to be wiping the Lion partition (full erase and clean install) (it doesn't have any critical data saved on it; I do all my work in Snow on the other partition, the Lion is for experimenting).
    Anyone have any ideas?
    TIA and cheers,

Sorry, bad news for you, depending on your setup.
The answer (provided by an Apple higher-level tech for which I paid -- no Applecare) was that they don't have a clue, but a clean install works.
    Yeah, Thaaannnnnnnkkkksss. Knew that.
Clean install (almost) always works (worked) for 25 years.
You don't say if your kit has everything on one partition, or there are more than one.
If you have a big hard disk that's not full, has lots of room, but only one partition, with 10.8 you can dynamically create a new partition without losing data. I don't have the details of the process handy, but it's pretty straightforward.
Then, with the Mavericks installer on the 10.8 partition, and booted to that partition, you can install Mavericks on the other partition (with administrator account). You could use the migration assistant (or whatever) to bring your data over from the 10.8 partition to the Mavericks one. However ...
You might also want, if your hard disk isn't huge, and you don't have two drives of whatever type in the machine, to make the new partition just big enough for the OS and apps, and keep the data on the 10.8 partition.
You can tell the Mavericks instance to use the other partition as your Home directory, instead of the Home directory on the Mavericks drive.
If you have your OS and data on the same partition, and you don't have enough room on your disk(s) for the above procedures, then your best solution would likely be make a Carbon Copy Clone of the drive, wipe it completely, and install Mavericks from some external source other than another partition with another OS, and migrate your data back.
There is stuff on the Web about making a bootable Mavericks install disk on a flash memory stick.
But whichever way you end up doing it, you will have to boot into a clean OS on a different partition or disk from the target Mavericks install partition or disk.
Last caveat: it may be difficult, but not impossible, to maintain your, or multiple users', identity and accounts and where they point, as well as your online IDs.
Hope that helps a bit. Don't give up, but do take precautions (a CCC backup or a Tiime Machine is always wise anyway) and write everything down as you go.
FWIW, I'm not using the Mavericks partition for anything, not even experimentation. I'm still using my Snow Leopard, because it works fine (finally) and is the only way to run Eudora. Until, that is, I solve the problem of running 10.6.8 server in a virtual machine in the Mavericks partition so I can run Eudora under Steve's nose with impunity, and so seamlessly it seems to be running under Mavericks, with full integration (through Parallels).
    Cheers from the Antipodes,

  • "jvm not found" on tunes transfer install----PLEASE HELP

hey all! very new to mac ownership (been using my new pro for only a few hours now!) and im trying to install tunes transfer to get all my jams from my pod to my new machine, but i keep getting the "jvm not found" error. how can i correct this?? im not very technical so if anybody could explain this to me in the simplest way possible i would greatly appreciate it! thanks in advance!
    -John

The only Tunes Transfer I can find is a Windows app, but assuming you've found a Mac version somewhere...
The error means it can't find your installation of Java. My first guess would be that TT is looking for an older version of Java than the one that's installed on MacOS X these days.
Since moving music from iPods back to computers is not supported by Apple, I won't recommend any alternative applications by name. But you might try googling for iTunes spelled backwards

  • Troubles installing Windows 7 to iMac

So I'm trying to install Windows 7 on my iMac that I got brand new back last summer of 2013. I've been reading how to install it and it says after the installation, I'll need to pop in my OS X disk so it knows the interface correctly. My iMac did not come with any OS X disk; just the computer and wires came in the box. So when I get to that stage, I'm not sure what to do because I have no disk. Any help is greatly appreciated!

You should probably ask this question in the BootCamp forum https://discussions.apple.com/community/windows_software/boot_camp
While we all use iMacs we don't all use Bootcamp or windows.

  • Trouble installing 2.1.1 for ipod touch generation 1

I am having troubles installing 2.1.1 ipod touch software on a gen. 1 ipod touch. I am using an IMac G5, itunes 8, OS 10.5.4 and the process of updating in itunes has frozen with the blue candy stripe bar spinning as it says "preparing iPod software for restore."
The ipod is black with an white apple and a spinning wheel.
    It's been about 5 hours.
    What should I do?
    Cheers.

Just found some info on apple support.
Updating your iPhone and iPod touch to iPhone software 2.0 or later for the first time
Software updates prior to iPhone software 2.0 updated the device without affecting your settings or media content. Updating your iPhone and iPod touch from iPhone software 1.x to 2.0 or later includes a back up, erase, and then restore of your device prior to installing the new update. iTunes will offer to create a one-time media backup of your device depending on what content is on your device and what content is stored in the iTunes Library you are connected to. You should ensure that you have enough free space on your Mac or PC to accommodate a backup that matches the capacity of your iPhone or iPod touch (4 GB, 8 GB, 16 GB, or 32 GB) if you proceed with the this backup.
As a result of this comprehensive one-time media backup, this process can take some time. The amount of time, is determined by the amount of data on the iPhone or iPod touch.
7 hours and counting. Stay tune. Maybe by tomorrow morning!

v4 is pretty lonh in the tooth now, and GB only costs $15, so I'd think it's a good idea

the only version you can buy new is v6,a nd it should open older projects without issue ... however you could keep 4 around:

  • Installed Windows 7 on my IMac, now I can't get Apple OS to work

Installed Windows 7 on my IMac, now I can't get Apple OS to work, I have tried booting with Snow Leopard disc in and nothing works. I had trouble from the start but now nothing works except Windows 7, sound wont work etc. etc.

I originally tried installing Widows 7 so I could run my Flight Simulator X on the IMac I got from my daughter and I used BootCamp and had partitioned it at about 4GB for windows and the first thing I got was I had to put a bootable disc in and neither the windows 7 or Snow Leopard would work. Then I got Windows 7 to work but I can't get Snow Leopard to run, when I put the disc in it says that it not supported. Of course windows wont show me anyother areas of the disc that I could try to get to, the other side of the partition I guess. I have tried holding the C key down on reboot and that doesn't work. I hope this gives you a little more insight as to what is going on. Thanks Bill

  • How to instal iMovie6 in my new iMAC

What is the best way to install iMovie6 to my new iMac that is on it's way...I read so much about how no one likes the new iMovie8. So should I use firewire and transfer it or should I use the disc? The reason I ask is because I have so many plugins in iMovie6 and it would be faster to use firewire. But then someone said it might knock out iMovie8. So another question would be should I rename iMovie6 before I transfer it to the new machine? Someone told me that adding iMovie6 to the new iMac may knock out iMove8.If I use the disc should I re-name iMovie8 first? Or would it be better to use the iLife6 disc to the new machine.
    Thanks
    Sue

Ellyn, while both of the previous solutions offered would get you iMovie 06 on your computer, they wouldn't get you all of your plug ins, and other documents currently on your existing mac.
When your new computer arrives, and before you start it up the first time, position it next to you existing mac. Connect the two with a firewire cable. Restart your old mac while holding down the T key. This will eventually produce a firewire logo on the screen of your old mac. When you see the logo you can let go of the T key. You haven't hurt your old mac or lost any info. You're starting it in TARGET mode to allow the new computer to transfer all of your old files when you boot it for the first time.
Now you can turn on your new iMac. It will go through a start up process and will ask you if you want to copy your old files from an existing mac. Click yes (or ok) and there ya go. It will take about 15 minutes to copy your files over, maybe longer if you have a lot.
But all of your existing software installs, documents, passwords, layout, and desktop preferences will be copied over. You can then set it up differently if you like.
This way, all of your plug ins, and you're existing iMovie preferences will transfer and be ready to go with your new computer.

  • Having trouble installing an HDD.

Just bought a Seagate 7200.8 HDD from Fry's and am having trouble installing it. The drive is SATA.
I've enabled the SATA in bios and also enabled the SATA DMA transfer. I put the drive in and Windows detects it. It shows up in device manager under the disk drives setting. However it does not show up under My Computer so that I can format it. Also the safely remove hardware icon is appering in my system tray for the HDD. I am completely confused.
This is my first SATA drive install so I don't know if i missed a step or did something wrong.
It appears in the bios on IDE channel 4.
One thing I am not sure about is in device manager under the general tab for the drive it's location is listed as "Location 0 (Secondary ATA Channel) which I know cannot be right. That is where my DVD burner is on my second IDE channel.
    I am totally lost.
Anybody have any idea what is messing me up.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Trouble installing itunes -itunessetup.exe is not a valid win32 application

I have trouble installing itunes. The following message appears: C:\Documents and Setting\Owner\My Documents\ itunsSetup.exe is not a valid Win32 application. I tried the following but I still have problems: remove previous version of itunes, remove quicktime, install again quicktime as a standalone, delete temporary files, restart computer, delete all itunes related files.

    Finally an answer from Apple:
    Dear Stefanie,
I understand that you're receiving an error when trying to open the iTunes
installer that you downloaded. I'd like to try to help you resolve this issue.
It appears that your web browser may be truncating your download of the iTunes
software. I urge you to try using a different web browser to download iTunes. If
this is not possible, you can also try using a different computer to download
iTunes, and then transfer the iTunes installer file (iTunesSetup.exe) to your
original computer and open it from there.
Some transfer options would include using your iPod to transfer the file via
hard disk mode, using a local network, burning a CD, using an external hard disk
or a USB drive, or even sending the file to yourself via email or over an
    instant messaging network.
I hope this information helps to resolve your iTunes installation issue. If it
does not and you still need assistance from Apple, you will need to call Apple
technical support (there may be a fee associated with the call). To find the

the problem is that i've just noticed that when i use tune transfer and transfer songs onto my computer from my ipod, somehow space is getting taken up on my ipod, and the amount of free space is slowly decreasing.. i'm wondering if the program is putting invisible elements onto my ipod and not deleting them after the transfer of tunes is complete.. please help, or at least show me a way that i can check for stuff on my ipod that is taking up my space other than music..
