Trouble installing w/ Adaptec 2940UW and Seagate ST19101WC

I am running a home built PC w/ an Adaptec 2940UW SCSI card and a Seagate ST1901WC SCSI hard drive. I have loaded and removed Redhat 6.1, Windows 2000, Windows 98 SE. I know that the hardware is installed properly. When I try to load Solaris 8 for Intel, it goes into the Webstart and after I select the language to install in, it looks for a volume to install to and tells me that no supported disk device is installed. Please check hardware, or select different install method. The SCSI card is listed in Suns' Compatibility list and the drive is a high end 9.1 Gbyte Seagate, which I would imagine works fine with Solaris 8. I checked on Adaptecs' Knowledge Base and found no known problems with this card in Solaris 8 (Intel) I did the same for Seagate.
Can anyone think of any possible reason this is not allowing me to install.

I think there are special requirements for using the new java based
"Webstart Installation" cdrom.
Don't use the "Installation" cdrom. Install from the "Software 1 of 2" cd - with or without the DCA floppy.

  • Having trouble installing Adobe CS6 Design and Web Premium on Windows 7 64-bit

I am trying to install Adobe CS6 Design and Web Premium on Windows 7 64-bit.  Everything goes well until installing AdobeHelp and when the minutes from 20 minutes jumped to 200 minutes and freeze.

    Hi.
I don't know if you are on a personal PC/Mac or on a large environment. On my case I'm trying to use AAMEE to package and SCCM 2012 to deploy it over a considerable number of 64bits machines.
So, I have created a Deployment using AAMEE and one of the Exceptions was AdobeHelp. The command line that was provided on the Exceptionsinfo.txt after building the package is:
    AdobeHelp\InstallAdobeHelp.exe appVersion=4.0.244  appId=chc  pubId=4875E02D9FB21EE389F73B8D1702B320485DF8CE.1  installerArg1=-silent  installerArg2=-eulaAccepted  installerArg3=-programMenu  installerArg4=AdobeHelp.air
With the normal AAMEE package I will not be able to install all the Exceptions so I created a CMD file with a sequence to install the main MSI and then the Exceptions. To the provided command before mentioned I included the following:
    start /wait "%~dp0\Exceptions\AdobeHelp\InstallAdobeHelp.exe" appVersion=4.0.244  appId=chc  pubId=4875E02D9FB21EE389F73B8D1702B320485DF8CE.1  installerArg1=-silent  installerArg2=-eulaAccepted  installerArg3=-programMenu  installerArg4=AdobeHelp.air
My sequence goes well but then when trying to install AdobeHelp it sends an error that it can't find -silent and seems that it got frozen as it's still runing the installation as I'm writing.
If someone has any idea please share it with us as this could be an error on AAMEE with the command that it was provided to me after creating the deployment package.
    Thanks and kind regards.

  • Trouble installing Microsoft Office home and student 2010

    Hi,
I'm new to Apple, i'm trying to insatl Microsoft office home and student 2010 onto my mac but it keeps saying "you can't open the application "setup.exe" because microsoft windows does not support the application"
    could anyone help?
    Kind regards
    Jordan

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
It looks like you are trying to install Office 2010 on OS X. That's not possible because that version is for Windows, so you have to install Windows on your Mac. As you are going to use it only for Microsoft Office, download Parallels, VMware Fusion or VirtualBox, and install Windows on a virtual machine.
Another option is to purchase Office for Mac > http://www.microsoft.com/mac

  • Trouble installing Digital Photo Professional and other Canon software

    Hello everyone,
I have been trying to install several software programs on a new iMac without any success. My machine is the 20" Intel Core 2 Duo running OS X 10.4.8. I am attempting to install Canon's Digital Photo Professional version 1.0 and the EOS Digital Solutions version 7.0 (original equipment with my 1D mkII - will upgrade after installation). During the installation of DPP the process will stop while "configuring installation". I then receive a message that "There were errors installing the software. Please try installing again."
When operating the Canon EOS Digital Installer on the Solutions disk I receive the message "Not authorized to write to this folder".
As I am attempting to install this software under the administrative account, the error message for the Solutions disk puzzles me.
Does anyone have any ideas about what the problem is or where to begin troubleshooting?
Thank you in advance for your help.
    Kevin

You may need to download the latest version (2.2.2).
It runs fine on my iMac C2D. Version 2.2.2 is also Universal Binary.
The only hitch you may have is the upgrade checks for an installed version. I'm not sure if it will accept the CD as an upgrade.
Where did I download it from? That I'm not certain of! I did a long search on Google & finally ran across a Japanese Canon site that had it.
If you can't install to upgrade, try installing it on a PPC Mac, install the update, then drag & drop the installed file to your new Mac.

  • Trouble installing plugins for CS3 and CS4 onto a 32 bit/64 bit PC.

I have two new PCs. They are supposed to run both 32 Bit and 64 Bit programs.
I have CS3 and CS4 32 Bit programs installed on both.
Many of my old faithful plugins have gone on strike or at least a work stoppage!
I can get some of them to install correctly, but some arre just not cooperating.
Is there a workaround for this problem?
    I have considered:
    1. Creating a partition for Window 7 32 bit, but I am not so technically savvy to be confident that I would do it correctly
    2. Buy an older 32 bit machine and install windows 7, but that is getting to the edge of too pricey.
    Any suggestions?
I really need some of those plugins! I have built a business around them.

The truth is that you can run Windows 7 and Windows 8, in both 32 and 64-bit versions, without any problem (you have a 64-bit processor). The problem is that Apple only supports a 32-bit Windows 7 version for your Mac. Why? Because Apple wanted to drop the Windows 8 support for the computer you are using.
You can see in this page all the Macs compatible with 64-bit Windows editions > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1846 As you can see, your Mac isn't supported, so you can only install a 32-bit Windows 7 version with Boot Camp if you want to run Windows correctly.
I told you at the beggining that you can install any 32 or 64-bit Windows 7 and Windows 8 versions on your Mac because your iMac meets the requirements for both editions. However, you need the Boot Camp drivers to make Windows run properly, and here's where Apple has dropped a lot of computers, making them unusable if you install a version that Apple clasifies as unsupported. Sad but that's true

  • Trouble installing Flash Player 11 and Internet Explorer

Half way thru installing it stops and tells me to close Internet Explorer to continue.  I close it and it does not continue. Any hints?

RIght click your Task Bar and open the Task manager. Under Processes, look for iexplore.exe. click it and click "End Process" Click OK and it will be fully closed. I have WIndows 7 and IE absolutely WILL NOT close all the way unless I do this, even several minutes after I close the window.

  • Trouble installing photoshop 7.0 and illustrator 10

I've been trying to install a couple of Adobe programs out of the creative suite, but the "classic environment" isn't detected, so the programs keeps getting kicked out.

While PS 7 ran under OS X, it was actually an OS 9 app that installed just a handful of files (it asks you if you want to install them), which allowed it to run under OS X. But without the Classic (OS 9) folders on the hard drive, it cannot install. Even if you could install it, it wouldn't run. You're going to have to upgrade.
Not sure about Illustrator 10, but that's a long ways back, too. Most likely also just too old to install or run.

  • Adaptec 2940UW bootable with G4 933 (Quicksliver 2002)

    Hello,
I am setting up a second machine in OS 9 native like my blue and white G3 for some legacy applications. I was able to boot from SCSI drives fine in my blue and white G3 with the Adaptec 2940UW and 2940U2W cards. I now have a 10 gig Cheetah SCSI drive in the G4 connected to the 2940UW, and it won't seem to boot. The Cheetah is mounted and I was able to install system sofware, copy files etc., but I can't seem to boot from it. The internal apple drive will boot fine, so I'm wondering if this card is not bootable in the newer machine? Any thoughts or help would be greatly appreciated.
    Cheers,
    Jeff

Not sure what your exact issue might be but I know for a fact that some of the later G4 towers had issues with SCSI cards. Specifically Adaptec cards.
If you look around on xlr8yourmac you will find something. I remember it being the Digital Audio and QS that had the issues.

  • Having trouble installing Creative Cloud, Error Code: A12E4

Hello, I am having trouble installing Creative Cloud Installer and I am getting an error code A12E4.
I am a Mac OS X User running 10.5.8 version.
I have enabled root options, disabled firewall, downloaded manually Application Manager 7 (which also gives error A12E4), renamed OOBE folder to OOBE.old and eventually unistalled and deleted everything but still getting this error.
Is there anything else I can do? I am really frustrated.
    Thank you in advance.
    Margaret

I have already seen this topic. I do not see any AAM Updates Notifier on Activity Monitor. I could not install Creative Cloud in the first place so it is not an option for me to reinstall it.
I have also used AdobeCreativeCloudCleaner Tool and removed Adobe Application Manager but still nothing.
What else could it be? Do I need to format my computer?
    Thank you.

  • 6580 i845pe and Adaptec 2940UW

Adaptec 2940UW card hangs at POST, updated to the latest BIOS version for the 6580 i845pe Max and Adaptec card - problem still exists.
    example:
    "Device 1 - plextor cd
    Device 2 - toshiba 32x ..
SCSI BIOS NOT INSTALLED ! "
    now, system is hung.
terminations are correct, moving the 2940UW to different slots and removing all cards except video doesn't help, I suspect a problem in the 6580's bios.  Same scsi rig has no trouble in 3 other systems I tested on.  I've also tried with scsi bios enabled - same results.  Please advise !

    Hmmm.... I dunno.
    Adaptec says this:
The BIOS of the SCSI card is used as the bootstrap loader to link hard drive(s) (INT13 devices) through the Interrupt vector table into the system BIOS.
If there are no hard drives connected to the SCSI card, the message is normal.
The Bios looks for hard drives at ID's 0,1,2 and if none are found the message: " BIOS not installed " is displayed. The primary reason for a BIOS is when you have a bootable SCSI hard drive.
To prevent the message from being displayed, "Disable" the BIOS function in SCSI Select: Press Ctrl+A to enter SCSISelect, and go into Configure/View Host Adapter Settings, then go to Advanced Configuration and where is says Host Adapter BIOS or SCSI Controller Int-13 Support set this option to Disable or Disable Scan Bus depending on the BIOS revision and the SCSI card.
Note: This is not an error message, but a BIOS display message only, stating the BIOS was not loaded into memory and all control of device, will be done through the driver.
So you might try disabling INT-13 support?

  • Hello i am having trouble installing itunes 10.5 on my laptop i have windows vista. it says error 7 windows error 998. i now have no itunes. i have tried to uninstall itunes but it still wont work and keep coming up with that message. please help!

    hello
i am having major trouble installing itunes. i had itunes working fine and i went to update it as it told me there was an update which i thought i did. i went on my laptop the next day and it said "itunes was not installed correctly error 7 windows error 998"
i read a few articles on here but i am having no joy. i uninstalled itunes and reinstalled and that did not work. i also unistalled some other apple things cant remember the names sorry!
i am not a whiz on a computer so really need some help please!!

Installing, and uninstalling, applications never touches or removes the data.
Clean out and uninstall all the apple programs and software thru Programs and manually.
Might want to use Revo and CCleaner
I always use manual standalone installers (and keep a couple backup versions)
itunes 10.5 may affect iTunes media playlists, not sure, depends on what you have.
A search of these forums will show some threads.
I'd clean up vista, you need SP2 or later, and specific error message?
I wonder as you arenot the first with a dell if maybe the OS or included software.
Security programs like Norton and older versions of Kaspersky have been implicated.
Also settings in IE that affect pop-ups and plug-ins.

It said the installation was sucessful, but when I try to add a printer, no go. The printer does'nt show up. I'm fairly new to the Mac, after switching from windows. I'm running Snow Leopard 10.6.8.

Hold down the option key and select
     ▹ System Information...
from the menu bar. In the window that opens, select
    Hardware ▹ USB
from the list on the left. On the right you should now see a list of all connected USB devices, as well as some built-in components. Is the device shown?

    Hey robr72339266,
With a single user license, you can install Acrobat on maximum two computers, say, your laptop at work and desktop at office.
But, you cannot use Acrobat on both the machines simultaneously.
You will first need to deactivate Acrobat from the old machine, then install and activate the software on the new OS with the same serial key.
Please Contact | Adobe to seek help on the same.

    Anubha
