I have an account with fine homebuilding. The pdf files often take more than one attempt to load and some will not load at all. All the PDFs load first time with IE 6 or 7.

Yes, it is possible. But you need to make sure the '''firefox.exe''' process for one version isn't still running in the Task Manager before trying to open the other version. If a process is "hung", you'll just get a new window of the "hung" process.
Create a new profile exclusively for the 4.0 beta version and create a desktop shortcut with -P "profile" appended to the target to launch that profile.

I am having trouble running .mov files on my ipad. What can I do?
    Thanks.

go to the app store and search .mov   The pad plays a certain set of file types, but not all.  In the appstore there are several alternate players that will work.  Find one that does what you heed, and is priced right for you,and download it.
((WM Player HD lite is free, and look like the one you might want)
I use xy player, and VLC, but I am not sure either one is still available.

  • Firefox won't load .mov files online but plays them locally: QT problem?

My website has several pages with embedded .mov files, which used to play perfectly well, but now only give a question mark after the progress bar fills up.
For example, one of these pages is http://www.paulozelinsky.com/shivers-animation2a.html
Firefox can open this and similar pages that are stored in my computer (on a mirror of the site) and view the animations normally. But online it doesn't work. Typing the path to the online animation file into Firefox's URL field also produces an empty QuickTime window with a question mark, so it's not a matter of the page code.
Is it possible that QuickTime's plugin isn't compatible with Firefox, at least for .mov files like mine? (Created with After Effects 7, using Sorensen 3 codec). Does Firefox use plugins in the same way for playing a file on a web server as playing it in a local folder? Or could there be something going on with my web host?
I would at least like to know if this failure to load the animation is the same for other Mac Firefox users. I have heard that the animation does load, though slowly, for at least one PC Firefox user.
When I first noticed the change, the problem was occurring in Safari as well as Firefox, but now it is only in Firefox.
    I have Firefox 3.6.8, and in HD/Library/Internet Plug-Ins I have QuickTime Plugin.plugin v. 7.6.6. I also see in there something called nsIQTScriptablePlugin.xpt.

Bump, bump. Please can anybody help?

  • Trouble Importing MOV files in adobe premiere pro cs3

    Hi,
I just bought a Canon 60D camera and I am using adobe premiere pro cs3 for the first time.
I tried to import MOV file footages made by my Canon 60D, but it says that my files are not supported.
I don't know what to do!
    Can someone help me?
    Thank you.

    Hi All,
Let me tell you how I solved the XDV9 codec trouble on my Windows 7 system. The solution is rather stunning because I am using completely free software. First download the Shark007 codec pack for your system here: http://shark007.net/forum/Thread-Setup-and-usage . Please be aware that the codec pack installer comes with a toolbar install option so make sure you de-select this option during the installation process. After installation check the MOV tab on the "Settings Application" program. Make sure "use LAV's splitter" is selected for MOV Playback.
Now comes the crazy part... To convert the XDV9 MOV video clips just download Windows Essentials Movie Maker for Windows 7. At this moment more info about this program can be found here: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-live/movie-maker-get-started . Again, make sure to set the right settings during installation otherwise you will be installing a lot of possible unwanted crap like Windows Live Mail, Windows Skydrive etc.
Movie Maker has quite good settings for converting (High Definition or custom settings are supported). Select your clip, or select multiple clips to create an unedited full length clip of all your clips, and then select "create movie". I used the "use recomended settings for this project" settings as it matches the source file resolution and frame rates etc. It is quite some work to convert clips like this but its the only free solution I could find so far.
    Good luck!

  • Trouble playing movie files off of Time Capsule

I have a bunch of videos stored on my time capsule that I want to play on my mini sitting under my tv. Quicktime stutters and stalls whether it's the original canon camera movie files or the compressed divx/xvid version. I thought with a new mini Mac using wireless N I would not have this problem. Are there any buffer settings I can set to give quicktime a little more room to breathe? Perhaps someone can recommend another video player that has a buffer setting for network files? Or a better way to compress/convert files so quicktime can play them smoothly? Any help or tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Go back into QuickTime Player, Window menu, Show Movie Info and check the Format: field again - it should list the audio format as well. Perhaps its AC3 ?

  • Having Trouble Exporting .mov files

Hi, I've been trying to export a lossless quality .mov file of a presentation I shot a couple weeks ago. It's about 3.5 hours long and is being an absolute pain. It takes over 8 hours for it to export the quicktime animation file, and then it ends up being around 250gb which is way way wayy to big! The files I put into the timeline only add up to 21 gb, why is it doing this? Even when I used an h.264 codec, the file is still around 100gb and it took 12 hours to encode!! Can somebody please help me with this? I need to get this footage to the company I shot for. Thanks!
    Export settings
    Quicktime Animation
    Quality 100, 1280x720, 29.97 fps, progressive

    > and then it ends up being around 250gb which is way way wayy to big! The
files I put into the timeline only add up to 21 gb, why is it doing
    this?
Losslessly compressed files are huge. That is an unavoidable fact. 250GB is an unsurprsing size for a 3-hour movie that is losslessly compressed. The fact that your input files were 21GB has nothing to do with it. Those files were heavily compressed.
What is your client asking from you? It seems unlikely that they're asking for losslessly compressed file for delivery. Are they asking for something for playback? What are their delivery specifications?

  • Having trouble importing .MOV files

I have a Canon EOS 60D which shoots video clips with a file extension of .MOV.  I have Premier Elements Vers.8.0 and when I try to import the clips, it errors out and says it doesn't support .MOV files or Codec is missing...I'm not even sure what that means.  Is there a fix for this?  Please let me know, thanks!

    Welcome to the forum.
If that MOV "wrapper" contains the MJPEG CODEC, and Steve will know, then you might be able to install the Canon MJPEG CODEC, which should be included with the camera's utility disc. It might be a separate installation, but more likely installed with the camera's driver, or, most likely, along with a Canon editing, or cataloging utility, such as ZoomBrowser. Even if one does not use that utility, having the proper CODEC installed might allow PrE to edit the material. Using the version of MJPEG that the camera maker uses, is the ideal, as most mfgrs. tweak the MJPEG CODEC a bit, so a commercial version of MJPEG may not work effectively. See this ARTICLE for more details. See this ARTICLE for more general info on CODEC's. This ARTICLE goes into more detail on Video formats, as "wrappers."
Good luck, and I hope that with the installation of the Canon MJPEG CODEC, PrE will be able to edit the material.

  • Trouble importing .mov files into FCP X

I'm relatively new to FCP so this could be a really easy fix. I took a bunch of short video clips (20s --> 1.5 min) on my Panasonic ZS25 and imported the clips to my MacBook Pro (2008 with 2GB 1067 MHz DDR3 Memory and 2.26 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Processor). [I have version 10.8.4 of OSX]. The clips from my camera were in .mts format so I used the Smart Convertor Pro App from the App Store to convert all 80 files to a .mov format. Both the converted clips and FCP X are stored on my 700 GB external, and while I tried to import the clips into FCP X, the program almost immediately froze and shut down. Thinking I "overloaded" (for lack of a better word) FCP X, I decided to try and delete the blank clips that were showing up in the program. However each time I attempted to click on a clip the program crashed again. I eventually was able to delete all the clips, and decided to move the converted clips from my external to my desktop. Once they were moved I then tried to import just one clip from the desktop to FCP X (which is still run through my external). Although it was successfully imported, once I clicked on the file to play it in FCP X the program crashed again.
What can possibly be the problem and what can I do to fix it?
Note: This is my first time using both my new camera (and having to deal with this .mts BS) as well as FCP X.

Thanks Russ, Tom, and Hughmass for all your input. It really is appreciated. Unfortunatly even after moving FCPX to my desktop and converting the .mov files in MPEGstreamclip, importing the movie clips into the program still causes random shut downs. Perhaps the clips are corrupted or something? I honestly don't know, and I'd rather kind of just ignore this problem then keep hashing away seeing as the clips aren't that important (and yes, being super smart, i deleted them off the camera well before hand).
Just to make sure FCPX works, I took some short clips on my Panasonic DMCZS25, and imported them successfully into FCPX and was able to edit together a quick piece. Thanks again for all your help!

  • Trouble importing .mov files into FCP...

Hello, all. Hope someone can help me solve this problem.
I just installed Final Cut Pro on my machine, much to my delight, and immediately set about attempting to edit a video project I was commissioned for. However, I quickly stumbled into a big problem: the files I'm attempting to edit (all .mov format) refuse to import properly into FCP. Despite the fact that they play flawlessly in Quicktime, when imported to FCP, they require an inordinate render time when placed in a sequence and, what's worse, do not render properly. The picture jumps frames in the preview, and, once rendered, a red flash is introduced in place of the missing frames, generating a seizure-inducing mess that is already giving me quite a headache.
How can I fix this problem? I am open to the idea of file conversion, but don't understand why .mov won't work. I've searched the Internet for answers and found little to no information on how to solve this. Please help!

My problem, every single movie file that i import will show red in FCP, no exception.
That means that you are brining in QT file types that FCP does not work with natively.
I cant imagine what file/codec type FCP is designed for but I tried files from my phone, two different video cams and two different still cams with video option.
FCP is designed to work with professional cameras, and a slew of consumer types. It is NOT suited for raw cel phone video, and most video types that point and shoot cameras record. For those cameras you need to convert the footage to the type that FCP works with. If you look in the EASY SETUPS in the Final Cut Pro menu, you will see the codecs that FCP works with.
ALL of these BTW, work in imovie.
Because it is meant to be used with consumer formats. But note, it converts a lot of the footage to an Apple codec in the background...or does rendering in the background to a uniform codec. It is designed for people who just want to drop footage in and go. But lacks many professional attributes. BUT, if it works, use that.
Is it just a fact of life that I have to get all types of video codec conversion software to be able to use FCP with typical video files?
Just one...MPEG STREAMCLIP. Convert everything to DV/NTSC.
Or get Adobe Premiere Pro. It is designed to work with files natively.

  • Trouble playing .mov files in windows

I used iMovie 08 on a Mac to import some videos from a Sony AVCHD camera. It created a .mov file for each clip (veery heavy ones, though short). They can be seen perfectly on a Mac, but in my PC Quicktime tells me i need to download some codec, and I dont know which one. I have lots of codecs though. What do i need to play the files in Windows?
    Thanks

it never gave me any options. when importing the video from the camera i cant choose which codec to use. anyway, i no longer have access to the mac i used. Im stuck with the files in my pc and cant read them.

  • Trouble playing .mov files

I have been sent a large .mov file (23 mb). I'm not sure how it was created. It features animation and sound. The animation is jumpy and sometimes shows a green screen. The sound is almost non-existant and sounds more like static most of the time.
I'm running Vista on an HP laptop. I played it on another laptop (an IBM) and it played fine, so I know it's not the movie.
I have spent a couple of hours trying to find if it's a missing codec. I'm lost...can someone please help? Thanks in advance.

I really don't think it is a codec issue, if it was you would likely get no play, but you are getting some.
Make sure that the computer does not have too many applications running at once, where it may not have the resources to do.
My first thought was a video device driver issue, this has been known to be a symtom of green screen. This is why I had asked if the computer was running perhaps XP and upgraded to Vista, therefore needing to upgrade the Display Adapter (video device) driver for Vista.
It would seem that where the HP laptop is fairly new with the lastest windows OS that this would not be the case. But I would that a look at the driver, and who is the vendor for the video device to see if they have updated a driver. Perhaps HP's website may have info on this for the model of the laptop.
You can go into Device Manager and check the Display Adapter, or going to Start>run>type in>dxdiag>click OK, this will give some further info, and you can run a few test.

  • Trouble loading movies into iTunes

I recently aquired several movies as files on my computer (I assure you this is legal) However, when I try to load these movies onto iTunes, namely V for Vendetta and Advent Children, it simply refuses to do so. These movies are in the same format as several other files I have sucessfully uploaded, and there is room on it for them.
    How can I fix this

I had the same problem and now I use iVI to import my video into iTunes. You just drag your videos onto it and it converts them and puts them into iTunes for you. It's worked great. Hope it helps.

  • Trouble playing MOV file in Windows7

Let me start off by saying that this does work in windowsXP
I have a file that was created using Autodesk 3d max and saved in a .mov format. The file is a panoramic image where you can click and drag to change the view. When I try to open the file on a windows7 machine (have tried several all with the same result) the quicktime window opens but not image is displayed. In the quicktime player window there is a black box at the top 1 inch of the player however the rest of the player window is transparent.
I have tried updating video drivers, direcx drivers, re-installing quicktime, adding codec packs, tried using quicktime-alternative, but nothing seems to work. I went as far as getting a .mov converter and trying to save the file in different formats, but the file loses its functionality (no longer a panoramic click and drag-view)
Im about ready to try anything here, so start throwing out ideas! thanks.

After jumping through several hoops, I was able to speak with the design team. Apparently there is an older version of the file that was working but required a revision. Since the revision it no longer worked in windows7. ahh the simple things...
