Trouble logging in to desktop application

Hi,
I've been a user of Adobe story since the first couple of weeks of it's free trial a year back, but I'm having trouble logging into the desktop application now. Whenever I try to sign in, it gives me the "signing in..." window, but then the window closes and it leaves me on the first page with only two options "learn more" or "sign in."
Another discussion thread told me to delete the "PrivateEncryptedDatak" keychain from the keychain access application, but that didn't help. I also tried deleting the files in the ELS of the AIR application library (aka just moving them so I could return them in case this didn't solve the problem), and that just prompted me to upgrade my account. After putting the files back into the ELS of the AIR application library, it didn't prompt me to upgrade my account but the previous problem remained.
I was able to log into the desktop application about 2-3 weeks ago, no problem. I am still able to log onto the application through the browser without a problem either - except for that it doesn't have the changes I made to my scripts 2-3 weeks ago.

A couple of questions first:

There is also a com.adobe.AdobeStory.4875E02D9FB21EE389F73B8D1702B320485DF8CE.1.plist file. Should I delete this too or just the com.adobe.AdobeStory.4875E02D9FB21EE389F73B8D1702B320485DF8CE.1 folder?
"Ideally now AIR application is only for the subscribed users but in case it was already being used that user should be able to use it in offline mode. If none of these solutions work out we can help you extract your data from your local DB."
-Does this mean that I will no longer be able to use the desktop application online? A friend of mine who started using the adobe story with me around the same time (a year ago when adobe was only offering story for free) and he is still able to use his desktop application online. If I can only use the desktop application offline, how will it ever sync with the browser version?

  • Trouble playing video in Desktop Application

    Hi,
    I'm trying to play two H.264 encoded videos (.mov) within an AS3 desktop application. I have tried publishing both Air and Projector but both are having (different) problems with playback. When testing the swfs within Flash they both work fine.
    I'm using a simple NetStream function to play the videos from a local directory. Like I said they both run fine within Flash, so I feel like I'm missing something obvious, but have found it difficult to find documentation on streaming locally.
    The Air app works best, but can't seem to play the second video. (I also have been having awful trouble getting around security issues of Air as I'm using LocalConnection in another part of the app, so would prefer not to use it).
    The projector starts playing both videos but very quickly starts to stutter and choke, and eventually freezes the entire app.
    The Adobe documentation says that it is possible to use NetStream locally, but maybe this isn't the case?
    Anyone have any ideas?!

    I think you started the right way - there'd be no reason to suspect this problem would exist initially. I don't have a direct solution for you, but I find that it's helpful to create small-scale samples of what the problem is, and suggest trying the following...
    Create a simple SWF file that only loads & plays the video. Don't do anything else in this file (in the unlikely event that something else is affected video playback), and then view these in the projector and AIR manner.
    Also, just try using the included video component in another simple example, and view in projector/AIR, just to see if you encounter the same playback issues. If you do, I'd initially suspec something about your computer system versus Flash.
    I haven't run across, or seen issues like this, with regards to loading/controlling video using the NetConnection and Netsrream classes... I've done a few projects with H.264 videos, but they were in the MP4 format, not MOV (I'd guess there should be no playback difference, though).
    One last thought - what is the data rate you compressed your videos to? If it's a really high one (2 megabits per second), maybe it's too taxing on your system (and is too high for general broadband viewing, anyways).

    I have Discoverer Desktop 4.1.37.00.0 on a laptop. When I try to log in as an application user, when in connect field I enter database name, I get the following error message:
    ORA-12154:TNS:could not resolve service name
    When instead of databse name I input connect string in tnsnames.ora file, I get another error message:
    Unable to connect to Oracle Application Database:Invalid username/password
    Please note that the checkbox 'oracle application user' is enabled while attempting to log in.
    Secondly, in my Administration Edition in Tools>options>connections
    the following settings have been done:
    Connect to both standard and applications EULs
    Gateway User Id (GWYUID)/Password : APPLSYSPUB/PUB
    FNDNAM : APPS
    Similar seetings have been done for the desktop.
    Also note that I cannot even log in as a database user. The error message I receive is
    'You do not have access to any End User Tables.'
    The database user name I'm using to log in is the one who has created EUL(apps mode) and owns business areas in that EUL.
    Can someone please guide me on this problem?

    The solution to my problem was exactly the same: I needed to apply the patch 3201601.
    This patch is available on http://metalink.oracle.com
    While installing the version 4.1.48.06.00 on my laptop, as I have XP, I came across some DLL errors.

    Clean up cached user login information.
    Quit the Creative Cloud Desktop application.
    Open Activity Monitor (Mac) from spotlight or Task Manager (Windows) and end all Adobe related processes. You may find processes like AAMupdater, AAMupdater notifier, Adobe Crash demon process.
    Navigate to the OOBE folder.
    Windows: [System drive]:\Users\[user name]\AppData\Local\Adobe\OOBE
    Mac OS: /Users/[user name]/Library/Application Support/Adobe/OOBE
    Delete OOBE.
    Launch Creative Cloud.

    I am trying to use the desktop application with a pearl I bought off of eBay. Every time I try to connect the phone the application asks for a key stored password. So I guess my question is where do I find this password and is there a default password like 123456 or 000000?

    There is no default password.
    Your seller had a password set on the device, and you must use that password to unlock the device. If you enter the incorrect password 10 times, it will wipe the devcie of all pesonal information.

  • Unable to install Adobe Story desktop application.

    Okay, so just as the title says I am having trouble installing Adobe Story for desktop. This is what I have been doing:
    1. Going to the site and clicking install desktop application.
    2. Saying ok to the install.
    3. Then when open and save comes up I have tried both.
    4. Saying that yes I want to install the application.
    5. Then I press continue.
    Then it always says this: The application could not be installed because the installer file is damaged. Try obtaining a new installer file from the application author.
    I have uninstalled Adobe Air then I reinstalled it. It still does not work. Any help would be appreciated.

  • Disable BB Desktop application startup when handset connected

    I would like to manually start BB desktop application on Mac10.6.8 and not to start automatically when the hanset is connected via USB

    Thks for your quick reply.  I cannot open any devices or apps in "my comptr" while playbook is plugged in.  The screen greys and Windows stops responding.  I can open "devices & printers" right click on BB cd drive then click on find new drivers. Windows says I already have most current drivers installed.  I have an older laptop running Win XP. with no problems connecting to PB.   My issue seems simular to those addressed in a later post by prochejr.  This appears to be a Win 7 prob.  Log in "trouble shooting" tells me application (BB desktop software) has incompatability issues with computer OS.

  • MacPro has trouble logging off server

    My MacPro sometimes has trouble logging off the network. Allthough I break the server connection, Workgroupserver shows there is still a client conntected through Afp. When disconnected from the server, the machine behaves odd. CD's and DVD's are not recognised and the machine hangs on shut down. Permissions are fine and I zapped PRAM but that brought no solution. Any ideas?

    +*Workgroupserver shows there is still a client conntected through Afp*+
    Its actually Server Admin > AFP Service that shows connected users. The other server application is Workgroup Manager. If the Server is 10.5 and depending what 'mode' you selected at the server install stage there is one other application that can be used: Server Preferences. As for the Service showing connected users whether they are actually connected or not is normal behaviour.
    The problem you're seeing is more than likely local to the MacPro. Create another admin account and see if the problems persist or disappear. If they disappear log back in with the primary account and navigate to /Users/Home/Library and move the whole of the Preferences to the desktop, restart the MacPro and hold down the shift key. Depressing the shift key will 'invoke' safe boot/mode. Safe mode allows fsck to do a deeper and more thorough job as well as flushing caches. It can take a bit of time before you get to the log in window. It should safe Safe Boot (in red), log in and open the trash can and you should see a folder with a long number as its title, opening this should show you the 'junk' safe boot has found and cleared out. At this point launch Disk Utility again and repair privs/permissions again. When done, empty the trash. Move the com.apple.dock.plist file from the Preferences folder moved to the desktop back to the newly created Preferences folder in /Users/Home/Library. You'll be prompted to overwrite the newly created dock.plist there. If you are using apple mail move back the com.apple.mail.plist to the same folder. Restart the mac.
    Keep the old Preferences folder for a short while for other applications or utilities that require .plist files moving back again. In general most of them don't. If you use a scanner there will be something relating to it in that folder which you should move back. When you are happy delete the folder.
    If none of the above works then make sure you have a full and current back. Your next options are to boot from the installer disk and select the Archive & Install, preserve Network Users and Settings options. If the problem persists after that, boot from the disk and perform a clean install - wipe the drive and start from the scratch - basically.
    Before you do the above two boot from the installer disk and run the Apple Hardware Test and see what it comes up with as the behaviour you describe could be down to an intermittent RAM issue or possibly an intermittent problem with the optical drive. I would perform the test at least a couple of times. Firstly with all the RAM installed and secondly with just the factory fitted RAM installed. In other words remove any additional RAM whether it came from Apple or a 3rd-Party.
    Try the creation of another admin account first as that is quick to do and instantly effective.

  • Error Installing Adobe Air from Story Desktop Application Installer

    This is truly driving me nuts already.
    Every time I try to install the Desktop Application from the Story website, it says I must install Adobe Air. So I click Install, it shows the progress bar to 100%, then errors out with a window. The window header reads "Adobe AIR Installer" and the main section of the window reads "Couldn't write the application to the hard disk. Please verify the hard disk is available and try again." - There is a Retry and Cancel. Retry does it all again with same results.
    No, I had no previous versions of Adobe Air. So I tried installing AIR direct from the Adobe website, and it installs fine. So I go back to the Story webpage and try installing the Desktop Application again and the exact same set of events as described above happens. I uninstalled the AIR install, tried again, same result.
    I had Production Premium CS3 previously, and installed Production Premium CS5 UPGRADE. All the programs in the suite work like a charm!
    I'm running Windows 7 64 bit with 208 Gig free on my C drive, as well as over 500 gig free spread out over two other drives. 8 Gig memory, and two Nvidia Qadro FX 3500 video cards (If that matters at all). Full admin rights to the PC, not limited in any way.
    A quick Google search shows plenty of other people having the same problem,  just no known fixes I've found!

  • Questions on deploying Java desktop applications

    I have searched the forums and been unable to find the information I need. I am not sure this is the appropriate forum to post at but had to start somewhere!
    I have a Java desktop application which has only been used internally at my organization for R&D. We are now working with our legal folks on setting up various licensing options. The funding organization today said that they wanted the software set up such that deploying it externally would have behaviors such as:
    * preventing one CD being used to install on multiple machines,
    * preventing someone from copying the installed software from one machine to another,
    * have a way for the software to "expire" after a set amount of time.
    I have never had to deploy software externally before (nor does it seem has anyone else at my organization - we do science R&D) and am at a loss as to how to best do this. I have googled around a bit but not found any solutions. Has anyone here done this and could perhaps give me some pointers?

    Web start apps. are usually deployed directly off
    a server/internet site. Although deployment off CD

    The basic answer to all your questions as asked is 'no'.
    However, if the legal people can take a slightly different
    line, and that server/site has some 'active' element to it

    Bob accidentally trips over the power cord and
    drops Harriet's computer in a screaming heap,
    her app. will never have the chance to 'log out'
    and inform the server to free the slot.
    As such, it is important to allow her to log-in again in
    'a few minutes' (which is probably about the amount
    of time it will take her machine to reboot, and chide
    Bob for his oafish carelessness).
    Using this system, the first & second requirements
    above become redundant - as it is not the number of
    PC's that we care about - just the number of users.
    The third requirement could easily be handled on
    the server-side, checking licenses as users
    log-in, and confirming that license is still valid.

  • Need help on making desktop application to web application having individual controls for users at the same time

    I have an desktop application and the following are the functionalities of the same.
    1. User inputs the data file with path (log file) to parse the required data.
    2. Once the user enters the path and starts the tool with start button, the tool parse the required data in terms of records and gives the records (creates output file containing all the useful records).
    3. Have popup window to display a group of data.
    4. Have popup to Plot graph. When a button is pressed in main GUI, the popup is opened giving scroll bar menus to choose the data for the graph. User after selecting the data (multiple Y axis) press another button to plot the graph. The input to this popup is the output file generated by this tool.
    5. The main GUI has buttons (play, step forward, step backward, reverse play, pause, stop, 1st record, last record - like tape recorder buttons) to play the records one by one.
    This application is used by many people and since its a desktop application (created in labview 2009), the user every time has to manually install the newer version.
    "So it is required to make the application into web based so that, the user can individually access the tool at the same time (different instances same as desktop app) and run their own data files from their system. The output files to be stored in the respective user's system."
    Can this be done using Web Publishing or Web Services present in LabView?
    I tried using Web Publishing but it gives control to only one user at a time and loading the files from the client path to run the tool is not possible.

    Simple. 
    If all you are worried about are updates, just put the EXE on a shared network drive and have your users launch it from there.

    One of our Managers encounters the error 'A problem occurred while accessing the Office document cache.  Do you want to repair this problem?'
    Then When he says yes it give a warning that the cache will be backed up and replaced
    Then it says 'A new office document Cache has been created...'
    Then it loads this cache with an error
    Then After all that the next time he tries to open the document it says  is encountered "Sorry, we couldn't open 'URL."
    We have Reinstalled office 2013 on the users PC repaired the cache numerous times

    Updated Lync to 2013 leaving Access as the only office 2010 application (required for legacy systems access)

    And the issue remains the Same all other users including some who also have Access 2010 for legacy systems access have no Issues OS is windows 7 32 Bit browser is IE 9

  • HP 1300 wont print from Remote Desktop applications

    I have an HP 1300n attached via USB to a windows 7 computer.  I log onto a clien'ts windows 2003 server using remote desktop application.  I have installed the driver to HP 1300 PCL 5 on the remote server and of course it's installed on the windows 7 machine.  I can see the HP via port TSXxx on the remote server but when printing, nothing happens.  The document is sent to the "printer" but doesnt print in my office.   I've tried many solutions and nothing so far works.  I have 3 other windows 7 computers and 3 others HP 1300 and all are experiencing the same thing.

  • Windows 8.1 with creative cloud logged in makes Desktop slow, anyone else have this behavior?

    So I had this problem I was trying to figure out for the last week with a new laptop. When I installed the laptop everything was lightning fast. After I finished installing all the software, Windows desktop was slow, particularly starting applications like task manager would show a blank dialog for 30 seconds. Outlook, would be laggy and CrashPlan Desktop application would take 2 minutes to get past the splash screen.
    To figure this out, I created a 2nd user on the system and everything was fast again. So I started copying data from one user to the other. When I started connecting applications, I noticed the Desktop slow again after logging into Create Cloud. I then logged out and checked. Definitely has to do with being logged into Creative Cloud. Anyone else have this behavior?

    I have tried lots of fixes including renaming files. The only thing that works for me is to remove the following windows updates:
    KB2995388
    KB2975719
    Turn  off auto updates before you start as you need to reboot afterwards.
    I set auto update to the download but let me choose option otherwise these 2 re install themselves.
    I'm hanging on for our free upgrade to Win 10 now....
