Trouble maintaining original "date taken" info and metadata when exporting TIFFs from original CR2 files.

When exporting TIFFs (from original RAW), I noticed my metadata said the "date created" was the day of export. I want to be able to access the date the original image was taken as opposed to the day I exported it. Is there a way to maintain original date of image taken in my info? I couldn't seem to find it after I exported my TIFFs...

I just tested this with LR 5.5 Mac OS 10.9.3 and it works correctly for me.
To troubleshoot your problem:
1. Which version of LR and which platform (Mac, Windows)?
2. Which tool or command are you using to examine Date Created of the exported TIFF?
3. Upload a sample TIFF showing the problem to Dropbox or similar and post the URL here. This will allow us to take a look in detail.

  • Glitches, clicks, and pops when exporting all tracks as audio files

It's getting to crunch time, and Logic 9 has been giving me a very hard time. It's now time to export my edited tracks as mono audio files to send to a mixing engineer. I thought mono files would be a button press away. Not so.
    *Background on Project*:
    – Started in Logic 8, and was continued in Logic 9
    – Contains only audio that was recorded using Logic
    – Has take folders with Quick Swipe Comps
    – Has flexed regions
    – Has take folders with flexed regions in them
    – Has been manually beat mapped
    Steps:
    1) Set each fader, on every track, to unity gain and centre panning.
    2) File > Export > All Tracks as Audio Files
    3) Select AIFF, 24-bit, bypass effect plug-ins, and include volume/pan automation, normalize off.
    *Expected Outcome*:
I expect mono/stereo files of all of my unprocessed tracks, bounced in place with fades, flexing, and quick swipe comps applied.
    *Actual Outcome*:
I get mono/stereo files with clicks, pops, and scrambled sections scattered throughout the files, within fades, and at quick swipe comping boundaries. Retrying the export may result in clicks, pops, and scrambled sections in different places.
    Workaround:
While the glitching in fades and at comp boundaries seems to happen in offline bounces, it rarely happens when playing the song in realtime. Unfortunately, there's no realtime option when you "export all tracks as audio files." *My workaround is to export the tracks one at a time by bouncing the project in realtime with the desired track soloed*.
This is excruciatingly slow. To speed things up, I've taken to soloing six tracks at a time, assigning all of them to the surround output, and panning each track exclusively to a different surround channel. This way, I can do a split file surround bounce and get six mono files, each with the contents of a different track. If your audio interface does not support 6 outputs, then you'll need to download SoundFlower and use their virtual 16 channel output.

In addition to the flex algorithms being disappointingly substandard in overall tc quality, flex tracks glitch constantly--especially if there are tempo changes or crossfades. You may be able to freeze them first and then export. AlternAtively, you could try tmelocking them and then using an alternate tempo map with a single tempo, then switching back after you flex tracks are bounced.

  • Need to maintain same data in ECC and MDM

    Hi ,
Could you please tel me why we need to maintain same data in MDM and ECC seperately.
    Regards
    Ramya

    HI Ramyadixit,
It is important to understand that MDM and ERP do not replace eachother rather complement each other.
Using SAPu2019s ERP suite as the foundation technology for an MDM implementation is problematic because, despite all the positives of ERP, flexibility is usually not associated with SAP systems.
SAP ERP doesnu2019t offer the tools to manage master data in the ways required by todayu2019s complex organizations.SAP ERP isnu2019t designed for active management of critical master data. Specifically, SAPu2019s data matching capabilities are too basic. Its search functions might be good at u201Cexact matchu201D but they are not as strong at the kind of u201Cfuzzy searchingu201D that is so important in uncovering duplicate entries with subtle differences. For the same reason, users are far more likely to create new duplicate customer records in SAP, and thereu2019s no way to create a u201Cgolden copyu201D of master data for use across multiple heterogeneous systems, or to maintain survivorship rules for overlapping data from multiple systems.
These problems are all compounded when you have more than a single SAP instance, or different ERPs altogether, which is a very real occurrence within large corporations that have grown through mergers & acquisitions. Even without multiple ERP instances, most mid-size and larger national firms are likely to pull data from many different systems. In fact, 10 to 30 source systems is not uncommon, and heterogeneous environments are now the norm. The siloed approach to data management whereby customer-facing data is in one system, product data in another, asset data in a third, and so forth, really complicates the integration of processes, data and workflow.
A dedicated MDM hub provides a multitude of benefits not attainable with an SAP ERP-based master data approach. First, a dedicated MDM system is just that -- dedicated to delivering the best possible manageability of your master data across the enterprise, and not just within your ERP technology stack. The focus of any high-quality, enterprise-grade MDM hub implementation is going to be on getting master data right; creating a single source of truth, with each distinct customer, product, etc. represented only once in the hub. This means you can maintain accurate, complete, timely and consistent master data through both data governance and hub technology, with robust data quality and matching capabilities.
MDM and ERP need to coexist for instance as one solution does not replace the other. From an investment perspective, it is important to leverage existing technologies such as data quality, extract-transfer-load (ETL) and data integration tools, middleware, business process management and workflow.
To summarise, the top five reasons not to master your data in SAP ERP are:
    1. SAP ERP isnu2019t flexible enough.
    2. Master data is different and canu2019t be proactively managed within an SAP ERP system.
    3. SAPu2019s ERP products werenu2019t designed for active management of master data.
    4. Mastering data in an ERP system is much more difficult with more than one instance or when different ERPs are used together.
    5. An MDM hub creates a workspace between an organizationu2019s transactional and analytic systems meaning they fix it once and then extend it for use in back office systems and the data warehouse.
    Hope it helps!
    Thanks,
    Ravi

Azure Data Factory makes it easy to automate Hadoop or custom code.  So any library, method, etc that works on Hadoop can be used within a Data Factory pipeline.
Once an Azure Data Factory is designed, in the Azure portal
https://portal.azure.com you can see a diagram view the data factory including the various tables (Files, SQL tables, blobs, etc) and the activities (Copies, Hive/ Pig scripts) which connect those. When you click on a particular item, there is a visual

Our intial Lineage focus initially has been "operational lineage" including things like health status, health history, run logs, etc.

You can go to Settings/iCloud and delete the account, then create a new iCloud account.  You can still use the same account for the app store though.

Problems such as yours are sometimes caused by files that should belong to you but are locked or have wrong permissions. This procedure will check for such files. It makes no changes and therefore will not, in itself, solve your problem.
    First, empty the Trash.
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below to select it, then drag or copy it — do not type — into the Terminal window:
    find . $TMPDIR.. \( -flags +sappnd,schg,uappnd,uchg -o ! -user $UID -o ! -perm -600 -o -acl \) 2> /dev/null | wc -l
Press return. The command may take a noticeable amount of time to run. Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign (“$”) to appear.
The output of this command, on a line directly below what you entered, will be a number such as "35." Please post it in a reply.

  • Loading data to Headcount and Personnel Actions infocube (0PA_C01) from r/3

    Hi Gurus,
I'm loading data from R/3 into my infocube 0PA_C01. I'm loading the data from 2 infosources 0HR_PA_0 (DS is 0HR_PA_0) and 0HR_PA_1. The infosource 0HR_PA_1 has inturn 3 datssources 0EMPLOYEE_ATTR, 0PERSON_ATTR and 0HR_PA_1. So on the whole I have 4 data sources and so 4 infopackages.
Now the problem is that if I load an employee from r/3, the data is getting loaded into the cube in 4 lines, one per each info package. But I want to see all the employee details in one line. Any ideas on how to load the data into one line ??
    Regards,
    Ramesh

why are u loading master data in the cube.
Load the master data seperately and what ever attributes of master data you want make that as master data attributes when you load the transaction data using 0HR_PA_0 and 0HR_PA_1.
Also, there could be 4 records in the master data that the reson you are getting 4 records depeding about the time dependent infoobject.
You can check that in 0Employee and 0Person what all attributes are time dependented according to that you are getting records.
As becuase of Begda and Endda the records changes in R/3 so even you will have that set of record in BW when you fetch that data .
    Hope this help.

  • Is it possible to backup my work done in Lightroom 4 to include my original cr2 files and changes?

I want to transfer some of my older work to an external hard drive, but I don't want to lose all the adjustments I made and would almost like to be able to pick up where I left off in the event I want to come back and continue to process images more or delete previous changes, etc.  Is this possible?  If so, how do I export to include all the files I would need to do this?  I've read about cr2 files and their sidecars, xmp files, but I'm not sure if this is what I'm looking for.  Also, how do you bring back in these cr2 files with an xmp?  Does Lightroom automatically read the xmp files and apply them to the appropriate cr2 file?  They both would have to be imported at the same time?  Thanks!

It seems to me that 'Export as catalog' is what you are looking for.
After selecting the pictures you want to export, select 'File' -> 'Export as catalog'. There are  several options to choose from, such as whether to include the actual files (cr2 in your case) which is what you want to do and whether to include the preview files. You can also indicate where to save the new catalog, so you can indicate the external drive you intend to use.
You will end up with a new catalog containing your selected files and all adjustments you have made to them. You will not have to worry about the xmp sidecars, this will be taken care of by Lightroom.
    Hope this helps!

  • HT4865 What's the best way to protect student info and work saved to iCloud from their school iPads?

I'm doing some prep work for next year's implementation of iPads in some of the lower elementary classes at my school. I've read about the hack-ability of iCloud lately in the online articles. What was happening in Norway is exactly what could be happening in classrooms next year if certain security procedures aren't put in place. I would be grateful for any suggestions that you might have on how to beef up security for the students' work and info, and if you have any suggestions about the best ways to learn with iPads with children in grades K-4 (4-10 years old).

  • Losing Metadata when extracting image from stack

    Hi,
I have a series of 70 images that I edited in colour and B/W. They were stacked with the original RAW file in stacks of 3. I decided to extract the B/W versions to collect them in a separate folder. Now I discovered that from most B/W images the IPTC data is gone (and I had extensive captions and keyword lists). Only the info I filled in when importing the files from the camera remains. The IPTC of the other images in the stacks (RAW and a colour TIFFs) are in some cases gone too. So in more than 50% of the cases I have lost all added data in all three images from each stack.
Has anyone had similar problems? Is there any way to recover the data of the images where all data is gone?
In some stacks at least one of the images still has the data. So I can copy that again.
    Thanks,
    Ronald

I don't have a file to test with mdls but I usually use ExifTool for metadata work.  Here is a script I wrote a while ago that will display all of the metadata contained in the file.

  • Missing file number suffix metadata when exporting

    Hello All,
I export files from Lightroom 2 (LR2) using custom filenames that include file number, i.e. "Original number suffix", metadata. This metadata is not being picked up by the export module and will therefore not be included in the exported filename. This happens with files that have been edited in Photoshop (CS3), but not with the original DNG files.
So if I have a master file named "Davison-20080809-1234-Master.psd", I in Lightroom 1.x (LR1) I set up a custom filename scheme in the export dialogue box that will export the master as "Davison-20080809-1234-BW-Web.jpg", or similar. This has worked with no problems to date.
In LR2, when I look at the Example field under File Naming in the Export dialogue, I see only "Davison-20080809-BW-Web.jpg"--the original number suffix is missing along with one of the hyphens around it. When I create a custom file naming scheme with only the "Original filename suffix" metadata in it, it shows "_.jpg" in the Example field.
It looks like maybe two things are happening.
In LR1, if a piece of metadata was missing, it would still export a filename with all the hyphens around the missing data, so I would get "Davison-20080809--BW-Web.jpg" if the number suffix were missing. Someone probably tweaked that in the new version of Lightroom so that the unsightly double hyphenation would not appear. So this doesn't look like it's related to the problem.
The second thing that appears to be happening is that Lightroom 2 is either not exporting (in file metadata) or not tracking (in the LR catalogue) the number suffixes. I've looked for the number suffix in Photoshop's metadata and it's not stored in the metadata at all. When I copy a Photoshop file with a suffix that does export correctly in LR2, rename the file "Test-20080809.psd" and import it into LR2, Lightroom parses the date (YYYYMMDD) as the number suffix and "20080809" is what I get when I export that file. This indicates that LR1 and LR2 store the number suffix in the catalogue and for some reason LR2 is not preserving the number suffix in the catalogue metadata when a file is edited in Photoshop.
So has anyone else run into this problem? Or is someone interested in reproducing it? It looks like a bug to me.

I'm also running into this same problem. For what it's worth, when I import my RAW files (as DNGs), I rename them using a naming scheme which looks like the following:
    (2008-08-13) -019- (7108).dng
This scheme is created with the following elements (separated by line-breaks):
    custom date formula
    import number
    original file suffix
In Lightroom 1, I had no problem. Now, I'm wondering if the parenthesis after the end of the file suffix is what's causing Lightroom 2 to think that there is no suffix?

  • How to preserve metadata when exporting non-jpgs from iPhoto?

I have a problem with an iPhoto library, and need to move the photos to an undamaged library.  (I have been able to confirm that the problems are specific to the library and not to individual images or with other iPhoto libraries on the same computer, and rebuilding options have not helped.)  I can export the processed jpgs intact with the metadata (titles, descriptions, keywords) that I added manually in iPhoto, import them to another library, and the metadata is intact.  But unless I convert the TIFF and NEF originals to jpgs, they lose the metadata on export.
Is there a way to get these original format files into another library with their format and metadata intact?

    1. Why not simply rebuild with iPhoto Library Manager
This will do that process for you - and preserve as much of that metadata as possible, along with Albums and much of your organisaion.
    2. You can't export the Original plus the added metadata, then you wouldn't be exporting the Original. You can export the Tiffs as tiffs though, and that can include the additional metadata.
    3. There is no way to write the additional metadata to the NEFs.
    Regards

  • Will I loose all my files and photos when I upgrade from 10.5.8 to Snow leopard

I have purchased Mac OS X Snow Leopard from the Mac store and I am ready to install it. Will I loose all my files and photos when I install it ?  I am upgrading from 10.5.8 to 10.6.3 Snow leopard.

Before embarking on a major OS upgrade, it would be wise, advisable and very prudent if you backup your current system to an external connected and Mac formatted Flash drive OR externally connected USB, Thunderbolt or FireWire 800, Mac formatted hard drive. Then, use either OS X Time Machine app to backup your entire system to the external drive OR purchase, install and use a data cloning app, like CarbonCopyCloner or SuperDuper, to make an exact and bootable copy (clone) of your entire Mac's internal hard drive. This step is really needed in case something goes wrong with the install of the new OS or you simply do not like the new OS, you have a very easy way/procedure to return your Mac to its former working state.
